Cat Stevens, what a fu*** name, is a typical secto type personality. Yes, I saw an interview with him where he said he read the koran and thought it was the word of god. He was a messed up guy who had a lot of success for an ok voice and now he is just a brainwashed mess. I can't imagine that he thinks or questions anything in the unquestionable koran. I think his type might take comfort in not having to think and just have everything determined for you. I can't think of a single thing this man has ever done to increase peace in the world. If this prize is so prestigious, why have I never heard of it? I also find it pathological that you can drop your name and your old identity and assume a new name and a pseudo-holy identity. I mean, how sick (and phony) is that?

Has he or hasn't he stopped using that revertee last name? Did his agency figure that for marketing reasons, being simply "Yusuf" would attract more of that nice kuffar money, because, well, not all of them dirty kuffars and dancing slags see Islam as a train of peace?

Actually Erkki Tuomioja is the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland (Foreign Secretary).

I cannot imagine what Erkki the Red has done to deserve this award, but I suppose it has something to do with Finnish EU presidency coinciding with the Israel/Hizbollah crisis.

Mr Tuomioja used to have fairly outspoken anti-Israeli views, but he has mellowed them down a bit. But he's a socialist all right.

PS: Dolly Parton also had previously approached Yusuf Islam to ask if she could re-record his old hit Peace Train, and she did on a 1996 album. Even in 1996, Dolly Parton should have known better -- it was 7 years after the Salman Rushdie death fatwa, which Yusuf Islam supported.

Any of these deux-rivistes group with the words "Euro" or "Mediterranean" in the title are part of the series of quasi-governmental bodies forced on the Europeans (or, in some cases, willingly and idiotically accepted by them) by the Arabs. The idea is that there is a commonality of interest between the "deux rives" (two banks) of the Mediterranean, and that the only thing separating them is that body of water (and that's easily overcome, by all those Arabs from North Africa disembarking even now from their ships and planes to set up permanent camp in France, in Spain, in Italy). The real divisioin is that which Islam causes, but no one until recently was allowed to notice that.

The details are given in Bat Ye'or's "Eurabia" about these secret governmental or quasi-governmental agreements. By now many people in Europe have been aware that their ruling elites have betrayed them, but do not know exactly how, when, where. "Eurabia" helps tell them.

As for this absurd award, it apparently comes from some group that may or may not be a front for the Arabs. Its putative head is one "Michele Capasso" who looks like a complete naif (he should not be linked to the scientist Capasso at MIT who did receive one of the legitimate awards -- i.e., not for "services rendered to Islam" -- given by the King Abdul Aziz Foundation, or whatever that Saudi "Islamic Novel" enterprise calls itself. When it comes for the "servides to Islam" prize, then the likes of Carol Hillenbrand get it. John Esposito and Karen Armstrong cannot be far behind.

I remember in the 70's when Simon and Garfunkle sang 'Silent Night' overdubbed by the nightly news (featuring Vietnam body counts). I think a "Peace Train" overdubbed with the nightly news (featuring the jihadist death toll du jour, or maybe just focusing on the Rushdie affair) would also be an ironically telling statement.

Just as with Kentucky Fried Chicken becoming KFC so as to avoid the implications of its "signature dish" being deep fried, I think the reason for this latest bit of "rebranding" is pretty obvious. True there are a lot of dhimmis who want to see him as a gentle musician, devoted to human rights, who just happened to convert from Christianity to Islam for "spiritual reasons", but I think most people are pretty sceptical given his comments re: S. Rushdie and the fairly well known association with Hamas and other Islamic "charities".

Remember, he was being followed by a "moonshadow. Moonshadow, moonshadow." Perhaps that explains his strange conversion to worshipper of the moon god; kind of like the devil made him do it.
