Minneapolis car rampage driver: "Allah made me do it"

Shades of Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, who wrote lengthy treatises explaining his hit-and-run murder attempts as fidelity to the Qur'an, and echoing the initial statement made by Omeed Aziz Popal -- which was later discounted by investigators.

"Rampage behind the wheel leaves trail of destruction," by David Chanen and Anthony Lonetree in the Star Tribune, with thanks to Tim:

As Arie Ford went inside to gather her two children from her Minneapolis home Wednesday morning, a man stole her idling car. A few blocks away, he repeatedly rammed that car into a cab driven by her brother and injured a well-known 79-year-old North Side clothes store owner.

Within minutes, the man was at the intersection of N. 7th Street and Plymouth Avenue, bouncing off cars and between buildings, stealing a van and then crashing that, too, police said. The five minutes of chaos ended when a group captured the man and held him down until police arrived.

Witness Jeffrey Ford said the suspect's father told officers the suspect had mental problems.

"He could have hurt a lot of people," said Arie Ford, who isn't related to Jeffrey Ford.

Lois Schupmann, the business owner who was injured when the stolen car rammed the cab, was in satisfactory condition Wednesday evening. Nobody else was hurt.

When asked by investigators why he went on the crime spree, the 22-year-old suspect said, "Allah made me do it," according to a source with knowledge of the case.

Proof positive that Allah's real name should be Illah-he obviously causes mental problems.

"Allah made me do it"

That says all it needs to say about the "God" these fanatics worship.....Alalalalalalalala!

Perhaps this punk figures since he is now represented by an Islamist in Congress, he can get by with this.

Well at last someone is admitting this is a mental illness.

Another documented case of demonic possession by the Babylonian, moongod called allah.

Well we might as well put Mohammad on trial as well if this guy claims he caused him to do it.

"When asked by investigators why he went on the crime spree, the 22-year-old suspect said, "Allah made me do it,"

I can believe that!!! I suggest an Exorcist.

"the suspect's father told officers the suspect had mental problems" - islamodementia

Oh, I get it. This is what they mean by "Driving while Muslim".
Take two jihads and call me in the morning.

Another case of Compulsive Destructive Pscho Islamic Disorder...

..LOok for CAIR to Jump in and accuse the hit and run victims of being Islamophobic...

Who in his right mind would do this regardless of the reasoning? Murder is still murder regardless of the motivation. What is really the difference between this and a cracked psycho who starts shooting random people on the street? Could he have just as easily said "The Devil made me do it"?

The old "Allah made me do it" excuse. Yep. I've used it many times myself. I think it works better in Arab countries, though. It never seems to work for me.

"What is really the difference between this and a cracked psycho who starts shooting random people on the street? "

The difference may be that this mans religion instructs him to "kill the infidels," This mans religions preaches this, mandates this, and actually give instructions on the various ways to do this in their mosques (their "churches" for the uninformed).

A cracked psycho is but one person..Islam is millions strong and closing in on your neighborhood...

Better wake up buuuddddddyyy.

At the risk of dating myself, this reminds me of Geraldine on the old Flip Wilson show, who always claimed, "The devil made me do it!"

Ever notice it's always the nutzos that claim a supreme deity directed them to do some action they eventually get arrested for? And they usually all have some really bent mental disorder going on as well.

Of course, the Koo-Ran does specifically direct this kind of behaviour.

The Muzlim was praying during his Jihad:

"The suspect later told police that he continually yelled, "Die, die, die, kill, kill, kill" during the incidents, said the source with knowledge of the investigation."

======================
Highest prayer to the most merciful allah-tallah:

"Die, die, die, kill, kill, kill."

"...the suspect's father told officers the suspect had mental problems."

There is some sort of trend on this, The killer of Theo Van Gogh was alleged to have mental problems, the LAX El Al assualt rifle killer was alleged to have mental problems, the UNC car hit and run attacker was alleged to have mental problems, ... etc...

Take your pick, but it appears that authorities attempt or friends attempt to discount jihad as cause of murderous behavior, instead a disease accounts for their crimes.

Yes (he or she) must have been crazy, to (kill or injure) others in the name of religon. The average Judeo-Christian does not have the frame of reference to understand how religous teaching could indoctrinate an individual with murderous rage. Yes, (he or she) must have been crazy. Stay tuned for the next attack and you will see the mental excuse dusted off and paraded out again.

Or maybe I am wrong. Maybe the explanation is that Islamic Jihad IS a mental disease.

Oh by the way, in a measure of fairness, I must recognize that the opposite is true. In Pakistan last year, there was the case of the man that publicly renounced his belief in Islam and converted to Christianity. The sentence for such an act is death penalty, however, the authorities decided that he must have been crazy/had a mental disease, thus he could be forgiven for his trangression. Yes, any Muslim that renounces Islam must be crazy... So it goes...

Reminds me of that hit-and-run case recently in the Bay Area. An Afghan from Fremont took his SUV, drove to San Francisco and ran over people walking on the sidewalk. His parents said he was mentally ill.

Connect the dots...

The suspect later told police that he continually yelled, "Die, die, die, kill, kill, kill"

It's odd that the Red Star chose not to release the name of the suspect. Probably for the better though, cuz if it turns out his name is Somali or Arabic, some readers could become Islamophobic.

I wonder where the suspect got his inspiration?

The battle cry of the Companions of Mohammed that night was: "Kill! Kill! Kill!"
--- Tabari VIII:141

This is the 3rd or 4th time in recent memory that one of these nut cakes has gone on a rampage with a motor vehicle and striking down innocent Americans.....And they want to have their faces covered in their driver license photos?

Connect the dots is right..

American comedian Flip Wilson used to say 'The Devil made me do it.'

But that was funny and not meant to be taken seriously.

A few years ago there was a similar Moslem incident not far from this latest one in Minneapolis. A real tragedy involving apparent mental illness where a crazed Somali shouting “Allah” among other things in his native tongue before attacking police officers with a machete and being shot dead on the spot.

Dig this article about the tragic incident, and who gets the focus as the bad boy:

Minneapolis police, public officials and community members continue to search for answers following Sunday's shooting death of an apparently mentally ill Somali man.

Police shot the man after he allegedly refused to drop a machete and a crowbar he was carrying. Somalis in the south Minneapolis neighborhood where the shooting happened are angry at what they call excessive force used by the police. And mental health advocates say the shooting points out the shortcomings of the system that is supposed to help avoid such tragedies.

Chicago Crossings Shopping Center, at the corner of Franklin and Chicago Avenues in Minneapolis, is a small scale representation of the Phillips neighborhood itself. There's an Asian grocery next to a Somali market, which is next to a Subway sandwich franchise with a Cambodian owner.

It was at this corner that a confusing confrontation between Abu Kassim Jeilani and police ended with Jeilani dead, and many Somali residents asking questions.

In the Halal grocery, Abdi Rashid says Somalis need to respond to the shooting by confronting police and elected officials.

Other business owners in the shopping center didn't want to be recorded on tape, but many said they were afraid and locked their doors when they saw Jeilani confronting police with a machete. One store owner says Jeilani swung the machete at officers and ignored commands to put his weapons down.

Minneapolis police say the ordeal spanned at least eight blocks and 10 to 15 minutes, in which Jeilani ran from officers until they blocked his path. Within a minute of the first contact, police called in two specially-trained Critical Incident Team officers who deal specifically with people with mental illness. When efforts to disarm Jielani peacefully failed, six officers fired simultaneously, killing him.

Theresa Carufel is with the Friends of Barbara Schneider Foundation, a group formed one-and-a-half years ago, following another fatal police shooting. Police responding to a loud noise complaint ended up killing Schneider as she came at them with a knife. Carufel praises the efforts of police to develop training for officers then. She says each interaction between police and mentally ill person is the end result of a failing system.

"I just know that mental illness is a barrier in and of itself, and for the police officer to be responding to something that the mental health profession should be responding to - I just think they need more of a back-up," says Carufel.

The foundation issued a list of demands following the Schneider shooting that include a review of crisis events, better training for police and others, and funding for patient services.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak vows to make long-term structural changes, such as making the police force more ethnically diverse and analyzing relations between police and residents. He also has a personal tie to the place of the shooting - his family owned a store at that intersection.

Notice not one word about Islam or the Koran or the Jihad war declared by OBL in 1996. Just the usual self-loathing pablum about what can we do to repair the behavior of police being attacked by a machete-wielding but apparently mentally ill Moslem.

If anyone said "the devil made me do it", we would have nodded and charged him with murder.

Will "Allah made me do it" become a reason for compassion?

"The five minutes of chaos ended when a group captured the man and held him down until police arrived."

It's hard to believe that an American who took the same course of action ANYWHERE in the Muslim world would have been "held down until the police came". He would have been pulled apart by a mob of angry heathens right there in the street for daring to kill anyone of the Muslim faith, mental problems or not.

But of course even making such a comparison is cultural insensitivity. It's time to can the sensitivity training and learn how to deal with killers. Let Allah show them mercy. It's what they want, isn't it? If this guy had been shot by someone in the crowd (A vigilante? Perish the thought!) he would be hailed as a martyr. Let's give them their martyrdom. At least then they can't kill anyone else and they can no longer procreate.

"Carufel praises the efforts of police to develop training for officers then. She says each interaction between police and mentally ill person is the end result of a failing system."

In one sense, this woman is right. We used to lock up the mentally ill in state hospitals. Anyone who cannot accept responsibility for his own actions should not be allowed on the street. If this Somali (and the killer in the article above) had mental problems, where was his family? They are the ones to blame. They allowed these people to roam the street and put others in danger. The police have to protect the larger community. They gave this man a chance to surrender. He couldn't do it. What do these people want? Should the police be armed with tranquilizer darts, like those used to sedate and capture animals? What message does that send?

Am I missing something here? What is the name of the "suspect"? He's been arrested and his father interviewed - but still no name mentioned. Maybe I need another cup of coffee to wake up, but I just don't see it. I'll bet you a nickle it's not John Smith.

Anyone who cannot accept responsibility for his own actions should not be allowed on the street.

By this standard, then, all Moslems should be incarcerated immediately, if not deported.

Let's start rounding them up in the 5th Congressional District of Minnesota, where yesterday's crime took place.

If you throw in their infidel lapdogs that'll be nice-I'll have a good selection of houses to move into since I'm getting tired of my current one in Ellisonville.

His Father said he had a mental problem. This is becoming the standard answer for all the jihad in the US. Just claim crazy status and we'll just go on and let the next jihadist have at us. Seems to be working too.

A local TV news station gave the name Ismail Yassin Mohamed, 22. When I saw it, I first thought no wonder. My second thought was is he here legally?

Would this be "Driving while muslim"?

It seems to be the standard.

Evil is evil. Does the thought make the crime any more heinous, i.e., a hate crime? I would agree that his religion incited him to think it was okay to murder people (particularly non-Muslims). I am saying that he is mentally disturbed on top of the disturbing aspects of his religion.

Please don't make assumptions that I'm defending his actions or his thoughts. Being directed by Allah is just an excuse to abandon one's conscience. From what I've read, the story seems different than the acts of jihad you typically read about.

Son of Sam ( David Berkowicz ?) said that the neighbor's dog told him to kill. I think despite this obvious delusion he was sent to prison rather than a mental facility. I'm not sure... but who cares what delusion it is? The neighbor dog or Allah... doesn't matter. The only difference is that Allah is a shared delusion in the collective psychosis known as Islam.

Does it matter why the sociopath does what he will?

"When asked by investigators why he went on the crime spree, the 22-year-old suspect said, "Allah made me do it"

Sometimes the crazy ones are the most truthful.

"Islam made me do it" would be even more truthful.

All this brings to mind the work of Julian Jaynes, "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind", in which Jaynes argues that consciousness -- the regular and fairly constant communication between the left and right brains -- is a fairly recent development in mankind, only about 3000 yrs old. Before then, minds were bicameral, with the left brain running the body on a day-to-day basis, and the right brain being largely silent, only occasionally breaking thru to the left brain with words of command or advice. Modern schizophrenics and others suffering certain types of brain damage still experience this, and describe it as a "voice in my head". In the earliest literature -- Gilgamesh, the Iliad, the older parts of the Old Testament, et al -- the heroes hear this voice, which they interpreted as the voice of the god. Then, somehow (as I recall, Jaynes isn't entirely clear on this) humans learned to be conscious, i.e. to have the two halves of the brain in regular and continuous communication. The gods stopped talking to most people; even the oracles and sibyls had to be in drug-induced trances to hear the voice of the god. It seems that not all mankind learned this trick; beginning with Mo himself, an awful lot of moslems still seem to be bicameral.
I've said it before: the islamic world looks like an insane asylum run by the inmates.

Like I always say, Islam teaches first degree murder to its "submitters.".

In this article at hand about an occurrence in Minneapolis we see more proof of this. Even if this 22-year old man didn't manage to kill anyone, he clearly tried. And with al-lah and murder of the 'infidels' it's the thought that counts.

How much MORE proof that Islamic doctrine teaches murder in the first degree will Americans need to see?????

..in case you missed it..recently the muslim who attacked the Jewish center in Seattle has been spared possible death penalty..you got it..mental illness..

"SEATTLE
Prosecutors said they would not seek the death penalty against a Pakistani-American man accused of shooting six people, one fatally, at a Jewish charity, because of the suspect's long history of mental illness.

King County Prosecutor Norm Maleng said Wednesday he based his decision on Naveed Haq's mental health records from the past decade, though he called the shooting "one of the most serious crimes that has ever occurred in this city."

Haq is charged with murder in the death of Pamela Waechter, 58, director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle's annual fundraising campaign, and with five counts of attempted murder in the attack at the federation's downtown offices on July 28.

If convicted, Haq would face life in prison without parole. He also faces charges of kidnapping and malicious harassment, the state's hate-crime law.

Haq, 31, a U.S.-born Muslim, is accused of opening fire with two semiautomatic pistols at the Jewish center. He told authorities he was angered by the war in Iraq and U.S. military cooperation with Israel.

According to a statement of probable cause, Haq told an emergency services dispatcher: "These are Jews and I'm tired of getting pushed around and our people getting pushed around by the situation in the Middle East."

D.U.I.I. -- Driving Under the Influence of Islam

Alarmed Pig Farmer quoted a Star Tribune story:

It was at this corner that a confusing confrontation between Abu Kassim Jeilani and police ended with Jeilani dead, and many Somali residents asking questions.

But I bet they're not asking themselves "What will happen if I attack the police with a machete?" Any questions they had about that should have been answered clearly enough.

A_Plague_on_Both_Houses said

Son of Sam ( David Berkowicz ?) said that the neighbor's dog told him to kill. I think despite this obvious delusion he was sent to prison rather than a mental facility.

That's interesting. A mental-illness defense is not based on how bizarre their delusions are, the only question is, can they tell right from wrong? If they follow the teachings of Muhammad, then maybe the blanket mental-illness defense makes sense for Muslims.

If Berkowitz hid from police, or tried to hide the gun, that would be evidence that he knew he was doing something wrong, therefore he was not legally insane.

But if a jihadist stands next to his victim's body proudly proclaiming that he was only following Allah's instructions, then he proves that he doesn't know right from wrong (according to Western values). He doesn't think he did anything wrong, therefore he's innocent by reason of insanity.

So, a jihadist can do anything, including mass murder, and be found innocent, as long as they are faithfully following the teachings of the Qur'an and they don't apologize. Makes perfect sense.

Special Guest, yes, innocent by reason of insanity, but still locked up, in a mental facility instead of a regular prison, and locked up until cured, i.e. most likely life, not for a set term of years. Remember Mcmurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"? He was serving some fairly short term in the state slammer for statutory rape, and thought that getting into a mental facility would be getting into a soft berth. Soft, yes, but also indeterminate.

But I bet they're not asking themselves "What will happen if I attack the police with a machete?" Any questions they had about that should have been answered clearly enough.

special_guest, we're like trained dogs up here. A member of a protected class raises his hand as if to strike us and yells out the command, "Bark! Bark like a dog, damn you!" and it's all woof-woof-woof from there.

And the Moslems are at the front of the line among the Minnesota's many treasured protected classes.

The immediate reaction after the machete attack was to put the Police Chief under the spotlight glare, the assumption being that shooting a would-be cop killer in the act was somehow wrong.

I was always under the impression, and by code of law, that we are responsible for our behavior ? It doesn't matter if you're an alcoholic or a mental case, you're still responsible for your behavior. So, just "BANG!"

The reason for the rampage is buried in the sixth paragraph: "Allah made me do it". Funny that the paper did not include it in the headline :) :)

And I assume that most people can count 2+2: with a name like Schupmann and the fact that he owns a clothing store, the chances are very very strong that the first victim, a 79 year old man, is jewish.

But of course, the rampage is not motivated by religion, ideology or hate.

No, the guy is just mentally disturbed, according to the testimony of his father. Apparently, Allah instructed the father to enlighten us all. Thank God, now we all understand what really happened here.

It will be interesting to know the name of this mentally disturbed man.

Well..at least he is telling the truth..Allah probably did make him do it....

Allah is an evil entity.....

Muslims believe in Allah...

Stupid people...
