The agent blew his siren, making it clear that this was a law-enforcement vehicle, but it seems to have done little good. An update on this story.
"FBI: agent was investigating vehicle when confronted by student," from the Bakersfield Californian, with thanks to Cindy:
An FBI agent confronted by a Muslim student at the University of California, Irvine, earlier this month was trying to get a closer look at a "suspicious" truck at the time, federal authorities said Sunday. The agent had followed the truck to the campus from a separate location as part of an investigation that was unrelated to the school or student activities, bureau spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

The FBI's response comes after a Muslim student said an agent bumped him with his car near the site of an anti-Israel protest on May 14.
Yasser Ahmed, 21, said he noticed he was being followed by a car with blackened windows as he drove a 24-foot moving van on campus to pick up an exhibit, sponsored by the Muslim Student Union, that protested Israel policies in Palestine.
After he got out of the truck and asked the driver to identify himself, he claimed the driver then revved the engine and began pushing Ahmed back with the front bumper before driving off.

The FBI said the incident occurrent on a dead-end street after a group of people surrounded the car of one agent.
"The agent blew his siren and used the cars PA system to warn" the group, the bureau said in a statement. "At that point, it was clear that this was a law enforcement vehicle. At least one person threw or placed a cinder block under the law enforcement vehicle."
Blew the siren? Did this forget he was armed?
Off-campus activity of Muslim student linked to on-campus activity of large Muslim, anti-Israel protest with 24-foot truck? Add, agitated Muslims blocking federal vechicle id'd to them following confrontation with driver.
After VA Tech, we can expect more of this kind of fed involvement, because campus police are simply not equipped to deal with the growing problem of militant individuals or groups who might also possess weapons.
what happened to the real FBI? take no prisoners FBI, you should of got out of your car and if attacked by the mo, just shoot to kill. again where are the real men who use to be FBI?
The FBI don't shot to kill as the first option.
Some one needs too counter protest the 'wall protest'. The West bank wall has saved many lives. Darfur wishes thay had a wall.
Ruebacca, l said if attacked you have the right to save yourself if you feel threatened, so shooting to kill is common sense when attacked.
Heck, in Paris the cops won't dare confront the muslims; so why should the FBI be expected to confront them either?
Now, if this had been an real American citizen who confronted the agent, rather than say possibly an illegal alien the agent may have thought in this case, then by all means -- blow the SOB to pieces and ask questions latter.
In that case, you won't have to worry about "offending" gazillions, and gazillions, of angry muslims all over the world; you'd only have one dead white male.
Who in the media or the justice department would care about that anyway?
you have the right to save yourself if you feel threatened, so shooting to kill is common sense when attacked.

There's just one problem. Police aren't allowed to exercise "undue force". The mob will produce a hundred witnesses who will say no one threatened the man's life and the agent will be the one to land in prison.
Just look at the Israeli army. They can't kill people who are "armed with nothing but stones" without drawing international condemnation.
Border agents end up in jail if they shoot drug smugglers.
The world is turned upside down. We have entered the looking glass.
Zena, you are referring to the real world, which disappeared long ago.
Everyone must remember that the FBI and our other law enforcement and intelligence agencies are desperate to recruit and hire Middle Eastern, i.e., Muslim men and women to work for them. Because a Christian Arab can't help them understand Muslim Arabs - right? And the ignorance within these agencies is pathetic these many years after 911 - you mean, you can be an Arab and a Christian?? Oh, you don't wear a headscarf 'cause you're not a Muslim? Whoodda thunk that?
The story is telling. Muslims in Europe long ago showed they are willing to confront the forces of order, to disobey them, to vandalize, to threaten, to beat to death Infidels who happen to be around (two Frenchmen were so murdered), to kidnap and torture an Infidel (Mr. Halimi), to do whatever it is they wish to do. They are not intimidated. The people in the story above were clearly not intimidated. They were perfectly willing to attempt to harm this FBI agent, who had identified himself, and who, furthermore, had done nothing at all except conduct some surveillance.
This is a test case. The test is of the FBI, and of Congress, and of the federal government. We are waiting.
So, really......what was in the truck?
There was a protecting muslim reception group for this truck. What? muslims wouldn't lie and make a riot out of a mole hill to cover up what was really in the truck and let the contents get away?
You bet the driver of the truck knows he is being observed now.
P.S. When did the Feds lose their authority to muslims on U.S. soil?
I agree, the Muslims are testing the waters...testing....testing...anyone listening...
Doesn't the FBI understand the concept of "back up"?
(And I don't mean his vehicle.)
If i am not mistaken the original article said nothing about a moving van but just mentioned a truck. In my mind i invisioned a pick up truck.
A moving van is a whole different suspicious vehicle or "truck".
I can imagine the agents car being surrounded,we see pictures of this type of mob all day long.
The only worry now is the profiling, racist rant headed by cair that will be meant to keep law enforcement out of universities.
Par for the course.
Bumper-bumping, siren blasts--this sounds like a Keystone Cops scenario, that is bumbling law enforcement, replete with pratfalls.
UC Irvine is held hostage by Islamics--the trash from what the Moslems call "the West Bank," has blown here like so much garbage.
Letting more "Palestinians" into this country will make it more of a garbage heap than it already is.
Come to think of it, letting any Islamics in will add to the stench. Decaying moral fabric stinks.
PC has infested the FBI, too...nuf sed.
But that aside, the peoplez republik of kalifornia isn't FBI-friendly, so they have to tread lightly.
It made it easy for islamists to pull this setup.
They do it all the time, so this isn't exactly new to the scene out here.
They do such thing with impunity in lalaland & sanfranpsycho, but one won't see this OUTside those two metro areas (one major reason the locals here have a hard time feeling any sympathy for those two cesspools if something happens to them, especially since they consider us traditionalists to be scourges on the planet needing extermination).
If islamists tried that gig in the big valley here they'd get their @$$es kicked by the locals...oh, yeah, forgot...they DID try it...and got their @$$es kicked in a major beatdown.
PC is the 5th column here.
It was a probe. And a successful one.
The next one will go a little further.
Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Southern California chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations in Anaheim, said his organization had been in discussions with the FBI for the last few days.
"Some parents are asking, again, 'What's the FBI doing on campus?' They're also challenging my credibility," said Ayloush, who arranged last year's meeting with Tidwell. "The parents are reminding me that Tidwell said the FBI doesn't monitor students, and they're demanding answers from me."
Challenging his credibility? What the hell took so long? He works for CAIR. He has no credibility.
When they put a cinder block or throwed it under the vehicle...I would have arrested him for tryin to damage state/county property.
If they surround my car like that..I would have bought charges for "intent to do bodily harm".
Unfortuately, in the peoplez republik of kalifornia, that's not damage to anything-it's called "freedom of speech, and the politically correct attack dogs in office out here back them up.
