LONDON (Reuters) - British police arrested three men on Thursday in connection with the July 7, 2005, suicide bomb attacks that killed 52 commuters on London's transport system.The men were arrested by counter-terrorism police "on suspicion of the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism" in the north of England, a police statement said.
Two were arrested at Manchester airport where they were due to fly to Pakistan. The third was arrested in a house in Leeds, the northern city which was home to three of the suicide bombers.
The suspects were taken to a central London police station to be questioned. Searches were underway at five houses in the Leeds area and two premises in east London, the police said.
No one has yet been charged in connection with the attacks, in which all four bombers died.
The head of London's anti-terrorist branch said last year police were chasing several leads in Britain and abroad in an attempt to find anyone involved in the planning of the attacks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no extradition treaty between the UK and Pakistan, despite the fact that lots of Pakistanis are allowed dual nationality, so if they make it back home, there's normally not much we can do about it.

I believe the Paki coach was murdered by a Paki fan, rather than a team member - all of whom must have been shitting bricks that night after going down to Ireland. When I first read about it, it looked too monstrous a co-incidence for him to have just had his complications kick in the very day his team lost, and given that as a Brit, he didn't have to return to Pak if he feared anything, suicide didn't seem likely either. Therefore, I suspected murder the moment I read about it.

I do not believe that any member of the team killed Woolmer. However, I think that hangers-on and fans are a different matter altogether. What really ruined Pakistan, of course, was the discovery, shortly before the championship, that its two top players were doped up to their eyeballs (and by the way, I do not recall any doping scandal in cricket, ever: scandals in cricket usually have to do with ball tampering or aggressive tactics). Their exclusion from the team inevitably drove it down, and so I was not surprised when it performed poorly. But to some half-grown idiot to whom Pakistanis can do no wrong, the one non-Muslim in the whole group would be a natural target. Bob Woolmer was possibly the finest and certainly one of the most loved and respected managers in the game, and I do actually believe that his team mourned him; he was one of those people who managed without effort to assert themselves as both authority and father figure. The poor results of the current Pakistani team were none of his doings, just the fault of the dishonesty of some players and of the national authority who indubitably covered up for them (medical tests from Pakistani labs always turned up negative, even when tests from elsewere dripped with steroids).
