Iranian President Mahmoud Adhmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar Assad on Saturday vowed to form an alliance against what they called U.S. and Israeli conspiracies against the Islamic world.Iran's ISNA news agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying that the Islamic world in general and Iran and Syria in particular should maintain their vigilance and neutralize conspiracies aimed at sowing discord among Muslims.
Ahmadinejad said that what the U.S. really aims for under the pretext of development in the region "is just another effort to strengthen its own status and that of the Zionists."
The Iranian president also praised the agreement by rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah to form a unity government.
"Dispute among Muslim factions has always been harmful for regional nations and useful for Islam's enemies," he said.
ISNA quoted Assad as saying that expansion of Tehran-Damascus ties would help resolve the problems of the Islamic world. He accused the U.S. of trying to attract public opinion within the Islamic world by undermining Iran-Syria relations.
"America's policies have failed in the region ... By creating divisions among Muslim nations, Washington wants to pursue its aims," IRNA quoted Assad as saying during his meeting with Ahmadinejad, who urged "Muslim countries to preserve unity."

I can only imagine the reason neither we nor Israel have taken out their nuclear facilities is because we're waiting for them to waste as much money and resources on the project as possible before we blow it away. It occurs to me that if the Hezbos again rocket attack Israel, that the next time Israel may also stike back at Syria. Since attacking Iran is a far away target, why not go after Iranian ally and Hezbo supporter next door--Syria? Hezbo arms come thru Syria. That is air attack on infrastructure of Syria. Would do tremendous damage and might even bring down Assad.
Actually I can respect these guys for being open and honest about their hostility towards the US. At least we know what to expect. They have now admitted what everyone already knew. Now that we know, the evidence is there for all to see. No claims of faulty intelligence, no claims that the reasons for war were trumped up in the inner circle of this administration. No bloviating about no WMD's, no reasons for this war, etc. These two have been outspoken and declarative about their intentions. How much plainer talk do we need? How much clearer do they need to be? A bully walks up to you and tells you "I'm going to punch you in the nose!" Do you believe him and fight or run or do you ignore his threat? He's going to hit you, now the choice is yours. Same scenario.
The demoncrats think it is all a game, they think the threat is nonexistent. Well, here is the threat. President Bush certainly didn't pay these guys off to get them to further his agenda, did he?
