This man richly deserves punishment, if not capital punishment, but this story is noteworthy for several reasons. First, for its acknowledgment that the modern, moderate UAE, with which so many companies (from Halliburton to Marvel Comics) are so eager to do business, follows Sharia. Second, for its acknowledgment that Sharia includes stoning for adultery, which will usually get you an "Islamophobia" charge for pointing out. And third, because the stepdaughters are getting lashed -- for what? Their punishment stems from the same mentality that gives rise to honor killings.

A PAKISTANI man faces death by stoning in the United Arab Emirates for committing adultery with four of his stepdaughters.In the first case of its kind in the UAE, the Federal Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence issued by an Islamic sharia court in the emirate of Ajman, the English-language Gulf News reported.
Police arrested the man, identified only as Abdul Aziz, in 2005 after his youngest and fifth stepdaughter reported the case when he refused to let her marry a local man, it said.
The man, who had 11 children from illicit relationships with his four stepdaughters, admitted his guilt but said he was the father of only some of the children, Gulf News said.
The four stepdaughters had been sentenced and received 80 lashes each, it added.
Like most Arab states, the UAE implements Islamic sharia laws, but rarely executes convicted criminals.

Being a murderer in an islamic country is not that big of a deal, especially if you murder infidels or women. But, geesh - if you are a woman and even think you should have sex!!!! Even if it is unwanted sex after wearing a tent and one gets raped anyway, or if the woman defends herself and the man gets an owie! Stone her!
Now, we see a man getting the same punishment for what they give to women. That man must not be someone they care about - or else we wouldn't be reading about this story.

Actually, this is an outdated stereotype. It used to be that trailer parks were the "white ghettos" but no more. Trailer parks in Alabama are now Spanish-speaking barrios, populated mostly by the families of Mexican and Central American day laborers. But your point is well-taken.

...right....I would wager old Abdul Aziz participated in the administration of stonings and other Shaira Law sentences more than once in his life....heck, he problem participated in the stoning of his neighbor..(this was after he reported the neighbor to the religious police that the neighbor was not being a good Muslim)...and , of course, the religious police do not require an investigation or proof....
That is why systems like this exist today they whip you before you can say how wrong it is, would you ask for the change in the law now if you were that girl? Look at the DIGG comments and you will see a good question posed by one of the persons as to why all those 'moderates' are ok with this sharia law practice, and instead some others chose to beat the woman up instead.

Why are the daughters being punished for being raped? Because they should have kept their honor by dying rather than being raped. Because it was probably not really rape, since women are temptresses that cannot be trusted (the way devout Muslim men can) to control their urges. Because they should have prayed to Allah for help, because if they had, He would have prevented this. Because if they suffered at any time, they must have done something to deserve it, since everything that happens is due to the will of Allah.

special_guest, what I have heard is happening in Palestine, and other areas where they train jihadists (suicide bombers) - they tell women that they can be redeemed if they become a suicide bomber. Basically, they can be redeemed after a man has raped them by blowing themselves up trying to kill infidels. So, is there any reason why muslim males shouldn't try raping women since they have no consequence and in doing so they are just recruiting another bomb for their cause?

Now I am an opponent of the death penalty, but nevertheless, if the death penalty is imposed there are better and worse methods. Ok, hanging and the electric chair are relatively instantaneous. Stoning, I understand, requires 15 to 20 minutes to lead to death. But for me the more objectionable fact is that stoning can only take place with the active participation of some elements of the general public. This speaks volumes of the societies concerned.

Good point. Personally, I have no problem with the death penalty in extreme cases. But I doubt I could actually pull the lever in some of those extreme cases. And that's when the lever would be to administer a "peaceful" death by drugs. It would be even more difficult to take part in a savage beating lasting 15-20 to execute the tied-and-bound culprit.
But Islamic societies have no difficulty in rounding up crowds of volunteers to participate. Even (or maybe especially) in cases where the "perpetrator" is a woman, and the "crime" is infidelity (or worse yet, the "crime" is being a rape victim), there are throngs of people pushing to get a chance to throw their stones before she expires.
