Immigration follies

Governor Ted Strickland speaks out against the Bush Administration’s immigration madness. “Strickland: No Iraq refugees,” from Associated Press, with thanks to A Girl Scout:

COLUMBUS – Gov. Ted Strickland on Wednesday had a message for President Bush: any plan to relocate thousands of refugees uprooted by the Iraq war to the U.S. shouldn’t include Ohio.

The Bush administration plans to allow about 7,000 Iraqi refugees to settle in the United States over the next year, a huge expansion at a time of mounting international pressure to help millions who have fled their homes in the nearly four-year-old war.

The United States has allowed only 463 Iraq refugees into the country since the war began in 2003, even though some 3.8 million have been uprooted.

Strickland, a Democrat who opposed the war as a U.S. House member, said Ohioans cannot be expected to have open arms for Iraqis displaced by the war. More than 100 Ohioans have been killed since the war began.

“I think Ohio and Ohioans have contributed a lot to Iraq in terms of blood, sweat and too many tears,” Strickland said. “I am sympathetic to the plight of the innocent Iraqi people who have fled that country. However, I would not want to ask Ohioans to accept a greater burden than they already have borne for the Bush administration’s failed policies.”

The decision to allow about 7,000 Iraqis to come to the United States answers mounting political and diplomatic pressure on the administration to do more to remedy the consequences of a war it largely started. Only 202 Iraqis were allowed in last year.

The administration also said it will immediately contribute $18 million for a worldwide resettlement and relief program….

The U.S. proposal also includes plans to offer special treatment for Iraqis still in their country whose cooperation with the U.S. puts them at risk.

Utter madness, and Strickland doesn’t mention the real reason why: if these Iraqis are admitted to the U.S., it will be with absolutely no screening to determine if they are jihadists or jihad sympathizers. As I noted in my 2003 book Onward Muslim Soldiers, immigration is a national security issue, and should be treated as such. There is an increasingly urgent need to revise the immigration application to allow for the screening out of jihadists, and (as I have tried to convince several legislators) to criminalize advocacy of replacing the U.S. Constitution with Sharia, and of elements of Sharia that are at variance with the U.S. Constitution and mores. These 7,000 Iraqis will almost certainly include some, and probably even a majority, who believe Sharia to be the ideal form of government. Will they work to that end in the U.S.? Are we so paralyzed by political correctness that we cannot even ask this question, although our national survival could be at stake?

Apparently not. A madness has overtaken us. Consider this: In “Jews jeopardized by Muslim immigration,” the insightful Ilana Mercer notes:

Following Sept. 11, immigration from Muslim countries tapered off, but, as the New York Times enthused, it has rebounded with a vengeance: “In 2005, more people from Muslim countries became legal permanent United States residents “¦ than in any year in the previous two decades.” Although Bush is unlikely to allow millions of displaced Iraqis the prerogatives he bestows on illegal Mexicans, the reality is that he is responsible for rendering a Muslim country uninhabitable. This makes it harder for the U.S. to reject Iraqi immigrants and asylum seekers. Starting this year, up to 20,000 Iraqis will be granted asylum in the U.S. They will join close to 100,000 “Muslim from countries in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia,” who arrived in 2005.

Immigration (and the war in Iraq) ought to be the most crucial question in the 2008 election. It is the issue that will ultimately decide whether American values and institutions endure. Unfortunately, it’s a debate American Jews can put off no longer, although it’s too late for their European, British and Canadian brethren. To speak plainly: A gathering danger threatens the Jews of America — to whom George Washington promised peace and goodwill in a 1790 address to a synagogue congregation in Newport, R.I.

American Jewry has “lived up to the standard asked of them by Washington,” observed philosopher David Conway in his inquiry into the “Place of Nations in Classical Liberalism.” But “The stock of Abraham,” which has flourished in the New World — producing uniquely entrepreneurial, creative and philanthropic citizens — is now threatened by what it perversely promotes: mass immigration. And in particular, immigration from Muslim countries, where anti-Semitism and extremism are imbibed with mother’s milk.

Before 1965, immigration to the U.S. occurred in manageable ebbs and flows, ensuring the new arrivals were thoroughly assimilated and integrated. Multiculturalism was unheard of. In 1965, without voter approval, the U.S. Congress replaced the national-origin immigration criterion, which ensured newcomers reinforced the historical majority, with a multicultural, egalitarian quota system, which divided visas between nations with an emphasis on mass importation of people from the Third World. The new influx was no longer expected to acculturate to liberal democratic Judeo-Christian values. With family reunification superseding economic or cultural requirements, every qualified immigrant would henceforth hold an entry ticket for his entire tribe.

Stephen Steinlight of the Center for Immigration Studies — in “High Noon to Midnight: Does Current Immigration Policy Doom American Jewry?” — courageously (for it runs counter to the views of most of his fellow American Jews) highlights the bizarre situation where entire villages from rural Mexico and the West Bank in Israel have U.S. citizenship. How so? One member qualifies and then imports the entire town. In addition to having huge extended families, Muslims and Mexicans share an anti-Americanism, a tendency to crab about historical grievance and cling to a militant distinctiveness, and a predilection for aggressive identity politics (which the New York Times finds “strikingly positive”). Second only to Latinos, the relatively new (roughly 30-year-old) Muslim community is the most anti-Semitic community in the U.S., its members harboring the greatest propensity to act on their hatred.

Although Jews don’t benefit in the least from open-door immigration, having long since settled in the U.S., Israel, and other First World countries, the liberal Jewish community has continued to generously support this policy.

Indeed. Illustrating Mercer’s point is this update to this story: “Muslim quota comments draw fire,” from AAP (thanks to JE):

THE Jewish Board of Deputies has distanced itself from comments by an Israeli academic who says Australia should limit its number of Muslim immigrants.

Professor Raphael Israeli is quoted in the Australian Jewish News as saying that without such a migration cap Australia risks being swamped by Indonesians.

But Prof Israeli told Fairfax newspapers his comments had been misunderstood.

“When the Muslim population gets to a critical mass you have problems,” he told Fairfax.

“That is the general rule – so if it applies everywhere, it applies in Australia.”

But NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Vic Alhadeff today distanced his organisation from the comments.

“The Jewish community dissociates itself from the comments by Israeli academic Raphael Israeli that Australia should limit the number of Muslim immigrants,” he said in a statement.

Mr Alhadeff said the Jewish community did not believe racial or ethnic quotas were helpful.

“We do not believe in racial or ethnic quotas or stereotyping,” he said.

“These comments do not reflect the position of the Jewish community and are unhelpful in the extreme. The Jewish community has a strong and proud record in fighting racism, and condemns all expressions of bigotry.”

Racism and bigotry. Sheesh. Does Vic Alhadeff really think this is a racial question or a matter of bigotry? Has he not noticed all the furor over statements by Al-Hilali and other Muslim leaders in Australia? Does he think, Dinesh-D’Souza-like, that if he reaches out to “traditional Muslims” that the jihad ideology will somehow evanesce? Has he not noticed that the Jews are targeted for jihad and subjugation in the Qur’an (9:29) regardless of whether or not they oppose “racism and bigotry”? Does he really think that none of the Muslims streaming into Australia now will take that seriously?

And it gets worse. Australian Jews are shooting the messenger: “AIJAC ‘dumps’ scholar over Muslim remarks” (thanks to Looney Tunes for the link).

UPDATE: This has happened before.

Ted Strickland should be considered nominated for the 2007 anti Dhimmi awards. Its time for those who want to stop immigration to speak up. Letting others do so is a mistake. Its easier to speak up now than to “live” with the consequences later.

These are great comments by Robert. It also shows why the questionnaire needs to be pushed, because it allows more people to speak up. Its a great teaching tool.

I just send the Australian Jewish News an e-mail telling them that Prof. Israeli is no Chicken Little and told them to look at London and Paris. The Jewish community there just wants to keep a low profile in order not to be targeted by angry Muslims. I also said years that the next Muslim ‘conquest’ would be by immigration!

I have a great place for the 7000 refugees.

Kennebunkport. Bush can even personally fund a mosque right next to the Arundel yacht club. I am positive there are lots of jobs in Kennebunkport that Americans won’t do.

A couple of hundred could go to the Bush ranch. I’ll bet there are lots of jobs even the Mexicans won’t do.

They’re discussing this on Dhimmi Anderson’s CNN blog. Of course they’re pushing the PC agenda. I posted three comments – under different names with varying degrees of stridency – to that blog and not a single one made it thru.

Please have a look and if everyone writes to that blog at least it will send CNN the message that we’re ANGRY at being silenced and that we may just begin to target them and their advertisers for a future boycott.

    let’s ROLL!

Right now, reading this stuff, I feel like I’m that guy in Close Encounters of The third Kind, and I’m glipsing something before the rest of the population. I’m seeing crescent shapes in mashed potato. The aliens are coming.

(a bit like something Dennis Miller said)

  6. says

If the US (and Europe by the way) are keen on inviting Iraqi refugees I don’t see a general problem there. Just make sure, they’re Christian.
Up to now about 10% of Iraqi population is composed by Christians, while near half of the emigrants are Christian Iraqis.
They are the most oppressed and have nothing to win – whether it’s Sunnis or Shias that take over Iraq. Christians are both parties’ preferred targets.
In the mainstream news this is for certain steadily omitted.
So as well as for their refugee status Christians are far worse off than their muslim counterparts(the latter have the support/protection of their communities). The Christians can’t even rely on American or British help and are certain to have no role in Iraq’s future (apart from being jihad victims). And with regards to security issues they are certain not to import the jihad. And last not least Christian emigrants also have an higher average education than their muslim counterparts.
And they’d form a good base to recrute antiterror specialists for the US, looking like Arabs, speaking Arabic, having grown up among muslims – and suffered by the hands of muslims. I suppose they also have the motivation to repay the
sunnis/shias for the inflicted losses of family members.
Yet I forcefully and sadly doubt that the Bush administration considers taking in Christians.. their Saudi friends will make sure that muslims get “preferred” entry tickets.
That’s been the same with Lebanese immigration into Australia. Originally set up to help Christian lebanese it ended up with taking in basically only Muslims. The consequences are are well-known..

  7. says

it’s far deeper than immigration problems, that is only the first step to cleaning up this mess.

muslims have joined our military services, government offices, universities, and public schools. some are silent now, others display their agendas. but we better start soon on securing the borders. it will take 10 years to impliment a plan, we are way behind and still dragging our feet.

  8. says

Something tells me that of the 3.8 million Iraqis finding refuge in Syria and Iran, the bulk want to be ruled by the likes of Mookie Al-Sadr or the successors of Zarcoward. Let the radical Muslim states take care of them. We all know how compassionate they were to their Falastin Arab brethren.

Let’s keep our doors open to the Christians, Mandaeans, Jews (all dozen or so left in the country), secularized, and democratically-minded. And if Kurdistan breaks off, so be it.

  9. says

of course we are hand selecting those 7000 Iraqi immigrants. and there have been some human interest stories to come out of the Iraqis already immigrated. we aren’t opening the flood gates. I saw this when I lived in Miami during the Cuban missile crisis, people flee.

as for Murtha, the guy is old with WWII mentality. his goal is to take care of the troops, make sure they are not overworked anymore by Bush and make sure they are equipped with vest and other stuff.

  10. says

First of all I am not anti-war and not a Bush hater. I am old enough to believe the President is the President even if he smokes cigars in the Oval Office.

    Kindergarten logic.
Go to war…spend lots of money and lives to free a country from a dictator…spend lots of money building an infrastruture…spend lots of money and lives on constructing a better country for the aforementioned people…And Then solve the problems by bringing thousands of them to our country???
    Only in Washington.

If the kid from Bosnia harbored anger over something that happened when he was 4, what kind of mental baggage will these more recent victims bring here?
I assume they will all be issued gun permits, two years free internet, a computer and a Ford Explorer with their Visa’s.

  11. says

Every U.S. voter here needs to write or call their representatives and the White House and their State Reps. and Governor to voice concern about opening the floodgates for Iraqis.

Please state why this is a security concern.

  12. says

“Mr Alhadeff said the Jewish community did not believe racial or ethnic quotas were helpful.”

How about religious quotas then? Not all “religions” are equal. Islamists who practice a militant brand of Islam need to be not only restricted by a quota, but outright banned. They pose an extreme danger not just due to their racist, vicious antisemitism, but their aggressive threat to the freedoms found in western democracies.

but, as was noted in this article — it’s already TOO LATE for CANANDA — thanks in large part to the 8 years of Chretien, Liberal Party rule.

Mr. Alhadeff should be invited to Concordia or during one of their Hezbollah Party marches (wathc them as they storm a U.S. consulate or kick out windows or spit on Holocaust survivors — (Hezbollah is a named terrorist organization here in Canada, but this does not stop the stormtroopers from their goose-stepping rallies and marches). Then we can talk about allowing more Hezbollah Muslim immigrants into Canada.

    @scrualla:

I just posted my comment on the site…let’s see what they’ll do with it.

“As a European I can only warn you, not to let those people in. The more Muslims arrive in a country, the more they change it and the more dangerous it becomes for Christians and Jews – not a SINGLE Muslim country has a stable democracy. In parts of Europe, we are experiencing this now on a really dramatic level…

Accept the Christians, who are being prosecuted in the Middle East and who are slaughtered my many of those Extremists, but be careful with Muslims. Once a Muslim takes his faith so seriously, that a women is covering herself…that’s the point where you should wake up. Because when they do that, then they will most likely also do the rest that Muhammad wants from them.

    With best wishes from Germany,”

  16. says

I’m Jewish and I’ll flat out say Jews have been a disgrace as far as promoting out of control immigration. These days Jewish refugee agencies sponsor Muslims and other non Jews. Hart-Celler Immigration Act of 1965 started this tilt towards 3rd world immigration and away from European. Ted Kennedy was this bills flor manager in the Senate. Our churches are also to blame. The Catholic church is a serious enabler of illegal immigrants from Mexico to fill their pews and priesthood. The Lutherans sponsored and settled the primitive Hmong and the Somali Muslims in Minnesota and Wisconsin

If it were up to me East and West European immigration would be increased. We would be promoting immigration of educated English speakers same as Australia and New Zealand do. I would build a fence on the Mexican border and computerize our visa system to eliminate visa over stayers. Unrepentant illegal aliens and visa over stayers would forfeit property and bank accounts. These funds would be spent on deportations and work place enforcement

  17. says

But NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Vic Alhadeff today distanced his organisation from the comments…..

That is a dhimmi last name. He has roots in Arab counties. He has internalized the Muslim ways same as some Christian Arabs do

As a European, I don’t really know what problems you have with Mexicans in den United States, so this may sound a little naive, but I don’t think that Mexicans want to change the Consitution, slaughter homosexuals, lock away women or kill Christians and Jews (since most of them are Catholics themselves). I really think the BIGGEST problem with immgrants to the US are those coming from Asia, North Africa and of course the Middle East (in one word: the Muslims).
In a recent news report on German TV they said, that the number of Muslims coming to America is on an all-time high.

  19. says

I tend to agree that the real problem isn’t with Mexican immigrants, but the jihadists of Middle Eastern origin — those practitioners of the Religion of Peace.

but with regard to the Mexican Border — Kinky Friedman, as I recall, offered an interesting solution. Friedman has a website at http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/

(from memory) — Friedman’s solution was to divide the U.S./Mexico border into 5 sections. Then put in charge of each of these sections a Mexican General (fully armed, of course). Then, have the U.S. treasury put into a Bank Account one million dollars (used as a reward at the end of a year). Then, for each Mexcican caught sneaking across into the United States, that General’s funds would suffer a deduction…This would be an incentive plan to get Mexicans to keep the illegals out of the U.S. (I’m repeating this from memory, could be off on some of the details, but I think that was the jist of Kinky’s “solution to border woes.”)

  20. says

Anybody gullible enough to believe the 7,000 Iraqui refugees number probably also buys the 10 million aboriginal illegal aliens number (Mexicans, Venezuelans, Guatamalans, et al).

Language is funny. Once a fact is posited, no matter how unfounded or even outrageous (Islam is a religion of peace) the rest of us slavishly accept it as fact.

There are 20 – 30 illion aboriginal Indians in the USA as illegal aliens; there will be tens of thousands of Iraqi “refugees,” many of them Jihadists, all of them potential Jihadists, in this country within just a few years.

Why? Because it would be untoward to question their in-migration. It would be racist. It would be xenophobic. It would be Islamophobic.

  21. says

Houari Boumédienne, Algeria’s undisputed ruler until his death in 1978, said it clearly in a 1974 UN speech:

“One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends.

Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory.”

I have no problem with admitting displaced Iraqis into the U.S., so long as they’re Christians.

I can’t think of better allies against Muslim terrorists than people who’ve suffered under the Muslim whip in their former countries. It’s not likely they’ll buy into the “moderate Muslim” bull we hear so much about from politicians and media in this country.

Admitting non-Muslims into our country should be official policy, and if Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Islamic world, complain, our leaders shouldn’t be shy — or afraid — to point out their own official policies of discriminination against non-Muslims in their own countries.

We need real leaders in our country, people who will tell the social engineers that make the policies we’re all governed by, that Multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion, are nothing but Dogmas that have absolutely no value whatsoever.

  23. says

If they are Iraqi Christians, I might go for it. But I don’t know if we can trust them either. If Christianity in Iraq is islamochristianity, we don’t need them here, either.

  24. says

At this point we have no real way of determining which prospective Iraqi immigrants into the USA would be Christian or Muslim jihadist or non-jihadist Muslim, Druze or what. Although it truly doesn’t look like this administration cares. The Bush administration’s attitude would appear to be: “Hey, Iraqi terrorists!! Come on over to America!! Welcome!”

Even those Iraqis CLAIMING to be Christian could very easily turn out to be Muslim imposters and jihadist Muslim imposters at that.

Bush, it is worth noting, STILL has’t made defending the US borders a priority. And THIS after recent discoveries of floor plans of US elementary schools in the possesion of Iraqi terrorist cells.

You have to look at our elected oficials and wonder, WHAT’S WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE????? Are they trying to get us killed? It sure looks that way sometimes.

  25. says

So what the HELL! is the use of the war? Who are we fighting them and why?

It’s evident that the leadership here has failed us!

LEt me state tht as a Latina, I an hardly the one to deny entry into this country, but these islamics among us are ticking bombs. How can one deny that these people absolutely HATE us now!? I don’t blame them, but to have “enemies” – one to the other – settling among us.

Enemies not only because we’ve invaded their homes, but because we’ve murdered their families and friends.

Enemies because our ideologies are opposites.

    Enemies because of cultures.

    Across the board.

    What a mistake!

Here we are, in the heartland of evolution – we – the pointmen in the advance of civilization – now to bring in savages.

    Savages…in all ways.

OH GOD! OH GOD! HOW I HATE ISLAM!

Thank you for Tom Tancredo’s surprising success in the primaries – which put the front-runners of both parties on notice that the American people are fed-up with incompetent government.

Thank you for delivering our elders to the home of John Bolton where they successfully pleaded for his entry into the race.

Thank you for all the Tancredo support that was handed to Bolton.

Thank you for the winning ticket of Bolton-Tancredo.

Thank you for guiding these brave men in their immigration reform policies.

Thank you for giving them the strength to stand up to America’s enemies, at home and abroad.

Thank you for the peace that America’s strength and leadership has made possible.

    And deliver us from evil.

People need to comprehend that Islam was chosen, groomed and set loose by a host of “communist” type fronts which does indeed include Jewish organizations led by people who want to see the topple of Conservative, Patriotic, Orthodox, Christian…..easier way is to say they want everyone who is not a globalist communist silenced, imprisoned or cowed into submission so their world belief system can rule the world.

These are fascists in bin Laden and communists in Iran hiding behind the violence of Islam. They though will receive a final solution by all these fellow travelers from the National Bolsheviks in Russia, the aforementioned Jewish groups, the Democrats of Clintonia, Chavez and company in South America etc… Islam is the violent spear to take the blame, so the globalists can come in as the “peace makers” as no one wants a warlike George Bush or his patriotic factions.

The globalists pulled this before when Reagan was defeating them in the same front groups paid for by socialists. We do not have a Reagan now and no one seems to get the point that Islam is not the entire problem but those who benefit by the demise of the west. The ignorant throw out terms of rascist, bigot and homophobe on this site in being well trained mouths to deflect from what the facts are.

This globalist movement wants to destroy Judeans, Christians, Europeans and even Muslims, so they can put in their own “religion” and political control of controlling billions of people while the the elitists sip wine in their mansions.

Communist globalism did not die. It just has Islamocommunists and Islamofascists doing their dirty work now as Putin poisons defectors with Polonium and blackmails the world with Russian oil.

America in 2007 is a strange combination of a pure domestic democracy and global financial oligarchy. Both interests benefit from massive immigration; the democracy’s swing caucuses through demographics and the oligarchy through cheap labor. I don’t think it can be stopped until the system collapses as the Citizenry votes themselves social benefits that sink international credit ratings.

As every Mexican and Central American that I’ve gotten to know has turned out to be a pretty good guy, I support drowning our social systems in Mexican high school dropouts. It will be much easier to recover from that scenario than from one which includes tens of millions of new Muslims.

The Founding Fathers were brilliant when they established an impure democracy where only lien-free landowners were eligible to vote; their error was failing to codify their voter eligibility criteria. The system was a nice balance between democracy and oligarchy. It worked well for nearly two hundred years.

  29. says

“‘We do not believe in racial or ethnic quotas or stereotyping,’ he [Alhadeff] said.”
    — from the article above

No one is asking you to. No one is asking you to do anything more than consider that there is a belief-system, Islam, and the contents of that belief-system, and how the contents of that belief-system keep coming back, and coming back, even in those Muslims who are taken out of Musli societies, and that belief-system is based on texts deemed immutable, and those texts (Qur’an, Hadith, Sira) are full of imprecations, often murderous ones, against all Infidels. And Muslims are inculcated with the single strong idea that the world is divided between the Believers and Infidels, and Muslims owe their sole loyalty to fellow Believers, members of the umma al-islamiyya.

Why is it impossible to even to begin to hint at attempting to grasp that? Would it be impermissible for the Western world to keep out Nazis? It does so now. It is the official policy of the United States to revoke citizenship for those who lie about what they did during World War II as members of the Nazi Party, or as supporters of the Nazi genocide. Would it be impermissible for the Western world to outlaw membership in the Communist Party? The American government did so during the Cold War, and certainly would not have admitted into the United States those who claimed to be “refugees” but instead of being opposed to Communism, turned out to be bearers of that ideology.

Why is it so hard to look closely, without any sentimental assumptions, of the kind Bush and Blair have both made, about something that is called a “religion” but is in fact a Total System, with a clear and threatening and immutable Geopolitics, at Islam?

And what is the “stereotyping” of which Professor Israeli stands accused, exactly? What “stereotypes” has he been guilty of promoting? That Islam inculcates certain views? Is that a “stereotype” or does that fall, rather, within the category of Knowledge We’d Prefer Not to Recognize or Discuss.

How foolish people are. How intent they are on evading reality.

    Head. Sand. Ostrich.

The abundance of ostrich feathers on women’s hats, when ostrich feathers were in fashion, suggests that it was not a strategy that worked out. Not for the ostriches, anyway. The milliners of Paris, London, and New York, on the other hand, were quite happy.

Pull back the forces from the cities and lock down the borders as outlined by Daniel Pipes. Let the Government and the people of Iraq sort out the problems internally and limit the Allied intervention to keep out new influxes of insurgents and terrorist supplies from outside the country, lending aid to the struggling government in very limited and strategic engagements to ensure their success.

Then tell all these folks to stay home and help rebuild their country. Iraq doesn’t need to be drained of all it’s most able and talented people at this time. It needs a huge number of people, the best and brightest (which happens to correspond with those who have the resources to pull up roots and leave), to put the country back on track.

  31. says

Whatever the preferences of the typical reader of this site, be aware that if we pull out of Iraq without leaving behind a stable regime, we will be getting a lot more than 7,000 refugees. Consider our now considerable Vietnamese population. I’m not sure this would be such a disaster for us, but it would add to the disaster for Iraq.

You should take a tour of the small towns all over the southwest US. It is quickly becoming Mexico. Where Beaver Cleaver used to live, it is now 3rd world. The hospitals all over the country are closing because they can not absorb all the free health care given to illegals. The local grocer now is replaced by the “mercado” with that blasted accordian music. Also the idea of some “atzlan” returning is foremost in a lot of minds. Not good for the USA.

The putatatively insightful Ilana Mercer said

the reality is that he [Bush] is responsible for rendering a Muslim country uninhabitable. This makes it harder for the U.S. to reject Iraqi immigrants and asylum seekers.

GAAAAACK!!! How frustrating, at this late date, and by supposedly insightful pundits, that such statements are made. I am no fan of Bush, and am certainly no fan of how the war in Iraq is being run. But Bush did not render Iraq uninhabitable!!!! He overthrew a terrible dictator, that much everyone (except the Sunnis) can agree on. What happened after that, the continuation of a 1000+ year battle between Shi’ites and Sunnis, is no-one’s fault except the Shi’ites and Sunnis.

We are under no obligation to let a single Iraqi citizen into our country. If the U.S. decides to let a few carefully vetted Iraqis in, that is one thing. But the idea that the Iraqis have a “right” to come here is insane.

These misguided beliefs abound. Today on the radio I heard a U.S. Senator (sorry, didn’t catch the name) make the analogy that leaving Iraq now “is like a doctor leaving a patient in the middle of surgery”. No. We are not a doctor, and Iraq is not the patient, and we should not be trying to “save” Iraq.

You want an analogy? Iraq is the Hatfields and the McCoys in Kentucky, and the U.S. is a sheriff living in Arizona, travelling for unknown reasons out of his jurisdiction to Kentucky and vowing not to leave until the two rival clans live in peace no matter how many of his deputies they kill. In the meantime, he’s going to keep building them new roads, libraries, saloons, telegraph stations, whatever they want. Nothing is too good for the Hatfields and the McCoys, says the psychotic sheriff.

Just who do you think you are! You have some contempt for otehr people and other countries! What does Paraguay and the people there have to do with the problem?

Hey, we DON”T want them in South America!

The immigration problem is the U.S.’s problem – NOT Paraguay’s.

The U.S. broke it – now pay for it!

You know – People – South America has the same culture and values as the U.S. – between the Latinos and the Americanos, there’s a meeting ground – and a probability of saving ourselves.

Le’ts just put aside past disagreements and dislikes and peeves between each other – because – guy – if we don’t do it – if we don’t begin to respect each other – we will be eaten alive by the sharks.

Seperatism is how the vile horde swallowed up Constantinope the rest of the Roman Empire and Persia.

Don’t throw terrorists to other people!

Yes, it was a mistake to remove Saddam – I said so before. The man had both sides – Shiates and Sunnis in a tight grip.

Now there is no fixing it – even with all our troops there. Even with fresh new healthy blood.

The islamics are primitive tribals and nothing is going to stop them from slaughtering each other.

The tragedy is that the entire country is now carpeted from one end to another with harmful radiation from our DU weapons.

The terrible, terrible tragedy is that our kid sodiers there are very sick and dying from it – same as the Iraqis.

This is something the the administration, & military know about – but will not reveal – few people know about it.

Now we, sending fresh troops in – to be sacrified.

I am, sir, tired of it – tired of this war and the one in Afghanistan – I do NOT care who it will look to the rest of the world – I say it it time to WITHDRAW – and live to fight another day.

You, sir, if you want to continue, are welcome to enlist in the military and go fight there.

    Be my guest.

“I have no problem with admitting displaced Iraqis into the U.S., so long as they’re Christians.”

There is not reason to think that these refugees will be largely Christian. Lots of people want out of Iraq now, and the US government will not distinguish on the basis of religion.

“People need to comprehend that Islam was chosen, groomed and set loose by a host of “communist” type fronts […]”

Wrong. Islam was lying in wait for a chance to resurface in a time of Western weakness, as it is structured to. (There are some great evils in the world created by other than whites, really.)

The Communist types recognized the beginings of its resurgence as a boon to their agenda (replace current decentralized, difficult-to-control social order with a all-powerful central government which, they control). The interests of the two groups coincide.

“This globalist movement wants to destroy Judeans, Christians, Europeans and even Muslims,”

It doesn’t want to destroy Muslims. It is divided on Muslims. Many see Islam as a religion which justifies their deepest totalitarian dreams; Christianity and Judaism don’t allow for the totalitarian and ideology-based government control these people want, while Islam does. Unlike the other two religions, they needn’t destroy Islam to meet their goals; this religion may actually be useful to them. Islam may even eventually convert a sizable portion of Western Communists and Socialists; look at how people like Tariq Ramadan speak their language. I’d bet there are people in universities now who could name a crop of upcoming Gen-Y white converts in this vein.

And for the record, include those of the non-religious who actually believe in things like truth, family, liberty, reality, and morality in folks the fascists of various sorts are interested in destroying.

The US is entering a time of really bad problems.

Both political parties are sold on immigration policies that will ruin the economy, the social order (replacing it with a fixed status one more like Mexico’s), and introduce grave, long-term security threats. The MSM and the educational institutions have locked down discussion on these issues, and serve up propaganda and smear campaigns instead. These are effective, and they aren’t just coming from the left mainstream. It seems to be having an effect; the bulk of conservatives seems to be a lot more pro-large-scale-immigration than they have historically been.

Most serious discussion of what Islam is and what it does to people and how that relates to terrorism and failed states occurs on the fringe. Not in the mainstream press, not in the educational institutions, not in the major political parties. There are blips here and there, thanks the the amazingly steady and honest and hard work of a handful of people like Spencer, but it is kept cleanly out of the information avenues used by the majoirty of the populace, and instead is smeared regularly in those outlets (so that by the time they do encounter them, they’ve already swallowed too many ad hominems to think rationally).

I used to think the ranks of conservatives had what it would take to deal with these problems effectively and honourably when the excrement really starts hitting the air circulation device, but I’m getting doubtful. They’re giving Bush and his mouthpieces (like the WSJ) a major free pass on issues that are contrary to the very basics of conservative thought (like the conservative take on immigration; the idea that to maintain a free country, you must maintain a culture of personal responsibility, self-education, etc., and that this maintainence requires low levels of immigration to ensure assimilation), out of nothing more than some idea of loyalty.

Inviting large numbers of war-hardened Muslim refugees from oppressive societies is really just a fusion of the belief that our culture needn’t be protected from massive and untargeted immigration, with the belief that there isn’t anything in Islam that poses any threat to a free society whatsoever; it is just the extremists.

These are issues conservatives, out of loyalty, have swallowed hook, line, and sinker. They’re making the beds their children will sleep in, and they ain’t pretty.

And this is all quite aside from the fact that both Bush and Clinton let Russia slip into another antagonistic, totalitarian system, possibly leading to another cold war. And quite aside from the fact that China is failing to float its currency while we’ve financed a half-trillion dollar war largely on loans from it. And the fact that that half-trillion dollar war built largely on the premise that we can save the Iraqis from their own culture and religion is ongoing and is likely to end on terms crafted by the Islamofascist’s ideological allies (albeit possibly the lack of sanity on this front could mean the end of that war is as useful to them as its ongoing would be to Americans; namely, not much).

Not if we secure our borders and refuse to give the visas.

“Consider our now considerable Vietnamese population. I’m not sure this would be such a disaster for us, but it would add to the disaster for Iraq.”

So, the people who find it so impossible to live with those of a different sect of their same religion without massive violence wouldn’t be a disaster for us to take in, but leaving them to their own devices in their own land would result in a disaster for which we are responsible?

My friend in Sweden has been waiting two years now to get an immigrant’s visa to the United States–as Sweden is losing its territory to Moslem immigrants (Malmo).

I am certain that if he converted to Islam, changed his name to an Arabic one, his application would be expedited.

    He’d be here already.

there is a definite connection between this administration and the State Department and the Islamic interests. Can anyone guess from whence these “Islamic interests emanate?

You may have been partially kidding but you may have also unintentionally just had a really brilliant idea, i.e. taqiyyah – in which the person lies about their religious beliefs in order to escape persecution. Well maybe 2 can play that game. I’d like to see a whole bunch of Christians from Muslim lands lie and claim to be Muslim and under persecution (your Swedish friend could complain that those white Swedes are nasty islamophobes) in order to seek asylum to the U.S.

Hugh had an anecdote on the Turkish thread in which Muslim women took off their hijabs or burkhas and put on western clothes and makeup in order to seek entry to the US and then turned around after getting out of line and wiped off the makeup and put their real garb back on. Well, apparently times have changed and now I suspect that Muslims (or their fellow travelers) have completely infiltrated the immigration services. Very well. Then imagine the opposite. Orthodox Christian or caucasian Swede poses as a persecuted Muslim to come here, then promptly sheds the disguise and works full time for the anti-jihad cause once arriving on our shores.
