Canada: Sharia law still not dead

In "Sharia law still not dead" in the Toronto Sun, Christina Blizzard (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair) reports that a bad proposal is nevertheless still alive in Canada:

A curious delay in proclaiming into law changes aimed at shutting down the use of sharia law in this province is cause for alarm for one Muslim spokesperson and an MPP demanding to know why the government is dragging its feet.

Amid a furor over a proposal to allow sharia law to settle civil disputes, more than a year ago Attorney General Michael Bryant issued a press release saying proposed amendments to the Abitration Act would mean there would be "one law for all Ontarians."

Oddly, although the changes were passed Feb. 14, 2006 and given royal assent shortly thereafter, they have not formally been proclaimed into law.

Bill 27 said, among other things, that third party arbitrators could only serve as advisers in civil cases. Some parts of the bill have been made law, but the key provision outlawing religious arbitration have not. In 2005, pressure was building to allow sharia law, a 1,400-year-old set of Islamic laws covering legal and family issues, be used to settle civil disputes -- including family law settlements -- in this province. Women's groups protested that sharia law is often oppressive towards women and they worried in the power imbalance that often occurs when religion is allowed to dictate law, the rights of women and children would be trampled. And moderate Muslims feared the power of the imams they had come to Canada to avoid would follow them even in this country.

"There is one family law for all Ontarians and that is Canadian law," Bryant said in a press release dated Nov. 15, 2005.

Or at least there should be. Read it all.

Do not allow Islam to creep in anywhere.....no ifs, ands, or buts...

Oy vey, Canada!

The problem is not, necessarily, faith-based tribunals. It's how the Muslim Islamists wanted to use these tribunals. The Islamists are the problem, now all the other religious communities are required to suffer. Get the Islamists out of the country, then maybe things can return to normal.

Nothing will happen now in the short term as an Ontario election is scheduled for later this year.

"A spokesman for Bryant said the law hasn't been proclaimed because the "nuts and bolts of the regulations" are still being worked out with religious leaders."

It is absurd that "religious leaders"* would be consulted at all.

*Unelected theocrats--in this case those are mainly Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim leaders--who are, as their statements show, cooperating to bring in sharia. This whole sharia fiasco is due to a combination of (a) some far-leftist militant multiculturalists, namely the NDP, who introduced this thing in the first place; (b) the Islamist organizations and the approximately 35% of Muslims in Canada who want sharia and who pushed for it and who continue to push for it; (c) some religious right-wing conservatives who think anything religious--especially "Abrahamic"--must be good; and (d) the aforementioned cooperation between Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim groups on such issues as religious law and religious schools.

" "They will be signed, sealed and delivered this spring," said Greg Crone."

After the aforementioned unelected theocrats have had their input to ensure that the maximum amount of sharia that can be squeezed in will get in.

Sharia law is not just a religious set of values but more importantly a political one as well. There is no such thing as seperation of church and state in Islam, they are one and the same. Whats down the road? Honor Killings, Beheadings, Stoning women to death. Please don't let this happen Canada, you'll be opening Pandora's box if you do.

How long before infidel women have to cover themselves when they go into Muslim areas of Toronto. Gee, I better tell my relatives to get some headscarves the next time they go to the local sari boutique.

Once sharia laws enter the political scene in Canada, they will slowly but surely apply to all of us. It's unbelievable and unbereable to see where this world is heading to. I imagine and damn sure see it and it doesn't smell good. Thanks to the cult of ignorance (multiculturalism) and other islam's useful idiots, the pandora box will be open. To never be closed again. This country is dying.
