Paul Belien at The Brussels Journal (thanks to C.) reports on more European cultural surrender:
The Amsterdam authorities have announced that a large cross, which was removed from in front of a supermosque that is currently being built in a western suburb of the city, will be put back in its original place once the construction works are over in a few years’ time.Last week we reported on the decision of the Amsterdam borough of De Baarsjes to permanently remove the white cross which served as a memorial to the Second World War. The cross, with the inscription “Aan hen die vielen” (To those who fell), was situated in front of a place where a huge mosque – the Westermoskee – is currently being built. The cross was removed for the building works, but the authorities decided they would not put it back afterwards and would replace it by a “neutral” memorial, at the price of 50,000 euro.
According to the authorities the cross was offensive to the Muslim and Jewish communities, who had objected to the cross as a war memorial. “The cross is seen as a reference to Christianity. I can understand this,” the local (Christian-Democrat) councillor, Jan Voetberg, said.
However, news of the decision led to an outcry, which prompted the local council to renege on its decision. The local council was swamped with protests from all across the country. While the Pakistani, Moroccan and Turkish communities had, indeed, asked for the removal of the memorial, the Jewish community said it had never objected to the cross. On the contrary. Bloeme Evers, an Auschwitz survivor, said he was shocked by the demand. Three years ago a war remembrance ceremony at the memorial was disrupted by Moroccan youths shouting anti-Jewish slogans....
Just another day in Eurabia.
When they do put it back I wonder how long it will take to be destroyed and defaced by the Islamonazis as they come out of their mosque tanked up on a sermon of jihad and hate for the kuffa.
"The cross was removed for the building works, but the authorities decided they would not put it back afterwards and would replace it by a “neutral” memorial, at the price of 50,000 euro."
....Surely a white flag does not cost 50,000 Euros...
"According to the authorities the cross was offensive to the Muslim and Jewish communities, who had objected to the cross as a war memorial."
This reminds me of the 'racist' pork soup controversy in France.
It's good to see the Jewish community refusing to allow their name to be co-opted for an islamist cause in this case.
I'm still waiting for the Sikhs and Hindus in the UK to take a strong stand against the 'South Asian' (read: Muslim) label.
The cross is seen as a reference to Christianity.
And what would be wrong with that? Do those Pakistani, Moroccan and Turkish communities respect other religions or don't they?

-- from the article about the removal, by "the authorities," of a cross from a Dutch war memorial after protests by Muslims [and non-existent Jews]
"According to the authorities the cross was offensive to the Muslim and Jewish communities"
What a crock of sh*t everyone knows that they only threw in Jews so it doesn't look like they're being bullied my their Muslim community.
I wonder how the Muslims feel about being lumped in with them.
The only things to be EVER removed are the mosques, and those inside them.
We have to stop being afraid of standing up for our Christian symbols and culture.
Last year in Sydney we saw a resurgence of symbols during Christmas, where previously we had been fooled into believing it was right we should forsake what we believe o keep others happy and calling it multiculturalism.
If anyone comes to Australia they have to tolerate the fact that the dominant culture is Christian based and therefore they will be exposed to Christian ideas and values and symbols at any time.
"According to the authorities the cross was offensive to the Muslim and Jewish communities, who had objected to the cross as a war memorial."
....................................
Yeah--odd that there haven't been (one presumes) any record of complaints from the past half-century or so from Jewish people, but when a huge Mosque goes up across the street the complaints start coming in. But if the complaints are seen as coming from both Jews and Muslims, it just sounds like non-Christians having a religious symbol imposed on them.
It is only when your read further in the article that you learn that the only problems Jews have had at this memorial is from Muslim "youths" disrupting the event by yelling anti-Jewish slogans, not from the presence of the memorial's cross.
Chip, chip, chip, chip. Presto, Islam everywhere.
I would like to see this issue get some press in Canada. There is a strong Canada/Netherlands connection here as the Canadian army liberated Holland in WW II and that monument would be largely dedicated to fallen Canadian soldiers.

And Canada was a major recipient of those who emigrated from the Netherlands in the wreckages of WWII. I've known several Dutch-Canadian-Americans (they later immigrated to the US, where I met them) -- including two gentlement who were prisoners during WWII, one of the Germans and one of the Japanese. Given the tens of thousands of Dutch immigrants to Canada during the post-WWII years, I can only imagine many similar stories are told in Canada.
There are jew who in fact hate the christian cross an what it stand for as they donot like Jesus at all. So some jew have compliant is valid.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Is there a Moslem here trying to drive a wedge between Christians and Jews by hinting that while Moslems have appropriated Jesus as one of their Moslem "prophets," Jews do not recognize him as such?
My grandfather parashooted into Arnhem to help take the "bridge too far".
He was personally honoured in a ceremony in the eighties by the dutch government,he was even the face of a documentary at the time.
I'm afraid it will take a few units of british paras to rescue most of Europe for a second time.
That's if there not tied up somehwere in crapistan fighting a civil war for ingrates.
From payingattention:
"We have to stop being afraid of standing up for our Christian symbols and culture."
But this cross isn't just a Christian symbol - it's a memorial to the millions who died fighting against tyranny in WW2.
This story makes me so bloody angry. Why are the rulers and officialdom of Europe, a continent whose citizens paid for its freedom with their blood just three generations ago, so willing to give up those freedoms so meekly today? Why are WE, the people of Europe, letting them get away with it?
These Muslims are only able to be in our countries because of the sacrifices our grandfathers made. That the authorities should falsely claim that Jews had also complained about it, just because they were afraid to admit that it was yet another Muslim attack on our culture. The scum.
Surely time is coming for a Europe-wide revolt against the Dhimmis who are surrendering our countries to a people who seem intent on becoming Europe's new Nazis. Stop paying taxes, stop obeying their rules, stop complying in our own destruction. Because if we don't, then in future it will be our children and grandchildren being packed onto the trains heading for Auschwitz (by then renamed Al-Ashweeza).
Last time I looked the Cross was a Christian symbol. It's used on the graves of basically anyone who has died as a christian , however nominal they may be.
"I'm afraid it will take a few units of british paras to rescue most of Europe for a second time."
....or is it the third time.....no matter...let's pray the Europeans wake up in time to save themselves....there are some positive things going on in Europe these days...By the way, it appears the British will be withdrawing from Iraq soon...Give the returning troops a warm welcome home....they performed well and honorably....
