N.Y. grocers accused of sending money to Hizballah

Your milk and bread money going to Hizballah. "N.Y. grocers accused of sending money to Hezbollah," by Michael Zeigler for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle via Newsday, with thanks to Sr. Soph:

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Three Yemeni men who run Rochester groceries are accused of illegally sending money overseas in the belief it would benefit the terrorist organization Hezbollah.

Yehia Ali Ahmed Alomari, 26; Mohamed Al Huraibi, 49; and Saleh Mohamed Taher Saeed, 27, were scheduled to appear for a detention hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson.

But the hearing was postponed for one week for Huraibi and two weeks for Alomari and Saeed to allow their lawyers to investigate whether the defendants' families can present property to secure their release from custody.

Federal agents who conducted a sting operation charged Alomari, Huraibi and Saeed with conspiring to launder money and laundering monetary instruments for allegedly transferring $200,000 outside the United States after being told the money had been generated by illegal activities and was intended for Hezbollah.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bret A. Puscheck said none of the money actually made it to Hezbollah, a radical Islamic group the U.S. Department of State designated as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997.

The transferred money was deposited in overseas accounts controlled by the federal government.

Saeed's lawyer, James J. Rizzo, said his client provides a valuable service to Yemeni immigrants by sending money they earn in the U.S. to relatives still in Yemen.

"My client thinks it's a misunderstanding, that he did somebody a favor and that no good deed is going unpunished."

Ain't it always the way.

the tip of the iceberg here. If they say 10% of Islam is fundamentalist radical...would that roughly translate to 10% of Muslim owned businesses are sympathetic to Hamas, Hizbullah, Al-Qaeda etc...? Probably a whole lot more to uncover here.

'Unsealed court documents said the investigation was triggered when investigators learned Saeed's Social Security number was used in 324 currency transfers totaling $12.3 million from October 2002 through November 2004 and Alomari's Social Security number was used to transfer $2.6 million during the same time period."

...that is a lot of money from 26 and 27 year old grocers.....

"Alomari, Huraibi and Saeed didn't object when the confidential witness and the undercover agent said they wanted to send money overseas to help Hezbollah, Puscheck said."

.....they knew where the money was going.....

...illegally sending money overseas in the belief it would benefit the terrorist organization Hezbollah.

I don't see what the crime is here. As an American taxpayer, I help fund Jihad war terror operations every day, in places like the PA, Egypt, Jordan, and elsewhere.

What's the big deal? Moslem activism is out of the closet now, and we all agree that it's ok. So why bother with these silly prosecutions?

As if he sent food stamps...

You are sadly not wrong but sometimes we can consciously do something about that:

In "The NYT" today Mayor Bloomberg quotes from the Koran concerning the Muslims who died in a house fire in The Bronx. How PC of him! And how SO DUMB.

Many feel "10 less Muhammedan's and their plethora of descendents," Mayor. You could be, secretly of course, one of those "Many."

Boycott moslem business, thats the only way.

I have often advised British non moslems on how to Identify moslem owned businesses.

If you need help to identify them just ask a Hindu/Sikh we can spot the beasties !

I live in Rochester NY so this story is of special interest to me. The overwhelming majority of mini marts and corner grocery stores are owned and operated by immigrants from Arab countries. I know that this is true in many cities, especially in the northeast. A boycott of these stores would be improbable for a number of reasons. These grocery stores are in the usually in the ghetto and always in rural areas where people do not have access to a supermarket. These mini marts are the only options for mothers buying milk and bread, or for the beer and cigarettes that are the real bread winners for these stores. People living in the ghetto also do not tend to have a very keen awareness local or global politics. Most are unlikely to care where their money is going as long as they get what they want. If the majority of the people that are patrons at these stores were aware of the consequences and they did have other options it may not deter them still. Especially if the money is going to Hezbollah, which is percieved more as Israel's nemesis than one of the U.S. The attitude towards Israel in these parts ranges from apathy to hate. The only way I see these operations being thwarted is by continued vigilance from the law enforcement community. I sincerely hope that I am underestimating the effect that awareness will have in undermining the ability of some local grocers to continue to fund terrorism.

Boycotting Mohammedan businesses would mostly serve to protect the conscience of the consumer. It will not do much to affect funds going to our enemies. Upwards of Around 400 publicly traded companies have business ties with four U.S. government-designated state-sponsors of terrorism: Iran, Sudan, Syria and North Korea. Public pension funds in almost every U.S. state are invested in one or more such companies and it has been estimated that about $73 Billion (per year?) is going to fund our own destruction.

If you really want to hit them where it hurts (and where they know to hit us!) fight terrorism by divesting from portfolio companies that do business with these four state-sponsors of terror. For more information, see The Terrorism Investments of the 50 States or visit www.DivestTerror.org

I was just privy to a conference call on the subject hosted by Frank Gaffney and this is great stuff. Pass this info onto anyone you know that has stocks, pension funds, etc. Most would be shocked to know they are supporting our enemies. (Far left liberals excluded of course.)

Potato chips as bombs and now grocers as bag men for terrorist funds.

Apparently Muslims are what they eat.

*I should get quote of the day on that lol
