....well, you know...at some point of time in the prisioners life, he had the option of obeying the law, behaving like a human being, and generally being a contributing member of society....well, he chose the wrong option and elected to be violent, hateful, and destructive...he does not deserve any special treatment after being sent to prison....if fact after his prison term is completed , he should be deported....

Being a resident of Brisbane (for those unfamiliar with the layout of Australia that's the state capital of Queensland) this is disturbing indeed - although slightly less so for those of us who are single and childless and planning to remain so.
This man has the same rights that I do. If I committed the same crime, I'd do the same time and while inside I would have to eat whatever the hell the prison authorities decided to serve me. If this fellow chooses to waive that right (the right to three full squares a day while incarcerated) then he shouldn'tget to replace it with one that he feels he might like more. For any reason.
Mr. Ato, you are quite correct. If you can't do the time . . . part of staying in a horrible old prison, along with sitting in a horrible old prison cell and mixing with horrible old prison residents, is eating horrible old prison food.
That's just part of "doing the time" and if you can't then all the more reason not to do the crime.

Actually I don't live in that state, but in this case messages from another state citizen (like me) may have a federal, rather than state impact.
Queensland is large, not a huge population.Lots of bananas, pineapple, sugar and tourism (and more), which I think could be the "hot button" for the govt, so non-Queenslanders may have some impact.
Emirates airline now flies into this state, and others, and there are many muslim tourists there as well as from other countries.(A lot of Japanese, but don't know if this is still true).
Sheik yer'mami lives there so maybe he will come and add stuff. I know he is concerned as they are planning to build a mosque in Cairns.

Or maybe we could just put goats into the cell with them. They could have sex with it and figure out how to halal slaughter it themselves right there (sorry, no razor sharp knife four times the neck width, though) and send it to the prison in the next town, reciprocating the efforts. Here in Ontario Canada there are no pork products allowed in any jails. Been that way for years. You all know why.
