Apparently angry with how his dinner was prepared, Imam Shuaib-ud Din on Jan. 2 punched and kicked his wife and beat her head against a freezer until the door broke, the woman alleged in a petition for a protective order.The next day, the imam - the recently fired religious leader of the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake - threw a kitchen knife at her and threatened to kill her, according to a petition for a temporary protective order filed last week by Ayesha Siddiqa Din.
The order, signed by 3rd District Judge John Paul Kennedy on Jan. 16, requires that the imam not contact his wife. It also requires him to stay away from their home and that he may not take his two children out of Utah, among other restrictions.
The allegations of abuse - and the Islamic Society board's reaction to them - have sparked a schism in the Muslim community, with many members criticizing the way the board has handled the situation.
Shuaib-ud Din was not available for comment Monday. But a family representative in Chicago, where he has taken refuge, insisted that while there were marital concerns, the allegations in his wife's petition are "lies," inherently one-sided and do not tell the whole story.

Speaking of "lies", did anybody bother to check the wife's head to see what kind of damage was done? It must be pretty hard if she could destroy a freezer door with it. I think science ought to look into what makes a Muslim woman tick. I mean, if this women could break a freezer door with her head, she is one talented Muslima. But then again, we've seen amazing Muslim women before. Remember the woman who was beaten to death last year by her irate Muslim husband? (I know, you're asking, which one?) She acted up, and wasn't preparing his dinner as a wife should along with other bad behaviors. So:
First, he admonished her. She persisted in being a bad wife.
Next, he refused to sleep with her (as if that would be a "punishment"!) until she would stop her unwifely behavior. But she continued to persist in her bad behavior.
Now, all bets were off and he could beat his wife (as he sees fit to interpret waidriboohunna ("scourge, beat")in Qur'an 4:34).

I checked and this group has no address other than a PO Box, and yours, and they even refer to your church on their website. http://www.ask-nisa.org/
They appear at joint fund raising events with CAIR, , and other radical muslim groups to "fundraise" for the abused muslim women. However, nowhere in the US are there any muslim shelters for abused women, and I do feel your church should inform the FBI. CALL 4-11 in our area and ask for the local office of the FBI. They would be the ones to investigate anyway.
This group, NISA,says they have a toll free hot-line, 1-888-ask-nisa but someone should call this who is an agent and speaks fluent Arabic, and this should be the FBI. I am wondering who calls this hotline, since muslim women are too afraid to speak out about their problems. My husband is a convert to Islam. I know much about the subject, since I edit his books, one of which is on the very subject of women who are abused by islam.
This so-called non-profit group seems to have no other goal than fundraising......I would think you would want to avoid notifying them, but let the FBI know, and the FBI should do all of the contact. You could interefere in something crucial to our security......if you do not simply ask the FBI to look into it.

Julie finally called NISA - she called for help. No one answered. Ten minutes later, she got a call from a woman who apparently called back on a cell phone. When asked about the number, the caller, Saha, said she "forgot to do the caller ID block, *67 before she called Julie." She said they always do that for "security reasons." This is understandable since muslim women would not want their husbands to know they had called a shelter. But Julie is wonering what would show up on caller ID if she got an incoming call from their 888 number....Maybe the name Sriram Gopalan? Would someone please have them return a call from their 888 number?
The cell phone number belonging to Sriram Gopalan, which "Saha" called back from each time, is (650) 930-0978..."Saha" said they only recently got cell phones. Most likely she was the designated person to take incoming calls for the hotline, and they are routinely forwarded to one or another's home phones. She said they have no shelter. No counsellors, and no advice other than to refer women to a local shelter....or to listen as a friend might. Saha said they have excellent shelters out there [government sponsored ones!!] but would not name one, when sincerely asked. The phone is registered to Sriram Gopalan. Who is Sriram Gopalan? He owns the cell phone that someone used to return my call to NISA, the North American Islamic Shelter for the Abused, a subsidiary of ISNA, the Islamic Society of North America, closely associated with CAIR.

The "hotline's" hours are listed from 10 am PST to 1 pm, a time when few women likely to be being abused. The website is truly focused on donations from the public, and I do not see any accounting where this money is going. They do not say how close they are to their fundraising goals for building a shelter.
There is almost no oversight of non-profit organizations when it comes to the money they receive or spend. Their web site does not say how much they have raised so far through CAIR, etc. and the Palo Alto Unity Church donation given to them back in October, 2006. I wonder who is watching the barn.

However, my initial call went unanswered, and I did not leave a message. I got a return call about ten minutes later from a woman who identified herself as "Saha." Her English was that of a native, or at least an immigrant who grew up in US schools. She claims to be Afghan. She indicated she was using one of their several cell phones to return my call...so I saw the number on my caller ID...(650) 930-0978. She indicated she should have used the *67 beforehand for "security" reasons.
Saha had no information whatsoever for my Pakistani "friend," an abused woman neighbor of mine....she took four hours to get the wrong information to me.....several emails and some phone numbers in my area of the country. None of them was viable. I called her back, and she looked on the Internet while we were on the phone, and found one local shelter to which she referred me.
I found that the registered owner of the cell phone has a number of other phones in the Bay Area, and numerous residences. My intrigue continued, as I saw that he listed his date of birth only as 1979, but claiming to be 31 years old. My calulations are he would be 27 if he were born in 1979.
I found discrepancies enough in the information I paid for, that I obtained an email for him from his Internet posts. I wondered if someone had stolen his identity. Being 28 years old would make him very wealthy if he owned all those buildings and condos I saw listed.
I saw that he was President of the Indian Cultural Society at the University of Missouri, Maryland chapter. More residences listed in and around the nation's capitol. He has numerous residences in Atlanta and other Georgia towns. He has relatives listed all over the USA...some in New Jersey.
At one point, his identity seems to shift to being 61 years old when he lived in New Jersey. Could there be several people using this ID?
He wrote Steve Forbes' blog on a Flat Tax, and claims he would support it if the Flat Tax were zero. He seemed to think zero taxes are the way to go. This is how I obtained his email address.
Now, are his residences non-profit, his cell phhones all non-profit, and his shelter non-existent? Maybe his vehicles and orther apparaysd are all considered non-profit as weel, since they can be claimed under some non-existent domestic violence shelter.

She must be a devout Muslim-those skulls have to be pretty thick for logic being unable to penetrate them. I figure the more devout the Muslim, the thicker the skull. Illah built his minions perfectly in order to resist sanity-he gave them a small brain for a target and encased it in those skulls as an extra precaution.

If Mrs. Din survives her divorce, it will be interesting to see what direction her life takes, post-Iman Din. Will she melt back into the Muslim community somewhere, or will she take off her burqa, burn her Quran, and join life in 21st century USA? If she takes the second path, could she or would she write a tell-all book about life in the "Muslim community" totally separate and hostile from the larger American city in which she lived. It would be an interesting book; but I have little hope that she will take that route.

She sort of did lie. Breaking the freezer door with your wife's head is NOT abuse according to Islam; it's Islamic law.

NOW THAT'S *GROSS*!!!
We really should not mock this poor woman. She was no doubt raised on the Islamic view of women, with which we are all familiar. Accustomed to being on the receiving end of all manner of theological abuse, restrictions and violence from an early age, how could she know how to react to her evil husband? Only when her very life was in danger did she seek protection. Even so, her whole community will probably turn their backs on her, and she is probably not educated or equipped to survive in the modern world.
If anything, those of us who oppose the tyrrany of Sharia should at least make a kind mention of her rather than making fun. What she, and millions of women like her need, is a place to run to where her abusive but oh-so-good Muslim husband can't get her. She needs the law to come down on him like a ton of bricks. A woman who has suffered at the hands of Sharia might actually make it out of this hateful cult. That means her and her children might escape, and serve as an example to other women imprisoned in Islam, even here in the west.

The schism could prove to be a good thing (depending upon why it's happening) She will certainly be shunned by many in her community .. and she has choices. If she chooses wisely, she can claim freedom as her own .. she does live in a free country now .. even if she does not practice a religion that values freedom.

We're not mocking her. We're so fed up and frustrated with the lack of sense on this subject, where Islam's practices are alien to our way of life and yet where we are having it shoved down our throats more and more. Everyone knows that in America women don't have to stay and take it, that there are places to go and people to help abused women. I worry about the restraining order for this woman though. It seems so many women with abusive husbands who get restraining orders against them end up dead. The fact that this woman has stood up to not only her husband but the whole Islamic establishment and made them look stupid in the eyes of average Americans does not bode well for her survival. And the fact that she's more than likely been brainwashed into thinking that Islam is great and that she has to stay in it is a third strike against her.
I am getting a chuckle though, out of the picture in my mind of the imam hiking up his skirt and high-tailing it out of town to Chicago. Oh how brave and courageous are Muslim men, without their swords, knives and little band of thugs to back them up.
