KUALA LUMPUR -- Authorities in northern Malaysia plan to annul nearly 200 marriages performed by an imam who allowed Muslim men to secretly take multiple wives, reports said Thursday.Officials in Kelantan state, the only state in the country that is ruled by a hardline Islamic party, said that the imam belonged to a criminal syndicate that charged couples for covert wedding ceremonies.
"The imam is not authorized to solemnize marriages," the director of Kelantan's Islamic affairs department, Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, was quoted as saying in the New Straits Times, adding that 199 couples would be summoned.
"We are tracing them through the addresses provided to the syndicate," Abdul Aziz said. "Surprisingly, the addresses are correct but nothing about their marriages is valid. The certificates, stamps, and signatures were all forged."
The syndicate, believed to be in operation for about five years, is used by Muslim men who want to take extra wives without their spouses knowing, and also by eloping couples, the newspaper said.
Good heavens, no wonder Islamists feel so inadequate - they can't even figure out how to cheat on their wives like normal jerks and rotters!

It is more than just this one area. I know alot of Thai muslims secretly have up to four wives. My wife is thai and her friend married a Muslm from Malaysia that had three wives already. I know alot of Malay Muslims have wives and familes both in thailand and malaysia. The women often live alone or with their parents and their husbands come about monthly with support and get sex and what not. The same thing happens in Muslim coummunities in the US and europe. Alot of them also mistress that are non muslims beyond their four wives too.
It's time the US and Europe put a stop to the multiple marriages. The extra wives are being supported by the state. Any country that would consider making a tax break for this is insane.
The father ends up being absent for his children financially and emotionally.
Anyone on the dole should provide DNA or no support. The DNA should be used to track down the other parent if two kids have the same DNA. The mom can't say she doesn't know who the papa is in that case.
It should not be allowed to become an accepted lifestyle. It is planned out as a financial plan.
Polygamy causes poverty.
So, you careless Pakistani authorities, give them the 'Sharia' they long for. That, at least, will have the benefit of getting them, forcibly if necessary, out of the Library (what a contradiction in terms - a library in a madrassa: a few hundred nicely ornamented korans, some versions of the ahadith and, if Pakistani School Inspectors are to be believed, tens of thousands of pictures [bound into scrolls] of 'the martyrs': this is a death cult, indeed) - a place where no woman has the right to be, the capability to use, or the intellect to benefit from. According to the so-called holy texts of islam, that is!
