Utah imam is fired amid rumors of domestic violence

"Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them." -- Qur'an 4:34

"Utah imam is fired amid rumors of domestic violence, shirked duty," by Jessica Ravitz and Jason Bergreen in The Salt Lake Tribune, with thanks to D.C. Watson:

WEST VALLEY CITY - Imam Shuaib-ud Din has been terminated from his position as religious leader of the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake amid allegations of domestic violence.

Police said they responded to a "domestic-related incident" at Din's home a week ago, and the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office reported an attempt to serve a protective order against him on Thursday.

Contacted by phone, a relative of the imam said he was in Chicago now but would not comment on the allegations. The relative acknowledged that Din and his wife were having marital problems but said the imam was driven out of town by disgruntled members of the society's board.

Police Lt. Matt Elson said officers responded to Din's home Jan. 13 at 12:05 p.m. The call was completed at 4:32 p.m.

There were no arrests made, and Elson said he was not aware of any warrants. He would not comment on any other details of the incident....

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office on Thursday obtained a protective order against Din, said Lt. Paul Jaroscak.

Two attempts were made to serve it, but deputies could not locate Din, Jaroscak said.

There may be more to this story then domestic violence. From the article.....

"The relative said the abrupt departure - one that left the imam "in shock" - was driven by something more than his marital issues.

The imam, the relative said, had recently raised concerns about board finances, the exclusion of women from the board and the housing of "suspicious" individuals in the mosque".

Jihadis in Salt Lake City?

But the police tried to serve a warrant. So treehugger, are you implying that the Salt Lake Police Department is in cahoots with shady individuals at the local mosque? And remember, relatives of someone tend to support their kin, especially if they are close relatives. Either way, somebody's lying here. Let's not jump to conclusions though, although this premise would make for a great novel.

I live in the area and I never saw it mentioned on the news. I don't know about the Khadeeja Masjid but the one on 7th east in S.L.C. used to be run by the saudis and the imam didn't speak english and had his beard dyed red. The Kadeeja Masjid is relatively new and looks like a fortress to me.

What do you mean "future" armory. I would be very surprised if they didn't have all kinds of neat little rooms in the basement.

Also, it is situated off the beaten path so it can't be seen from Redwood Road. You would have to know where to look.

Caterpillar sells all types of earth moving machines. I’m sure they have one that cures basements too.

Know your neighbors.

So they've invaded Salt Lake City too, looking for Mormon converts no doubt. The savage hordes choose odd places to settle, but I'm sure there's a rhyme and reason for their migration to certain areas.

It's hard to believe that muslims are in every state now, even Alaska. Right after 9-11, I remember reading on a message board that muslims were going to take America, one state at a time. A muslim made this statement, of course. I think it's safe to assume that they have a plan and that they choose their locales very carefully. They seem to be targeting smaller towns and cities now, spreading out more and more. I guess they need plenty of room for their spawn, and wide open spaces to train their jihadi armies.

Poetry doesn't require the element of surpise to be poetry. This terse account of Imam Din's termination is poetry.

I wonder what the officers did during their 4 hrs at the crime scene. Clean up a little, perhaps?

'The imam, the relative said, had recently raised concerns about board finances, the exclusion of women from the board and the housing of "suspicious" individuals in the mosque.'

Uh-oh, jumping the gun again. You guys can't use your wives as punching bags until AFTER you take over the entire country. Silly goose.

First, I thought of the old joke, tailored for the article:

Q: What do you call a Muslim woman with two black eyes?
A: Hard of hearing.

Then I thought about burkas.

Re: Utah imam is fired amid rumors of domestic violence

Muslim "family values". This is the tip of the iceberg. Bet on it.

Muslim on muslim violence, popcorn please!!!

wrathofasma-

It certainly could be a diversionary tactic on the part of the Imam's relatives.

However, I could also picture a scenario where a good muslim wife would swear out a warrant against her noncooperative "moderate" husband.

Remember the gal in Toronto who wanted a prenup that required her new husband to undertake Jihad?

Muslim women can be pretty bloodthirsty and dangerous. Look at Um Nidal, who has sent three of her six sons (so far) off to blow themselves up-telling them "don't come back". She won't get my vote for mother of the year.

What's a little perjury to the true Jihadi or Jihadette?

treehugger-

Oh yes lots of possibilities in this case. Hopefully if the wife is lying, the Salt Lake City PD will figure it out and not be influenced by outside forces, especially money from Saudi Arabia. I hope justice prevails but the corrupt have their dirty fingers in every pie in society (judicial system, the media, law and order) that truth is hard to find and justice is hard to get.

Why am I not surprised? One surprise is that it actually got printed in the Salt lake "LIB". Most of the people in the newspapers here are very good little Dhimmis. About that "protective order"; it is a legal requirement in this state and many others that if there is any evidence of domestic violence, that the police have to file it if the "victim" doesn't. Wonder why the police didn't send a detail to the airport which is less than two miles away?

Jerome, no kidding, that's why I got the news from Jihad Watch. I don't even read the local papers.

Again, I must apologize to you RS, for posting things not congruent with the spirit of this site. My smart alec remarks are a character flaw I seem to repeat with regularity, here and in my personal life. My apologies to you too dms.

First we can't marry more than one (this is Utah you know) and now we can't beat them. This is preposterous!

Unbelievable. You guys are insane to link terrorism with a domestic violence case. And STOP bad mouthing muslims, just because they are muslims. No doubt the religion is hijacked by handful of terrorists, that does not make every muslim terrorist, and does not make every mosque FORTRESS. Just because there are white supremist, doesn't make all of you whites racist. Just because some chirstian blew up OK Fed building, doesn't make all Christians (including Mormons) terrorist. THINK AND OPEN UP YOUR MIND. I am Muslim and an American. I am also a regular attendee at the mosque in West Valley. Rest assured there are no secret basement rooms. You dummys are welcome to visit the mosque. It's open to the public. PEACE.

"No doubt the religion is hijacked by handful of terrorists"

....This is a lie.....

Worth Repeating::;

..."Fitzgerald: Tips for visiting a mosque
Before visiting a mosque, please google the phrase "taqiyya and tu-quoque" and arm yourself with knowledge. Be prepared to ask -- sweetly, in an Infidel-Wants-to-Know Mode -- about Muhammad's marriage to Aisha when she was nine, about the assassinations of Asma bint Marwan and others, about the massacre of the inoffensive Jewish farmers of the Khaybar oasis, about the decapitation of 600-900 helpless prisoners of the Banu Qurayza, and about so much more. Be sure to mention the Hadith.

Do not let the presentation to those Infidels (hmmm, doesn't that spicy chicken and that pita, and then the honeyed dessert, all waiting for us afterwards, smell good, I can't keep my mind off it, how nice these people are, what good hearts they have to invite us in to share their food and their faith) be allowed to finish without making the most that you possibly can out of that "question time." And bear in mind that you will only be called on once, so you had better have your questions ready -- not really to be answered, but so that they can provoke thought and unease in your fellow Infidels who have come, unlike you, without any mental weapons whatsoever.

Ask about the relevance of what Muhammad did and said for today's Muslims. Ask why he is called in the Qur'an "uswa hasana" and in Islamic tradition "al-insan al-kamil"? If told such things as Muhammad's marriage to Aisha must be "put in the context of their times," don't forget to ask why virtually the first act of Khomeini in Iran was to lower the marriageable age of girls to nine.

Oh, and ask about the concept of the "Dhimmi." Ask what was required of Christians and Jews as non-Muslims under Muslim rule. What did they have to do, in order to remain alive, as "Protected People," rather than dead, as Unprotected People, or to prevent their being forcibly converted -- as opposed to the slow conversion, over time, which was usually the only way open to them to escape the onerous, sometimes unendurable situation of being a dhimmi.

And afterwards, when the talk and question time have come to an end, and when other Infidels come up to you, quietly, to thank you for speaking up and speaking out, and expressing their own inarticulate unease, tell them a few of the books you have read. Tell them about Bat Ye’or, Ibn Warraq, Spencer and Bostom. Tell them of this and other websites (www.faithfreedom.org, www.dhimmitude.org, www.answering-islam.org, for a start). Agree to take their names and phone numbers or emails, and to send them a further list so that they, too, will not merely rely on the nonsense and lies fed to them by the soft-voiced propagandists.

Be sure, that evening, to count how often those propagandists mention something about "the three abrahamic faiths" and the "three monotheisms" that "have so much in common." See how often one of the Muslims present tries to use crocodile-sympathies to deplore the mistreatment of Jews by Christians, as opposed to what he will claim is the "tolerance" of Islam, and do agree with him on one point: that Islam manages to mistreat all non-Muslims.

See if there is any mention of Hindus, or perhaps bring with you to the evening a Hindu colleague of the completely unfoolable kind, so that his mere presence in the audience will unnerve the speaker and others. See if there is mention of the 60-70 million Hindus murdered under Muslim rule, and if not, point out that strange omission sometime during the evening.

Oh, and after that? When you all go to the room with the steaming table of that chicken (or lamb) and pita bread and that delicious baklavish dessert? Go right in, along with the other Infidels, mingling with the handful of Muslims in that mosque who agreed to come out that night and agreed to allow the defilement of their mosque by these Infidels, for it was all in a good cause: defending, shoring up, the Faith, until such time as it becomes strong enough here and in other Infidel lands, so that no more Mosque Outreach, no more phony politeness and sweet reason, will be needed with these Infidels.

Break the silence of the lambs. But not by bleating. By studying in advance just enough about Islam -- enough to make things hot that night in the mosque, and not only for that waiting chicken, that pita, that rice.

"Just because some chirstian blew up OK Fed building"

"With the exception of the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995, notes Al-Qaeda authority Rohan Gunaratna, all major terrorist attacks of the past decade in the West have been carried out by immigrants. A closer look finds that these were not just any immigrants but invariably from a specific background: Of the 212 suspected and convicted terrorist perpetrators during 1993-2003, 86% were Muslim immigrants and the remainder mainly converts to Islam. "In Western countries jihad has grown mainly via Muslim immigration," concludes Robert S. Leiken, a specialist on immigration and national security issues, in an important new monograph, Bearers of Global Jihad: Immigration and National Security after 9/11."

......There are reports of a Muslim connection with the Oklahoma City Bombing, but due to serious investigate flaws, the Muslim connection was not pursued...The fact that it was not pursued in no way indicates that it did not happen....
