UK reporters union to boycott Israel

I am late with this -- the story dates from April 14 -- but I missed it at that time, and it should not be missed. Did Britain's National Union of Journalists ever denounce anyone for the murder of Daniel Pearl? Was the identity of the perpetrators too nebulous? Was it too difficult to allow the word "jihad" to pass through their lips?

By George Conger for the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to John:

Britain's National Union of Journalists denounced Israel on Friday for its "military adventures" in Gaza and Lebanon, called on the government to impose sanctions and urged a boycott of Israeli goods.

By a vote of 66 to 54, the annual delegate's meeting of Britain's largest trade union for journalists called for "a boycott of Israeli goods similar to those boycotts in the struggles against apartheid South Africa led by trade unions, and [for] the [Trades Union Congress] to demand sanctions be imposed on Israel by the British government."

Some of the union's 40,000 members decried its "trendy lefty" agenda. Other motions before the four-day meeting in Birmingham, which ends Sunday, included condemnations of the US detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and support for Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez.

Wow, the British journalist put up a bigger fight against Israel then they did against Iran when there was an act of war.

Now we finally see some British willing to draw the line in the sand.

We all know that journalists are never loyal to their home country or towards the west. It should read 'journalists that recide in Britian'.

I know many British citizens and they are much better then this.

What those wanker journalists fail to see is that Israel practices inclusion in its institutions like the Knesset...

... while the Middle Eastern enemies of Israel practice the aparteid of gender segregation and are working to implement sharia, which institutionalizes both gender-based segregation
and a two-tiered system of rights based on religious beliefs.

It's the Muslims who want to put up an aparteid system - not the Israelis.

How @#$%^ stupid can people be? No limit exists.

At least it gives these nauseating pusillanimous cockroaches something to take their minds off the fact that one of their compatriots is being held hostage by their precious "palestinians".

If there was a chance people would care I'd help publicize a boycott of the red media namely the Independent and Guardian.

Greetings:

Here's a similar article entitled "Gaza kidnappers face the wrath of world's media"

It's located at: thescotsman.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=641142007

What I found interesting was their demonstration was held in Israel.

Not exactly the kind of "wrath" I grew up with in the Bronx.

See the ever-percipient Melanie Phillips on this at:

66 to 54?

That's a lot closer than I would have thought.

A commie/nazi joint venture.

How did they degenerate to such a degree?

How can the Brits leave their new services to the lowest scum of their society?

In other words. We side with you against Israel. Please let him go. He is one of us and we are all on your side.

The sun has set on Brit's. When they turn their back on Israel...their glory is gone!

unfortunately the left wing loonies are now in charge of the asylum in Great Britain and the right wing conservative peoplewho are the sane one s are now the minority I sometimes wonder whether whether these left-wing loonies realizem the first victims under sharia law will be them

“How can the Brits leave their new services to the lowest scum of their society?”

I understand, and sympathize with your point, but how could “the Brits” possibly have any say in the doings of the NUJ? I don’t think we could hold a referendum on the matter.

"The sun has set on Brit's. When they turn their back on Israel...their glory is gone!"

Shouldn't that be "The sun has set on the NUJ"? See my previous post.

Quotes from the blogosphere

"Ah, good. I’ve been very worried about what the NUJ’s position was on Israel and Lebanon, so at least it’s cleared up now. I look forward to similar boycotts of Saudi oil (abuse of women and human rights), Turkish desserts (limits to freedom of speech) and, of course, the immediate replacement of all stationery in the NUJ’s offices which has been made or assembled in China. I’m sure those boycotts will be along surely. In the meantime, the governments of these countries must be in a frenzy of fear. Which way will the NUJ go? Exciting, isn’t it?"

and

"shame on you, you forgot Dafur where 400,000 have died over the last few years or Iran where bloggers who write anything critical of the government are arrested and tortured, that would mean me and you if we lived there.

Where is the NUJ when you need them?

The search for a new South Africa to boycott continues. "

Well, it's wise to remember, this is the union, in other words, the left wing activists, who've taken over the union. Why the workers bother with these parasites is a mystery to me. They take over the union, then start working against their own members, following their own little Left Wing fantasy.
The National Union of Teachers is the same. Every year, they vote for a strike, the members are balloted and vote not to.
It's why unions are so ineffectual, they have ceased to represent anything but their own Left Wing delusions, with the odd exception.
The Independent, or Guardian 2 as I call it. It used to have a noble ideal, to be truly independent, but there you go.

Nah the Guardian is the Independent 'light'. I remember a disgusting front page of a primary school class photo, each child from a different country and 1 out of the 30 or so was english. The condescending headline proclaimed:

"SHOULDN'T THIS TEACH US SOMETHING?"

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

"The search for a new South Africa to boycott continues."

You are so right. But instead of jumping at the chance to be true to the left principles of liberty, equality, fraternity - which would mean recognising Sharia as a complete abomination, equivalent in human misery to Apartheid, they blow it.

I think we all know it's because Israel won't let some mussie terrorists loose (on the world again)so the "kidnappers" who have the alBCCera journalist will let him go
