Hooded Fatah al-Islam fighters have fanned through the residential districts of north Lebanon's Nahr al-Bared Palestinian refugee camp in preparation for what appears to be a final showdown with the Lebanese army, residents told Naharnet Friday.Fatima Madhy, who deserted her apartment early in the day and re-settled with relatives south of Beirut, said the militants are "everywhere in the camp. They are occupying residential apartments and setting up sniping nests on rooftops."
Madhy, 42, said that after taking refuge in the basement with her husband, four children and neighbors, "we went up to our second floor apartment and found three hooded Fatah al-Islam gunmen entrenched in it."
"We begged them to leave. We told them that if they open fire from our apartment the Lebanese Army would shell it," Added Madhy, her eyes brimming with tears.
"They wouldn't listen. One of them who spoke Arabic with a North African accent told us that we better help them in the fight against the American (U.S) Army."
"We argued that it is the Lebanese army that they are fighting, not the U.S. Army, but they didn't want to understand. One of them said the Lebanese Government is controlled by the Americans which makes it an enemy government," she said.
Hizbullah Leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah has accused the majority government of Premier Fouad Saniora of being a U.S.-controlled dummy.
Madhy's husband, Abdul Karim, a retired Palestinian guerrilla who fought with the mainstream Fatah faction in the 1980s, said Fatah al-Islam fighters are "not Palestinians."
"They speak a variety of accents: Syrian, Yemeni, Egyptian, Saudi, Moroccan and Algerian. Some of them do not speak Arabic at all."
"They say they came here to fight the crusaders," Abdul Karim explained.
A significant, though hardly atypical, observation. Wherever there is jihad, faithful mujihadeen from around the world flock to the cause. Exactly what happened in Bosnia, Chechnya, and Lebanon. Europe, please take note.
Abi Hureira, said in a telephone interview with the pan-Arab Al Hayat newspaper that "sleeper cells" in all 12 Palestinian refugee camps and elsewhere in Lebanon were awaiting word for a "violent response."He claimed that Fatah al-Islam is "capable of transferring the battle to any spot in Lebanon."
"We can easily do that," he told Al Hayat by telephone from Nahr al-Bared.
He said Fatah al-Islam can launch a guerrilla war "which no army can defeat."
Abi Hureira said Fatah al-Islam members were "highly qualified" warriors with fighting experience outside Lebanon," adding that he himself enjoys a 21-year combating experience in various countries.
He emphasized that his group has no intentions to attack peacekeepers of the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon "as long as they do not hit us."
Abi Hureira said between 600 to 700 Fatah al-Islam militants were spread across Lebanon's Palestinian refugee camps, not just in Nahr al-Bared as believed by the Lebanese authorities.
"They are (in a state) of maximum alert," he said.

If it is possible in Lebanon, why is it not possible wherever there are large numbers of Muslims? Why not France? Why not Great Britain? Why not...the United States?
The enormous expense of police work, of additional security everywhere, of the whole panoply of lawyers and judges subsequently involved, can do part of what is necesary.
But so can an attitude of unremitting suspicion and hostility, not naive accommodation in the hope of "winning hearts and minds" of Muslims who have foolishly been allowed to settle deep within the Lands of the Infidels behind what Muslims themselves are taught to regard as enemy lines.
And finally, it must be clear that Muslims in the West will suffer -- not individually, not as a matter of picking up this or that suspect, but collectively, as enemies always suffer collectively in wartime (see the bombed cities of Germany and Japan during World War II). What is currently the main brake on Muslim behavior in the United States is not some utterly phony "greater integration" than in the countries of Western Europe, but much greater constraints, and also a keener awareness of the much greater hostility on the part of the non-Muslim population. This itself -- this awareness that Muslims have a great deal to lose if there are further acts of violence -- is the main thing that will constrain not all, but a great many. And that is exactly what one wishes to achieve: constraint on Muslim behavior, given that the texts of Islam, the tenets of Islam, the attitudes and atmospherics that naturally arise from those texts and tenets, cannot be changed.

Maybe I'm naive but I don't believe this ragtag Fatah-al-Islam bunch can take their war all over Lebanon. It sounds like they got a couple hundred guys well-armed. Their "800 to 900" fighters in pre-planned attack formations sounds like the 7 million Moslems in the US - disinformation, as usual.

Yeah, I am really hostile, and I don't care who knows about it. When I think about how Muslims come into my country and expect me to buy into their belief system and they tell me they will force me to accept their way of doing things, or else, my question is, who do they think they are? And who do they think I am to just to take it? I find their demands and whining to be not only pathetic but tediously tiresome. I already raised two year olds and teenagers and if these people think that those of us in America who enjoy the freedoms guaranteed by our forefathers, especially we women who have our own businesses and are the heads of our families, are going to throw it all aside to become second class citizens, they've got another thing coming. Some things are worth dying for, like freedom, and my country, the way it is, sans the PC doublespeak of those who would use our laws against us to destroy our laws and our way of life. If they think I'm cranky from all the whining just wait and see what we girls will come up with if they ever try to burqa-ize us in America. If there is no fury like a woman scorned, check out the nuclear anger that will happen if Muslims ever succeed in changing one law that takes away one right as an American citizen that I have enjoyed my entire life.

Being called a crusader is fine with me. If we can ever summon the kind of fighting spirit shown by the original crusaders, we can deal the Islamic world a blow that will make what we did to Japan and Germany in WWII look like a slap on the wrist.
My dad is in his 70s and he is cutting back on his gardening. He only planted two dozen pepper plants this spring. I mention this because when my dad was growing up during the Depression his mom, an Italian immigrant, sent him to school with sandwiches made with fried peppers and only fried peppers. My dad has told me how he and his siblings were teased mercilessly by the Anglos for this un-American fare. I guess they don't teach Western Civ in Lahore but you'd think she would have picked up a couple of history lessons here at JW. Isabella of Spain, just a little old girl in the world, kicked out the big, strong, ruthless Mohammadans, ancestors to our present day pests. And just like Muslims think that whatever land they once occupied is theirs, we Crusaders think that any country Muslims inhabit now is ours to kick them out of.
One thing she's right about, although I doubt she understands the ramifications, is that there will always be resisters to Islam. There would have to be if there is any logic in the world. And from a religious point of view Christians know that Satan was vanquished when Christ rose from the dead, so Allah has already been defeated. Think of all the mess, with flowing blood and body parts all about, that we could avoid having to clean up if Muslims would just wake up and smell the coffee.
