We wouldn't want to hurt their fragile sensitivies, now would we? Gitmo Torture Palace Update: by Michael Melia for Associated Press, with thanks to LGF:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - A news report about Saddam Hussein's execution was removed from a recreation area at the Guantanamo Bay detention center after a detainee's lawyer accused officials of using it to frighten prisoners, a U.S. military spokesman said Thursday.Authorities also removed an Arabic-language poster that depicted Saddam's capture, court appearances and death sentence, said Navy Cmdr. Robert Durand, a Guantanamo Bay spokesman.
The military decided the poster "appeared insensitive" and did not belong in the recreation area, where authorities post information about current events for detainees.
Muslims hate the truth.. they deny it all the time....
Poor babies-let's not hurt their feelings.
They should have written above the photo "Don't let this happen to you-oops! Too late".
Call me insensitive.

Remember, Gitmo is a place for sensitive people to contemplate God. Its a monastery for jihadis.
They should put up the Jane Fonda AA gun photo next to the Jill Carroll Captive photo.
Hanoi Jane Fonda AA gun v. Jill Carroll Captive Photo
They can see how Islam has advanced the cause of women from the Jane Fonda NVA AA gun photo to Jill Carroll where she wears appropriate Islamic clothing.
Now they can put up pictures of Pelosi, Hillary, and Kennedy...oh yea, and Jacques Chirac...

Ellis says he's converted to Islam and wants name change
By Matt Barnwell
TELEGRAPH STAFF WRITER
Macon, Georgia Mayor Jack Ellis has converted to Islam and is working to legally change his name to Hakim Mansour Ellis.
The mayor, raised as a Christian, said Thursday that he has been studying the Koran for years and made the religious switch at a December ceremony in the country of Senegal on the western African coast. Ellis is now a Sunni Muslim, having chosen a religion he said was originally practiced by his west African ancestors before they were brought to America by slave traders.
Ellis said his decision was a personal one, though he understands his elected position breeds public interest in his choice. It was not something he decided overnight to do, he said.
"Why does one become a Christian? ... You do it because it feels right. It's the right thing for you to do. ... To me it's no big deal. But people like to know what you believe in. And this is what I believe in."

Too bad his ancestors can't tell us the real story-I'm sure they got their Islam in a somewhat different manner.
I also like the way whitey gets blamed in this sentence too-all those Africans were living in Islamic paradise before whitey showed up, ruined the place, made them slaves and forced an infidel religion on them. This BS comes right out of the nutty Nation of Islam playbook even if this fool isn't a member of that sect.
Islam-the philosophy of lies for misguided fools.

-- from the article above
The Arab slave trade, trafficking in black Africans, began centuries earlier, and ended a century later (and only in places where the Western powers managed to stamp it out -- for to this day the Arab use of black African slaves continues in Mali, in Sudan, and, unofficial but still clear, in other Arab-dominated countries as well -- in fact, in Saudi Arabia there is evidence that slavery is still a fact of domestic life, even if hidden from the view of Westerners, and it has been endorsed as a permanent feature of Muslim life by Saudi religious leaders).
Ellis is ignorant, apparently, of this Arab slave trade, which claimed many more victims than did the Atlantic slave trade condcuted by Europeans. Furthermore, the Arab slavers were most interested in young boys, to be used in harems, and castrated them on the spot, then brought them to the coasts for transport to the slave-markets of Islam: Jiddah, Muscat, Cairo, Baghdad, Damascus, Algiers, even as far north as Constantinople and Smyrna. The mortality rate was, according to Jan C. Hogedoorn ("The Hideous Trade") about 90%. That is, only one out of ten young black males seized, and castrated, made it alive to the Muslim slave-markets. The numbers of black Africans who died, therefore, must have been in the tens of millions.
And the Arab slavers went deep, deep into the middle of Africa, unlike the Europeans who stayed on the coast (they would have died inland) and simply bought, from local tribes, those whom those tribes had seized in war and enslaved, or seized in order to sell them to those slavers.
The European slave trade and the Arab slave trade in black Africans were both morally intolerable. But the European slave trade was stamped out by Europoeans themselves, as was slavery. The Arab slave trade was never stamped out by the Arabs themselves, for slavery is legitimized by the practice of Muhammad and His Companions and hence forever to be permitted in Islam, as a matter of doctrine. The Arab slave trade was in fact stamped out by the British in the Persian Gulf (see J. B. Kelly, "Britain and the Persian Gulf, 1797-1880") and in North Africa by the French. But it has not disappeared in some places, and has reappared, where it can, in others. Slavery was ended in the Sudan when the British were there; it is back, back obviously and openly, in the Sudan now that the British are long gone and the Muslim Arabs are in control.
That should tell Mr. Ellis something. But it won't. He doesn't know it. And he doesn't want to here about it. For it offends him. He is Podsnap.
Whole lot of Podsnappery going around. Going around about Islam. Going around about global warming. Going round about Iraq, and what should be done ("O what, what can be done? what at this point can we do"? and then you tell them, and they stop up their ears).
Civilizational suicide through Podsnappery.
If your ancestors were slave in America and you are now free. that is good.
If your ancestors were Muslim (original or converted) you are still Muslim and mentally deranged...
Islam is not the answer...fool...
Muslims harbor ages old racism...apparently you do too..Mr Ellis..

Human Rights Watch Prison Rape Report
Glad they took it down. There are reports that David Hicks has been personally taunted by such images. Nazis used to show pictures to prisoners of war in a similar manner. It was considered a war crime then, it should be now.
What this excerpt glosses over was that images of Saddam's body were on display. The purpose of displaying such pictures is to demoralise people.
USA should be ashamed about this and much of its conduct regarding Guantanamo.
And before you get your pants in a twist about that, remember this is the view of one of USA allies.
Think about it.
You're an idiot, Mother..
