Extremists screamed insults at an Old Bailey judge yesterday as a British Muslim was convicted of inciting murder during protests against the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.Umran Javed, 27, had shouted “Bomb, bomb USA” and “Jihad is the path to Allah” as he led a 300-strong crowd in chants during a demonstration in London last year.
The unemployed web designer was a prominent figure in the rally outside the Danish embassy at the height of worldwide Muslim anger at the appearance of the cartoons in a Danish newspaper....
There was uproar in court as the verdict was delivered and the Common Serjeant of London, Judge Brian Barker, QC, remanded Javed, a married father of one child, in custody.
One man was led from the public gallery by security guards after shouting: “Allahu Akbar [God is greatest], I curse the judge, the court, the jury, all of you.”
Other friends and supporters of Javed also shouted insults. Sitting with them was Parveen Sharif, 37, who was acquitted at the Old Bailey in 2005 of charges of failing to disclose information about the activities of her brother, Omar, who took part in a suicide bomb attack in Tel Aviv in 2003....
Javed was filmed by police speaking through a loudhailer outside the Danish Embassy during the protest in February 2006. He began by talking about the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Palestinian territories, Kashmir and Chechnya, then accused non-Muslims of “declaring war” on the Muslim community. The jury saw Javed shouting: “We declare that we will not stand for what Denmark did, we will not stand for what France, for Europe, for the whole of the kuffar [non-believers], the Western world are united for. They have declared war against the Muslim community for which they will pay a heavy price.”
He referred to “the lessons of Theo van Gogh”, the Dutch film-maker who was murdered by an Islamist extremist, then led a series of chants including: “Denmark, you will pay, with your blood, with your blood”, “Bomb, bomb USA” and “Bomb, bomb Denmark”. He said that Denmark should take care because Zarqawi — a reference to the former al-Qaeda leader in Iraq — was “coming back”.
Javed made no comment during police interviews but testified at his trial saying he had no intention of calling for violence. He told the court: “I happened to be behind the person who was speaking. The microphone was offered to me to continue the chanting and to keep the demonstration afloat.
“I didn’t ask for the microphone and I didn’t intend to speak on the day. I was offered the microphone and I was completely unprepared. In the end I accepted it and I thought I would make a speech and say what I needed to say. None of this was rehearsed. I said what I felt at the time.
“Never, ever did I intend or have it in my mind to threaten anybody. I ran out of things to say and resorted to chants people were saying. There was emotionally charged situation and these are the kinds of chants people were saying.
“I can understand with the benefit of hindsight why people have interpreted the things I said. But these were sayings and soundbites without any intention at all.”

It's a video recording of that demonstration, and it includes more than being described in the article. Including a muslim saying they will kill men in Denmark and take their wives as war booty.

I'm sure that the Curses at the Judge were also " just the first thing that popped into their heads " which is very revealing. people are starting to learn what is actually in the Head of the Muslim.

I can hardly wait till those types of demonstrations happen in my city. i assure you i won't just stand by and say nothing, and i may not just stand by and DO nothing. the message needs to be sent either through Counter demonstrations or by a good knock to their thick Muhammadian skulls!

W_D_J_D made a very good point, and I think there is still more underlying the chosen syntax of Mr. Javed. "Interpretation" is a word often used to lessen the impact of the copious incitement to violence in the Quran and indeed all Islamic canonical texts. It is meant to anesthetize the west to this obvious menace. In Mr. Javed's mouth, it means that he wants us to extend this dubiously blissful state of ignorance to his modern-day, in our faces incitement to massacre.
This conviction is a critical turning point that I hope will be built upon. Now that a critical mass of thinking people in the west see the danger of Islamic hate and supremacism, it needs to be turned into action. If this young brute had not been recorded, he would not have been convicted, and the Muslim community in the UK would not have this stark reminder that their designs can be thwarted and they can be punished for their misdeeds. Whomever recorded this and put it on youtube.com deserves a medal of freedom, if such a thing could exist in Europe.
I hope this gives British jihadists a message. Don't tread on us!

Good stuff, but what percentage of the people chanting death threats on that demo have been arrested and convicted? I don't think it'll be more than a couple or so.
The police watching the footage found out who he was because he was already known to them for what he did in Brum in 2003, and because he wasn't covering his face very well. I doubt if the coppers will nab many of those who were both covering their faces and not already on file.
Perhaps just perhaps people in UK are starting to realise just what a cancer they have in their midst. But I very much doubt if the broadcast news services such as the BBC and ITV will run the video footage of the rabid Mulsim dogs ranting so all they will see is the bland newspaper reports which really will not show the faces of the Mohammedans contorted in rage and hate as they scream their abuse. But the PC,leftwing, treehuggers will no doubt claim that really the poor Mohammedans are the victims and its all the fault of the USA and the Joooos. Strangely the Law profession in UK is riddled with extreme leftwing Barristers and Judges.
ref Realist's comment above, speaking as one of the 'people in UK' i can honestly say that i started to wake up over 20 years ago. at that time we had a government which had barely the faintest idea as to what should be done.
things started to change after 9/11, but it was, and still is, difficult to speak out on this subject without coming to the attention of the police, whereas Muslims were increasingly allowed to preach hate in the media without having to fear the consequences.
i hope that what we are now seeing are some real changes, small steps but in the right direction.
ref Elephant's comment, there is an offence in Britain called 'Going equipped' to commit an offence against property or a person, and it seems to me that could be applied to male demonstrators who cover their faces, in that they are 'equipped' to avoid identification if they suddenly get the urge to attack someone or something. for a man to cover his face could in itself be seen as threatening behaviour, as the prelude to a violent act ?

There is also a law against action likely to cause a breach of the peace, and conspiracy to commit a crime in theory can carry the same penalty as actually doing it.

There were clearly several ringleaders whose faces were abundantly visible if anyone wishes to prosecute. They picked one guy thinking that will quiet the anti-dhimmitude dissent. They're giving us a sacrifice of one. What a wonderful justice system we have in the West!
