Really, Mr. Spencer... that frightened me. I had to read that headline and story twice before I caught on. In a side note, it's being reported on the BBC today that a poll of 25 countries finds that less than 1 in 3 persons questioned have a positive impression of the United States.

Typical BBC, though. In their report there is a reference to a "British-born" terror suspect who had absconded. This is to sow the seed of doubt in our minds as to who these people really are. What they should have said was "British-born but fiercely anti-British, anti-American, anti-Jew and anti-anything that is not Islam".

Look at the difference in the comments of these two articles. The first about the Dispathes program. Most were blaming Channel 4 for broadcasting hate and causing divisiveness. The usual 'muslims are misunderstood and taken out of context'. Even when a few muslims said they see this all the time, they were ignored. It is supposed to be reassuring that none of the men held were involved in "planned terror activity in the UK"? Does this mean that they were involved in unplanned, spontaneous terror activity in the UK? Or that the planning is done by other members of the team, not yet apprehended while the people arrested were just the triggermen? Or that their planned terror activity targets other countries, e.g. the United States?

Or, perhaps, that the planning occurs outside the UK, while the terrorist activity itself occurs in the UK?

Is the publisher afraid of a muslim backlash of some sort? Which way would attract more readers, hence advertisers and dollars? Boggles the mind.

Five held after anti-terror raids
Five men have been arrested under terrorism laws in two separate operations, police have confirmed.

Police arrested two men, aged 25 and 29, in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Another two men, both 24, were arrested in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, and a fifth man, 32, was held after his arrest in that city's Longsight area.

It is thought the Manchester operation is linked to an incident earlier this month in which a terror suspect absconded, breaching a control order.

The BBC's Home Affairs correspondent Danny Shaw said the British-born man, in his 20s, disappeared while under an order which imposes a type of house arrest on terror suspects.

Searches

He is thought to have gone abroad and is not believed to be one of the three arrested in Manchester, Mr Shaw says.

Greater Manchester Police said the operation was carried out at four addresses and three were still being searched.

Officers have liaised with representatives of the local community and produced leaflets giving information about the operation.

A police spokeswoman said: "At this stage, there is no intelligence of any planned terrorist activity in the UK and the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation."

Meanwhile, two men are being taken to a London police station following the unrelated raids in Halifax.

The pair were arrested in connection with a search for extremist material which may have been used to radicalise individuals or promote ideologies supporting terrorism, according to Mr Shaw.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "At approx 6am today in an intelligence-led operation, two men were arrested in West Yorkshire under the Terrorism Act 2000."

The arrests were made by officers from the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command and the West Yorkshire Police.

Police are now searching four addresses in the Halifax area, one of which is thought to be in the Pellon area.

A flat in north London is also being searched as part of the same operation.

A spokesman for the West Yorkshire force said high-visibility police will patrol affected areas to provide reassurance.

A meeting has taken place between police and community leaders at the Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre in Calderdale.

It is one of a number of venues which will open throughout the day to provide local people with information about the day's events.

Police stressed there were no links with the arrests made in Manchester.

I think all religious fundamentalist should be locked up, they're only dysfunctionalizing the world with their day dreams of the here-after. Anyone who takes a sentence and translates it a thousand different ways is an idiot. Just read the damn thing, absorb it and then throw it away; it's the best way to live. I have figured out why "it's the fastest growing religion". The numbers are constantly being doubled by the muslims....1.2 billion becomes 2.6 in a week.
