PARIS, April 2, 2007 (AFP) - France 24, the round-the-clock television news network launched four months ago with a brief to provide a French perspective on world events, on Monday added Arabic broadcasts to its progamme.The channel, which until now broadcast in French and English, will broadcast in Arabic to a potential 20 million households in North Africa and the Middle East between 1400 GMT and 1800 GMT daily, a spokeswoman said.
The remaining broadcast hours on France 24's new channel will be filled with either English or French programmes, depending on the country.
The Arabic broadcasts will have the same format as the English and French ones: a 10-minute news bulletin every half hour, followed by filed reports, debates, or features on sport, culture or business as well as a weather report.

As arabic is probably already more widely spoken in france than any other European language, why shouldn't their TV channel broadcast in their second language?
The French don't seem to understand the magnitude of this disaster. In time, France24 will begin to resemble national TV stations in Egypt and Jordan, it will broadcast sermons that incite Muslims to violence against their Western hosts, it will brainwash children with cartoons that glorify martyrdom, and it will aggravate the already distorted anti-Israel views of Europeans.
It seems that the European ruling elites have decided to destroy Europe, and the apathetic sheeple are just following along like lemmings.
Not all hope is lost for the French. They have leaders like The Dutch, Germans, British and Americans have.
The French are our brothers in Western Civilization and they have made a notable contribution to its advancement over the years. Let's put the French gov't in the same category as the governments in all the other Western nations but give the indigenous Gallic types some credit.
I've been talking to some French through YouTube and they sound a lot like the folks here. This is just getting started, but the French have a serious issue with the 10% ... that's enough to start some serious trouble and they know it.

Most Western countries have 3 problems:

Schmegal - I understand that 'chauvinism' was named for a French officer. I understand that the French are just about the only nation more 'patriotic' than the cowboy Americans ( me )in the militant sense of the word.

b) That in World War 2, there was the Vichy Government and collaboration was the name of the game with the Gestapo. The French sold out the Jews who live amongst them.

Its not that the French are unusually dhimmi-like in comparison to other Western countries. What is unusual about the French is their ability to be so aggressively against the U.S. and the U.K. while acting in dhimmitude to Jihad that makes them unique.

The majority of Muslim men and women are illiterate and they work hard to keep the young women illiterate. They live in areas with their own shops, mosques and of course “cultural centres” provided by the infidel taxpayer. So the only way of communicating with them is by radio and television. I worked in a Muslim area and most homes had widescreen televisions permanently tuned into Pakistani stations.
While I detest the MSM as much as anyone, these stations may be to only way to reach them and they have to be better than having them watching Pakistani and Arab stations.
Not a great choice, but better our Dihimmi's than their Jihadi's.

France produced serious Enlightenment thinkers like Voltaire, Rosseau (?) and DeCartes. The seminal study of the American ethos was written by a French admirer ( De Tocqueville. )
The United States would probably have lost the war of Independence if not for the French Navy and the efforts of generals like LaFayette, who many streets are named for in my area of the country.
The French stopped the Germans in WWI - it was French leadership under Petain and his artillery that stopped the Germans. We came in later and ended speculation for the German High Command - but it was the French who turned WWI, not the American Expeditiary Force.
The French make wine. The French make art. The French appreciate nude women more than any other western nation... I don't want to list out their contributions here, but if you need reminding, go to the nearest repository for fine art and see how much the French have contributed to the quality of life in the Western world.

The French have been in a funk since WWII and try to pursue 'a third way' and so we forget what they have contributed to our shared civilization. I've been to France and went in the first time with the idea of the 'nasty, rude French bastard' but was surprised. Pleasantly.
As long as you make the effort to show the French that you respect and admire what they've produced and speak to them in their language first, they have no problem switching to English.

In other words: I don't understand, do you speak English? Of course they do!
Look: some people remember what our grandfathers did for France. I've had people thank me personally for what the US did in 1944. I accepted this praise on behalf of those who paid in blood and treasure and I made clear I understood it was not for me, but for those before me. People do remember in France and are not too proud to say it publically. On a train.

I'd be able to make a home in France if it came to that. It is western, christian and beautiful. It is part of our common heritage and has a lot to offer in the future. Bashing France or Britain or the Netherlands isn't going to help unless we do it like concerned relatives. We are related.

Without belittling the appalling suffering of the French in WW1 it was the sacrifice of a “green” British volunteer army on the Somme – 60,000 casualties on the first day, the worst day in the British Armies history – that relieved the pressure on Petain and the French at Verdun. Also with all due respect to the American Expeditionary Force, the German General Staff acknowledged it was the British 100 day offensive in 1918 that finished them.
Like everything else it was a combined effort, no nation could have done it alone.
