In "Media bombs," Diana West notes how the 183,000 Muslims in America who declared their support for suicide attacks in the recent Pew poll could transform America in the future.
...According to Pew's data, one-quarter of younger American Muslims approve of the presence of skin-ripping, skull-crushing, organ-piercing violence in civilian life as a religious imperative -- "in defense of Islam." (The Pew pollsters declined to define "defense of Islam," but having lived through Pope Rage, Cartoon Rage, Koran Rage, Satanic Verses Rage, etc., I think it's safe to say this is a rather broad category.) Such approval for religious violence is not just another unfettered political opinion finding expression in a poll-taker's tally. On the contrary, the fact that a significant young chunk of American Islam believes such violence has a place in society indicates something closer to the end of unfettered political opinion. It may signal the beginning of physical coercion as a factor in the American political process. This helps explain why the 69 percent figure is no consolation prize; only unanimity is acceptable here.It's not that a physical fear factor pertaining to mainly Islamic terrorism hasn't long existed -- just take a look at the dispiriting security perimeter erected around the Capitol, for instance. But this Pew poll may mark the first official acknowledgement that such violence, and, equally important, the threat of such violence, actually find approval within the American polity.
Something new and barbarous under the sun, right? This is why it's all the more disturbing to review the happy headline-spin the story received. The blogger Ace of Spades provided an early roundup of the Orwellian tags, which included: "Poll: Most Muslims seek to adopt American lifestyle" (USA Today); "Muslims assimilate better in U.S. than Europe, poll finds" (New York Times); "Poll: US Muslims Feel Post-9/11 Backlash Despite Moderate Outlook" (Voice of America). My personal fave: "Upbeat portrait of US Muslims" (Sacramento Bee). The accompanying stories were no less giddy.
But why the journalistic rush to depict the shocking story as so much happy talk? Therein lies a tale, one of fanatical religious fervor-on the part of the mainstream media (MSM). Like other politically correct elites, the MSM follow their own version of the "true faith": multiculturalism. Multiculturalism preaches that all civilizations are the same, all religions are the same, all peoples are the same. The Pew results, meanwhile, tell them something else again: Some people -- some young American Muslim people -- approve of suicide bombing in defense of Islam. Does this finding perhaps introduce a qualitative difference among civilizations, religions, and peoples? That is, is there something more desirable about societies that don't inspire and glorify suicide bombings -- something worth preserving? Conversely, is there something about Islam our own society requires protection against? This is very tricky territory for the MSM. The logical answers are multiculturally blasphemous.
The MSM response: it's better to say nothing at all. Or better yet, just smile. Big grin. Happy story. It's one measly quarter, after all. Just one in four. And isn't that something to be upbeat about?

It is sometimes objected that "they said no-one would ever go faster than sound and they were wrong. Now they say no-one will ever go faster than light. . ." Actually it is probably not true that anybody said it was impossible to go faster than sound. It was known that rifle bullets go faster than sound long before an aircraft did. The truth is that some engineers said that controlled flight at faster than sound might be impossible, and they were wrong about that. Faster Than Light Travel FTL is a very different matter. It was inevitable that someone would one day succeed in flying faster than sound once technology got round the problems. It is not inevitable that one day technology will enable us to go faster than light. Relativity has a lot to say about it. If FTL travel or FTL communication were possible then causality would probably be violated and some very strange conclusions would follow.

I posted the paragraph above because I believe it is germane to the MSM responding to any evidence that the reason the Muslims that live amongst us pose a threat is their adherence to Islam with it's better to say nothing at all. Or better yet, just smile.
I once tried to explain to a friend why it was likely that man would never travel faster than the speed of light. I was hampered in my attempt at enlightenment because my friend lacked a basic understanding of sound and light. The lack of a basic understanding of Islam makes warning about the threat that is Islam resurgent difficult. Worse, most of the information Americans receive about Islam is mangled through politically correct filters. As a consequence six years after 9/11 we are still waging war on a tactic.
I have attempted to spread the insights provided by JW by writing my local media. I am hampered by my inability to express myself to an audience that is ignorant about Islam and to do so succinctly (my local paper limits you to 300 words). When I attempted to recall my arguments against Faster Than Light Travel I became bogged down in verbosity. I googled Faster Than Light Travel and found the succinct argument I posted above.
How would you respond to the poll results that show widespread support for suicide murders amongst American Muslims in the succinct manner necessary for a letter to the editor? My suggestion is for you to post your proto-letters here for the JW community. We could attempt to reach a wider audience by passing these letters on to our local media. I am assuming that JW would permit their site to be used for such an endeavor.
My only other suggestion is to start a pool on what city go Muslims will nuke first.

Since 9/11, there have been quite a few cases of what could be called “instant jihad syndrome” here in the United States. The main stream media has carefully ignored this string of Muslim violence and murders. Even the FBI is anxious to tell us, after each such event, that this is not terrorism.
But if the following is not terrorism, what is?
- Febuary, 2007, Sulejman Talovic, an 18-year-old Bosnian Muslim immigrant, opened fire in a Salt Lake City shopping mall and managed to methodically murder five and wound four others with a shotgun. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Talovic attended Friday prayers at a mosque about a block from the mall.
- A 30-year-old Muslim man, Naveed Afzal Haq, went on a shooting rampage at a Jewish community center in Seattle, announcing "I'm a Muslim-American; I'm angry at Israel."
- An Egyptian national, Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, murdered two and wounded three at an Israeli airline ticket counter at LAX.
- A bearded 21-year-old student, Joel Hinrichs, blew himself up with a backpack filled with TATP (the explosive of choice in the Mideast) outside a packed Oklahoma University football stadium not long after he started attending the local mosque.
- A 23-year-old student, Mohammed Ali Alayed, slashed the throat of his Jewish friend in Houston after apparently undergoing a religious awakening (he went to a local mosque afterward).
- The D.C. snipers — John Muhammad and Lee Malvo, both black Muslim converts — picked off 13 people in the suburbs around the Beltway as part of what Muhammad described as a "prolonged terror campaign against America" around the first anniversary of 9/11, which he had praised.
- Omeed Aziz Popal of Fremont, Calif., hit and killed a bicyclist there then took his SUV on a hit-and-run spree in San Francisco, mowing down pedestrians at crosswalks and on sidewalks before police caught up with him, whereupon the Muslim called himself a "terrorist."
- A 22-year-old Muslim, Ismail Yassin Mohamed, stole a car in Minneapolis and rammed it into other cars before stealing a van and doing the same, injuring drivers and pedestrians, while repeatedly yelling, "Die, die, die, kill, kill, kill" — all, he said, on orders from "Allah."
- A Nashville cabbie made anti-Semitic statements and praised Adolph Hitler’s campaign against Jews during a religious argument that culminated when he ran over one of the passengers as he left the taxi, witnesses said during a hearing today. The cab driver, Ibrahim Ahmed, said Hitler was “trying to rid the world of Jews,” the alleged victim, Jeremie Imbus, told the court.
- A 22-year-old Iranian honors student, Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, deliberately rammed his SUV into a crowd at the University of North Carolina to "punish the government of the United States" for invading Iraq and other Muslim nations.
You can add to this list the recent plans to murder soldiers at Fort Dix as well as an unknown number of additional jihadist plans uncovered and stopped by the FBI.
The terrorists are here and determined to kill us -- unfortunately, our leaders and the media are just as determined to ignore that fact.

After much research and considering different points of view, I still believe that Muhammed's "Allah" is the pre-Islamic pagan Moon deity "allah." Too much coincidence for it to be otherwise (same name). In addition, Muhammed never explains in the Koran who "Allah" is because he didn't have to - everyone in that region already knew about and worshipped the small-g "allah." Muhammed simply and unilaterally elevated the pagan deity to "God" status after getting rid of the other 359 pagan deities.
So, 41:37 is simply Muhammed making sure that everyone now knew there was a difference between the old "allah" and the new "Allah." But, it's really: Meet the new boss/same as the old boss.

As discussed by many several days, the Pew poll was flawed. A "survey" is actually an exercise in economics. People choose to respond based on a variety of factors. A survey that pays people money to answer is an exercise in experimental economics.
The Pew poll started with about 60,000 contacts and ended up with 1,050 usable surveys, as they determined usable.
Pew started out paying 25 dollars to take the survey, but they said people stopped answering questions half way through. That is when the questions switch from complaining about America, in Afghanistan and Iraq, or discrimination to Arab or Muslim culpability for terrorism and 9-11.
At that point, Pew says so many people stopped answering questions that they had to raise the fee to 50 dollars to get surveys completed. For 50 dollars, Muslims in the US will say they are against al Qaeda and terrorism. For 25 dollars they won't say that.
The survey takes the person's name and address, that's how they get paid. So, in effect, you have to say you are against terrorism and al Qaeda. So the "survey" is really prompting people to say they are against al Qaeda and terrorism.
As an exercise in experimental economics, Pew discovered that for 25 dollars, US Muslims won't say they are against al Qaeda and terrorism, but for 50 dollars they will.
Even for 50 dollars, they could only get fewer than 1,000 out of an original contact sample of 60,000 to say they were against terrorism and al Qaeda. That did involve changing from 25 to 50 part way through that search.
Pew was not doing a conventional survey. Their survey design, you get money for giving your name and address guaranteed that the respondent had to say they were against al Qaeda. Despite that, some people did anyhow.
Pew was really doing a search for US Muslims willing to say they were against al Qaeda. What Pew found was that its hard to find even 500 US Muslims willing to say they are against al Qaeda.
To do that, they had to increase the money offered.
They also had to reuse old survey respondents who they knew in advance would be more willing to say they were against al Qaeda. These were people who didn't go to mosque, owned their own home for the most part, and were in the same place for several years.
The bottom line is that what Pew did was experimental economics. This is because they had, in effect, an experimental design to pay 25 dollars to say al Qaeda was bad, and got almost zero response, and then for 50 dollars could find over 500 but fewer than 1000 US Muslims willing to say they were against al Qaeda. Even then they had to get the recontact group which were about 166 of their 1,050 survey responses.
In the Pew survey, the safer it is to answer a question against Americans or America, the higher the response indicating anti-Americanism. Its safer to be against the US in Iraq so that gets a high answer.
Its safer to say the US is not sincere in the War on Terrorism or that they don't believe Arabs did 9-11 than say they support al Qaeda. So they get higher responses when its safer to say they are anti-America or anti-American.
Taking the poll questions individually as if they were a correct unbiased response on that question by itself is incorrect. The questions have to be read in order, one has to understand the 25/50 issue, and one has to see that the safer legally it is to answer in the anti-American way, the higher the anti-American response.
The poll has to be taken as a whole in this sense. You have to read the fine print and then put it back together. You can't evaluate each question as if its a meaningful response by itself. This survey started with 60,000 contacts and ended up with 1,050 usable respsones in Pew's own judgment.

In Mien Kampf Hitler notes that "spiritual terror" (violence against the person) is a tool to silence all critical analysis. That and the "big lie" were the foundation of Nazi politics. These are the means by which to destroy critical thinking. Many Muslims already engage in Storm Trooper tactics, it's only a matter of time before they engage in homicidal bombing.
Islam is a tool to destroy "indigenous cultures", "indigenous peoples" and has done so in India, in North Africa, in Constantinople, etc. There is nothing new in this typical pattern of Imperialist aggression (Pizzaro in Peru, e.g.) in history. However, Islam is the most effective engine of Imperialism in history (at root it is Arab Imperialism) and while most other Imperialists in history (British, e.g.), feel some sense of shame, Muslims are self-righteous re their history of mass murder (India, Armenians, Darfur, etc.) as they shamelessly kill in order to impose this Arab invented Imperialist-Rationalization-System on "indigenous cultures", "indigenous peoples".
All Imperialist systems are based on force to one degree or other. Islam gives "religious" sanction to such force, even to mass murder. It's a unique "religion" in that regard.

The result of young Muslim men in the US being more willing to respond that they support terrorism to defend Islam than other US Muslims reflects their greater aggression and need for 50 dollars.

Peter Jennings on 9-11 was already bringing out the bigot truncheon to silence opposition to Jenning's support of immigration after the WTC 1993 attack. That was used to frighten the 9-11 families, and still is used to keep them in check.

The thing to study is how hard it was for Pew to get 500 Muslims in the US to say they were against al Qaeda and the different methods they had to use to do it. This included taking name and address for the respondent to get the 25 and then 50 dollars. That forced a no support answer for al Qaeda. That was their design.
Islam should be studied as one of the many Imperialist-Domination-Rationalization-Systems in an Imperialism Studies Programs in colleges and universities. It should be subjected to critical analysis on that basis.

It needs to be a constant theme, in order to bring about a new age when those Articles of Faith are no longer so unthinkingly and dangerously subscribed to, and the Idols of the Age toppled, as Saddam Hussein's statue was, in Baghdad, just a few years ago, but how long ago and far away it must seem, to George Bush, to Dick Cheney, to so many of the obstinate, semi-informed, and self-deluded.

Substitute America for Islam and Saudi Arabia and you get what many people said about this country in the decades after WWII. McDonald's was a dire threat to local foods. English dominance would destroy all other languages. All other cultures and their history would be lost to the great imperialist America.
The US became a gulliver that needed to be tied down. Multiculturalism and moral relativism did the trick. Mission accomplished.
Islam will not face the same scrutiny in our lifetime because it is still considered "third world". It is still considered the religion of the oppressed, while Christianity is the signature religion of the colonizers.

Your critical analysis re the Imperialistic nature of Islam, its roots in Arab Imperialism, has certainly caused a lot of thinking on that matter. Islam is one of many such rationalization-systems, but probably the most effective of all.
I sometimes wonder if Joseph Smith's angel (was he influenced by Islam?) had mandated violence against unbelievers whether the Western Hemisphere would have been all Mormon by now. In any case, the mandates to violence and intolerance of equality-pluralism in Islam (the epicenter being Saudi Arabia) are the spark plugs of the Engine of Arab Imperialism.

Cave-talk-jive-talk: The Arabs would probably be better off if Joseph Smith's (Moroni-Mormon) angel had given his revelation to Muhammad. But if Muhammad's angel had revealed his message to Joe Smith we might have the same problem as with Islam-but closer to home.
It just occurred to me that Muslims would be bowing to Salt Lake City if Joseph Smith had gotten a different angel in his cave.

D. West is a lone voice inside a conservative wilderness among columnist. Go to townhall.com and read all the other conservatives. Not one of them indicates any real knowledge of Islam's history and atmospherics (thx Hugh). She is the only one willing to call for Iraq withdrawal for reasons Hugh and Robert point out and many here agree.

Muslims do not assimilate in America if they are known as Muslims first and Americans second.
The problem with Ms. West thinking this will bring about violence is that it will not as all groups have violent members in their sects. The problem is importing more Muslims where they become not a segregated enclave, but a power hungry source demanding power which Ms. West eludes to.
There is though not a big problem with Islam in America if it does start getting violent as Americans and America will readily crackdown. The problem is though in leaving it foment and when bin Laden bombs US cities now that America is forced out of Iraq and the Russian Chinese contingent aiding them foment a civil war which overwhelms the security system.
America can not fight an external war and an internal war at the same time, especially with 30 million to 100 million Mexicans marching in protest here.

I think the opposite, given the time and place of Smith's revelations. If Smith had been Mohammed part II we'd have no Mormons at all instead of us being all Mormans.
Mohammedism survived and thrived because of its historical timing. Think what would have happened if Mohammed and his companions would have tried expansion in 4 B.C. or if they'd gotten their start in 1840 or 1940 A.D.
If the Mo-foes had started up the tribal business in these other epochs we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Thanks. I was taught by someone somewhere, read the questions in a survey first.
Watching the PBS News Hour and other PBS spew, the commentariat is saying two things:
1) 1000 or so extremists are holding off the entire American army in Iraq, and the Brits there, and NATO in Afghanistan.
2) There are 1000 extremists in the US against immigration, each of them is calling every Senator's office each hour.
The commentariat get 50,000 to 100,000 per speech at corporate conferences. Hugh and Robert, if you turn to the other side, you will make millions. You just have to go to corporate conferences and say how wrong you were and how you are so sorry. Is there anyone you can make it up to them, besides taking their check for 100,000 dollars.

10 WAYS TO FIGHT MOHAMMED & MUSLIM WORSHIP
The worship of mohammed, which is inspired by islam (the made-up mess of a book called the koran, the hadith, the sira), has a nihilist view of existence, as do all the totalitarian belief systems thought up and implemented by demented, hating men. Paradise is always on the horizon; destruction, violence, hatred, sadism, pain and death, always on the march toward the ever-receding goal; in this case, until you get the promised sex orgy in heaven.
Bombs and soldiers are not anywhere close to the answer in confronting totalitarianism. Nor is merely the will to win, as if we could gain victory if we only tolerate more deaths by our own civilization, and more of our treasure expended in ever greater amounts.
This is above all an ideological war. It needs to be waged as a battle of ideas.
The audience for this battle splits into two parts, the worshippers of mohammed, and those in the West who cannot or will not recognize their own peril, or who indeed share the totalitarian point of view and hate liberty, especially because they hate America and Western Democracy.
Here are ten ideas and themes, (they are many more) we can use in the battle.
1. YOU ARE GOING TO HELL. Jihadis and other mohammed-worshippers think they are going to the sex orgy in the sky. This is a very vulnerable mental state. The question of their ultimate other-worldly destination resides in the upper-most part of their psychologies. They must be told at every chance that their destination is HELL.
2. YOU ARE BEING EXPLOITED BY RICH COWARDS. The vast disparity of wealth in the islamic world is rich with possibilities. Poor, ignorant moslems (meaning, most) must be bombarded with the idea that their religion is a sham used by wealthy cowards, who are only interested in saving their own pampered, sheltered lives and their money, but who use mohammed-worship to keep ordinary moslems down.
3. YOUR WOMEN ARE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE. There is always going to be a large segment of moslem women who will be intelligent enough and courageous enough to be susceptible to the truth, and of acting upon it. They can be a valuable fifth column. Even with the relentless intimidation and brain-washing moslem men inflict on moslem women, the human mind is capable of understanding the truth, and the human heart of fighting for the respect and dignity every human being deserves.
4. YOUR CIVILIZATION IS A ZERO. mohammed-worship produces nothing constructive, adds nothing positive, creates nothing, and can take no pride in any accomplishments modern man can think of.
5. MOHAMMED IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A NARCISSTIC SOCIOPATH. The man worshipped by moslems had all the expected failings of a sociopath. They are familiar to anyone who has studied islam even a little, but they are unknown or denied even by mohammed-worshippers, forget about Westerners. The various aspects of this sociopath's life must be relentlessly presented to the world (like his marriage to a 9 year old girl Aisha).
6. THE KORAN IS A VIOLENT, INCOHERENT MESS. The koran, to worshippers of mohammed, is the perfect analogy to the Resurrection for Christians. If you don't believe in the koran as the literal spoken word of allah, then you don't believe the central tenet of the faith. The koran is so incoherent and ridiculous, it cannot be defended except by death threats and intimidation. It must be "deconstructed" in the hundreds of ways possible. All that needs to be shown, literally, is that one word of the koran is false: how difficult can this be, if the propaganda is relentless enough?
7. MOHAMMED-WORSHIP CAN ONLY BE DEFENDED BY DEATH THREATS AND INTIMIDATION. The worship of mohammed is illogical and irrational, hence it can only be defended by death threats and intimidation. As long as those are the only "logical" means available to defend islam (that is, any exercise of human intelligence in any aspect of islam is deemed to be dissing allah), they should be focused upon daily.
8. ISLAM HATES AND DISRESPECTS CHRISTIANS, JEWS, HINDUS, BUDDHISTS AND EVERY NON-WORSHIPPER OF MOHAMMED. This cannot be stressed enough. Everywhere in the world the worship of mohammed goes, it hates and kills. The koran teaches moslems to disrespect and loathe the belief of Jews and Christians. The worship of mohammed deserves no more than what advocates toward others.
9. THE WORSHIP OF MOHAMMED HAS NO GOLDEN RULE, NO FORGIVENESS OF OTHERS, AND IS LOVELESS. This cannot be stressed enough. The golden rule is inherent in human nature. Even moslems, because they are human beings, must understand that the golden rule is the basic rule of existence. But they have been convinced that infidels are subhuman, and thus not worth according respect even in the most basic way.
10. WE LOVE MOSLEMS, WE PITY THEM, WE HOPE FOR THEIR REVERSION TO HUMANITY. This also cannot be stressed enough. mohammed-worshippers are human beings, just like the rest of us, no better and no worse, except their minds have been flooded with fear, intimidation, irrationality and hatred. The propaganda battle must include a constant reminder that all we want is their peaceful happiness and fulfillment.
