Spain: A dozen jihadists "infiltrated army base"

Another indication of the fact that there is no firewall within Muslim communities between jihadists and peaceful Muslims. Jihadists have never been expelled from Islamic communities, but rather move freely within them. And so things like this will always happen. "Dozen Islamic militants 'infiltrated army base,'" from Expatica, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

MADRID — A dozen radical Islamists have infiltrated the Spanish army garrison in Madrid's North African enclave of Ceuta, a magazine claimed on Tuesday.

Interviu magazine, citing what it describes as reports from a now-defunct spy unit, said Spanish military intelligence discovered the infiltration.

The unit had been conducting a special review for several years of the army units in Ceuta and Melilla, cities that have large Muslim populations.

The report came as 29 men - including 15 Moroccans - are on trial in Madrid for the 11 March, 2004 train bombings that left 191 dead and more than 1,800 others wounded in the Spanish capital.

The massacre was blamed on Muslim radicals angry with Spain's then-conservative government for backing the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

Interviu denounced the "fundamentalist infiltration" found by military intelligence in one Ceuta-based unit that has a "long tradition of native troops and today has a large number of soldiers of the Muslim faith".

In the case of Ceuta, nearly 40 percent of the troops stationed there are Muslims.

...one of the difficulties in fighting terrorists abroad is that the populace identifies more with the terrorists than any "peace effort" attempted....

...ban Muslim immigration now...

Sounds like Ceuta is already a part of the ummah.

This can only get worse. Throughout Europe, the threats to police garrisons, to army bases, to American installations, to arms depots, to every kind of weapons facility, the threat of Muslim infiltration, diversion of weapons, sabotage -- can only get worse.

How much longer do the Defense Secretaries of the NATO nations, or whatever should replace NATO (without Turkey) continue to ignore this problem? How much longer will this not be talked about because it is, for many, too horrific a problem to discuss, too upsetting, too dangerous?

Twenty years from now, when it will be too late?

Ten years from now, when it will be much worse?

Five years from now?

When?

the appropriate time was ten years ago Hugh.

Spain is lost, it's leadership is about the worse in Europe. Spain will be the next domino to fall and maybe, just maybe the rest of the EU will wake up but i'm not holding my breath.

Muslim troops from Morocco served as the shock troops on Franco's side in the Spanish Civil War. In the midst of a brutal civil war they stood out for their brutality.

..INfiltrated?.... heck, the Spanish Muslim soldiers probably just unlocked the gate and looked the other way....

Malta, you're right. In Italy too, in Alberto Moravia's story Two Women, made into a movie with Sophia Loren, the heroine and her daughter are raped by a contingent of Moroccan troops sent to Italy. In regard to the Spanish civil war that you were talking about, the Republican side had a song: Lucharon contra los moros, Rumbala.... Ay Manuela...

Anyone who can read Spanish should look up the reports on the trial of those connected to the 3/11 train bombing in Madrid. El Pais and ABC reported on the responses of the main defendant, known as The Egyptian [El Egipcio] in the courtroom. About two weeks ago, these 2 papers reported on The Egyptian's expertly performed taqiyya. He told the court that he had nothing at all to do with the Madrid bombings [although Italian police had intercepted at least one phone conversation in which he boasted of being the brains behind the atrocity]. He also stated that he absolutely condemned such terrorist attacks, not only the Madrid attack but the 9/11 attack in New York, Bali, etc. He did NOT condemn attacks on Israel.

by the way, Alberto Moravia's story, Two Women, was fiction. But before anybody dismisses his account of the mass rape as a misrepresentation of the character of the Moroccan troops in Italy, bear in mind that Moravia was a Communist. So what he wrote should not be described as "right wing" propaganda.
