Still more UK dhimmi follies. "Islamic school raided by police stays open," by Julie Henry in the Sunday Telegraph, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
The Government has failed to close down a Muslim school that was raided by anti-terror police, despite being advised by Ofsted to deregister it.More than 100 police carried out a dawn raid at Jameah Islamiyah, a private school near Crowborough in East Sussex, in September.
Officers remained at the site for more than three weeks before the investigation was wound up.
The operation was linked to the earlier arrest of 14 men in London in connection with an alleged terrorist recruitment network. Twelve people were charged and remanded in custody to await trial. No arrests were made in connection with the school.
At the time, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) said that Ofsted was due to visit the school and, if improvements that were deemed necessary after an earlier inspection in 2005 had not been made, the department would "delete the school from the Register of Independent Schools and shut it down".
The Sunday Telegraph has obtained a confidential report which shows the school was the subject of a monitoring visit by Ofsted in November and that a report was sent to the DfES recommending the school be deregistered.
However, no action has been taken and the school remains on the Register of Independent schools.
The stupidity of the West knows no limits. No wonder Islamaniacs think they'll rule the world.
One can't blame them for thinking that way given stories like these; they may indeed be right.
How can they close a school? They'd be no better than the Taliban.
The Dhimmitude both in England AND in Germany knows no bounds. Could it be that both nations completely shot their wad in WW2 and then they both lost it?!
Would be a pity to be taken over so voluntarily by what I can only describe as our inferiors. If only we could muster the will.. sad...
"The Dhimmitude both in England AND in Germany knows no bounds. Could it be that both nations completely shot their wad in WW2 and then they both lost it?!"
This sort of idiotic trashing of allies by (presumably) Americans is unfortunately becoming more and more typical of the posts on this site -- though there are also, thank God, intelligent, thoughtful analyses by the likes of Hugh Fitzgerald and others which keep me reading.
For the umpteenth time, what if Europeans wrote, in the light of all the dhimmitude in the US chronicled on this site, something like "Could it be that the US shot its wad in Vietnam and then lost it"?
I do not live in the UK. I would be grateful if a reader would eplain to me the meaning of the term "Ofsted".
Thanks.
"The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) is a non-ministerial government department, established in 1993 under the Education (Schools) Act 1992. It is responsible for inspecting the standards of independent and state schools, local education authorities, child day care and childminding in England; it also monitors the work of the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Ofsted is also required to provide independent advice to the United Kingdom government and parliament on matters of policy and to publish an annual report to parliament on the quality of educational provision in England."
Thanking you exsgtbrown. Much appreciated.
Ofsted administers the "No Terrorist Left Behind" program in the UK.
JFGR,
I agree that it makes sense to focus on bringing about positive change and not picking fights with our allies. However, the situation in Europe, and the UK in particular, does seem particularly strange from this side of the pond.
We are all hoping for another Churchill or another Thatcher. Until then, it does seem like dhimmitude is much further along in the UK than it is in the US.
JSobieski,
You write:
"However, the situation in Europe, and the UK in particular, does seem particularly strange from this side of the pond."
Well, no more strange than, say, the proposed ban on profiling at US airports that I've just been reading about -- and many another example of crass dhimmitude by people of authority in the US.
"We are all hoping for another Churchill or another Thatcher. Until then, it does seem like dhimmitude is much further along in the UK than it is in the US. "
Yes, so are we, but we're also hoping for another FDR or JFK in your country. I would doubt that dhimmitude is in fact any more advanced in the UK than the US. You can't see, from your side of the pond, what ordinary people here think and say -- you just see the examples highlighted (quite rightly) on JihadWatch. And we all know that liberal opinion everywhere in the West is in thrall to political correctness, which I believe was spawned in universities and other hotbeds of left-liberal views in the US, and thence spread, alas, to England. I remember in the 80s being at first amused, then appalled, at the examples of PC, then blessedly unknown to us, which were mocked in the English newspapers.
My point, to reiterate,is this: dhimmitude (as we are using the term) is an unfortunate feature of ALL Western societies today, including the US, and it does no good at all (except perhaps to make the poster feel self-righteous) to pick on specific examples from other countries and use these examples to go over the top and start talking about whole nations having "lost it". Ever heard the good old English saying "it's the pot calling the kettle black"? (Or has this been expunged from the lexicon over there by the PC zealots because of the b---- word?)
