Ahmadinejad: On February 11, Islamic Republic's nuclear rights 'will be established'

1938 Alert: "Iran: Giant achievements coming soon," by Yaakov Lappin in Ynet News, with thanks to James:

"Giant achievements" by Iran will be unveiled by its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in the coming days, the Iranian Fars news agency reported on Saturday. The Iranian news agency said an upcoming dramatic announcement on Iran's nuclear "rights" would be made on February 11. The report was accompanied by a series of announcements heralding alleged Iranian technological and medical breakthroughs, including an "AIDS cure."

Ahmadinejad's "administration is going to publicize the country's remarkable progresses and achievements within the coming days," the Fars news agency said.

"The Iranian president also reiterated that February 11 is the day when the Iranian nation's inalienable right to access and use nuclear technology will be established," the agency added.

Robert...Rafsanjani says US has planned to commit aggression on Iran ....
We are happy to witness that the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein who committed many crimes have been executed but we are dissatisfied with the current situation in Iraq which is much worse than that of Saddam," Rafsanjani said.
Given the US failures in Afghanistan, he said civil war in Afghanistan only created us many problems as masses of war refugees rushed into Iran and created us very problems.

The revolutionary Iranian nation will emerge successful from this psychological warfare too and will defend their rights, he pointed out.

"To us, martyrdom is the shortest way to come closer to Almighty God," he said www.irna.com

I bet they're going to annouce they figured out how to do radiation therapy for cancer patients.

Don`t these people worry about a possible six percent rise in temperature , less water and even
more deserts ?

A.I.D.S. = Ahmedinejad Iran Depravity Syndrome.
The cure: Bomb Iran.

I'm surprised that nutcase didn't announce his cure for global warming: nuclear winter.

Alladin

They think that by the time that happens they will have climes further north to emigrate to.

They wont - indeed, they'll have a whole lot of Muzbots FROM further north to look after in their own garbage tip, by then. Millions of them.

Does this news item has another source but Ynet? Some previous items of Ynet have been not accurate, 9/11 conspiracy-like or just completely false.

Off Topic - but here's the ONLY BBC report on the Pipes/Livingstone debate.

Can anyone translate from Arabic to English?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/arabic/press/newsid_6284000/6284993.stm

I got this from Up Pompeii

http://uppompeii.blogspot.com/

Who got it from Melanie Phillips.

Pass it around the web - someone somewhere can surely come up with a translation, to see how they spun it. Will probably give us an even better idea of where the beeb is coming from.

And THAT might be worth a post of its own, Mr Spencer.

Iran's claims of technological and scientific advances is the usual Islamic braggadocio. It reminds one of the boasts of Saddam.

Nevertheless, Iran's threats of our obliteration cannot be ignored. Iran is capable of inflicting heavy casualties on us.

We must not allow this to happen. We must show the rest of those arrayed against us that we will not stand there, waiting for the first strike.

Already emboldened by our lack of resolution to fight for our own survival--putting the welfare of our enemies above our own, our enemies are insulting our leaders and us before the entire world.

They see us as weak, irresolute, ready to to be taken from without and within.

Victory over our enemies is not only possible, it is mandatory. Do we want to give up without a fight? We must show that we have the moral fiber to destroy those who want to destroy us.

The blueprint for victory is simple.

Posted by: DrWolffenstein ......It was reported in the Iranian Fars news agency ....Ynet just picked it up.the story comes from Iran itself.

Don't worry, the struggle will be resolved soon. Hillary declared she WILL end the war in January 2009 if Bush dosen't. There, all our problems will be solved. I feel better now.

Jewdog says: "The cure: Bomb Iran."

It's easy for a Jew to make this comment, since most of the Persian Jews left the country over the last two decades (although there are still quite a few left...something like 20,000 of them). But there are over a million Christians in Iran. And while they can be annoying, the Bahai's are peaceful. Adn the Zoroastrians are also a peaceful and ancient group. So, unfortunately bombing Iran would not be a very good thing.

Posted by: Qualis Rex.......Should we just wait until Iran nukes Israel...is that o.k.?By the way Iran doesnt seem to care about their people..."To us, martyrdom is the shortest way to come closer to Almighty God," Rafsanjani .....They will kill as many as Hitler in one day....if given the chance...Too bad we dont have real leadership in this time of grave danger!

"To us, martyrdom is the shortest way to come closer to Almighty God," he said www.irna.com

I say we oblige them, send them on their way to their cult of death and let them join allah in hell.

"There are no more Winston Churchell's" Robert Spencer...that still gets me.

I think it's quite feasible to selectively take out Iran's nuclear facilities without excessive collateral damage.
I also think the Muslims in Iran are as worthy of consideration as the Christians, Bahais and Zoroastrians. Letting Borat Ahmedinejad launch a nuke would be very hazardous to everyone's health and even the possibility should not be tolerated.

What if he is correct? Then what? Any ideas out there? I had thought, till now, that we had plenty of time before they of the Muslim Religion were strong enough to really be a NOW threat! was I wrong? If so, how should I wiew the war in Iraq as anythig but a very good thing? If we are going to war, thank God most of our Army is in place right there where this Muslim religion is startin to make BIG war on us!!!!

Posted by: jud..........yes our army is in a place that the Islamice endtimes say Baghdad will be destroyed...maybe with a big bomb...to hasten the Mahdi's return.

"...including an AIDS cure." I wonder if Amadinajad's cure for AIDS is execution?

Does this mean Iran has the bomb? Has the West talked itself to the point that it is clearly a paper tiger and once again has done nothing. The U.S. did nothing as Pakistan, Korea and now Iran built nuclear weapons.

We can only hope the moment of an Iranian successful test the West will retaliate with Schwartzkoff force, one thousand times the megatons at hundreds of possible targets. The West needs to fulfill the fondest wish of the Iranians to get back to the good old days of the 9th century. Send them to martyrdom. Send them to the 9th century.

Such phrases as "invasion of Iran" and "attack on Iran" set up worries, based on the dismal experience in Iraq, that are unnecesasry. There need be no "invasion" of Iran, no entry of ground troops, nothing of the sort. Planes and missiles can inflict enough damage to set back efforts, for several years. And by then, the inevitable chaos and confusion in Iraq will keep the Islamic Republic of Iran so preoccupied, and the possiblity of unrest among Kurds in the north, Arabs in Khuzistan, and Baluchis to the west and Azeris in the north and center, that it will not be easy for the Islamic regime to expend as much effort on its nuclear project.

Not an "invasion" of Iraq. A bombing of certain sites in Iran. No need to expect or insist upon total destruction of every last component of the nuclear project. Just a whole lot of damage. No ground troops. No regime change. No bringing "freedom" to the Iranians. None of that. Just destruction of that nuclear project. A different thing.

Thanks, Hugh, just the clarification needed!!

If the Iranians want a nuclear reactor for the peaceful generation of electricity thats fine by me, if they want 10 nuclear reactors for the peaceful generation of electricity thats fine by me, if they want 1000 it's their money BUT if they make just 1 nuclear bomb the Iranian PEOPLE should know (this administration BETTER make it perfectly clear to them) there are 4 trident subs on station at all times in the Indian Ocean, with 24 missiles each with 8 to 10 warheads per missile, each warhead 300 to 450 kiloton thermo nuclear hydrogen bomb. Let the
Iranian people do the math. How many Iranian cities will be vaperized? This idiot president and this moronic administration had better let the Iranian people know upon verification of the Iranian bomb we will launch. Period end of conversation.

WLF...How would you know they have a bomb?...unless they use it....you have the same logic as the U.N.

Dina: ""...including an AIDS cure." I wonder if Amadinajad's cure for AIDS is execution?"

Same here. Wondering what "herbals" are actually poisonous if administered overdose. In any case, I hope the MSM publically demands that he put his money where his mouth his on that one come Feb 11.

Sir Henry Morgan

Hmmm... these Iran upsates are taking on a "Yup, any day now" feel. It makes me wonder what's really going on in Iran. We're being bombarded with constant Thug-in-Chief messages that say alot but mean nothing. There's no concrete updates. There's alot of threats and blustering but no actual tangible milestones. Just more "we're making progress and soon you'll all be dead." Is this an example of your classic Middle-Eastern waffling, all bark and no bite. Or is Imanutjob testing our guard?

Is he crazy like a fox?

JadeDragoness...Barking dogs do bite...and with Iran one bite could be all it takes....time for the pepper spray...so to speak.

Is he crazy like a fox?

Perhaps Ahmadinejad or his advisors have read some history.
Alexander the Great reached the Hydaspes river in India :

"As Poros was guarding the Hydaspes river (modern Jhelum) with his elephant corps, he prohibited Alexander from making a crossing. For about two weeks - according to Robin Lane Fox - Alexander moved his troops up and down the western river bank. And Poros followed suit - until the Indian king became tired of all these false alarms. When Poros was finally 'lulled into sleep', Alexander left officer Craterus with a substantial body of troops in base camp. In secret the hard core of Macedonian forces crossed the river overnight."

storagemanager:
1) they jump up and down proudly declaring "we have the bomb", we believe them and launch

2) they test one (to make sure all the peices are in the right places), we launch

3) they use it, we launch

The most important thing is to make it crystal unmistakably clear to the Iranian people what the cost will be. The Iranians are Persians, not Arabs and like the Kurds tend to be moslem light. But what I am sure is that this president, state dept. and administration is totally completely and utterly unable to make it crystal unmistakably clear to the Iranian people what the cost will be if they make the bomb. As such Iran WILL make and quite possibly use the bomb our "Chamberlain" state dept. will make sure of that.

I wouldn't worry too much about all this bluster; an enemy will never really tell you their true strength or weakness.

Iran is nothing compared to the NAZI war machine of ww2; and they had all kinds of dream weapons such as the buzz bombs, Me 262's, and blue-prints for an a-bomb. All of it kept secret and introduced with no advanced warning or for fanfare until it was first seen in combat.

When an enemy is weak; he wants to appear strong; when he is strong, he feigns weakness.

This grand announcement is nonesense for the masses which is why it was put out for public consumption in the first place.

A couple of things:

Hugh is correct, Iran can be dealt a serious blow with a "long arm" approach and not set foot there.

ImaNut will continue his rhetoric to keep the pot stirred with announcement after announcement, just under the trip wire, which spreads more fear, however, no one will find it serious enough to act. Bear in mind the cut and run philosphy in the US today. This signal is just what ImANut was hoping for. He thinks America has no back bone anymore.

Thus, all the while, he buys more and more time to destroy Iraq and continue building his allies and weapons systems. And we'll give him lots of time, especially the UN. So while some (PCs, Dems, SPs etc) conclude this guy is simply just a nut case, while we are still half asleep and unguarded, the rhetoric will someday suddenly turn into a big surprise without warning, a surprise no one will like. A very cunning agenda this guy has, no doubt.

Especially in time of war, no one in a dangerous country can claim immunity from the consequences of the country's government. A threatened country should never give priority to the civilians of the enemy country over the lives and freedom of its own citizens--and this includes soldiers also. Such policies should also govern the rules of engagement of soldiers. The jihadis count on our not being willing to accept this. It is indeed this vice of ours that they are counting on every single day. If and when we reject this vice, world jihad can be over in a month and Ahmadinejad would't last a day. But, he's evidently quite confident that we and Israel will stick to our suicidal ways. What rights does Iran have? None! There's no such thing as "tyrant rights." What are the consequences for us? More death! But, you already know this.

this administration BETTER make it perfectly clear to them) there are 4 trident subs on station at all times in the Indian Ocean, with 24 missiles each with 8 to 10 warheads per missile, each warhead 300 to 450 kiloton thermo nuclear hydrogen bomb,

I hate to nitpick, but depending on which Ohio class subs are in the region, and their loadout, Each missile may be armed with any of the following configurations...(and probably a few more variants that very few people know about)

Mk 3mirv 6 x 10-40KT, W-68 warheads
Mk 3max 14 x 100KT, W-76 warheads
Mk 4mirv 8 x 100KT, W-76 warheads
Mk 21mirv 10-12x300KT, W-87 warheads (only found on the newest D-5 Tridents II's)

I don't know what it's like now, but back in the day, the W-68's were the fireworks of choice because of their selectable yield. It may seem like a no brainer to choose the larger payload. After all, who'd only want 6 warheads when the same reentry vehicle can hold 14? The answer is in application, the W-68's held some other gear, for those special times when you care enough to send the very best.

Sorry to nitpick, but might as well have have accuracy on our side.

If we bomb the nuke facilities, I hope we take out the Republican Guard and security forces facilties as well. Might give the Iranina people a chance to perform their own regime change.

if iran sets off a nuke, watch for israel to destroy the major military and scentific areas of iran

and then the shiite hits the fan in America.....

war is coming........it will not be stopped.......

prepare, be armed be ready..............

The Texican.

The Neville Chamberlain brigade and the depraved far-left, not to mention the rose-tinted spectacled neo-Druidic Church of England and of course other "faith" groups are alarmed at the prospect of the USA (as well as the UK and Israel?) confronting the Islamofascist republic of Iran over its sinsister nuclear ambitions.

Once again, we have "peace in our time". To strike at Iran's nuclear facilities would be "disastrous". But in the minds of the appeasers and nihilists, it would be far better just to allow the anti-human regime in Tehran to get its way, and possibly become the world's first (nuclear) suicide state.

Report from the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/6330353.stm

"Iran strike 'would be disastrous'
President George Bush and Tony Blair
The report's authors want Tony Blair to put pressure on the US.

A coalition of organisations has warned Tony Blair any military action against Iran would be disastrous.

Leading charities, faith groups and unions are urging the prime minister to put pressure on the US to enter talks with Tehran.

In a report, they say Britain should be doing all it can to avoid the "unthinkable" consequences of war."

I support an air strike on Iran for two reasons:

First, it would prevent them from going nuclear.

Second, and more importantly, Hezbollah cells would likely be activated stateside, ending this charade before things get worse.

Texican is right, if we get hit hard enough, there may be restrictions on sales of guns and ammunition stateside. It is best to be prepared today. You never need a gun until you need one 'really bad'.

Cheerfully yours;

The French President said -

Before any rockets/missiles reach the athmosphaere Iran will be flat.

We should pull our American troops out of the Middle East and MAKE each country responsible for cleaning up the terror cell that are operating in it. Give them 1 year...after the year is up if there are ANY terror attacks on US soil or that of our Allies then MAKE THE THE COUNTRY WHO HARBORS THESE CRIMINALS RESPONSIBLE and launch a FULL RETALITORY STRIKE AGAINST THEM!

Why make US troops responsible for weeding these delusional nuts out inside of someone else's land? MAKE EACH COUNTRY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR TERRORISTS!

These God fearing people (I don't care what faith you are) cause more murder and destruction than any other people on Earth.
Religion is a cancer and the patients are all going mad!

Too bad we can't burn the nuthouse down.
The world would be a much better place.

The nutcase needs to be taken out with notice or warning. He needs to be terminated. The good thing is someone generally knows where he is on Friday.

Quite simple: wait until the 11th. If Ahma-nutjob announces that Iran is in possession of the bomb, then bomb Iran into the dark ages and BASTA.

I sense that most americans are beginning to lose patience over this bullshit, and I am one of them.

Can't we send them an early Valentine's Day present?

Not if these folks have their say...

A Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee is cautioning Republicans against blocking a vote Monday on a resolution opposing President Bush's troop increase in Iraq, saying it would be a "terrible mistake."

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2849186

Does anyone else think the troop increase in Iraq might be strategically planned to fight the inflow of Iranian fighters into Iraq after we nuke Iran?

I wonder.

The ONLY secret weapon the islamofascist have that we need fret over is the Condi Rice class of weapons.

That includes the deadly Tony Blair class, the Clinton class, and the French class weapons.

These are the weapons that will destroy whole civilizations with a stroke of a pen!

These asshats sure are hung up on the 11th as the date of everything aren't they?

The West cannot possibly bomb Iran now...they may inadvertently destroy the AIDS cure.

The AIDS claim is, of course, absurd. But lets say for the sake of argument that he made a deal with the devil and actually HAS a cure.

The world would regard him as the savior that has come to lead us all to a brighter tomorrow.

Revelations anyone?

Ok, enough of my end-times wild speculation... the whole claim is ridiculous, (but decent food for thought)
