THE most senior Muslim cleric in Canberra has praised Islamic jihadists in Iraq and Afghanistan.Mohammed Swaiti yesterday called on God to grant “victory to mujahideen (Muslim holy warriors)” worldwide, The Weekend Australian newspaper reports.
“God grant victory to the mujahideen in his name in all places,” Sheik Swaiti called out twice in Arabic over a microphone at Abu Bakr mosque in Yarralumla in front of about 500 worshippers.
“God grant victory to mujahideen in Palestine, and Chechnya and Kashmir and Afghanistan and Iraq.”
While Sheik Swaiti translated his sermon into English for non-Arabic-speaking members, the imam of Canberra's only mosque omitted the praise for Islamic jihadists in the English version.
Why bother, Swaiti? All us English speakers know that jihad is just an inner spiritual struggle. That's what your coreligionists here in the U.S. tell us all the time. And they warn us that only wicked, wretched, frenziedly racist Islamophobes believe jihad has anything to do with warfare! So we know you meant that you hoped Allah granted victory to all the inner spiritual strugglers in "Palestine," and Chechnya and Kashmir and Afghanistan and Iraq -- right? Right?

Buddy.. he's entitled to point out a problem isn't he? Our laws are designed to hold back individual justice. Those who avenge a crime are usually treated worse than the original perpetrator.
Our Western States have a "monopoly on violence" which is seen as fundamental to the functioning of our democracies.
The jihadists acknowledge no such state and thus don;t play by the same rules.
The State is powerless to oppose them because of the very ideals it is founded on.
And yes, all of us have been glad to relinquish a bit of our repsonsibility of self-defence so we could pursue other goals and things.
Now that we are once again at war.. we find ourselves in a state of varying readiness.

If so, then when a Muslim like Swaiti promotes jihad in Arabic but in English pretends not to have said anything about jihad, you need to ostracize him completely for being a stinking LIAR covertly inciting to murder. Until you do start ostracizing the all-too-many Muslim spokespersons who deceptively say one thing in Arabic and another in English, no one with any sense will or should trust you.
When Islam behaves like a spider stealthily weaving a web to kill or subjugate non-Muslims, many more Muslims need to start a vocal "jihad" against that kind of murdering, lying "Islam," or else face, in time, humanity's (and God's, I expect) utter rejection of any Islam whatever.

I think it is about time we did a study on how many clerics/Imams world wide who have caused trouble, who have taught hate, who have said anything that is not peace, love etc..I think that we would be horrified to see how many there are in the world teaching hate. I must do an online library catalogue search in order to discover whether the Duntroon Library - or the Australian National Library, or the library of the Australian National University, also in Canberra - contain the books of Bat Ye'or, Robert Spencer, Andrew Bostom, and other useful texts such as appear in Robert's bibliographies and have been mentioned here from time to time, most notably, I believe, the Qur'anic Way of War (is that the correct title?) by that Pakistani general....Perhaps if these indispensable books are found NOT to be available to our officers-in-training, Australian jihadwatchers should pass round the hat and make good the deficiency?
