Kosovo (and Europe) in the balance.

Serge Trifkovic of Sword of the Prophet and Defeating Jihad fame has an excellent analysis in Chronicles Magazine of the continued international pressure on Serbia to hand over Kosovo to Albanian Muslims and the terrorist KLA:

On February 2, U.N. special envoy Martti Ahtisaari finally unveiled his much-anticipated plan for the final status of the Serbian province of Kosovo which has been under NATO-UN occupation since Bill Clinton’s war against the Serbs in 1999. While avoiding the contentious word “independence,” Ahtisaari presented the framework for a new Albanian state that would have all key attributes of sovereign statehood. [...]

The period of international supervision envisaged by the plan, as well as a host of “guarantees” and promises of “substantial” municipal autonomy for the few remaining Serbs and other non-Albanians in the province, are but a fig leaf meant to conceal the plan’s reality: that on the fundamental issue of Kosovo’s legal, constitutional and political status Ahtisaari gives everything to the Albanians and nothing to the Serbs. Even without using the “I” word, the plan proposes de facto separation of Kosovo from Serbia. Its primary focus is to finalize the detachment of Kosovo from the last formal vestiges of Serbia’s authority, with the definition of its future status a secondary consideration.

The promise of a “review” after two years is mendacious: if on their current church-burning, dope-smuggling form, the KLA terrorists and criminals who run Kosovo are deemed worthy of independence, it is preposterous to assume that someone—anyone—would dare suggest otherwise two years from now, once they are even more firmly entrenched in power. If 150 Serbian churches went up in flames, and a quarter-million Serbs and other non-Albanians were ethnically cleansed while tens of thousands of KFOR soldiers and UNMIK policemen were stationed in the Province, what would be the worth of Ahtisaari’s “guarantees” once they all leave and the KLA (under whatever current name) takes over?

Ahtissari’s plan is [...] deeply destabilizing because it helps create a base for jihad-terrorism in the heart of Europe and sets a dangerous precedent that will be emulated by each and every disenchanted minority around the world: from Transylvania, to southern Slovakia to the Basque Country to Northern Cyprus to the Crimea, not to mention Transdnistria, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, and Nagorno-Karabakh. (To this there may come yet another assurance from the State Department that “no precedent would be set”; yet, while Foggy Bottom bureaucrats may impact reality, they certainly cannot control it.)

[...]

The 1999 NATO war against the Serbs was ostensibly waged for human rights, but—judged by any rational standard—the NATO-UN mission in Kosovo has been, and still is, an unmitigated disaster. The pretense that this is not so is nevertheless maintained by Ahtisaari and his mentors, amidst murders, unreversed ethnic cleansing, rampant crime, prostitution, drug-smuggling, and general dysfunctionality of a thoroughly failed, violent, and dysfunctional polity, a black hole utterly devoid of a single redeeming feature.

[...]

[Ahtisaari’s] goal is to create a new Muslim state in the heart of Europe that would be a veritable black hole of criminality, lawlessness, and jihad terrorism. He must not succeed: pandering to Islam’s geopolitical designs—in the Balkans, or anywhere else—is not only bad, it is counterproductive, and violating laws of God and man along the way is evil.

Sadly, the whole sorry process of wrenching Kosovo away from Serbia (analogous to handing New England over to a Quebec full of jihadists) has been driven by American and Western foreign policy that seems to think that throwing the Serbs to the jihadist wolves will sate their appetite. Not likely. For those who want to get up to speed on the whole Balkan situation, may I recommend Diane Johnston's Fool's Crusade, which blows out of the water the persistent myths of the Balkan wars of the past fifteen years.

Sadly, Kosovo is a de facto Albanian province anyway, as NATO stood by and did nothing while the KLA "cleansed" it of virtually all the remaining Serbs.

this is the blueprint for all future jihadist secessionism attempts in europe. france will be the second nation to witness this, maybe it has already started there.

the serb population is a fraction of what it once was, about 10% now, brought about by heavy illegal immigration and a mass exodus of albanians into kosovo. why the serbs never clamped down on this at the start is beyond me? cheap labour?

i don't know much of the history of kosovo but how could a people's spiritual homeland become invaded so easily, espacially if the government of that country was a draconian police state?

like the west they have only themselves to blame for their current problems. As Ahmadinejad stated in today's interview, no foreigners, then there is peace (sic). unfortunately only the right wing parties are the ones that will put an end to islam in europe.

As an American, I feel we are obligated to make amends to the Serbs by helping them gain their whole country back. We owe it to them. Kosovo is theirs and will always be. Bill Clinton stole it from them. A good place to start would be to give diplomatic recognition to their claim for the territory. That is, the current administration should publically repudiate the aggression that was waged on them for the sake of saving Clinton's worthless personal reputation (ala Monica Lewinsky) and affirm their rightful historical claim to the territory. Once we have given them diplomatic recognition, we would then be in a position to provide them military aid. No American troops would be needed. The Serbian armed forces are tough, focused and well-motivated. They would succeed in pushing the Mo's from the territory. They are also reasonable and understanding. I know they would be very willing to be our friends again (it is in their interests to be) and we would regain a tough, old ally for the future of this war.

Is it possible that Putin is covertly aiding the jihadists in the Balkan/Caucasus areas in order to strengthen the Kremlin's position in this region?

It isn't all that far-fetched: Yasser Arafat was a member of the KGB, as of course was Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin under Putin could quite easily have struck a deal of sorts with the Balkan region's jihadists, promising aid to Islamic states across the board under the condition that they dial back violence directed against Russia. The motivation could also include anti-Americanism; Putin's exertion of Kremlin influence in the Middle East could be aimed at directing jihadist activism towards America and away from Russia. Russia has played this game before in Iran and could be playing it in the Balkan/Caucasus regions too. And, if it is, it may prove to be much harder to obtain a satisfactory outcome in this situation--particularly if the Kremlin is aiding the jihadists AGAINST the other Balkan ethnicities. Russia, after all, will turn on a dime if it has reason to. And I think it has reason to.

I also can't help noticing that the Putin government was very slow to bring the jihadists who attacked the elementary school in Beslan, despite hundreds of schoolchildren having been viciously murdered. Putin is more interested in harming Americans than in helping Russians. And leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I'm wondering if the Mo's will start Gun Running and Bomb making in Bosnia; if they already haven't ? Yeah, it'll be another Somallia in a few more years; the only problem is it'll be in Europe ?

The demographic changes in Kosovo were aided and abetted by the croatian/slovenian communist Tito who believed that a strong Yugoslavia was only achievable through a weak Serbia...hence, refugees from the pogroms by kosovo albanian axis allies..(yes, the albanians of Kosovo were devout nazis/facists during WW2 resulting in a cleansing of Kosovo's Jews and mass killings and expulsion of Christian Serbs)---were not permitted to return to Kosovo and subsequent illegal immigration from albania was ignored--this is dedades we are talking about...not to mention the years of self-government the albanians enjoyed in Kosovo when violence against Serbs was routine by their muslim albanian neighbors. This is all documented in articles throughout the 1980's in the NY Times by reporter David Binder...and ignored by our main stream media durning the clinton 90's.

Yeah, and underneath it all is drugs....heroin. Over in Ukraine, I witnessed a bunch of kids shooting up in back of a school, it was sad, law enforcement couldn't handle it. Those countries over there are poor, so poor, the Afghan heroin controls their lives.

About time this travesty is covered. AI Steamroller I second your thoughts. America must make amends for what Clinton did. Three reasons. One it is critical that the jihadists are shown their tactics won't succeed. Two the serbs are in the right. And three to give America credibility in the war on terror. Clinton was able to do this because Yeltsin was weak and Russia did nothing. I still am not convinced Putin will go out of his way to help but the recent rhetoric out of him is very promising. I hope Kosovo is saved from the murderous cult that has its grip on it. What is sad is if Nato did not bomb serbia this travesty would not be possible. At times we are our worst enemies.

In reality when the whole shebang starts in war in Eurasia, it will be the Clinton fiasco in Kosovo which will be the murderous start just like in WW I.

Pit Russia and central Europe on opposing oil sides and the Balkans are the battle zone and Prague will be a heap of radioactive rubble.

The world can thank Jimmy Carter for training the muhajadeen with American money to try and stop the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and Bubba Clinton for letting the gennie out of Afghanistan by importing those terrorists for his oil pipeline war.(The pipeline was never built, but Bush built a different one in southern Asia without one drop of blood shed.)

When war comes to Europe it is going to be the poor Balkan Christians massacred just like when the hordes invaded under Sulieman.

I feel so much for those good people as they never deserved the hell hole they have been stuck in.

Pyhtagoras I don't know you but from what I read in your posting you must be out of your mind.

Putin has been one of the only world leaders who has steadfastly rejected the independence of Kosovo. It is (I'm assuming now your country) the US that has been the architect of this country's demise. Do not forget that, what kind of nonsense is this to blame Russia for a mess that the US made.

I'll tell you this that if the NATO led coalition does in fact separate Kosovo from Yugoslavia, you will see an instant war in that area. The Serbs will not be able to withstand the pressure that is on them by having this jihadist state created within their country.

The US led bombing of this country was a crime against civilization, and you're better served recognizing who did it. NATO has stood by and watched ethnic cleansing and destruction of hundreds of churches, all to appease the Muslim hordes. When will the western world learn that the only appeasement that will satisfy these animals is the destruction of world as we know it?

thanks ujaklija for your info on why kosovo became albanian in 6 decades. very informative.

... France will be the second nation to witness this, maybe it has already started there.

Sweden will be the first to lose a body part, Malmo.

The media and other ruling elites cut their teach on Kosovo, where the military might of the USA was deployed against Christians on behalf of Jihad, yet almost nobody in this country heard a peep of that crucuial aspect.

Instead, we were led to believe that Milosevic was a mass murder.

Such is the beauty of Islam: They can attack without stop cuz it's what they do, a sacramental religious rite. When somebody punches back, likek the Serbs, the aircraft carriers slip in with their dive bombers to help expand Dar al Islam.

"a black hole utterly devoid of a single redeeming feature"

HA HA I like that one.

What will happen when the group of non-citizens in Kosovo meet up with the accumulating group of non-citizens in France? Germany? UK? Are we going to invite Syria to occupy those countries so it can use its iron fist to restrain sectarian tensions like it supposedly did in Lebanon?

I'd like to add to my previous post. If Kosovo is torn away from Yugoslavia do not underestimate the danger of the potential conflicts that will follow.

Albanians have been eyeing the Albanian concept for years, this is where they believe they have territorial rights to areas including northern Greece, The former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia , Montenegro, Bosnia and Yugoslavia.

These countries could all be drawn into a massive war which would obviously draw Turkey in because of Greece' involvement, which in turn could become a potential World War.

As we speak concessions of allowing Albanian flags to fly in the FYROM are allowed in areas that they make up the majority. This country is hanging by a thread, and this was a side effect to the bombing of Yugoslavia. The damage done to this region by the US led invasion is staggering.

These events can really happen and all because of a criminal desire by western countries to appease the Muslims they fear so much.

The same administration that has been willing to spend $750 billion in past, present, and committed future costs in Iraq, to "fight them over there so we won't have to fight them over here" (surely one of the most absurd remarks in the history of geopolitics), is unwilling to prevent the enlargement of a Muslim state in Europe itself, at the expense of those -- the Serbs -- who have been misunderstood (their justified fear of Izetbegovic and all that he represented to them -- which is to say, the centuries of Ottoman domnation, the principles of Shari'a, the devshirme), and badly mistreated, by the Clinton Administration, and by European states that do not realize what Islam is all about, and take as a given that the most plausible, most secular, most Western of Albanians represent the future of Islam, when the presence of Saudis and other Arabs, the attacks on Serbian monasteries and villagers, the establishment of a beachhead for future acts of terrorism throughout Europe, guarantees that this terminally naive vision will soon be disabused, or perhaps has already been disabused, but everyone is too afraid to recognize the truth. Meanwhile, Clinton, and Wesley Clark, and Richard Holbrooke, no doubt think they did a fine thing in the Balkans. No they didn't.

Fanatic: If Putin was willing to supply the Iranian mullahs with nuclear technology to attack non-Muslim states with (which HE ALREADY HAS DONE), he would certainly be willing to cut other deals with other Islamic regions. The closer they are to Russia's doorstep the more reason he would hav to negotiate with them (in similar bad faith I might add, Russian style).

There is also a nasty rumor going around that Putin himself has recently (and secretly)converted to Islam. If so, he will have greater ties to Kosovo than Serbia. Do you really believe this man has a loyal bone in his body? If so, how naive of you.

If you think Putin WOULDN'T betray the Balkans to stage a power grab then YOU are out of your mind. Of course he would.

Russia has plenty of territory, it would barely notice a place as tiny as Losovo. Russia already ceded independence to Azerbaijan, which helped the way for the Chechen wars Russia has been fighting (the Chechens wanted independence too and weren't granted it by Moscow).

What has been going on in Kosovo did not occur merely because of the 1990s US_led bombings. Islamification of the Balkan region has been on ongoing process since 1100AD there. Encase you didn't know, Bosnia is almost 60% Islamic! And the remainder of the Balkan region is set to follow fast.

It is VERY DOUBTFUL the Balkans could have been saved under any circunstances and it is equally unlikely the path towards Islamification in the Balkans could have been averted simply because the demographic war waged by the Muslims has been unchallenged not merely since the Clinton Administration but for several generations past. This failure can only be put on the Balkan leaders themselves across the entire twentieth century. So stop trying to put the whole thing on America. This cake was baked long before America arrived on the scene. The same may apply to most of Africa and Indonesia too.

And by the way, after Iran slaughters a couple of hundred million "infidels" (which is set to happen now, thank to your friend, ol' Vlad the Impaler) you may change your mind that Americans have committed the bigger crime against civilization. WHO REMEMBERS THE 200 MILLION INNOCENT PERSONS WHO WERE MUDERED BY COMMUNIST IDEOLOGUES ANYWAY? (AND BY THE WAY IT IS STILL TRUE THAT YASSER ARAFAT WAS A MEMBER OF THE KGB).

Now that I think about it you sound rather like a Communist.

Dozens of churches, monasteries and shrines have been destroyed or damaged since 1999 in Kosovo, the cradle of Orthodox Christianity in Serbia. The Serbian Orthodox Church lists nearly 150 attacks on holy places, which often involve desecration of altars, vandalism of icons and the ripping of crosses from Church rooftops. A March 2004 rampage by Albanian mobs targeted Serbs and 19 people, including eight Kosovo Serbs, were killed and more than 900 injured, according Agence France Press. The UN mission in Kosovo, AFP said, reported that 800 houses and 29 Serb Orthodox churches and monasteries – some of them dating to the 14th century -- were torched during the fighting. NATO had to rush 2,000 extra troops to the province to stop the destruction.

All this happened despite the presence of UN peacekeeping forces. According to news reports posted by the American Council for Kosovo, Albanian separatists are opposing the expansion of military protection of Christian holy sites by UN forces. A main concern of Christians is the fate of the Visoki Decani Monastery – Kosovo's only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

St George in SERBIA today

http://illustratedpig.blogspot.com/2007/01/bombed-wrong-side.html

Clinton's war on Serbia was a life immitating art edition of the movie 'Wag the dog'. In the movie, the country with the hyped up threat was Albania; here, Clinton hyped up the Serb threat, and managed to make the Russians a sworn adversary.

“Serbs have had plenty of experience in dealing with radical Islam, what Americans now call Islamic Terror. Americans tragically lost some 3,000 lives and several buildings on Sept. 11, and promptly wanted to turn the world upside down and intervene in other countries, in pursuit of justice.
“Yet, the Serbs - who have suffered a million times more, for centuries, have not been allowed to fight the same type of terror in their own country.
“For almost 500 years the Turks had beheaded our best men, raped our prettiest women, taken our male babies and young boys and raised them as Turks - these were the yanissaries, they were even more brutal than the ordinary Turks; taken our girls to the sultan's harem, taken our lands, our harvest, our livestock, our food, burned our churches and turned them into mosques or horse stables, placed our men on sticks so that they die a suffering death...
“And, instead of America understanding us and supporting us, what does it do? It punishes us in every way possible and then rewards our enemies - Muslims in Bosnia and Kosovo, who have ties with the very Al Qaeda the Americans are fighting.

Isn't that a bit strange?

The Skull Tower (Serbian: Ћеле Кула, or Ćele Kula) is a monument to 19th century Serbian rebels. It is situated in Niš, on Zoran Đinđić Boulevard, on the old Constantinople road leading to Sofia.

On May 31, 1809 on Čegar Hill a few kilometers northeast of Niš, Serbian insurrectionists suffered their greatest defeat in the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire (1804-1813). The insurrectionists' advance towards Niš was stopped here and, when the far stronger Turkish forces attacked, the battle was ended by the Serbian commander Stevan Sinđelić, who sacrificially fired at his gunpowder depot in order to avoid surrendering to the Turks, killing himself, the rest of his men, and the advancing Turks.

After the retreat of the Serbian rebel army, the Turkish commander of Niš, Hurshid Pasha, ordered that the heads of the killed Serbians were to be mounted on a tower to serve as a warning to any other would-be revolutionaries. In all, 952 skulls were included, with the skull of Sindjelić placed at the top. The scalps from the skulls were stuffed with cotton and sent to Constantinople (modern Istanbul) as proof for Sultan Mahmud II.

I was not interested in this war at the time it happened, even what the Clinton leadership did there. I know better now, and will inform others of this as well. Our people were wrong, and I am sorry that I did not know.

One clear way we know of our error, the almost stone cold, silence from the followers of islam on this war and what was done.

I pray to God that I live long enough to see Clinton, Blair and every other damned Godless Western traitor involved in the betrayal of Christians in the Balkans brought to account.

I seem to remember a song with words that went 'The history book on the shelf - is always repeating itself'.

It seems that the west will only wake up and see the grave mistake they are making by creating an independent state out of the province of Kosovo, when it comes back to bite them. Kosovo is Serbian, so if the Albanian minority in what is Serbian territory have a problem with living in Serbian Christian territory, then in reality they should have no problem going back to Albania. Unfortuantely, we don't live in reality these days.

I find it so sickening with the way Muslims constantly attempt to carve out their own states out of the host society - take a look at Cyprus and what the Turks have attempted to do there, having been aided by the British and Americans.

Fact is - Oriana Fallaci has issued a dire warning about this very issue when she spoke about how Muslims create a city within a city, a state within a state - with their own laws, beliefs, languages and religion - they function as a separate society, and as we all know the only thing they do take from the land of the infidels, besides the land itself, is the welfare. As their populations expand, so too will we have more 'Kosovo's' springing up throughout western Europe, more demands for 'autonomy', and more demands for Sharia, and finally more demands for independence. It is what those who can see past their toes call the Balkanisation of Europe. As quickly as a fire spreads when it is not tackled, is as quickly as those who are caught in a slumber will be burned.

And then, I am just curious to know if m. Ahtaasari or any of his western sponsors have thought up exactly how the province's economy will function. I mean, a country needs a source of revenue from somewhere. My take is there will be two sources - one from the European Union, where all funding will be thrown into a bottomless pit. The other from people/drug trafficking, and perhaps, yes maybe from exporting jihad. They're all brothers in arms after all, and bin Laden and co don't have a shortage of funds to supply to any of these tinpot states who are willing to support their war.

Many years ago when the civil wars in the former Yugoslavia were in full flow I remember telling a journalist friend how the Serbs were the victims and the moslims must not be allowed to succeed. His response was one of patronising contempt.

Unfortunatly this is what western leaders are good at feeding everybody else to the islamic crocodile and hoping they will get eaten last.

After the murder od the children at Beslan the western response to the Russians was "negotiate".
I remember the fury on Putins face, I believe he screamed at the western journalists "why don't you negotiate with OBL?"

This is always the western response everybody else has to negotiate, the Indians in Kashmir, the Thais, the Philippinos, the africans in the sudan (by the way why no NATO intervention there ? Why no attempt to help the africans break away from islamic sudan ?)the Chinese have to negotiate with the uighar moslems.

Ask yourselves an honest question.
IF THE 9/11 attacks had been carried out on New Delhi/Mumbai would the west be waging a war on terror ?

The answer my friends is NO.

When the Beslan murders happened The west led by NATO and the USA should have offered an alliance to the Russians, instead it was "Negotiate, Negotiate"

The worst is yet to come.
The people who have a historical experience of islam the Serbs, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Eastern Christians are being told "Negotiate" while those who have seen 9/11 on TV are are standing up and pontificating.

I have even seen postings on JW from people saying "the west needs to encourage an "equitable settlement in Kashmir, these Indians need to be told that their behaviour is unacceptable"
When your/our survival is on the line, when our collective backs are against the wall then my friends we are all Serbs, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Eastern Christians.

Regards

AI

At beginning of 20th Century SERBS WERE THE MAJORITY IN KOSOVO.Other Posters have correctly
explained their demise to a paltry 200,000 left in Kosovo today.
Do not think the Serbs would refuse 'hand of friendship' from Americans-did they not risk their lives in WW11 to rescue American pilots?
Is spite of being bombed by Nato[directed by U.S],SERBS DID NOT KILL 3,000 AMERICAN citizens.
Stupidity of Clinton beggars belief-of course staying on the right side of corrupt Saudi Princes was paramount-what did it matter how many Christian Serbs died-they had no oil to offer America.
However do not believe we should despair.Let us show the Serbs WE SUPPORT THEM and put pressure on our Dimwitted Dhimmi Politicians to reverse
these terrible injustices to a loyal & tough ally.
Serbia,as a sovereign state that has never attacked any nation of NATO, is ENTITLED TO ALL
HER TERRITORY.Emboldened by their success in Kosovo,Albanians are already causing trouble in Macedonia,Bulgaria & Greece...

Samuel Huntington described the eight civilizations among the world as including Orthodox and Western.
Would anyone like to explain the difference between Orthodox and Western because I have never understood?
I know that a Crusader army sacked Constantinople but this does not explain the theological/ideological split which presumably goes to the heart of the matter.
My knowledge of the Orthodox Church does not go beyond the reading of a few Dostoyevsky novels I’m afraid.
I know that, during WWII, Croatia was allied with Germany and Serbia with Russia.
But what of the rest of their history?
Having a common enemy tends to unite people. You would think that, throughout most of their history, Serbia and Croatia regarded the Ottomans as their “worst ever enemy.”
I suppose that one of the reasons why we can never count on Putin as an ally is that we attacked Serbia.
Can anyone summarise why the Orthodox/ Western split goes so deep?

I took an Aeroflot flight to Dubai so naturally there were Russian Americans flying to Russia. I had an interesting conversation in the flight with this Russian American woman sitting beside me about islam and jihad and muslim propaganda about Israel and I was able to convince her of most things regarding Israel's demonization. THe conversation then steered to Chechnya and somehow to Serbia and she became really vehement and denounced the Clinton government for 'massacring the Serbs' and 'selling them out.'
And sadly what did America achieve? The so-called 'Muslim' world will never ever acknowledge a favor done to it by an infidel power -- in this case the USA aiding Slavic muslims (correct me if Im wrong) against Slavic christians.
However, Robert you should help us put this in perspective by provising us more information on and condemnation of Slobodan Milosevic with counterexamples of muslim massacres of Serbs. JWers need more info!

Asking the Kosovo Albanians to accept Serb rule after the Serbs tried to exterminate them is like asking the Jews to accept rule by HAMAS.

Here is the timeline of Balkans conflicts of the 1990s. Notice the first act by Milosevic. The Serbs somehow think that they are are OWED all of the Balkans and nobody else gets a vote. They managed to get the UN to disarm the Bosnians -- that means no weapons to defend yourself -- and then they shelled a defenseless Sarajevo for THREE YEARS, pounding it into rubble. They staged one of the attacks from the priceless Jewish Sephardic cemetery on the hills above the city. Then they got Orthodox priests to absolve them of sin BEFOREHAND, and then they went out and massacred 7,800 men and boys, after first making them strip so they could see if they were circumcised. If they weren't, they were assumed to be Muslim and shot. The Serb paramilitaries set up and ran rape camps both to use women and to demoralize the men. Interestingly, the Albanian Muslims held ceremonies to welcome the raped women back to the community and into their families, placing the blame entirely on the Serb men to whom it belonged.

Now Serbs call Kosovo "Serb ancestral lands." Well, actually, the former Yugoslavia is ancestral land to Kosovars, Albanians, Croats, Albanians, Greeks, Gypsies (Roma) -- whom the Serbs have deeply oppressed, Hungarians, Jews, Macedonians, Romanians, Slavs (modern-day Bulgarians, Croatians, Serbians and Slovenes), Turks. But Serbs think that only THEY have rights to call something ancestral lands.

As the timeline below outlines in detail, the Serbs ordered their own ethnic people OUT OF KOSOVO BEFORE THEY STARTED THE GENOCIDAL WAR AGAINST THE CROATS AND ALBANIANS LIVING THERE. Once the extermination was complete, of course, the Serbs would then settle the whole area. The ethnic cleansing would have taken care of all the "undesirable" people, whose lands and properties they would now be able to take.

Knowing this, the Kosovars of all ethnic groups banded together and asked NATO to airstrike Serb mortar positions, knowing that they would lose many of their own people, which they did. But to a person Kosovars agree that it was better those people die quickly than from the atrocities, rapes, and tortures (like being cut up alive in front of their own families) that they were dying of then.

The Hague Tribunal, poo-pooed by the Serbs as discriminatory, has tried cases of every ethnic group in the Balkans, including those of members of the KLA -- which was formed in defense of a people under threat of extermination. However, the cases of all NON-SERB groups accounts for 40% of the indictments. INDICTMENTS OF SERBS FORM 60% OF THE COURT'S ACTIONS, BECAUSE SERBS WERE THE AGGRESSORS. They had special privileges under Milosevic, and they want them back.

I do not suggest that the world allow the Serbs, with their record of atrocities equal only to that of the Third Reich, to take control of any other ethnic group for any reason.

If the Serbs wind up losing Kosovo, it's because they deserve to. And it's interesting that this website didn't decry the fact that the mostly Christian Montenegrins voted their independence from the vicious Serbs, but that it somehow tries to make a hero the Serbs when they try to refuse another ethnic group they tried to exterminate when it votes independence from the people who tries to "cleanse" them from the landscape.

It might be noted that Srdja Trifkovic went on Fox News and claimed that the Srebrenica video was a fake -- one day after the Serb government itself validated it as true. Very smooth. Grab national American TV and lie and hope people buy that crap.

This is not surprising after Trikovic's nearly decade-long attempt to conflate the moderate Islam of the Balkans (read: Pipes) with the radical Islam that is attacking the West. The hysterical claim made by this posting that if Kosovo gets independence Europe becomes Islamic is unworthy of the authors of the site. Well, maybe not. But if it's not beneath them it should at least be beneath most people, who hopefully have more integrity than to make so a yellow journalistic claim.

No one should ever make the mistake again of the letting the Serbs have control of any other ethnic group, ever. The former Yugoslavia was a communist-made league through which Tito, part Serb and part Croat, and Milosevic after him, gave Serbs ethnic hegemony. They sought to retain that against the free will of every other ethnic group in the Balkans.

Read it and weep, if you have any humanity left:

P.S. The Montenegrins voted themselves independent of Serbia last year. The Serbs decided not to fight it so they could hope to keep control of Kovoso. One might ask oneself why Kosovars have fewer rights than the Montenegrins for vote for their future.

Oh, I forgot. They're Muslim.

P.S.S. I'm not saying other ethnic groups did nothing wrong in this, though the Serbs were the initial aggressors and are still the aggressors.

The question now should be why ANY ethnic groups in the Balkans EVER have to ask SERB permission to be independent. Nobody should be asking these people permission for anything, and the Serbs have NO RIGHT to sabre-rattling over this issue.

You'd think they'd OWNED the former Yugoslavia. Isn't that they way they act? It was THEIRS and all the other ethnic groups have to accept Serb control or have war made on them.

And that is exactly what happened in the Balkans in the 1990s.

One group after another declared its independence of Serb control. And one group after another was attacked by Serbs, who took control of ALL THE WAR-MAKING MATERIEL OF THE FORMER YUGOSLAVIA.

So, the Serbs took all the guns and turned them on all the people who didn't want to be ruled by them.

And these are the people to whom you would give control of the Kosovars they tried to exterminate????

First I would like to thank JihadWatch for posting the article of Mr. Trifkovic and for putting this topic on its agenda.

I would like to add my personal experience on how Albanian Muslims became the majority in such a short period of time. It has nothing to do with cheap labour. The first seven years of my life I lived in Kosovo with my parents and my sister, in the city of Pec. When I was age six, my mother send me to a shop that was in the basement of our building, to bring her something. When I entered the shop, the shopkeeper, an Albanian, took a knife , brought it to my face and said he is going to kill me. Of course, I went home screaming. My parents went to the shop, - needless to say, the shopkeeper denied that he did what he did, in a typicall Muslim manner. This was 1969. Now, some of you will ask where was the police, where was the state. Well, after my father contacted them, the representatives of the state visited him and told him, he will loose his job and his children will be prevented from going to schools , should he talk about the event and further try to "spread Serbian nationalism across our society that is all about brootherhood and unity" ("brootherhood and unity" this is how present day "multiculturalism" was called in ex-Yugoslavia). Those state representatives who threatened him were not necessarily Albanians, as a matter of fact there were quite a few ethnic Serbs among them, but of course they were communists and the major content of their lives , the basis for their careers and wellbeing, was the "fight against Serbian nationalism". Sadly, the children of this nomenklatura are currently the biggest "democratcs" (pro-Western) and - no wonder - the major content of their lives is the "fight against Serbian nationalism". You get the twist...
The question is why there are such assholes among Serbs (my assesment: 35-40% of Serbian population, roughly those who voted the so called "democratic" parties, not counting DSS)? I guess it has to do with centuries long oppression that favours traitors (and still does), in some cases it has to do with stupidity, they believe that the world will finally give us a break if we give them whatever they want to have. They could be compared with those Jews who wrote some of the worst Antisemitic books. Or those who believed that they could be saved if they all leave Judaism. Also, don´t forget that this part of Serbian population (scum) in the past converted to Islam (Bosnian Muslims are ethnic Serbs who converted to Islam). I am not surprised that they won support of the so called "international community", - as born liars they have a fitting dress for every ocassion, while those bearing the truth wear always the same.

Serbian Girl

At least we here at JW understand that the Serbs are our true allies. I was stunned when the powers that be decided to intervens on the side of the islamic/mafia Kosovans, an intervention that I am sure we will come to regret.
The only thing that I am sure of - this is a temporary setback - very soon things will happen to redress this abominable situation of having a mafia/islanic cancer in the heart of Europe.

If not I am thinking of taking my entire familly to live in Serbia - one of the few Europeans to understand completely the Islamic threat

Morgaan Sinclair

You know fuck all about the history of the balkans - your pathetic post showed not only your lack of knowledge of the area but also politicqal bias for anything left - jerk!

I would just like to say that Morgan Sinclair's posts are simply talking points taken from the standard anti-Serbian propaganda matrix of the 90-ties. He starts with a complete falsehood that Serbs tried to exterminate Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija. Quite the contrary: for over 300 years Albanians were trying to exterminate Serbs from Kosovo taking help of any invader of Serbia that used to come by: Turks, Central powers in WWI, Nazis during WWII and the communists after it. In 1912 Serbs were over 60% of the population of Kosovo and Metohija. Now, nobody really knows. Albanian pretensions on Serb land of Kosovo and Metohija since the First Prizren league are well documented by serious historians

Assertions about Bosnia and Croatia are also full of half-truths, facts taken out of context and claims totaly detached from the reality on the field, especially his claim about the Serbs ruling everybody else. I can not be bothered to refute all of it, I just wanted to set the record straight.

Prove it, Witch-king of Angmar. Yes, I know. You can't.

The timeline speaks for itself.

And Johnny Mac, we all know about where you stand from FPM. Well, ante up. Let's see your HISTORY OF THE BALKANS.

Tell me where the timeline is wrong. Come on. Pull up that soap box and defy history. The politcal bias is yours.

The Serbian Nationalist Radical Party took 28.5% of the last election, the most of any party. It wasn't enough to run the country outright, though. (Thank God and I mean that in the deepest possible way.)

Here's a little taste of the anti-Semitism of the Serbian Defense League (there's a misnomer!). If you can't get it on the level of Albanian ethnicity being under attack from the Serb "ethnic cleansers" maybe you can get it on the level of anti-Semitism. They're anti-Catholic as well, but not to the degree they despise the Jews and Albanians.

Serbian Defense League
documenting Zionist genocides on Serbs
US Senate Jews unite to serve Zionist interests

Jews first committed genocide on Serbs, and then killed President Milosevic.

We at the Serbian Defense League extend our deepest condolences to the family of President Milosevic, and vow to do all we can to bring the criminals to justice. May our Serb brother finally find eternal peace.

In 1933 Judea declared a war when Germans wanted to take their country back from Jews who got control of the economy with cheap money after World War I when German currency was devalued. In response to this, many Jews were incarcerated in prison camps, as were the Japanese in America.

There is evidence that prior to the war's end when supply lines were cut and starvation and disease were rampant, these Jews were treated better than the Japanese in U.S. prison camps. After causing the European Holocaust, Jews hijacked it and they've been sucking our blood since.

By handing President Milosevic over to the ICTY Serbia lost its sovereignty opening the hunt on its citizens and Bosnian and Croatian Serbs -- therefore it should be divided among minorities that seek independence.

Dear reader, our pages prove beyond shadow of doubt that Jews, and specifically Jews, have conspired to break up Yugoslavia with the intent to form new states that would cast votes of support for Israel in the UN Security Council. Since only the Serbs opposed the breakup, Jewish media and organizations conducted smear campaigns based on lies to turn the world against our people who saved countless Jews in WWII. I invite you to join the Serbian Defense League and help bring the criminals to justice. Boris Pribich, founder

We will first present armed and dangerous Del Ponte with evidence against her and demand her surrender to house arrest until her trial. The SDL will not rest until she is prosecuted and punished for her crimes by hanging at the gallows. -- Boris Pribich, founder, April 12, 2004
Serbia: Jewess and a traitor with bloody hands
Natasa Kandic, left, is a Jewess portraying a Serb to make her lies credible. Tomislav Krsmanovic, right, betrayed his own people into the hands of their executioners, Jews, for the love of his Jewish wife. Many more traitors to come.

Jews herd stupid Americans like cattle against one people after another and they sell weapons to the enemy to kill Americans in order to profit from spilled blood.

UN's chief weapons inspector is a Jew -- Mr. Blix was one of the top figures in the extreme pro-Zionist liberal party, Folkpartiet, which had many top Zionist activists. Are Jews making Serbs pay for what they're doing to Muslims in the Middle East

Before the FRY civil wars U.S. Senator Tom Lantos, Jew, promised Albanians Serb Kosovo. During the wars Jewish media and PR firms demonized Serbs, U.S. Senator Arlen Specter, Jew, wrote Resolution 12, and General Wesley Clark, Jew, bombed Serbia. U.S. Congressman Benjamin Gilman, Jew, asked Secretary Madeleine Albright, Jew, to find evidence of alleged crimes; she assigned Michael Scharf, Jew, to write the statute which will indict Serbs. George Soros, Jew, financed Serbia's independent media, and Jews in the US trained Serbia's opposition Otpor. As Serbs were bombed off their ancestral lands world's Jewry united against the Serbs as one -- take note of how organized Jewry united and repeated the lies Jews fabricated about Serbs.

By using lies and their influence to turn world's powers against the Serbs, and by joining coalitions of Serb enemies, Jews transformed a civil war into genocide. In 1933 Jews world-wide declared war on Germany on behalf of German Jews; this time Jews world-wide committed genocide on behalf of the Zionist state of Israel.

Just when do you want to start from - shall we go back to when the Islamics first invaded Serbia and started to STEAL their children - hey wait a minute why the fuck are there Muslims living in Europe anyway - oh I forgot they came here to invade us with ARMIES.

2."The question now should be why ANY ethnic groups in the Balkans EVER have to ask SERB permission to be independent. "

No ethnic group that is part of a country has the RIGHT to be independent - you speak in Generalities I will speak in Specifics - KOSOVO has and always will be part of SERBIA THEY DO NEED TO ASK THE SERBIANS for permission to secede - just like the american south - GOT that yew fuclkin idiot!

"One group after another declared its independence of Serb control."
Yugoslavia was - if you did not know a federal State with a rotating presidency not at all under Serbian control - if anything its creator, TITO, a Croat weighed it heavily in favour of the minority states - no - what you witnessed was a civil breakup/war between previuously united states.

I'll refute just some. You start:

"June 1989
Serbs gather at the site of the Battle of Kosovo to commemorate its 600th anniversary. President Slobodan Milosevic, recently elected, uses the occasion to promote Serbian nationalism and strip Kosovo of all autonomy."

Your very first assertion is a lie. Here is the speech in full, there is nothing nationalistic in it. Had you actually bothered to read it you would have reached the same conclusion yourself.

http://emperors-clothes.com/milo/versions.htm

Kosovo and Metohija retained the status of an autonomous province it only had some authority curbed since it's postition was completely unnatural . It was de facto a state within a state where the Albanian majority systematically persecuted the Serb minority while the authorities simply looked the other way. It was extensively reported even in the NYT by David Binder as recently as 1987. Binder left the paper since ho could not tow to the antiserb party line that started to rule there.

The main reason why Serbia rejected the peace plan in 1999 was because it all but legalised the NATO occupation not only of Kosovo and Metohija but of the whole of former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and promised a referendum on independence to Kosovo Albanians after 3 years. And your sentence "Kosovar Serbs start moving north" is as absurd as it is offensive since the "move" was accomapnied with a campaign of terror and murder at the hands of the KLA that "promised to disarm".

When you speak of Croatia you conveniantly omit the nature of Tudjman regime, his ideological stance, the fact that he published one of the most notorious holcaust denying books: "The wastelands of historical truth" and that he brought back to Croatia a former ustaha official Ivo Rojnica and wanted public squares named after an ustasha minister Mile Budak. Ever hear about ustasha? Imagine a German official welcoming back Dr. Mengele or someone wanting Heinrich Himmler platz! Also you fail to mention that in ammending the constitution Croatia illegaly, without the consent of Serb representatives, took away the Serb people's status as a constitutional people.

As for Bosnia, you drag up another lie right at the start. You say that most of Bosnian Serbs voted against independence but that isn't true. The Serbs boycotted the referendum which was set up illegally and unconstitutionally since it was without the consent of the representatives of Serbian people as a constitutional people. More inconveniant facts you forget to mention. Also Croatian troops first appeared in Bosnia in March 1992 near Bosanski Brod and Brcko and UN troops reports confirmed as much, not in June as you falsely claim. The shelling in 1994 you speak of is higly disputed, several UN commanders asserted that it was not possible for a granade to come from the Serb positions.

You trying to make out the ex-Yugoslavia timeline start from 1989 is uttelry pathetic and highlights the ahistorical and ideological approach you have. You also omit facts that do not support your thesis and take events out of context. You unfortunatley picked the wrong place to do that.

Kosovo and Metohija were never part of any Albanian state in it's history and it was either Serbia or under occupation. Tha Albanian majority there was achieved through violence and opression.

Also, Morgan, to you Serb victims of war crimes simply do not exist or are a part of some "revenge campaign" against your inaginary genocidal policy of the Serbs and thus expandable, even desireable. And you dare speak of humanity.

LOL, Morgan you are utterly pathetic! You take up a site of a Serb moonbat and represent it as the opinion of the Serbian people. The character that owns the site Boris Pribic and his "organization" represents only himself. Nobody in the Serb community in the USA socializes with that whacko and neither is he welcome in Serbia.

Sinclair,

the point is that of course what belongs to Serbs cannot be taken away from them without their permission. Kosovo doesn´t belong to Albanians, even if there is no one single Serb living there. It never did. It is a Serb property. As a matter of fact it is more, much more than property and territory. Thus, of course the border cannot be changed without Serbian content.

The stories about mass rapes or even rape camps are lies, not more and not less. You should bring any evidence. Even the mainstream media, still interested in demonization of Serbs, dropped them, as there is no any evidence to support the claim (mainly launched by Bosnian imams. In case of Kosovo those stories haven´t even been launched as Albanians are less permissible society than Bosnian Muslims.) Now that NATO has access to every square meter of Kosovo and Bosnia, where are the mass graves and the evidence of a genocide? How comes that we have 2 million Albanians in Kosovo after the successfully executed genocide?

It is not true that Serbs started and there is evidence: the first victims, first people killed in Croatia begin of 90es was the Zec Family, one of the richest families there, Serbs. The first bullets fired in Bosnia were bullets on a Serbian wedding procession.

Serbs don´t want what is not theirs. But the refuse to give up what belongs to us. What we expect from the civilized world is to apply the same set of principles to all nations of the region. If this is a principle of ethnic majority, and this principle should be applied in case of Kosovo and they are the only ones to be asked what their wish is, and not the entire population of Serbia of which Kosovo is the part, what is than with Serbs in Bosnia. On which grounds do you deny them a right for selfdetermination? They are also majority in their region and there is no doubt that they A) don´t want to be part of unified Bosnia under Muslim rule and B) would like to join Serbia. On which gounds do you deny the right of hunders of thousands of Serbs who were expelled from Kraina to go back there and to selfdetermin whether they want to live in Croatia or to establish a state on a georaphically compact territory that they have populated for more than 500 years. Why shouldn´t they have an independant state, if you believe that that Kosovo-Albanians should? I am really missing some principals and some ethical principals in your contribution, what I see is blind hater. The question is why.

I suppose that your problem with Serbs is that they refuse to drop dead, so that everyone could have a slice from their country. I guess you are one of those who also support the rights of "Palestinians" and cosider Israel a Nazi state? Am I right? In case you are neither a Muslim or a member of an ethnic group from Central/Eastern Europe that used to be a very willing supporter and executor of Hitler ideas (they all hate Israel and Serbia alike), but a member of a core Western nation, I can only explain your attitude with fear of Muslims and wish to appease them by feeding them with morsels of Israel and Serbia. What would be the next step of you and those like you? To adopt Islam?

"And Johnny Mac, we all know about where you stand from FPM. Well, ante up. Let's see your HISTORY OF THE BALKANS."

Johnmac - FPM is FrontPageMag.com

Morgaan Sinclair spouts the Clinton propaganda that has been completely discredited. On photo used by Clinton showed a bunch of naked bodies in a ditch which they claimed were Muslims massacred by Serbs. However, the male corpses were clearly uncircumcized showing they could not be Muslims. Actually they were Serbs killed by the KLA which then tried to blame this own atrocity on its victims.

The only reason Albanians became a majority in Kosovo is because the Nazi Skanderbeg Brigade made up of Albanian Muslims massacred and expelled the Serbs while importing Albania settlers. This is a historical fact whether Morgaan Sinclair and his Al-Qaida/KLA allies want to admit it or not.

thanks justamomof4

Can anyone answer my question on the difference between Orthodox and Western Civilization.
I know everyone is busy nut I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

I know everyone is busy BUT I would be very grateful!

@Odyessus
Divide happened in 11th century when the Crussaders in 1204 attacked the Eastern roman empire and destroyed the Church Of Holy Wisdom. It was all the part of quest on Constantinopole.Orthodox christians are the historical continuation of the first christian community(as the word 'orthodox' says) holding to the most of the traditions that first christians had 2000 years ago.
It is very interesting question on topic about Serbs as many even today believe that Serbian Orthodox church is the key and first step to overcoming this divide.

As far as Kosovo is concerned....well
Why is everyone talking and talking here...when Serbs need concrete help.
Link yourself to www.savekosovo.org and send letter to your representative and to president Bush to stop this nonsence and help our allies.

Pythagoras, you really crack me up. I'm a communist because I disagree with you on blaming this mess on Russia. That's rich, because people who know me think I'm as right wing as you can get, and I think they're wrong on that as well.

You bring up ridiculous accusations that Putin is a Muslim to justify your rant, yet you side step the real issue here that the US is the bearer of this cross for the mess they created in this region. I am aware that Bosnia is 60% Muslim, I actually thought it was higher, but you sneakily side step the fact that your government along with the Germans, Brits and others empowered the creation of that state also.

I have never said that Russia was innocent of anything, and yes they are selling arms to Iran and dealing with other jihadist states. Tell me what makes them different than the US? The US is constantly arming jihadist states, even today when they claim to be fighting against them. How much military aid has gone from the US to Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan? Oh yeah, the US is pumping money into Palestine to help freedom fighters there now, come on wake up! Get real man the US has a schizophrenic policy when it comes to this matter and the quicker you wake up to it, the better.

Go talk to your politicians and tell them that they are in the wrong for the dubious bedfellows they court, and try to get your fellow countrymen to put pressure on your government. Blindly accepting that you are in the right without examination of the warped friendships you government has are counter productive.

Niv

Pythagoras you must be insane. Russia supporting Serbia losing Kosovo? Russia supported Serbia in the 1999 war against NATO, they send troops through Serb territory to Kosovo and tried to send weapons but were threatened with a navy blockade. They are the only ones opposing Kosovo independance. Your comments that Bosnia is 60% muslim are false, it's CNN/al Qaeda propaganda. The majority of Bosnia are non-muslims.

Morgaan

Who should we believe - people like Trifkivic or Serbian Girl, who are from the region, or lying weasels like you? It's because of low-lives like you that you have Western commentators who think that Jihad against the West is bad, but Jihad against countries like Serbia, Russia, India, Thailand, Ethiopia, Phillipines, et al is all fine and dandy. With the result that even anti-Jihadi forces in these countries end up befriending countries like Iran because of Western animosity towards them.

You want to go back in history - how about starting with the Ottoman empire? Or WWII? Serbian Girl writes above about how some supremacist activities of Serbs - such as not wanting their 6 year olds to be threatened with knives - were grounds for persecution by the Communists (just as the Soviets tried to curb Russian nationalism in favor of Central Asiatic peoples, as noted by Oleg Gordievsky in his book about the KGB).

I made the mistake in the 90s of thinking that the Serbs were in the wrong, due to their opposition to the secession of Slovenia and Croatia. Difference is that I'm willing to recognize that, and accept the accounts of people from that region, instead of a blind jingoistic 'US is always right' position, even if it means supporting 'wag the dog' policies of the KKKlintons.

What you should believe, Pride, and everybody else, too, is history, applying common sense. Look at the very first entry below. Read the rest. Now through a decade of violation, there were evils on all sides. But the Serbs were at fault because they abused and oppressed and made war on every other ethic group there. ALL ... ALL ... of them have VOTED THEMSELVES OUT OF SERB CONTROL.

Now, Kosovars, the oppression of whom began these wars, are voting for their own independence from the ethnic group that tried to exterminate them. They should have it.

Read it and weep ...

Odyseuss, as someone of the Greek Orthodox faith I have to say I have never really studied this split in detail, but I do have some info.

First of all sometime around the first crusade the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church had their great schism. This dispute was over the 4 separate areas of the Orthodox Church which were overseen by four separate Patriarch's. All Patriarch's in the Orthodox Church are seen to be equals, with the most prestigious chair being in Constantinople. The schism happened because the Pope of Rome believed in the supreme authority of his position over the others, while the Patriarch's claimed his position was symbolic only.

Now jump to the sacking of Constantinople by the crusaders, and the final fall of Constantinople on May 29, 1453. The Greeks had called for help and a contingent of soldiers from Italy arrived to help. I can't recall off of the top of my head if they were Venetians or Genovese soldiers, but when their leader was injured in the Ottoman assault they apparently packed their bags and left the city. This of course left the undermanned defenders worse than when they started and the city eventually fell. One more curiosity is that there was a report of an iron gate being left open by accident which allowed the Ottoman Turks the foot hold into the city they desired for almost 1000 years.

Also add to the atrocities Greeks in general have faced, was that while in the middle of fighting the Turks off, a contingent of Italian soldiers raided the monastery housing St. Nicolas' bones. They killed the monks protecting the bones and took his remains to Italy where they still remain today.

This is what I know about this rivalry and there are more reasons than that for sure..

A documentary called "Children of Kosovo" is an incredible asset in understanding this problem from the Kosovo Serb and ethnic Albanian points of view.

Starting another war over "Serb ethnic pride" to obtain "Serb ancestral lands" -- which are also considered ancestral lands for at least 7 other ethnic groups -- is a real possibility here.

And if you buy the "logic" of the Serb demands that they control all other ethnic groups in the Balkans -- now reduced in ambition to the Kosovars -- then get off North America and go back to wherever your ancestors are from and give it all back to the Indians.

Because that's the argument here. Note that in the Timeline the beginning of the problem is the 600 year anniversary of a Serb defeat in Kosovo.

They end up the celebration by TAKING AWAY Kosovar autonomy in the region. The Kosovars right now are just getting back what was theirs to begin with: a right to say how they lived and who ruled them.

Morgaan Sinclair, your facts as stated by others here are flatly wrong and are the real problem the Serbs face.

All of the reports of genocide and ethnic cleansing, rape camps and whatever atrocity you would like to bring forward have been proven completely false.

The first American journalist to report these events as false was Daniel Pearl in the New York Times. Of course this revelation was passed over and ignored as it did not suit the powers that be.

A Canadian journalist named Scott Taylor wrote a book called An Uncivil War and exposed all of the falsehoods you are portraying here.

He talked about the Kosovar Albanian women interviewed on television talking about the rape camps and the torture they endured, and how a year after the war the sisters were found alive and well admitting they lied about everything. Of course they were un apologetic about it as they said "you do what you have to do".

I find you very curious as you completely ignore the facts that the Serbs have endured more atrocities in that region than anyone else, simply because they took the righteous road. What I mean by that is that they were our allies through two World Wars, they suffered at the hands of Croatians and Muslims who took the side of the Nazi's. They were routinely executed in the famous camp Josanovic by Croatians and Muslim Albanians for standing up for what was right, and what is their reward for this stance, being fed to the sharks by your traditional allies.

After the NATO bombing in Yugoslavia, NATO investigators combed the entire region looking for the 100,000 mass graves Jamie Shea spoke of. They found a total of 6,000 bodies which were a mix of Serb, Gypsy and Albanian. Some genocide, but now there is overwhelming evidence of genocide against the Serbs committed by the lovers of multiculturalism the Muslim Kosovar's. The religion of peace shows its tolerance by destroying churches a time honored practice by Muslims, and fools like you spew your lies and bs about as if its reality.

Infidel Pride.

The conflict in Slovenia was not between Serb nationalists and Slovenians. It was between mainly communists loyal to the old Yugoslavia and Slovenia. Read the description of what happened in Slovenia in 1991

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten-Day_War

Even an anti-serb description of the conflict states the following:

"The Slovenians were also well aware that the Serbian government of Slobodan Milošević was not particularly concerned about Slovenia's independence, given the lack of any significant Serbian minority in the country. On 30 June, Defence Minister General Kadijević suggested to the Yugoslav federal presidency a massive attack on Slovenia to break down the unexpectedly heavy resistance. But the Serb representative, Borisav Jović, shocked the military establishment by declaring that Serbia did not support further military action against Slovenia.[10]"

Morgaan

How about the fact that within Bosnia, there weren't just Serb-Muslim wars, but Croat-Muslim wars? Your bullet about

June 1992 ... Croatia joins the war in Bosnia on the side of the Muslims.
conviniently ignores the fact that there is a Croatian minority in Bosnia as well, and that Croatia joined this conflict in support of the Bosnian Croats, just as Serbia joined this in support of the Bosnian Serbs.

Also, you conviniently ignore Serbian Girl's point above that this war in Bosnia was sparked by an attack on a Serbian wedding procession. Neither do you address how Macedonia and Montenegro both seceeded without going to war with Serbia.

Like I said, you are anti-Jihad when it comes to the West, but pro-Jihad when it comes to other people. With allies like you, who needs enemies?

European Crusader

I stand corrected. Yes, I remember how Yugoslavia was opposed to Slovene independence, and it was a mistake of me to conflate Belgrade, as in the Yugoslav regime with Belgrade of the Serbs.

I am aware that a Crusader army sacked Constantinople. Thank you for the other historical events you filled in.
The question I was trying to answer was: Is the Western/Orthodox split due to bad history or is a fundamentally cultural/social/religious split?
I know that when the Pope travelled to Occupied Constantinople his main aim was to improve relations with the Orthodox Church. The bone of contention that the Orthodox hierarchy have with Rome is presumably to do with theoretical stuff – theological disagreements not the actions of some looting soldiers…..or am I wrong?
Should Samuel Huntington have used the expression “Orthodox civilization” or should he have said Russian/Greek/Serbian civilization?
We could all try to summarise the characteristics of various civilizations – Hindu, Japanese, Islamic, Confuscian etc
Note I mean the characteristics, not simply the events in terms of dates, battles fought etc.
I mean if I was going to summarise Islamic civilization what would I say? Something like this:
There is a rigid tendency to divide the world into believers and non-believers, women occupy a strictly subordinate role, meaningful self-criticism is almost never practiced, any failure is always attributed to a malign outside power such as America or Israel etc, etc etc……..
So what are the characteristic of Orthodox civilization as opposed to Western?
This is a difficult, theoretical question I know but I would be grateful is someone was brave enough to answer it.
I mean someone like Putin is so unpredictable I have never understood his pscyology, motivations etc.

What happened in kosovo was the same thing that happened to us in Cyprus when turks invaded and stole the north.

the EU are hypocrites the EU does not recognise the northern occupied turkish part of Cyprus as a legal state. So Why is kosovo not recognised as a illegal state occupied by albanian muslims? kosovo is serbian and always was just like north Cyprus was always greek till barbaric turks came.

all i got to say to turk appeasers like morgan who help muslims to steal our homes away is to fuck of and give there own home to turks or albanians and leave us christians alone.

What happened in Serbia will happen here in the UK and the West, as well. Its only a matter of time till we or our descendents will have the same choice the Serbs had - submission or death. That has been the case whenever Islam has invaded, by invasion in the main, or by immigration.

Odysesuss, once again I cannot claim to be an authority on the subject, but I promise you I will look into it and see what kind of answers I can bring you.

My feeling on this split is definitely a theological religious split, and the historical fighting is added salt to the wounds of this split.

On a personal note I think of the civilization as an Orthodox one, and not one that takes divisions of Serbian, Russian and Greek. I know when speaking with family when referring to Serbian or Russian issues we seem to view them as Orthodox issues. I don't know on a personal level if Serbian and Russians reciprocate that feeling.

As to your question of what are the characterizations of Orthodox civilization as opposed to western, well that is a tough one. Personally I see Orthodox civilization as western, seeing both stem from previous Greek philosophies, however the mindset of Orthodox Christians is one of a siege mentality. We often feel that we are the ones that are being sold out by other westerners on issues such as the ones discussed here. Turkey being favored over Greeks in pretty much everything you can imagine, Serbs being sold out in Yugoslavia, and even Coptic Christians being hung out to dry in the mid east. We can keep adding how Catholic Italians and Croatians have historically taken advantage of Orthodox Christians in many conflicts going as recent as WWII and the current crisis in the Balkans.

I know this probably isn't what you're looking for, but again I will look into this deeper and see what else I can give you.

Sincerely,
Niv

If anyone cares the Bosnian demographic breakdown according to the CIA is 40%Muslim, 30% Orthodox, 15% Catholic and 14% other.

One thing they don't mention is that a huge percentage of that Muslim demographic is made up of foreign mujahideen that have settled there to carry on their conquest of Europe. Hey Morgaan you can take that info, fold it five ways, and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Odyseuss , try this link out. Go to the half way point on the page to Byzantine/Roman Empire read that and below that is the Great Schism. Seems to be a descent read. On the surface it seems that aside from some differences the two sides are mostly separated by language and minor cultural differences.

Odyessus---while I am no expert and I sadly fall short, I am baptized an Orthodox Christian and I can tell you that I do not view the Orthodox peoples as separate or different from the 'west', but I do sense that those who are not Orthodox Christians view us as 'different from the west'...why? perhaps because Orthodoxy is not just a religion, but a way of life...and to the Christians from the west, perhaps, that is just too foreign for them--compared to modern day Catholicism and Protestantism, Orthodox Christianity is more like basic training in the Marines. We are a community of prayer and fasting, of tradition and scripture. We observe the church calendar, it's feast and fast periods, fasting when required eating only that from the ground and the sea. We study scripture, we commemorate the Saints, we gather for holy Liturgy. We do good work, we try to be the best we can be through the teachings of Christ. We do not recognize the 'innovations' that have been brought on by Rome and the subsequent divisions within that branch of the original Church...papal authority and such... you can find more on this "difference" at sites around the web on Orthodox Christianity:
http://www.orthodoxinfo.com/
http://www.goarch.org/en/ourfaith/introduction/
http://www.orthodoxlinks.info/heritage/firststeps/
It's a meager attempt, but I hope it furthers your understanding.

sigh...the madness of Morgaan Sinclair his/her ilk is sad indeed...me thinketh he/she doth protest too much---as if diarhea of the keyboard will somehow make lies acceptable...sounds like taqia to me...let's shed some light on Kosovo before the lies were spread by the serbophobes---

Articles written when Kosovo was not famous...

Background material about Kosovo, especially the material disseminated by mainstream channels, is deficient in many aspects, but perhaps the most startling feature of many such articles is the singular way of examining the history of the region. We are told that Kosovo is the cradle of Serbian nation and we learn about the battle of 1389 and then, in most articles, with a gigantic leap that would make envious any athlete, the article strides 600 years later, in 1989, when the Kosovo autonomy was rescinded by Milosevic. What happened during these 600 years, pray tell? Or, at least, what happened during the last few years before 1989?

It is now difficult to write about the recent past of Kosovo without taking into account the war which is raging just now. So, it occurred to me that if I managed to find articles written in the 80s, when Kosovo was not famous, at least these would be free of any bias due to the later events.

A good friend who is also a wizard in database searching undertook the task and here is the fruit of his labours, a bunch of older articles about Kosovo. Be warned, the articles were not written for posterity. These were run-of-the-mill, "boring" articles about contemporary events. But perhaps here lies their interest, for they present the situation without any make-up. Anyway, here they are...

"THE INTERESTS OF THE JIHADISTS AND THE INTERESTS OF THE SOCIALISTS MEET IN THE WAR AGAINST THE WAR AGAINST THE CRUSADERS"---Ousamah bin Laden.

By socialists, bin Laden is referring to Communist bloc states, namely Russia and China.

On the global stage Russia, China, and Islam have formed a joint axis to destroy the western world. Go call me insane. Go hide under your bed. Go run to your Mommy. I do not care what YOU personally think of me. And why the hell should I?

This axis is now a geopolitical reality. Russia nowadays openly arms Iran with ballistic missiles and nuclear technology Iran AFTER the Iranian government has HAS ANNOUNCED PLANS TO ATTACK ISRAEL AND THE UNITED STATES. That tells me all I need to know about Russia's geopolitical ambitions. In addition, Russia openly works with the Chinese military and shares technology and conducts war games in the Yellow Sea with the Chinese Military. The Chinese military if you didn't know trained al-Qaeda in the 1990s--AFTER al-Qaeda declard war on the United States. So there is no longer any question that Russia, China, and al-Qaeda are working in a joint axis.

The Kremlin is now pro-Islam--if only for geolpolitical motives. And vice-versa.

There is nothing YOU can tell me that I cannot interpret from the news for myself.

NOW

It would seem that you do not (or cannot) distinguish betweeen the Russian and government. Until you do and unless you are able to comprehend geopolitics you are NOT going to understand Russia's geopolitical games on the global stage. If Russia can have the whole world, what would it care about Kosovo? Why would it care about a toilethole like THAT? In fact why would it care about the Balkan Peninsula? How many people outside the Balkans really care about the Balkans anyway? You tell me why they should.

What you refuse to understand is that the Russian government is NOT interested in the Balkans or democracy. It is interested in GLOBAL POWER. The fact that YOU cdare about Kosovo and Serbia does NOT mean that the Kremlin does.

By the way, Russia ceded independence to Azerbaijan years ago, are y9ou completely certain that it wouldn't see Kosovo in the same way?

This is an apples to pears comparison. Russia didn't cede independence to anybody. Russia seceeded from the Soviet Union on the Christmas of 1991, after banning the Russian Communist party, and in order to pull that off, they first persuaded Ukraine and Belarus, and following that, the remaining Soviet republics to seceed. There were a lot bigger prizes than Azerbaijan that Russia lost as a result of pulling this off - Kazakhstan (with far greater oil revenues than Azerbaijan, and a 50% ethnic Russian population to boot), and most precious to Russia - Ukraine - with the prized Crimea and the Black Sea fleet. Given that at the time Russia wanted to disband the Soviet Union (or more precisely, Yeltsin wanted to oust Gorbachev, and this was the cleanest and most systematic way he could do that with Western support), they had to accept that they were losing a lot of things. While the Kremlin has since tried to get Crimea back, as well as Ukraine and Belarus, fact remains that with the 6 Turkic and 1 Farsi Republic, they had no choice but let go, although they continued to exercise heavy influence with some of them, like Tajikistan.

The more appropriate apples to apples comparison between Russia and Serbia, as far as Kosovo goes, is Chechnya. Almost immediately after Russia became an independent country, the Chechens wanted to follow suit of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, et al, and here, the Kremlin very emphatically said Nyet. It has since been locked in a war that has made the Afghan war look like a picnic, and made the world's one time other superpower look ridiculous. In fact, given the problems they have run into in Chechnya, as well as the problems and expenses in maintaining the Russian army, it's ridiculous to suggest that they have the same ambitions as they did as the Soviet Union. Just look at how pathetic their attempts to install puppet regimes in Kiev and Minsk turned out, and the idea of their controlling Islamic countries, where they have even less clout (than in Ukraine and Belarus, both of which depend on Russia for their energy needs and raw materials), is even more ludicrous.

The above posters are also right re: Russia's stance vis a vis Kosovo. When Clinton wanted to wage his 'Wag the dog' war, why do you think he went through NATO? He did it because he knew that Moscow would veto any anti-Serb Security Council resolution. I actually consider it amazing that given Moscow's strong opposition to the NATO war on Kosovo, that they allowed the bombing to continue without retaliating militarily. One would have thought that the US would not risk going to war with Russia over Kosovo, given that the Cold war was history, and moreover, none of the ex Yugoslav republics were NATO members. Actually, by letting NATO get away with what it did, the Russians inadvertantly sent a signal that the US could militarily do anything anywhere, and Moscow either could or would do nothing about it. After all, if the Russians didn't stop Serbia from being bombed, what makes one think that they'd risk Russian blood for Iran?

On Putin, while it has been tough to put one's finger on him, it seems that he was initially an ally against the Jihad, but turned against it when the State Department hosted a self styled Chechen leader, to which the Kremlin justifiably took umbrage. In the aftermath of 9/11, apart from being the first foreign leader to condole the US, he also allowed Uzbekistan and Kyrghyzstan to allow the US to establish forward operating bases there for the war. Why do you think that 4 years later, Moscow, through the Shanghai Co-operation council, got Tashkent and Bishkek to withdraw those facilities? It was the State Departments acquiescence of the Jihad against Russia, their crocodile tears over Beslan notwithstanding.

If Russia has been guilty of supporting Jihadi forces like Iraq, Iran and Syria (and it has), the US (particularly the State Department) has been guilty of supporting Chechens and Albanians by calling on the Kremlin to respect their human rights while the latter indulged in Jihad. If Russia is an adversary of the US today, it's because the State Department (and the Clinton administration before it) forced them there.

The Clinton-NATO war against the Serbs was sold to us--the American public--as a"humanitarian" endeavor to stop the "ethnic cleansing" of the poor "Kosovars" (Albanian Moslems).

The bill of goods sold to us by Clinton demonstrates the power of propaganda--when used by a government (administration) to deceive the people.

How we wrung our hands about the fate of the "poor Kosovars," as film and reported stories by the like of L'Amanpour filled our television screens.

Jewish community centers and synagogues in places like Los Angeles welcomed the "poor Moslem Albanian Kosovars" with open arms as fellow persecuted victims. If they only knew! (Knew what Islam teaches about Jews.)

The blame for this deceit falls squarely on Bill Clinton (or "Slick Willy" as he was known when he was President--although knowing anything about his willy was more information than we needed).

The lies, the sleight-of-hand, of Clinton and his administration makes one do one's utmost to keep the Clinton woman from reaching the pinnacle that she so disgustingly yearns for.

This UN independent Kosovo "placate the muslims " thing is a rehash of an immoral, incredibly stupid policy which was already tried and failed miserably. The bombing of the Serbs on behalf of the jihadis didn't lead to any sort of rise of Islamic moderates in the muslim world, on the contrary jihadis have increased in power since then. But it did achieve making Russia see the US and NATO as a threat to its' territorial integrity via US lack of real opposition (and quite likely a measure of support) to Chechen terrorists, playing a significant role in the fall of Yeltsin, who trustingly and reflexively supported just about any US foreign policy, and in the rise of Putin, who views US intentions towards Russia with suspicion and so often now tries to counteract US policy by forming other alliances on the international stage. Just about all the instances of Russia trying to frustrate US on the international stage happened AFTER the unprovoked Clinton engineered NATO attack on Yugoslavia which caused the Russian foreign policy thinking to change and once again see NATO as a real military threat to Russia.

If Bush continues the stupid Clinton policy you can expect more of the same - totally forgetting of any favors done for muslims by Bush by the muslims and instead continued rise of jihadis, but accompanied by further alienation of Russia. Putin would likely respond to such a policy by taking a similar Machiavillian tack and cutting a deal with Iranians in return for Iranian help with his Chechnya problem. Bush needs to build a common front with other countries fighting jihad, not get into a bidding war for muslim "moderates", because as only the potentially anti-Israel states like Russia and EU can offer the muslim "moderates" what they really want - help with the "final solution" to the Israel issue, if Bush chooses to make this a bidding war for muslim "moderate" hearts, Bush will lose.

Bush and most of the leadership do not realize the scale of the jihad - against nazism, we allied ourselves with Stalin, and Putin is nothing close to Stalin - but the jihadis are as bad as the nazis. Last thing that Bush should be doing is picking fights with other countries facing jihad, but when you see stupid stuff like the proposed NATO membership for Ukraine, you gotta wonder. Russia is NOT defensible by conventional forces if Ukraine is in NATO, that's a fact. Assurances that NATO is an organization dedicated to spread of democracy and human rights ring hollow after the Clinton action in Kosovo. Two invasions have rolled into Russia in the past century from the west, and they weren't bringing democracy and human rights, the one in 1940 caused especially severe casualties. Facing global jihad, the last thing Bush should be doing is provoking another country also facing jihad into a confrontation with the US by backing it into a corner - which is what Bush will be doing if he lets Albanians take Kosovo from Serbia over Serb and Russian objections.

Pythagoras

The basic problem is you don't have a clue about what's going on in Europe.

You babble about Russia ceding independance to Azerbaijan, when Azerbaijan was not a part of Russia, it was a part of the Soviet Union just as Russia was. Have you ever heard of Nagorno-Karabakh? It's an Armenian enclave that broke away from Azerbaijan after a war, and guess who supported the Christian Armenians and who supported the muslims??? In case you don't know it was the US that supported muslims and Russia supported the Armenians. Just as in Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Cyprus and Chechnya the US supports muslims against Europeans.

I don't trust Russia in anyway but they are not responsible for the creation of 2 muslim states on Christian European soil: Bosnia and Kosovo. The Serbs were winning both those wars until the US interferred and secured a muslim victory. Tell me what muslim states did Russia create on American or European soil???

Sure Putins support of Iran is a betrayal of the European civilization, but far worse is the US support of saudi arabia adn pakistan, the 2 main countries behind 9/11. The arabs and pakistanis are far worse than iranians, they are the most criminal and aggressive immigrants in Europe, because unlike the Persians, they don't have any other identity than islam and hatred of infidels. So shove your babble about Russia and Iran and focus on who the real enemy is.

Well aid, European Crusader. It is beyong me why so many at JW/DW seem to be so anti-Russian. Russia has suffered more Islamic terrorism than any other country. Before that, she suffered 70 years of Soviet Communist genocide and oppression. It makes no sense for the US and Europe to purposely alienate Russia and Serbia.

As for Putin's dealings with Iran, this is pure realpolitik. Russia is in a terror war against Al-Qaida style Chechen jihadists who are all Sunnis. In fact, almost all of Russia's Muslims are Sunni. Therefore, there is no threat to Russia from Shi'ites. Iran has little love for these Sunni/Wahhabi terrorists and is willing to support Russia even against fellow Shi'as in Azerbaijan. Iran even helped armed the Christian Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh to fight the Azeris. They know that a strong Azerbaijan can threaten Iran by encouraging Azeri secession in Iran's northwest. So even for the Iranians, realpolitik will triumph over Islamic unity in order to preserve their own power. The ayatollahs may be evil but they're not stupid.

European Crusader and Provoslavni, I'm with you guys. Far too many people here are targeting the wrong guys (Russia).

Don't bother giving any more rebuttals to Pythagoras he's out to lunch. If I remember correctly, several months ago he was spewing bs on how he believed the Serbs were guilty in this mess.

I'm pretty sure about that one as I faintly remember questioning him on it.

Let me just add that I've been 100% pro-american since 9/11. I'm just clueless about why the US continues to support people who are allied with the people that attacked America.

European crusader, even with all of the anti US stuff I spew out here, I too am 100% pro American.

However what comes with that is a desire for America to wake up and do what is right. I can't allow her to go unquestioned when enormous glaring mistakes are made. Furthermore I recognize that in this dangerous time in history the US is our only true hope, and she needs to smarten up.

By the way it took me a while to find the article but here it is. If you want to waste some of your time on Pythagoras views click on this archived link.

What I remember about is that I saw it after you couldn't post anymore. An interesting thing here is that in the posts there is something about the Medak Pocket. One of my best friends fought in the Medak Pocket and the things he saw the Croatians did led by Bosnian Muslim Agim Ceku were nothing but atrocious.

thanks the_finatic for posting that old link of jihadwatch now i know who pythagoras is his just a other morgan sinclair islamofacist who hate's serbs and probably other orthodox christians and love's the albanians and turks and would love to see serbs wiped out or be muslims people like that are pure evil

provoslavni
As for Putin's dealings with Iran, this is pure realpolitik. Russia is in a terror war against Al-Qaida style Chechen jihadists who are all Sunnis. In fact, almost all of Russia's Muslims are Sunni. Therefore, there is no threat to Russia from Shi'ites. Iran has little love for these Sunni/Wahhabi terrorists and is willing to support Russia even against fellow Shi'as in Azerbaijan

i agree with you i think putin maybe is trying to pay back saudi arabia for supporting the chechens i know that saudi arabia is scared of iran getting nuclear weapons i think maybe if iran becomes powerful with nukes and wipes out terrorist saudi arabia it might be a good idea

A Jewish writer who gets it on what the Albanians are up to. Unlike the other Jewish dupes who carry the Jihadis' water for them...

Radical Islam's Dupes

Dear Morgana, one can not be an agressor when one is defending what is ones.

Unlike the people who made decisions about our (Serbian) destiny, who know nothing about our history, we (Serbs) do know - we lived it.

Yes, we did some things that people should not do - we killed and we hated and we were stupid.

We are paying for it.

But, what you see now in Kosovo and what you saw in Bosnia you will see in your own backyards in 10, 20, 50 years.

You take them for they are hungry, and poor, and you give them jobs and hope that they will accept you as friends or brothers even, citizens of the same county - but they won't. They will wait, and procreate like rats do - having 12 children while you have 1 or 2. And then when the moment is right - they will strike you. They will then cry outrage and tell everyone how you are agressor for defending what is truly yours. And then some world power which knows nothing about what is going on will come and bomb you into submission and you will have to watch them rape what is yours while they say that it is you doing it.

But, what can I say - we got you Morgana to tell us the "truth" - the "truth" that we lived for 15 years now - the truth and reality of seeing sons of pilots you died to protect only 50 years ago come and bomb you as you were their enemy - nations you fought along the same side come and take yours and give it to those they themselves fought against.

But, hey thats the truth - CNN says so - it must be. We (Serbs) are murderers, rapists, look all those babies on the carts in rain - evil Serbs - and then you take those same babies and they grow up and kill you, for to them you are just another Christian, just like Serb were.

And you will take them into your home, and they will wait, wait for that moment in the future when you won't remember the evil Serbs, for there won't be any left - and you will be to busy defending what is yours from those you saved - and then - only then you will know - how stupid you were - but - it will late.

...the last Jewish writer who 'got it' was Daniel Pearle. He wrote about the truth of what was happening in the Balkans and paid with his life.
