By unidentified gunmen. Hmmm. Who could they be?

"Darfur gunmen slay peacekeepers," from [1] Reuters, with thanks to JE:

Unidentified gunmen have killed five African Union (AU) peacekeepers in the Darfur region of western Sudan.

It is the heaviest death toll suffered by the African force in one day since late 2004.

AU spokesman Noureddine Mezni says the five were guarding a water point near the Sudanese border with Chad when they came under fire from gunmen.

Four soldiers were killed in the shooting and the fifth died of his wounds this morning.

Mr Mezni says three gunmen were also killed.
