Born and raised in Chicago, this story hits me hard. My parents now tell me that there are security cars and police cars outside their small Temple on Friday. Just routine. The Jewish population of the Chicago area is about 250 thousand or so--down a bit from twenty years ago.
And there are fantastic Churches throughout Chicago. One of my favorite structures is a Church right accross the street from the John Hancock Building with a lovely garden. You can sit there, under the trees and forget you are in an urban center.
The past few trips back home have been eye openers. The region around Northwestern(the downtown medical branch), long a 'high-brow' area where Dr. Loyal Davis(nancy's Father)used to operate, is now loaded with Muslims. I was shocked at their growth. You see them on the streets, driving the taxis, at the airports, with their babys.
I fear for out country. It can come apart from within. Will the center hold? The only saving grace here is the Christian growth is occuring in the South, and accross the Mexican border with their strong Catholic family values. However one feels about immigration. I'd rather take the entire population of Mexico than what has happened to France et al.

As an aside, hundreds of Chicago Jews(maybe a thousand) cancelled their subscriptions to the Tribune some years ago because of blatent anti-Israel pieces. Can I name names here? I won't, but there were a few grade-A, Fisk, dhimmis on the Tribune. Long live the Sun Times.

That's easy. And I agree we have to overcome the common misconception of islam as a religion.
Here's proof that it is a cult.
Of all the Major known religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism and Christianity there is none that punishes apostasy by death.
The basis of all true religions is love and moral conduct. Moral conduct against all members of the Human Race and not just those within th group.
Martin Luther King, for example, quoted the Bible rather effectively to basically prove the Un-Christian behavior of the Segregated South.
Fat chance using the KKKoran to get them to stop slavery in the Sudan. Or in Sowdiarabia.

Turns out the reason the Ethiopian's memory began to fail him was corroborating evidence and testimony by eye witnesses supporting the version of the two Germans.

The judge on this case gave them probation since the victim "was not seriously hurt". All while the guy was still in the hospital recovering from his coma. The judge said the injuries were "not serious and lifethreatening".

But on that note, I would like to echo R_not's post to biorabbi because he/she is pointing to something which cannot be ignored - which is the prominent role of American Jews in enabling the Islamic invasion. biorabbi - I'm surprised you take such offense at my post. I am merely a neutral observer. How do you explain the really gross disproportion of Jewish intellectuals, as indicated by Nobel prizes in science etc, if it doesn't indicate something superior about Jewish IQ? The fact that so may intelligent Jews such as Chomsky exist doesn't negate that fact. Such folks could merely be brilliant sophists.
Maybe you imagine that my post implies that Jews are not "loyal" Americans. That would be a very wrong inference. To me, Jews are indistinguishable from what I think of as America. When it comes to modern liberalism, certainly Catholics have played a major role in that respect (some of the biggest open-borders advocates out there) and my own background is Catholic. In fact, my father was an immigrant Catholic who participated in Vatican II. He died many years ago but all the time I think about what he did and how what he did quite possibly contributed to the modern Catholic liberalism that may have contributed to the current open-borders ethos in America. After all, it is Ted Kennedy, a Catholic, who may be most closely associated with our current, suicidal immigration policy.

Look at Vatican II. Look at the tremendous diversity within Christianity. I couldn't even list all the streams. There is a Japanese strain of Catholicism that intrigued me greatly. The Japanese expelled the priests but could not snuff it out. Why is that? The answer lays in the inertia and diversity and capacity for change. There is no such diversity or questioning within Islam. This is both a strength and a weakness, robotic as only a closed system can be. There is a great Frank Lloyd Right Church, Unitarian I think, in Oak Park. It is tremendous to view. I meant no slur to you, Caroline, and perhaps I assumed too much; I'm sorry.

Palayo, the incident was probably like all the other CAIR reports, fabricated. Somewhere, I saw the figures about how many of those the FBI has investigated and it was quite large.
