"New Book Details Militant Islam in U.S." in Human Events is my review of Steven Emerson's Jihad Incorporated.
Are you aware of the al Qaeda plot to assassinate President Bush that was uncovered in 2005? Did you know that jihad terrorists in the U.S. financed the 1993 World Trade Center bombing partially through the sale of counterfeit T-shirts? Did you know that a professor at the University of South Florida in the 1990s was one of the international leaders of the terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad and that he used his university activities as a cover while he raised money, gained recruits and disseminated propaganda for the jihad group? Had you heard that in May 2003, an American citizen living in Ohio pled guilty to conducting surveillance of the Brooklyn Bridge and other potential targets for al Qaeda? These were not isolated incidents. In fact, they are just a few of the known activities of a huge jihad network that still operates in the United States, but of which few Americans are aware. That lack of awareness, however, is not because the information is unavailable: Steven Emerson’s “Jihad Incorporated: A Guide to Militant Islam in the U.S.” tears the cover off this American jihad network. It is a comprehensive summation of what is known about the activities of al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other jihad groups within the United States. Although the tone of this book is sober and straightforward throughout, the cumulative effect is startling: The extent to which these jihad groups have penetrated American society is likely to come as a surprise even to relatively informed readers.
Emerson, who has been tracking jihad terror activity in the U.S. for years (he is the producer of the riveting 1994 episode of PBS’s “Frontline” titled “Terrorists Among Us—Jihad in America,” which is still essential viewing for all those concerned about the security of the United States), in his book lays out evidence that jihadists are pursuing their goal of Islamic supremacism in myriad ways in America today, including through “advocacy groups, an array of disingenuous charities and foundations, corporate financing networks, and the halls of academia.” He and the staffers of his Investigative Project on Terrorism explain how al Qaeda continues to operate on our soil even after 9/11, how its operational strategy has evolved since then, and the extent of its American network.Unimpeded Terror Financing
But al Qaeda, of course, is not the only jihad organization operating on American soil today. Emerson explores the activities of many of them, including their actions within American mosques, their operations through charitable organizations and through the Internet and their involvement in money-laundering activities that allow terror financing to continue virtually unimpeded.
At the same time, he chronicles how American Muslim advocacy groups in Washington have worked to impede law enforcement endeavors against these operations at virtually every step—raising questions about their own larger goals. And of course, these advocacy groups have benefited from friends in high places.
“Homegrown plotters, sleeper cells, intolerant and hateful imams, and their domestic apologists,” Emerson explains, “all seek to undermine the foundations of this country through a variety of means: rhetoric, fund-raising, and violence. Intricate webs of interconnected groups and organizations have been established to pursue—and often to obfuscate—the zealots’ destructive objectives.”
It is disquieting reading, but in “Jihad Incorporated,” Steven Emerson has provided a useful summary of jihad activity in the United States at this time. We may only hope that law enforcement officials around the country are studying this book diligently, absorbing its lessons and devising strategies to head off the further growth of the jihad network in America.

Funny how these things haven't been disclosed until now.
I have a CD of Steven Emerson's. On it is written "Terrorists among Us : jihad in America." It has video footage of islamic training camps. An American friend of mine had sent it to me some time back, with the request to "pass it on". I have hesitated until now since by doing this, I will be pirating. So here is the question, should I ?
"And of course, these advocacy groups have benefited from friends in high places."
cough cough....pelosi , murtagh, kennedy et al....cough cough . 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in California. cough cough..Keith Ellison..barbara boxer...hack hack, cough cough.......
The ALA's reviewer, Brendan Driscoll, has described Emerson as "somewhat controversial."
What makes him controversial? That he has been "accused of overstatement?" (By whom?)
And I notice when Emerson is giving his opinion he is "vociferously asserting."
What he is stating is that:
terrorists "have insinuated themselves in the structure of American society," pursuing violent ends through "advocacy groups, an array of disingenuous charities and foundations, corporate financing networks, and the halls of academia."
Apparently he gives many footnoted facts to back up this claim.
There is no way to state an unpleasant truth without sounding a bit strident. But as soon as someone does this, they are considered to be untrustworthy because they aren't dispassionate enough.

NO WAY, FRANCIOS!....The days of FDR and Ronald Reagan are OVER!....They dug this hole...it's their problem....
As for this book, start reading, America...The enemy within is closer to home than you think!.....
Arjun - yes, I think you should spread it around. As long as you don't charge for it, I'm sure Emerson would prefer the word get broadcast, first and foremost.
I'm not sure about any publisher's rights, but I don't think you will wind up incarcerated or fined.
(Disclaimer - not a lawyer! Nor do I play one on TV... and I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in a long time.)
Arjun, yes please pass it on or tell me where to get it!!!
Please call or email your congressman and the White House re: a pardon for the Border guards that have been convicted of shooting a Mexican Drug Runner. They are to report to jail today to serve their 10 year sentences in a federal jail. As the jails in California are controlled by the Mexican Mafia, it is likely that they will not survive their sentence.
If Clinton could pardon an array of rogues on a Quid pro Quo basis such as cocaine dealer Carlos Vignali and con man and tax evader Marc Rich then Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean are worthy of pardon. If Bush can pardon fraudulent banker Edwin Cox Jr in exchange for political donations from his father, Pakistani heroin distributor Aslam Adam, and Cuban plane bomber/terrorist Orlando Bosch, then Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean are worthy of pardon.
Re: the Drug Runner who was shot, he was given a free pass for smuggling over 100lbs of marijuana. No prosecution and release from custody.
Follow up: The same Drug Runner was recently arrested for smuggling in 1,000lbs of marijuana. The indictment was sealed and it looks like he is going to get kid gloves treatment.
Also heard that "the Drug Runner who was shot" is suing the U.S. government for five million dollars. yeah, and crime doesn't pay...

Good Lord man, no! Don't get yourself in serious legal trouble. The jihadists would like nothing better than that to happen to you. As tempting as it might be to make copies of the CD (if that's what your talking about) and pass it on, don't do it. Just some friendly advice.
lonewolf - you can obtain a copy of Steven Emerson's "Terrorists among Us : jihad in America." HERE
YouTube has several taped interviews with Steven Emerson as well HERE
including this one titled: Jihad Incorporated.
Also note . . .this weekend there is a program called “Smokescreen: Hezbollah Inside America” airing on Fox TV.
Steven Emerson has discussed this topic at length on video - Part 1 and Part II

If you haven't seen this one, you need to.
Hidden camera in American mosques (example: Kansas)
The rhetoric is just as damning as the British program.
On Youtube.com if you type in the search terms: Emerson, jihad -- you'll get about 50 hits.
I wouldn't put too much Stock in Sen.Phlussi returning CAIRs letter. Pigs will fly before she renounces her core Political Tenents by saying all Muslums cannot be trusted.
Reality makes Muslim trustworthyness the core issue.Freedom of expression works both ways.Muslims may have the right to be trusted. While we have the right to ask them why should we?
Without Their acceptance of our Culture no one will trust them.
Who's going to go to the MSM and make a statement that is defendable in a "politically Correct Enviroment? Books only go so far as soneones willingness to bring it up.
s_sgt7,
I own it, and don't remember that. But it was made in 1994, well before the 9-11 attacks.

This is the notorious 1994 episode of Frontline about violent Islamic militants in America, bracketed by post-9/11 footage of that disaster and the U.S. attack in Afghanistan. Hidden cameras inside *American* mosques reveal Islamic militants raising funds for Hamas, baying for the blood of Jews. Even something so innocent as a summer camp for boys is turned into terror training by these apostles of jihad. (Catch the little arab boy hissing "Butcher the Jews!" during that segment.) Evidence is also offered suggesting that the first World Trade Center bombing was plotted and funded inside the U.S. At the end, the narrator assures us that Islam itself does not condone the violent jihad that American Muslims are being called to. This is baldly untrue, based on the Koran and the Hadiths and a quarter century of painful experience, but that issue needs its own video, so it doesn't much matter here.
It's hard to believe that PBS once actually aired this mortal sin against multi-cultism. Complaints against its creator, Steve Emerson, from well-funded American Muslim groups helped get him blacklisted from NPR's All Things Considered for a while. Less subtle disapproval from less savory Muslims nearly landed him in the FBI's witness protection program. In response to the (non-existent) oppression of Muslims in America, PBS this past year aired its infamous pro-Islam infomercial, in which American Muslims are portrayed as no different from anyone else save for headgear and cuisine. It ain't so, and this film shows why. As Paul Harvey says, it is _not_ one world.
Steve Emerson appeared on MSNBC for several years after 9/11 and then seemed to disappear. MSNBC didn't want to focus on terrorism?
s_sgt7:
"If you get the idea that I am flabberghasted at what is happening in the USA and US citizens are letting this happen - then you are right! Is everyone asleep?"
We're not asleep. We've been watching this unfold since at least 1979. US citizens are not "letting" it happen. We just don't know what to do. The PC police are everywhere and nothing we say to our leaders is heard. I think a lot of people have simply given up and resolved to enjoy the bread and circuses until this once-great country comes crashing down around them. (Thinking about something you can't control only wastes energy.) Others are too busy trying to survive and raise their children and so they have entrusted their elected representatives with the safety and security of this country. What is their alternative? They don't have the resources to start a new network, newspaper or other mass media publication and they can't afford to take time away from their jobs to spend five days a week in Washington lobbying representatives.
Reason I ask is that if these networks operating in the US of different parties with different enemies are inter-connected, it would be easier to point out to doubting Thomases that Jihad is a worldwide campaign, and not a bunch of co-incidental movements by different Islamic groups against different Infidel countries. That would in turn make it difficult for Russia, for example, to pretend that the Jihadists against Israel do not support the Chechens. Evidence of this, when mounted, should help dissuade different Infidel countries from taking the side of any Islamists, be it the Arabs against Israel, Kosovo against Serbia, Chechnya against Russia, et al.
- from the review: "And of course, these advocacy groups have benefited from friends in high places."
Robert,
Does Mr. Emerson elaborate on this observation in his book?
I'm wondering if mention is made of the useful idiots in the current administration and its high placed supporters.

EricinTexas,
I'm in Austin.
Where are you?

Hey, I'm in frozen Austin too. Would like to meet any jihad watchers, but without letting the vermin know where. I haven't posted for about a week or so if you don't recognize the moniker. I am probably one of the few musicians in our town who stays informed about the threat these swine pose to not only us, but our beautiful pc burdened city. Thank God the rest of the state isn't like this.
TexasInfidel - Wow, a kindred JW-ing spirit so close by.

There is a motion picture out now that paints a pretty good picture, I think, of what life may end up being like in the western democracies if we do not find a way to remove Islam from our countries NOW.
That film is CHILDREN of MEN.
I see what's coming if we fail to act. And, we're not going to like it at all.
I think about this film becoming reality everytime I see Emerson interviewed on TV or read his material.
Thanks, Elgreco, EricinTexas, and Lonewolf. The issue of piracy is weighing heavily on my mind for the past few days. Regarding "terrorists among us : jihad in America" ; the CD has live footage of militant camps in America itself. Scary.
Hi all - Steve Emerson caused a stir with his book "American Jihad", which was one of several books that awoke me to the Islamic threat in the U.S. He was on most of the news networks until he tried to tie in his findings of Muslin terrorist operations from OK City to the 9/11 horror. He was then blacklisted for all intents and purposes, disappearing from all the networks including Fox (which surprised the hell out of me). He's remained out there, investigating the Islamist threat, and has recently been returning to Fox, CNN and several other networks, which I am glad to see.
