Sharia Alert. "Islamists attack festival in Pakistan university," from IANS:
Lahore, April 15 (IANS) A group of Islamists attacked a social festival in Pakistan's Punjab University and beat up boys, girls and the teachers protesting against 'vulgarity, obscenity and immorality'.
More than 70 activists of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) were involved in the incident Saturday evening when the college was marking its third anniversary celebrations.
Around a dozen students and a teacher, Zeeshan Daneesh, and a guard were thrashed. Anyone who tried to stop the IJT activists was beaten up and even the girl students were not spared, the Daily Times reported Sunday.
The attackers also broke a multi-media projector, a crystal dais, windows, crockery and flowerpots, college officials said.
The IJT activists, led by Muhammad Ayub, first hijacked three of the varsity's buses from its new campus and travelled to the old campus where the event was organised.
They sabotaged the celebrations owing to its 'un-Islamic' nature, the daily said.
'They entered the campus and declared war against the administration for allegedly promoting (the festival),' an official said.
The university authorities informed the nearest police station but the police reached the festival 'after the activists had already wreaked havoc', the daily said.
A college official said the activists 'wanted to impose their particular philosophy of Islamisation'. He said no event was organised during the five-day festival that was offensive to Islam.
However, IJT's Muhammad Ayub said the festival had been attacked because a 'dance party' had been scheduled for the night. He added that female students of the varsity were being 'forced' to participate in it.
Punjab University vice chancellor Arshad Mahmood told Daily Times that the IJT was an illegal body that wanted to impose its particular philosophy of Islamisation over the university's students.
'The college administration will not allow any Talibanisation in this varsity,' he said, adding that stern action would be taken against the attackers.
He said the police had failed to provide adequate protection to the students.
Pakistan is a huge source of fiction material for a black comedy production such as a movie along the lines of Animal House.
The men over there in Pakistan are ridiculous and funny. And Musharaf plays a great straight man; he is eerily similar to the university president in Animal House.

Girls and boys dancing together is just not natural.
What the occasion needed was goats, lots of goats...or donkeys.
One for every boy.
The girls shouldn't even have been there of course.
They should have been covered head to foot, at home, locked in their rooms.
Even so, they would need a good caning every now and then, for luck.

Now you know why homosexuality and lesbianisim is popular among young muslim boys and girls in these helllish islamic countries. There is no other outlet for their sexuality, other than members of their own sexes. ( or animals)

The real disturbing thing here, apart from the obvious, is that there is no rhyme nor reason to the way Muslims punish people. Any vague reason will do. Like the guy on the other thread who raped the woman who was reading her Bible. All you have to be is a Muslim and you can claim divine revelation to do any sick or twisted thing that you want to do. But then I guess they got that from their fearless leader.

My daughter studies at City campus Lahore Uni....which is close Liberty Market Gulberg , a great place for students to hang out.
She has friends and they were thinking of going to this party but for revision finals coming up she didn't.
She was shocked at the events that took place ...but I told her that Pakistan deserved sharia and that the transition was going to be painful because they are trying to force it through rather than phase it through...that I said was the difference....not the fact that sharia was coming.
She said that she could have bee hurt...had she gone ...and I said that I would have been very upset ...but who can challenge the will of Allah T'allah.
HE wants his divine laws for his country ...and who are ordinary citizens to argue....I only wish that it would happen through peace....but we are on the bumpy rooad to sharia...and that she should accept it. I think she is frightened ...but she will eventually see my perspective...it is for the best....Pak is only the start ...we need for Allah's will to spread his wings all over ...Allah's flat earth policy.

Sweetie, we challenge the will of Allah T'allah all the time. It's an ongoing battle between, maybe you've heard of it, good and evil.
As far as Sharia coming in slowly vs. fast, the frog in the pot still gets boiled, only when it comes in fast there is more chance for Kermit to jump out of the pot. One of these days the people jumping out of Muslim countries are going to turn and make a stand and then you know what will happen after that. Legal action should be brought against the attackers. Unfortunately, the local authorities probably agree with the attackers. In the West, such attackers would be arrested, tried, if found guilty, imprisoned and fined.
But I thought Islam was a peaceful religeon, I guess as long as no one is enjoying themselves.
Sharia law is disturbing and inhumane, it makes me ill. How could a woman accept it. Naseem is obviously a sick induvidual.

Goodness!! As an Iranian ex-pat this story from Pakistan brings back memories! We were also always harassed by Islamic police zealots when ever we had a party, even inside our own houses! I remember once on my cousin's wedding they attacked our house, searched every closet and nook and cranny without any court order or warrant, they found a little bit of alcohol and a deck of playing cards (banned by the Fatwa of Khomeini as a possible instrument of gambling), and they arrested everyone with the exception of my 80 year old grandmother and the kids. They kept everyone in jail for several days and eventually the verdict came that everyone including bride and groom must be flogged for being in a party with dance and music and without the separation of men and women and of course because playing cards and alcohol was found in our house and even though most of the guests didn't drink a drop of it still for the simple fact that they allowed it to be drunk in their presence without informing the moral police they also had to be punished! For a while the perspectives looked very gloomy for all of the family! But fortunately the Mullah/judge who issued the verdict turned out to be corrupt and we simply paid him some bribe to change the verdict to monetary fine and saved ourselves from being flogged.Thank God for the corruption of the judicial system in these moral courts where one can obstruct the " justice" by paying bribes sometimes!!! Otherwise the Sharia law would reign supreme in each and every one of the cases!
