I have always searched in vain for some 'rationale' for this separatist movement. Some endless list of complaints about opression by the Buddhist majority or some such. There is only one rationale: Islam Must Rule.

There is no difference between bin Laden and Hillary Clinton in results. He wills to impose his theology and gain control over all the wealth (he talks of oil often) and Hillary wills to impose her theology and gain permanent power by implementing healthcare for all. Taking the analogy of leftists/islamists one step further, you can also chew on the following question:

Instead of trying to change our system, why don't they just go somewhere else that already practices their worldview? Conservatives have no where else to go, now that Hong Kong is part of China. Leftist American's can move numerous places and things be the way they want.

People like Hillary/Kerry would much more at home in France, Sweden, Italy, than they are in the U.S. They spend all of their time trying to make us more like those countries? Why not just move? Similarly, all of these Shariah loving immigrants leave Pakistan and come here?

A couple of thoughts as to why they try to change the US rather than go someplace that already adopts their worldview:

(1) They know life is better here, but don't make the connection that life is better here because of our system. Thus, ironically, they try to transform the U.S. into place that future generations wouldn't want to immigrate to/stay in.

(2) They want the "glory" of reducing the U.S.---they want to bring the U.S. down a notch or two.

I used to think it was (1), at least with regards to U.S. politicians. I am now starting to suspect it is (2)--which fits with your anarchy analysis.

Good point, Dennis...Islam is a tribal mentality. However, when people act tribal with them, they whine "you killed innocents"...but 9/11 was ok from their tribal perspective.

I think what we are really witness is the final class between tribalism and agrarian society. Tribalism being what I control I own and I can plunder anything that is not in my tribe and make it mine. Agrarian being property ownership...by economic transaction rather than raiding and plundering.

I don't like the word insurgents at all. There is a recognition that they are defending something that is already theirs. I think a word that is associated with overthrowing governments and plundering would be better. Maybe Muslim seditionists and thieves would be better.

Or better yet Muslim imperialists.

But it needn't be as barbaric as beheading but the local branch of the 'ummah' must be responsible for its terrorists - they are PART of the Islamic body-politic and live in it 'as a fish in water' to borrow from Mao. Isolation. Segregation, intense scrutiny, financial penalization. Guilt by association and so forth. They are answerable for what is done 'in their name' if they do not vigorously try to stop it.
