Alarm in Spain over al-Qaeda call for its “reconquest”

We have warned about this for years, but what do we know?

An update on this story: “NEWS FEATURE: Alarm in Spain over al-Qaeda call for its ‘reconquest,'” by Sinikka Tarvainen for DPA:

Madrid (dpa) – The emergence of a new al-Qaeda-linked organization in Northern Africa is alarming Spain, which is concerned about Islamists’ calls for the reconquest of the country they regard as a lost part of the Muslim world.

We will not be in peace until we set our foot again in our beloved al-Andalus,” al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb said on claiming responsibility for an attack which killed at least 24 people in Algiers on Wednesday.

Al-Andalus is the Moorish name for Spain, parts of which were ruled by Muslims for about eight centuries until the last Moorish bastion, Granada, succumbed to the Christian Reconquest in 1492.

The terrorists will undoubtedly attempt to extend their offensive from Northern Africa to European soil, anti-terrorism judge Baltasar Garzon warned, cautioning that Spain was at a “very high risk” of suffering an Islamist attack.

The reference to al-Andalus was not the first by al-Qaeda, which has also vowed to put an end to the Spanish “occupation” of the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla on the Moroccan coast….

The Algerian-based al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, formerly known as the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), intends to federate North African Islamist cells under a common umbrella.

Some of the people who could attack Spain may already be in the country, where nearly 80 per cent of prison inmates jailed on charges related to international terrorism have come from Northern Africa over the past five years.

Islamist radicals proselytize at an estimated 10 per cent of Spain’s hundreds of unofficial mosques, which operate in garages, basements and the like.

Spain has become an important base for the recruitment of suicide bombers who are sent to Iraq, according to press reports. Some of the fighters are believed to be trained in new al-Qaeda camps in Sahel countries such as Mali, Niger or Mauritania.

Poor, chinless, clueless Zapatero, what must he be thinking now? All the dhimmi posturing, the keffiyeh wearing, the urgency with which he carried out his masters’ wishes in withdrawing from Iraq, all for what? Still they hate you, still they want ‘their’ country back. Whence now, Zapatero?

  2. says

Oh, tsk tsk the Spaniards had to take their heads out of the warm and comfy confines of their butts. It must have hurt!

Now, I wonder how long it will be before they get reinserted. I really don’t expect much to come of this. There might be a small group who does something, or tries to do something – but it will be slow. I see this phenomenon all over the place – here in the USA too. It is like an uphill battle in the USA too. With all the disinformation that is dispersed – it is no wonder.

  3. says

Awesome. Out of the over 200 claims for the Algiers attack (please read some Arabic language newspapers…oh right, you can’t…the BBC story says al-Jazeera says Al-Qaeda claimed it, but the analyst on al-Jazeera afterwards said otherwise–that there was absolutely no evidence at this point) Spencer is still harping on the al-Qaeda thing…(Even if it was this al-Qaeda group, this is an old domestic organization that changed its name [probably for publicity reasons], and to this day there is no conclusive evidence–other than Western radical barkings–that proves this group to have any direct or indirect link to Bin Laden’s orgznization). Now, there is an unsubstansiated link on a website claiming to be from an Islamist group that suggests that Spain should be reconquested. From a historical view that might not be too bad (anti-Catholics, Jews, the roots of Protestantism, and many others fled from European persecution to Andalusia–and then deeper into Muslim territory when the Inquisition was put into place–why didn’t they go back to the “free” West?)—again all assuming that this website is actually even remotely true. Tomorrow, I might put up a website saying (By putting the word al-Qaeda in the title, because people will then pay attention to me) that I have the ultimate desire to reconquer New Mexico in the name of the Mexican government, you never know…

    Just doing some thinking…

….yep, appeasing the terrorists by withdrawing your troops in Iraq after just one attack sure works wonders!…does it not……

  5. says

please read some Arabic language newspapers…oh right, you can’t

Because arabic is such a divine language that it can’t be properly translated? Because only arabic language newspapers could possibly have any insight into events in North Africa?

Emily Hunt author of “Islamist Terrorism in Northwestern Africa” and a senior fellow at the U.S.-based International Assessment and Strategy Centre, spoke on the CBC’s “As It Happens: radio show. She spoke convingly of al Qaeda’s inroads into Algeria and their involvement in the bombings that -bewilderingly- al Jazeera can’t seem to get its act together to either confirm or authoritatively refute. (I wonder why not. I’m just thinkin’ is all). She also spoke chillingly of how the terrorists responsible for the crimes are being funded from Europe, through credit card and identity theft and other frauds perpetrated by North Africans in Europe.

Of course, the inversion of morality that Islam appears to offer protects the perpetrators of such crimes from any type of self-censure. Crime is not crime when performed for a greater good, for the extension of Islam throughout the world, by hook or by crook as it were. And one can only expect to see such “flexible” thinking extended to claim rights for the reoccupation of entire countries. No surprises here, not when the record is looked at objectively.

This problem is goes right down to the psychological development of individuals who are raised in a belief system for which personal responsibility is not at all a priority. Individuals raised in this manner cannot be expected to easily accept let alone behave with the same notions of conscience that others in Western society may have. Put this together with current Western social norms in which children are -incredibly- raised to question the worthiness of their own historical roots, all evidence to the contrary, then you have what I’d say were conditions for a perfect storm: a demented feeling of entitlement on the one hand and a suicidal, unjustifiable feeling of guilt on the other.

Spain in particular and Europe in gnereal needs to remember that it reached its heights of culture despite Islamic depredations, not because of them. Islam as a way of life has nothing to offer Spain, Europe or any Western country. It is not bigoted to say this, unless the balance of evidence itself can be said to be bigoted.

‘An American’ asks, “why didn’t they go back to the “free” West?” You claim to be ‘Just doing some thinking.’ You might want to think about the fact that the west has changed a bit in the past 500+ years. I know this idea might be a little difficult for you to get your backward thinking religionist mind around, but we’ve come along way baby. I always find it humorous when muslims try to justify their barbaric atrocities in the 21st century by comparing them to acts that occurred in ‘western’ societies centuries ago, as if our society is somehow static. The word crusade is a staple of the muslim vocabulary. The difference in mindset is quite striking. While muslims are busy living in the past, we are looking to the future.

On a summer day in the month of May a burly bum came hiking
Down a shady lane through the sugar cane, he was looking for his liking.
As he roamed along he sang a song of the land of milk and honey
Where a bum can stay for many a day, and he won’t need any money

Oh the buzzin’ of the bees in the cigarette trees near the soda water fountain,
At the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings on the Big Rock Candy Mountains

There’s a lake of gin we can both jump in, and the handouts grow on bushes
In the new-mown hay we can sleep all day, and the bars all have free lunches
Where the mail train stops and there ain’t no cops, and the folks are tender-hearted
Where you never change your socks and you never throw rocks,
And your hair is never parted

Oh the buzzin’ of the bees in the cigarette trees near the soda water fountain,
At the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings on the Big Rock Candy Mountains

Oh, a farmer and his son, they were on the run, to the hay field they were bounding
Said the bum to the son, “Why don’t you come to the big rock candy mountains?”
So the very next day they hiked away, the mileposts they were counting
But they never arrived at the lemonade tide, on the Big Rock Candy Mountains

Oh the buzzin’ of the bees in the cigarette trees near the soda water fountain,
At the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings on the Big Rock Candy Mountains

One evening as the sun went down and the jungle fires were burning,
Down the track came a hobo hiking, and he said “Boys, I’m not turning.”
“I’m heading for a land that’s far away beside the crystal fountains;”
“So come with me, we’ll go and see the Big Rock Candy Mountains.”

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains, there’s a land that’s fair and bright,
The handouts grow on bushes and you sleep out every night
Where the boxcars all are empty and the sun shines every day
On the birds and the bees and the cigarete trees,
The lemonade springs where the bluebird sings
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains, all the cops have wooden legs
And the bulldogs all have rubber teeth and the hens lay soft-boiled eggs
The farmer’s trees are full of fruit and the barns are full of hay
Oh I’m bound to go where there ain’t no snow
Where the rain don’t fall, the wind don’t blow
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains, you never change your socks
And little streams of alcohol come a-trickling down the rocks
The brakemen have to tip their hats and the railroad bulls are blind
There’s a lake of stew and of whiskey too
And you can paddle all around ’em in a big canoe
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains the jails are made of tin,
And you can walk right out again as soon as you are in
There ain’t no short-handled shovels, no axes, saws or picks,
I’m a-goin’ to stay where you sleep all day
Where they hung the jerk that invented work
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

I’ll see you all this comin’ fall in the Big Rock Candy Mountains!

‘You might want to think about the fact that the west has changed a bit in the past 500+ years”

….tHIS IS TRUE!!!!….Islam has not changed at all in 1400 years…it is still in the 7th century….

  11. says

Another point that ‘An American’ seems to either miss or else willfully ignore is the fact that Mr. Spencer in fact does not harp on Al-Qaeda links, and actually deemphasizes the importance of whether or not a group is directly linked to Al-Qaeda or not.
Mr. Spencer has been very critical of the emphasis in the media and by world leaders placed on Al Qaeda. Spencer has pointed out on numerous occasions that Al-Qaeda is just one of many jihad groups with the same goal of Islamic imperialism and expansion, and that if Al Qaeda disappeared tomorrow, the global jihad would continue right on without them. Even without terrorism or violent action of any kind, islamic groups who hold the belief in islamic supremacy would carry out other types of jihad toward the same ends.

  12. says

Despite the best efforts of the craven West appeasers, the nation of Islam will have its world war. I’m convinced now that nothing will stop this attempt to expand dar al-Islam except force.

Despite the best efforts of persons on this site and others fighting to get the word out to disinterested Westerners, this jihad will continue and will inflict heavy damage on nations in Western Civ., African civ and Buddhist civ… until those areas take up organized, armed force against the jihad.

The Muslim jihadis will not accept it any other way. Many people will have to die on both sides, but I pity the poor bastards in the Islamic world who don’t really want the fight, but have no way to stop it. They’re going to get what’s coming too. I don’t see any way around it.

It’s all or nothing for the Islamic world and they know it. They have to strike hard while the demographics and the oil resources are still in their favor. They have about 20 – 40 years and won’t stop trying until they simply don’t have the means to launch attacks.

A pit bull is a fighting dog and has been bred to hold its bite until death if necessary. You can’t distract a pit bull with food or anything else once it locks on to something. You have to damage it to the point where it can no longer bite or you have to kill it.

We do have a way to end all of this. We must think like ancient Romans – not medieval crusaders.

The ancient Romans would have marched to the heart of the troubles and would have utterly laid waste to the source of the trouble. Look at the example in the Punic wars and what the Romans did to Carthage. We must do the same to the heart of the trouble. The center of it all is Mecca and Medinah. They must be occupied and leveled.

  13. says

I’m going to explain something that An (Un?)American wrote. Why didn’t they return to the free west? Some of them did. Several years ago there was a series of articles in New Mexico’s newspapers about hispanic (Spanish descent) people who believed that their ancestors were Jewish. They converted to Catholicism either before or after emigrating to the Western US. I have long forgotten some of the details, but the theme of the article was that their ancestors were most likely Jews from Spain.

The muslims could reconquer spain through immigration alone. Terrorist attacks only wake people up to the threat, and are conterproductive.

I’d bet my life the actually percentage is closer to 50%.

  20. says

“We will not be in peace until we set our foot again in our beloved al-Andalus”

    How about this?

Christians will not be in peace until we set our foot again in our beloved Constantinople, once the center of a Christian domain before it was taken over by Muslims. We look forward to the celebration of the sacrifice of the Mass at Hagia Sophia in the new Constantinople. We look forward to regaining control of Damascus, the destination of Saint Paul when he had his revelation from God.

Just imagine a Muslim reaction to such an attempt to undo history. The same people who rail at the Crusades want to conduct one of their own. They fail to realize that their religion is based on one long crusade. They are the original crusaders.

I don’t understand why ANY Western nations are still allowing Muslims to continue to emigrate. Ditto Australia. Come on, people, you KNOW this need to stop! Do Something BIG, Spain!

“We will not be in peace until we set our foot again in our beloved al-Andalus”

    How about this?

People who choose to believe in a god or no god at all won’t be at peace until the plague carriers in Mecca and Medinah have been disinfected and wiped from the face of this Earth.

Taking and retaking Real Estate is not the answer.

The utter decimation of the Ka’ba and the earthly legacy of the two holy mosques IS the answer. What will it take for us to get there? This will never end until we actually destroy the idol temple dedicated to al-Lah and destroy the legacy of Mohammed in Medinah.

  23. says

Crusaders are not the proper model for us. Taking and retaking areas in the middle east are not the permanent solution. The crusaders didn’t establish the Christian kingdom in the correct spot.

    Not Jerusalem – Mecca
Not Malta / Damascus / Constantinople – Medinah.

  24. says

I agree with Allahfanculo above that Jews should be restored Medina (renamed Yathrib) and Mecca. Also, the ancient Pagan faiths should be explored and resurrected – it’ll still be an improvement on Islam. Failing that, Judaism should be the established religion of the Arabian peninsula.

As to ‘An American’s’ musings above, a number of the refugees from Andalus did flee to other parts of Europe such as Holland and Greece (and in the latter case, Islam caught up with them). And those who fled to the Mahgreb fled back to Catholic Spain and converted to Catholicism. Of course, it would have been nice had they been allowed to remain Jews, but it’s better that they converted to Catholicism rather than to Islam. And no – the inquisition wasn’t worse than the system of dhimmitude that existed throughout the Islamic world, including that fabled tolerant Ottoman empire.

Back to the above story – given that Spain has happily been grovelling before Islam ever since Zapatero came to power, why are they alarmed by this? How would a reconquest of Spain by those nostalgic about Andalusia be different from the Islamic supremacy in Spain now?

  25. says

There is no lesson which teaches so well as having Muslims murder one in your own home. Perhaps then the Spanish will learn their expensive mistake numbers of Spaniards learned the hard way.

The personal stories of Spaniards butchered, enslaved and pillaged from those goode olde days are heart rending, but and BUT these Muslims were no more interested in Islam than they were in any thing redeeming.

All the accounts speak of profit just like bin Laden’s musings all related back to OIL MONEY and resources. That is what drives these people who hide in Islam and use it as a doctrine to rapine.

The Europeans have not had to deal with a real problem since the last one they manufactured in Hitler and Stalin. Islam is a great teacher for the Spanish and they will learn the hard lesson like their dead relatives learned.

  26. says

Alarm in Spain over al-Qaeda call for its “reconquest”

All of history is the pattern of some group (race, religion, ideology, etc.) conquering, subduing, exploiting and even exterminating some lately “indigenous people”. The Arabs have been the most successful group in using Islam for that purpose. It is just another rationalization system that makes holy and good exploitation.

The Nazis attempted to do this to the Slavs of Eastern Europe in World War II. They intended to displace the Slavs via starvation. When Hitler attacked Russia on June 22, 1941, within weeks Stalin knew that the Germans had launched a war of extermination. Whole Russian divisions were surrounded and the Germans took no prisoners or marched the Russian soldiers into slavery-jizya. But gradually the Russians got their footing and regained their balance and in late 1941 the Russians launched a series of counter attacks that stalled the Germans before Moscow. It was the first of many defeats for the Germans and ended with the Russians overrunning Germany.

There will come a similar turning point in this war launched by Islam against the Kuffirs. Neither Israel nor the US is going to suffer the fate of Darfur and extermination by Islam, any more than the Russians allowed the Germans to exterminate them. Islam is just another rationalization-religion-ideology that makes good supremacist delusions, deception, exploitation, and extermination. It is very similar to Nazism.

  28. says

GuitarBob, regarding “why can’t they just wait?”

It might be that they can’t wait. Groups like al-Queda and others need funding in order to function. Currently, much of their funding comes from groups like the Golden Chain and from wealthy Middle-Eastern individuals. At the root, the money and influence comes from oil revenue, which will not last forever.

Additionally there’s a feature of Islamic culture that tends to reduce per-capita wealth in wealthy families. Wealthy men have several wives, and many children, each of which inherits a share of the man’s fortune when he dies. The share is prescribed in the Qur’an. When a rich man’s assets are divided among four wives and twenty kids, the inheritors are well off, but much less likely to be well off enough to finance a good lifestyle PLUS finance Jihad.

The late former king of Saudi Arabia, Ibn Saud, fathered between 50 and 1000 kids. The current king Abdullah has 22 acknowledged offspring. All those offspring are going to want their fair share of their inheritance

  29. says

    witness-

I have come to the conclusion that these guys have launched a war of extermination against Israel and other indigenous cultures and peoples. All of Islam is collectively responsible, just as the Germans were all responsible for the Nazi minority among them. (BTW, Zionism is a defensive ideology, whereas Nazism and Islam (e.g.)are offensive.)

There is nothing new about this in the history of our species, but Jihad will ultimately provoke a ruthless response. How that will happen is a door to a room that has yet to be opened. Eventually, these current supremacists are going to feel the kind of ruthless response that brought the Russians to Berlin in 1945.

What rubbish. When the bOmbings happened in Madrid it was AL-queda that carried them out. So, when they released a video giving the reasons for it they whipped out their “islamic grevience laundry list”. Was it Palestine they were upset about? Kashmir? No, in addition to their typical BS they specifically claimed they did it as a signel to start the “Conquest of Andalus”.
1400 years ago the Muslims took Christian land in Spain. PERIOD. END OF STORY. HOw tolerent they were afterwards is irrelevent. Also, this so-called “tolerance” is a myth. All Christians and Jews lived under the pact of UMAR. Something that would make South Africas Apartheid system look like enlightment. In fact if conquering a peoples is OK in order to bring “tolerance and justice” then, my idjiot friend, you have just justified Bush’s war in Iraq!! LOL! but i guess you’re against that war. That makes you a hypocryte.

As to your skewed view of history-
“From a historical view that might not be too bad (anti-Catholics, Jews, the roots of Protestantism, and many others fled from European persecution to Andalusia”
More revisionist garbage. Protestants were’nt even around when the last of the Moors was expelled from Spain. 1492 was when the last muslims were kicked out. Martin luther didnt post his thesis’ until decades later. Also, no christian in his right mind would flee to a land where Christians were persecuted. Again, more revisionist garbage. And anyone who bothered to do the research can see that the jews faired just as badly in Muslim spain as the Christians. They were massacred many times throughout the history of that time. Maimonides had to FLEE Spain from MUSLIM PERSECUTION. AS for where Jews went after the inquisition, while some did go into Muslim lands a lot actually went into other parts of Europe such as Holland. Yes, Christian, Evil, Holland allowed fleeing Jews to come to their country. REad up on real history, not revisionist garbage that is floating around the internet.
Lastly, VIVA MATAMOROS DEL COMPOSTELA!!! VIVA ESPANA! GRANDE!! A leader like Franco will gain power and kick all the Muslims out of Spain (AGAIN!) before one Sharia law is passed in that great Catholic country.

    Memo to Islamic fascists:

In all of history, with its patterns of attack and displacement of “indigenous cultures” and “indigenous peoples”, there is only one group that has successfully resisted total annihilation in its homeland and has in fact retaken their native land (as Jews came to Israel from the Muslim Mideast and from Nazi Europe). That is the Jewish people. One has to admire their extraordinary tenacity. They are now in Israel to stay.

Is this the pre-crusades conquests that these people want? Do they want Europe to flush them out again as I bet the Crusades did after being fed up with sword chopping threats and backwards lifestyles. I hope this Europe and Spain can learn how to be Knights in government but I guess they are too soft and bury their heads in the Arab dessert. They will be so politically correct and show so much understanding about diversity that their so called friends will laugh their way to being handed over the money like some scam. Where is the spirit in Europe? This is what happens when you close the Bible up from knowledge it even warns us and helps prevent these troubles.

One of the reasons why Hamas wants the Israeli flag changed is because the two blue lines represent old Israel up from the river Nile in Egypt to the River Tigris or Euphrates in Iraq.

So does that mean Israel will take over their old lands again as they owned before Islam was invented. Well they will once prophecy and God comes back down but in the mean time they won’t demand all these lands back, if not just what was left empty as marsh lands before 1947. Now it’s different things have been established they have prospered and the Hamas want that now because they did not have to build Israel and like a Church in England that Muslims like to convert they will take the template and add their
    Moon on top.

    Re: Frank’s discussion:

I’ve always hear the term “pecking order’ but in my studies in backyard poultry have found out more about what it really is. If you want to raise your own eggs, the proper number of hens to have is 10-12. The hens establish a pecking order through skirmishes when they first get together. The Number 1 hen never gets pecked, but pecks Number 2. The Number 6 hen pecks the Number 7 hen and gets pecked by the Number 5 hen. Once the order is established, things become orderly with occasional pecks to keep everybody in line. The bottom hen gets pecked to death if there are crowded conditions.

If a new hen is added to the mix, the whole process starts over and the feathers start flying.

The reading I’ve done doesn’t describe what would happen if a Number 6 hen was introduced to an existing group of hens and insisted that it was the Number 1 hen. I imagine that that genetic trait has pretty much been removed by now from the chicken community.

In order to drive out the Muslims, European (and American) elites would have to admit that their concept of diversity was muddle-headed. They would have to admit that not everyone shares the same values they do.
Even if Europeans are not particularly religious most probably still subscribe to the Golden Rule, which is epitomized by Christ’s call to “do unto others as you would have others do unto you” and to “love your neighbor as yourself”.

What — as far as Islam is concerned, we are all guilty of “occupying” a piece of Muslim real estate. Anyone who isn’t Muslim; anyone found to be an infidel, needs to be booted out of the country they’re OCCUPYING according to the Muslim mind set. (excuse me for living)

“At the Jamal Islamiya mosque in this seaside town, a Muslim lament of historic proportions is proclaimed in large letters on a framed poster: “In 1492, we lost everything.”
For the mosque’s leader, and much of the Muslim world, the year marks the traumatic conclusion of Islam’s golden age, a time remembered like a collective wound.

It’s a period when the last piece of Muslim-held territory in Spain fell to Catholic monarchs, ending almost 800 years of Moorish rule on the Iberian peninsula.

Centuries when poetry, science and architecture flourished under Islamic caliphs expired with bonfires of Arabic manuscripts, mass expulsion and extermination in the Inquisition.

To the east, the Muslim empire of the Ottomans would reign for another four centuries. But many would trace its long decline to the fall of Al Andalus, the Moorish name for Andalusia.

The result is a yearning that today makes Spain, more than any other
European country, a battleground in the name of Islam.

“They stole 500 years of history from us,” says Omar Checa Garcia, who heads the Jamal Islamiya mosque and cultural centre. “We want it back, but we don’t want revenge.”

What does it mean to want it back without wanting revenge? Just restore the Islamic state and there will be no reprisals?

Others are not so accommodating. Osama bin Laden uses what he calls the “tragedy of Al Andalus” as a rallying cry for his deadly brand of Islamic jihad against “the crusaders and Jews.”
After the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, bin Laden’s chief lieutenant, Ayman al Zawahiri, drew a parallel between the loss of the Iberian peninsula and the struggle of Palestinians.

“We will not accept that the tragedy of Al Andalus be repeated in Palestine,” he said….

On March 11, 2004, a cell of mainly Moroccan extremists, calling themselves “the brigade situated in Al Andalus,” detonated 10 bombs that killed 191 people on Madrid commuter trains….”

From the JW Archives, a news story from April 2004:

“Muslims divided over request for use of Cathedral

Cordoba (AsiaNews/IslamOnline) – “We don’t need to ask for the Vatican’s intercession (to pray in Cordoba Cathedral) since it is a historical site,” Munir Al-Musiri of The Islamic Cultural Center of Madrid (ICCM) told IslamOnline. “This is nonsense, I myself have prayed there many times.” Some Muslims deny that they have need to seek permission from Rome to worship in the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Cordoba, the city which had been the heart of Moorish Spain in the eighth century, the church which once had been one of Islam’s holiest mosques.

On April 19th the Islamic Council of Spain lodged a formal request with the Vatican to allow Muslims to pray in the former mosque. “The request was very well received,” Mansur Excudero, the Secretary of the Council had stated.

Zakarias Maza, director of the Taqwa mosque in nearby Granada expressed, “We hope the Vatican will give a sign that it has a vision of openness and dialogue… Cordoba has been a symbol of the union of three cultures for centuries. Even now, Jews and Muslims live together with Christians in the neighborhood around the mosque.”

Local politicians also backed the move. Antonio Hurtado, a spokesman for the local Socialist party told El Mundo, “We hope to see Cordoba become a place for the meeting of the faiths.”

Yet Musiri stated he had no idea a national Islamic group besides the ICCM existed in Spain. He believes the request was brought forward by individuals who “were in no position to speak for the entire Muslim community in Spain.” Fearing that this type of individual initiative would spark a certain “Islamophobia” during today’s sensitive times, Musiri cautioned, “It will play well in the hand of some people and western media, which could add fuel to the fire and say Muslims want to re-conquer Al-Andalus (Spain).”

Some of Spain’s Catholic’s have been angered by the proposal that Muslims share their worship space. “Will Christians be able to pray in the mosques of Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iran or Kuwait?” one Catholic demanded on a religious website.

A member of the Islamic Council of Spain, Isabel Romero, stated her perspective of the motion. “In no way is this request about reclaiming our right, far less about any kind of re-conquest,” she told a local newspaper. “Instead, we want to give our support to the universal character of this building.”

The Cathedral stands at the heart of a UNESCO heritage world site.

On March 3rd, however, a different picture was painted, when as Sunday Mass barely concluded, participants of the Third International Congress of Moslem Woman attempted to perform a communal prayer before the mihrab, challenging staff that tried to impede the forbidden act of worship, actions that would most likely bring the death of any Christian attempting the same in a mosque in a Muslim country.

Recently, a prominent Spanish Muslim, Abderrahman Muhammad Manan, wrote that the ancient mosque should be freed and that, “We Moslems cannot stand behind, saying that Islam is not stones or monuments. To do so is to not give account of what things are in their essences, and in its essence Alhama is Islam in our land, as is Al-Andalus, Andalucia; it is the remembrance of a colonization, of a genocide, of an expulsion.” Alhama and Andalucia are areas in Spain with much Islamic history.

Bishop of Cordoba, Msgr. Juan Jose Asenjo, has made no official response to the request but affirmed that the diocese “must be very prudent” in responding to the petition of the Islamic Council.”

Letting the Muslims do anything in Spain re symbols is like letting the Nazis have a Swastika at Stalingrad. The Muslims were invaders and they were expelled. In history, expulsion does not occur unless the invaders fail to successfully exterminate the culture of “indigenous people”. Muslims failed to exterminate Spaish culture. (They succeeded in North Africa.)

Islam is indeed the most successful rationalization system for dominance, exploitation and the destruction of “indigenous cultures” in history. Hitler admired Islam for that reason. Its rationalizations, supported by rituals and Islamic costumes make it “religion”.

Our species is good at justifying such things, but Muslims are really good at it. They are even self-righteous about it. After all, they can quote “God” in the Koran to justify making a “Dhimmi” of “the other”. No other group (Aztec, Spaniard, Hun, Visigoth, Roman, etc.) ever had such a perfect system to justify exploitation, deception, conquest and genocide (as in India). And, at its core, Islam is still Arab Imperialism.

The Spanish, like many people, do not like being lied to by their Government. You should understand that, right? José Marie Aznar tried to blame the 3/3 event on the terrorist group ETA (who want the Basque regions of Spain+France as a separate country)(because he thought that if he told people the truth, that it was Islamic jihadists responsible, that with an election imminent, the people might vote his Government out).

But it became clear that it was Moroccan Jihadists, and the people perceived that José Marie Aznar had tried to buy their vote by being less than truthful, and as a result they voted for the opposition. It was a hot issue in the election with the Spanish brimming in anger for their Government. So not Dhimmitude.

Your comments strike a chord with me, but don’t you think the radical Islamists know they are playing in a whole warehouse of very old, unturned dynamite crates? Yes they are desperate to capitalize on the oil revenue and on demographics as you say. But it seems difficult to say whether they seek glory by ultimate global conquest or in their own final spectacular destruction. Sooner or later we will engage them in a fight(s) that will make Iraq look like a sandbox spat. Maybe it doesn’t matter to them since either outcome is the very embodiment of Islam’s infallible and firm promise to her blind subjects.

The Islamists are clearly very keen on manipulating the political climate of all countries where they are present (last time I checked that was all but about 40 sovereign states). If their own destruction is the final result you can be sure they will leverage all power and influence and hardware at their command to make sure it is a MAD scenario. I would not be surprised if this has been the plan all along.
