Because the owners donate to the IDF. So I hope all Canadian anti-jihadists will buy a book from Chapters or Indigo today.
"Pro-Palestinian groups call for boycott of IDF donor," by Itamar Eichner for Ynet News, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
Pro-Palestinian groups in Canada have launched a campaign to boycott a chain of bookstores whose Canadian Jewish owners are major donors to lone soldiers in the Israeli army. The Coalition against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) in Canada last week launched a boycott of Chapter and Indigo bookstores, which are owned by billionaire Gerry Schwartz and his wife Heather Reisman.
Coalition members accused Schwartz and his wife of supporting the Israeli army's oppression of the Palestinians by donating money to lone soldiers.
Palestinian as well Canadian members of the CAIA rioted last week outside an Indigo bookstore where Reisman attended a book signing ceremony.
Boycott all Muslim run Businesses or Businesses with Muslim employees...
I expect the demonstrators were fresh out of a confab of "Marxists" and assorted Islamist that convened at the U of T last weekend.
The boycotters probably only read the Qu'ran and pamphlets published by organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood, so they aren't likely to do much damage to Chapters/Indigo's bottom line.
And their antics are likely only to increase Stephen Harper's popularity as PM. Our media and senior beaurocrats may be dhimmified beyond belief, but the average Canadian isn't any too amused by the antics of the Khadr family, their imam, Aly Hindy of the Salahuddin Mosque bleating in the press about the Toronto 17 being held in solitary for a year, etc.
I'm switching my book-buying today. And I buy a lot of books.
Palestinians boycotting a bookstore is like carrion vultures boycotting a gourmet shoppe. Meaningless, but annoying.
lets call for mass boycotts of islamic stores and businesses, halal stores, book shops, corner shops, restaurants.
can we do this?
i will blog every site and call for this mass boycott.
I buy all my books from Chapters and have for years, one more reason to keep buying from them.
Time to buy a new book.
Yawn. Boring. This is just a small group of the usual losers who will have no effect whatsoever. The National Post covered this last weekend - mainly because the same groups were protesting and boycotting the opening on Bloor Street West of an Israeli owned coffee/restaurant chain. Sorry, the name of the chain escapes me but I've made a point of searching it out when I'm next in the area.
I'm buying a book today at Chapters. I always shop at Chapters. They are a courteous, service-oriented book retailer. I also have my "I Rewards" Chapters discount card (you get discounts on purchases.)
I buy a lot of books and most of them are from Chapters, but this is another reason to buy even more from them. Maybe I will pick up a copy of the koran to desecrate?
"your grandchildren will be buying books at Chapters and supporting the IDF."
anyone up for a roadtrip?

Go on then! Boycott all businesses with Muslim employees. I bet you can't.
Hypocrite.
I bet some CAIA members do have Canadian passwords, but (at least in this episode) they behave like enemies of Canada and Canadian people.
But I'm not surprised, you know:
Multiculturalism, R.I.P. (1982-2007)
What about the "boycott" - do not worry, nobody pay attention to this pathetic crap and Chapters business won't suffer. Actually, it's rather the best advertising I've ever seen.
Muslims may find that getting hired will become more difficult....The Muslims are setting a good track record for being difficult and embarrassing employees...staying away from them and their work locations is becoming easier and easier...
I wonder if this is the same group that has been picketing the downtown store since the Christmas season.
Let's start a petition to stop taking cabs driven by Muslims... that would drive the North American Muslim economy down.
Josephine:
Probably. After all, Chapters/Indigo brought Aayan Hirsi Ali to town earlier this year to promote "Infidel", so, even though C/I wouldn't carry copies of an Alberta-based weekly that published some of the infamous Danish "Mo'toons", Reisman & Co. make an excellent and target with their flagship location at Bay & Bloor, which is very handy to two downtown university campuses that have active Muslim Students Assoc branches.
Watch for a boycott of her husband's movie chain (Cineplex), coming to a multi-screened theatre near you soon.
Latest example of dhimmitude in Canadian media:
Catholics angry at CBC over Altar Boy Gang
A CBC pilot program that portrays altar boys as druggies and the Catholic communion host as “munchable snack food, possible poker chips and a repository for drops of LSD” has sparked a complaint accusing the public broadcaster of blasphemy.
... The Toronto-based Catholic rights group says the CBC is guilty of a “double standard” by lacking sensitivity about the country’s most dominant religion, while it hired a Muslim Canadian consultant last year to ensure that Islamic practices were respected in the program Little Mosque on the Prairie.

I'm sure you're right.
This type of boycott makes me angry. Heather Reisman and Gerry Schwartz are private citizens and they can do whatever they want with their money.
What if non-Muslims formed a group and then staged protests and boycotted businesses that supported the "Palestinians" and any pro-Islamic-terrorist group? How quickly would they be branded racists Islamaphobes, despite the fact that terrorists are terrorists and the IDF is a legitimate government armed force?
Just seeing the words "Israeli" and "apartheid" together makes me spit.
I just went to that group's website and they are planning protests outside of many Chapters/Indigo bookstores on June 9th. I will make a point of shopping there on that day. I wonder if there will be any counter-protests?
Keep your business profitable and keep your customers happy...DO not hire Muslims....
Just last week?? There was a demonstration calling for a boycott a few months ago at Bay/Bloor. I was at the counter-protest (complete with Israeli flags) saying to passers-by "Support Chapters, buy a book" and lots of people stopped to ask what the obnoxious protesters were on about.
I might have to buy a book on June 9...
I've tried to avoid purchasing books at Chapters/Indigo since they refused to carry the Western Standard with the Mohammed cartoons.
Now it seems that I *should* shop make it a point to shop there.
I boycotted another Canadian chain bookstore, McNally-Robinson, for the same reason but living in a smaller community means fewer options so I've taken a different tack. Now, I request books which they don't have (ie. America Alone) and rearrange books within the store. I wanted to purchase The Volunteer by Michael Ross. After a search through four different sections, we found six copies. I bought one and moved two others to a prominent location on the "new non-fiction" shelf where it should have been in the first place.
My friend and I are also starting a campaign to request your (Robert Spencer's) books at our local library since they don't have any.
Why are libraries and bookstores so predominately liberal/left-wing/moonbat?
