......Just what information could a terrorist obtain if he had access to all the confidential information regarding security and operations of these entities?....A plan of attack could be drawn up, key targets plotted for IEDs, rocket attacks, suicide car bombs, and even plain old guerilla attacks...Highways could be shut down, air traffic greatly diminished, railroads disabled and maritime activties closed....all of a sudden panic sets in.....but Don't Worry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Boxer, Dean, Murtagh, Kerry and Of course, Ellison, will be there to lead the way....(of course, they will blame the evil Republicans for allowing this to happen)...

So many Muslims are Khan men playing a Khan game. What kind of "religion" is this? Anywhere these creepy people are in the majority they are intolerant of all other religions. The whole belief-system is a rationalization for supremacist feelings, exploitation and deception of "the other". People are getting it re this "religion".

I wondered why when I researched all the rail 'incidents' through the transportation website, not one possiblity of sabotage. The number of 'operators fault' just seems way too high for an industry with such dedicated employees. Often people who work in the rail industry are second or more generation. They go into that line because they are nuts about trains, not because it is any easy way to make a living.

It is not just Suhail Khan. The person who is to be looked into, or about whom we already know quite enough from Gaffney's article and from other sources, is Grover Norquist. How can anyone conceivably continue to have dealings with him, much less serve with him, give him support, or even -- like Karl Rove -- apparently be his friend?

Do those doing this think such behavior is legitimate because "they are on the same side on some things" and "we don't get into that with Grover Norquist"? Do they? Do they think pushing for still fewer and fewer taxes on themselves (what their insensate personal greed has to do with "conservative" causes would be entirely unclear to such conservatives as Burke, D'Israeli, and Churchill)means it is okay to overlook what Norquist has been doing in the placement of Muslim operatives here and there and everywhere, with the results, in the policy we all see of spending $750 billion to make things nice for Muslims in Iraq the Model, in spending tens of billions more in Afghanistan, and $27.5 billion since 9/11/2001 on Pakistan, a completely meretricious "ally" in the incorrectly-named "war on terrorism," and the $60 billion so far to Egypt and billions more to the "Palestinians" -- and all this is made possible because the Administration, riddled with Norquist's friends, and at the top with Bush, the friend of Rove who is the friend of Norquiest, and that Bush who is a friend of Rove, who is a friend of Norquist, not only sets the tone by insisting that we are fighting only a "war on terrorism" which is a tactic only, that Islam is a "great religion" that "means peace," a man who selectively quotes from the Qur'an (522 but not 523) and in so doing misleads the public and, no doubt, himself, and with Grover Norquist still not shunned, still perceived as powerful, with Muslims allowed into the very positions where, in transportation safety, or in the Pentagon planning (what a nice touch it is to show that there is no suspicion by going out of one's way to have Muslims in the highest positions making policy involving the Muslim world, while their very presence inhibits frank discussion of how Islam, Islam tout court, must be divided, must be demoralized, must be weakened, and attempts made to widen the ethnic, sectarian, and economic divides among Muslims -- can you imagine policy-planners saying this in front of Zalmay Khalilzad, or any other Muslim, no matter how "moderate" or even "Muslim-for-identification-purposes-only" Muslim, he might be?

Someone in Norquist's group needs to contact the others. They need either to resign en masse, or to demand that Norquist resign. His activities and obvious sympathies have put him beyond the political, and other kinds, of pale.

Presumably, that had something to do with why when a White House access list of Muslims to be invited to meetings in the presidential complex was prepared, it actually had Norquist at its top.

Giving unfettered access to our nations most sensitive security detail to a member of mo's tribe is not only pure insanity, it is absolutely suicidal.

No small quibble about it. Playing the name game will gain nothing. The qur'an is viewed as the immutable word -

The word "Sufi" often conjures up, for non-Muslims, some otherworldy whirler, a dervish with a tall hat, or perhaps the love-poetry of Rumi, who in turn is confused with that Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury, and with Jonathan Liviingston Seagull, and Hesse's Siddartha (which has nothing to do with Islam), and Rama Krishna, and the Beatles in India, and love, sweeet love, and for all I know, Johnny Mathis, and teardrops, and valentines, and care bears, and all the rest of the sentimental crap that is sweeping over us, in a mix-n'-match horror, which is perhaps best embodied by Baba Wawa when in her interviews with Celebrities (those Great Men and Great Women of the Age), she manages to evoke or provoke, usually toward the end of the interview, those ready tears.

I don't know about other places, but in India, Sufism was a strategy to triangulate a movement between Islam and Hinduism (as though the 2 were moral equivalents), while slyly enticing adherents into Islam. Doesn't make it similar to other breakaway faiths, such as Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, or cults like Mahesh Yogi, Hare Krishna, Sai Baba, et al

I had a album of Turkish Sufi music -- there was a brief history in the Notes to the Album -- many of the authors of the music were persecuted (in Turkey), they were hunted down, thrown in prison, tortured, murdered (you know, the usual with respect to "tolerance" and Islam). Anyway, the music and the love poetry did survive (I thought some "pure" Islamics didn't like the Sufis because they thought the founders were tainted by mystical Christians and had picked up a little too much of that Kaffir stuff.) Then I later read that the Wahhbis (of the bin Laden variety) don't like the Sufis whirling' around with all that there "unification" with the Divine entity and all that ecstasy -- they figure it's just too gosh darn homosexual. (Then I re-read those liner notes for the album music -- and yes, -- it was like written in a code (couldn't actually say the word "homosexual", but hinted) -- then I understood why the Sufis were persecuted -- it was the same "problem" with the "love" of the Divine for non-Sufi Muslims, just too close to homosexuality...that was the problem and why the Sufis were persecuted (I suspect that one of the founders was, indeed, a homosexual, btw...at least, the liner notes pretty much stated this.)

Anyway, but there are Sufi Islamists (the one I'm thinking of is from Pakistan).

Indeed, Norquist married Samah Alrayyes, a Palestinian Muslim, on April 2, 2005, and Islamic law limits a Muslim woman to marrying a man who is Muslim. This is not an abstract dictum but a very serious imperative, with many "honor" killings having resulted from a woman ignoring her family's wishes.
