Turkish cops give the "hero treatment" to murderer who shouted "I shot the infidel" after killing Armenian journalist Hrant Dink. Tiny Minority of Extremists and Let Them Into The EU Alerts from The Guardian, with thanks to all who sent this in:
Outrage at the murder of the Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink deepened yesterday after the media showed images of the teenage murder suspect posing with the Turkish flag and security officials after his arrest. The government launched an inquiry into the footage, which newspapers denounced as "hero treatment" of the 17-year-old suspect.
Ogun Samast confessed to the January 19 killing of Dink, a 52-year-old journalist who had angered Turkish nationalists with assertions that the mass killings of Armenians around the time of the first world war amounted to genocide.
The images showed Mr Samast holding a Turkish flag and posing with officers, some in uniform, shortly after his arrest on January 21. Behind him a poster carries the words of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey: "The nation's land is sacred. It cannot be left to fate."
The Turkish media was outraged. "Shoulder to shoulder with the triggerman: suspected killer Samast was given the hero treatment," the Sabah daily reported on its front page.
Wow. Just like the Bali terrorists were treated like heroes in Indonesia.
I had no idea Turkey was so fucked up.
As I said, cohabitation cannot exist between Muslims and the Free World; not even if you look simular to their appearances. All this muslim crap is laced with heroin rage, all of their countries are controlled by drug !
The opposite drug alcohol, has the same chemical side affect: Formaldahyde. It's found in the brain of both type of addicts. It's also interesting to see that genetically, it can be passed down to their off-sping. So, spiritually and mentally, these two different races of people cannot co-exist.
Do we have an update on whether the Philly cops got that special dispensation so that they could have their beards? Just wondering about these special Moslem officers is all. You know, right here in America, that kinda stuff.
Reminds me of May 23, 2000: The murderers of two Leeds United fans were greeted by the people in front of the courthouse in Istanbul like this: "Turkey is proud of you!"
Of course, not all of Turkey thinks like that; but george_rem, Turkey is more fucked up than you can imagine...
My apologies for being off topic:

Dispite all the pro-Turkish Western media coverate of late, Turkey remains a backward Muslim nation. Make no mistake. Throughout the past 10 years, US has often praised Turkey as a "Secular Muslim" state. Even when the Islamic party won Parliament and the Prime Minister seat, the US and current administration just grit its teeth and smiled while saying "Congratulations". But Europe knows FAR TOO WELL that "secular" Turks are a myth. Honor Killings, Shari'a "courts" and Islamic-fueled violence are trademarks of Europe's Turkish communities. When Colin Powel told Europe they should welcome Turkey's admission into the EU back in 2002, the whole of Europe looked at him like, "Just what glue have you been huffing?"
There are parts of Turkey (namely the border with Syria) where Islamic fundamentalism is so strong, that it is off-limits to tourists. The Jacobean (Syriac) Christians remain highly persecuted there, where rape, murder and summary imprisonment by the authorities is commonbplace. Turkey's backward population (literacy is 86.5 and would be the lowest in Europe), violent Islamic and anti-Christian undercurrent and unwillingness to admit to their own attrocities throughout history make it impossible to be a member of the EU, as it contradicts so many EU values.
Ironically, one of Turkey's only EU supporters is actually Greece, who see Turkey's admission into the EU as a way for Greeks to regain land and territory that formerly belonged to them through legally sanctioned means.
I am reminded of folks on previous threads saying how great it is that Muslims are joining the military and police forces in western cultures.
Are you people out of your minds? What is it that you don't understand about Sharia law and the rights of non-Muslims to testify in a court of law against Muslims? Do you not understand that once Muslims comprise large numbers of the police forces that they are not going to listen to your grievances? That once Muslims make up a significant percentage of those people that you naive westerners have come to depend on to protect your rights (our police force being absolutely critical to defending civilized society against barbarians) - that your rights as infidels will go down the drain? What are you not understanding here? Do you understand that in Pakistan any Muslim can accuse a Christian of "blasphemy" for any trivial cause whatsoever and that that Christian can never ever get a fair hearing in a court of law? You stupid naive infidel idiots! Please just take a moment to imagine what lies in store for you when the bulk of your local policemen are actually Muslims!
Now I know why so many Europeans don't want Turkey in the EU.

Time for Pope Benedict Ratzinger to visit Turkey again and to pray toward Mecca and to tell the world Turkey should be welcomed into the EU! I still cannot get over that.
Turkey is one giant screwed up islamic cess pool. Notice the trigger of this murder--
"...a 52-year-old journalist who had angered Turkish nationalists with assertions that the mass killings of Armenians around the time of the first world war amounted to genocide."
Hey Pope, wanna go visit Ataturk's tomb again and call for peace with the muslims. Did you break wind on the Armenians' graves that you ignored?
The Turkish media felt so much outrage (sarc) that the murdererous Ogun Samast basked in it.
They couldn't even make it look good for the EU.

BB, please bear in mind that Pope Benedict is walking a tightrope here.
If he says too much, massive slaughter of Christians will ensue.
He is gently trying to raise awareness of Islam at the same time he tries to reconcile Christians and Muslims.
When he expressed support for Turkey to join the European Union, at the same time :
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15930093/
"But the German pope also hammered away at key points of his 18-month papacy, telling diplomats that leaders of all religions must “utterly refuse to sanction recourse to violence as a legitimate expression of faith.”
(When he) Mentions ‘disturbing conflicts’
He avoided mention of any specific religion, even as he decried terrorism and the “disturbing conflicts across the Middle East.”
Benedict also said guarantees of religious freedom are essential for a just society, and the Vatican said he raised specific issues such as property rights of Turkey’s tiny 32,000-member Catholic community during talks with Turkish officials.
His comments could be reinforced later during the four-day visit when the pope meets in Istanbul with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, the spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians.
The pope is expected to call for greater rights and protections for Christian minorities in the Muslim world, including the small Greek Orthodox community in Turkey."
And he recently did call for greater rights for Christians in Turkey.
http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0700351.htm
"The lack of legal status sometimes has made it difficult for the Catholic Church and other Christian communities to own and buy property officially and to build or operate churches, schools and hospitals."
Heck, Pope Benedict is doing more for our traditional Judeo-Christian heritage than all the rest of the "leaders" combined.
But, he has to tread softly...many, many Christian lives depend on it.
BB, I don't know if you are very uninformed or just a moron, but you are very wrong here.
First, the Pope MET with the Armenian Patriarch Mesrob II and actually brought up the Armenian genocide during his visit to Turky - something which FEW world leaders have EVER done.
Second, the Pope did NOT back Turkey's entry into the EU- the lying Muslim Edrogan SAID he did. There was never ANY quote from the Pope saying this. It was pure Muslim propaganda, and YOU FELL FOR IT.
The Pope was very clear about Turkey not entering the EU due to their lack of Christian values BEFORE http://www.cathnews.com/news/408/96.php and AFTER his visit, although they have not been released to the American press due to the outbreak of violence the LAST time he spoke out against Islam (remember how many people were killed, or do you have such a short memory?)
If you are going to buy into Islamic propaganda so easily, maybe you should consider bending over towards Mecca yourself...?
Look, I am no lover of Turkey, and I do not want it in the EU. However, all the people who shrieked their heads off in this thread do not seem to have noticed that it is TURKISH newspapers who are making a fuss about this scandal; that it was TURKS who came to the funeral of the unfortunate mr.Dinks in tens or hundreds of thousands; that it is the turkish government that has ordered an inquiry into the disgraceful behaviour of the security forces. Sure, fight the enemy, but be sure who your enemy is, first.

The following statement by the Vatican spokesman supports the view that Pope Benedict did NOT endorse Turkey's entry into the EU.
http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=8166
“This is outside the competence of the Holy See,” Father Lombardi stated, adding that nevertheless, “the Vatican looks positively on and encourages the path dialogue and of rapprochement in Europe on the basis of common values and principles.”
Perhaps the Vatican could have been less vague - but thousands might have died.
Perhaps the Vatican could have been less vague - but thousands might have died.
Yes, an excelent observation. Unfortunately this is the major set-back for the Vatican. In World War II when the Vatican spoke out against the Nazis, all Catholic converts from Judaism were rounded up and sent to concentration camps. And today when the Vatican speaks out against Islam, millions of Christians around the world in Indonesia, the Middle East, Africa etc are put at risk (as witnessed last year).
It's very easy for us to post our opinions (abeit misininformed in the case of "B.B. the blowhard") on the internet, but quite another for the spiritual leader of the majority of the world's Christian to openly denounce a group of people who can easily massacre Christians, for all intents and purposes held hostage within their borders.
Fairplay award goes to Paolo again!

if the pope wanted to raise awarness of islam he could have done it at the vatican

Very well said...
its easy to hide behind a computer screen with the safety of a anonymous name on a message board and rant about the way things "should be"...
Greek_girl, before you become the ultimate judge of the Holy Father try rereading the posts by mike_w and qualis rex carefully. Then THINK before you type....
The Turkish media was outraged. "Shoulder to shoulder with the triggerman: suspected killer Samast was given the hero treatment," the Sabah daily reported on its front page.
This is in fact encouraging news. I doubt that everyone working in the Turkish media is Christian or Jewish. It seems as if they are treating the murder of Hrant Dink as murder with an undertow of bigotry. The outraged Sabah Daily is salvaging Turkish honor.
Greek Gurl worte:if the pope wanted to raise awarness of islam he could have done it at the vatican
Why do people think they can post about things they obviously have no clue about? The PRIMARY PURPOSE of the Pope's trip to Turkey was to see Patriarch Bartholomew...YOUR GREEK PATRIARCH. Bartholomew was the one who INVITED the Pope to Turkey, NOT the Turkish government. The last Pope had been trying to reach out to the Greeks for over 15 years, but they were too busy squabbling amongst themselves. So, when Bartholomew finally sent the Pope an invitation to visit him in Turkey (Constantinople is the seat of the Greek church, like the Vatican is to the Catholic church) there was no way the Pope could refuse.
Once again, and make no mistake, the Pope went to Turkey to visit other CHRISTIANS. Edrogan at first said he wasn't even going to meet with him (he made an excuse saying he had a meeting out of town). He only relented and met with the Pope when he was told how this could be used to further Turkey's EU designs (and as we stated, he lied and said the Pope "supported" Turkey joining the EU when he NEVER stated that).
There is a saying about Greeks, which I won't mention here in the spirit of unity. So, prove that saying wrong and educate/inform yourself before you speak on subjects you obviously don't know about.
qualis well i didnt know that the the pope had been invited to turkey by Patriarch Bartholomew from what i knew was that the pope had visited turkey only to try and unite the orthodox church with cathoilic but thats beside the point. The thing that bothered me was when the pope prayed over ataturks grave how can the pope be trying to reach out to us like you say when he prayed over our opressors grave? and what do you mean the pope has been trying to reach out for us for the past 15 years?
and i dont care what the saying is about greeks but its obvously something negative from ignorant people like yourself
Greek Gurl whined: "well i didnt know that the the pope had been invited to turkey by Patriarch"
That's the point. You're full of "I didn't know" and "I don't care". If you don't know or care about a topic enough to educate yourself, then you should probably do everyone a favor and shut up.
Regarding the Pope praying at the mausoleum of Ataturk...that's what religious people do; pray. He prayed in silent, so chances are he was saying something like, "May God convert the Turks". He didn't say ANYTHING condoning the Turks, Ataturk or Islam by praying in silent at a grave. And as I said, the Pope made a public announcement against the Armenian Genocide twice on his journey in Turkey.
You Greeks are so full of hate and ignorance that you can't see when people are trying to help you. Until you stop your "backwards" thinking you will never catch up to the rest of European civilization.

To those who take issue with my disgust over Pope Benedict's sucking up to Turkey--and saying that I am misinformed--I suggest you check the record. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/28112006/325/pope-defuses-tensions-turkey.html
"Pope defuses tensions in Turkey Tuesday November 28, 06:28 PM
ANKARA (Reuters) - Pope Benedict told Turkey on Tuesday he backed its bid to join the European Union and believed Islam was a religion of peace, hoping to soothe rows overshadowing a delicate visit to the mainly Muslim country.
Asked about Turkey's EU entry bid, which Benedict opposed before his 2005 election as Pope, spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said the Vatican took no political stand but supported Turkey's entry "on the basis of common values and principles."
Now if all these new accounts were all fictious I stand corrected. I think the truth is that you all will accept any weak explanation of why this Pope feels the need to suck up to the muslims--sure he really helped the Armenians by asking about the genocide in private to an Armenian cleric--but what does he say in public? The silence was deafening--but oh, he prays at Attaturk's grave--the scum who finished the genocide for Turkey. Yes this Pope follows the tradition of those Popes who disowned Coppernicus and abandoned the Jews during the holocaust--all in the name of political expedience.
All the real Apostles to the Christian faith gave their lives for STANDING for the truth--they didn't back down for politics. If you want to defend this Pope's sucking up--that is your problem.
Well, BB, you sure know about sucking...

If the Pope speaks fully and clearly, the Pope won't be killed, it will be the unfortunately Christians in the middle east who will feel the reprisals. The Pope does not want to turn what is left of the Christian population in the ME into martyrs if that is not of THEIR choosing.
Big difference, but the people on this site share your frustration.
I should point out that Pope John Paul II used a similarly nuanced opposition to the Soviets when he was Cardinal/Archibishop of Krakow. He had to know how to push the issue without provoking the most dramatic response. I think this Pope is TRYING to follow in John Paul's footsteps.
Of course, the Soviets were a different animal, and I do not necessarily think the analogy holds in terms of the Pope being an effective factor against Islamo-facism.
