Infidels might never have learned about, and thwarted, this Fort Dix plot, had it not been for that alert video store clerk. For these jihadists, with the pizza joint, and one with the “Elvis” nickname, were nothing out of the ordinary. They were the kind of people you see in America every day.
In Soviet days, the KGB had entire camps given over to recreate Western countries -- a little England, a little America. There the spies-in-training could learn everything from slang, both current and slightly demode, and the history of the comic strips. You had to know something about Rex Morgan, M.D., and Pogo, and Li'l Abner, if you were going to fit in, as well as about radio shows ("Taint funny, McGee"). Oh, it was very useful.
Muslims in the Lands of the Infidels, behind what they are taught to regard as enemy lines, as land still possessed by that Infidel enemy (the fact that some Muslims do not believe this, or do not act on it, is no consolation, for many do, and even the children of the unobservant or uncaring Muslim immigrant may, at some later date, metamorphose into the full-fledged Believer that their parents would hardly welcome), do not need those KGB camps. They are already immersed in American culture. But it did not keep “Elvis” and his friends from plotting to kill as many American soldiers as possible.
The thwarted plot should be treated "AS IF." For it was only a gross mistake by one of these would-be eager Muslim murderers -- trying to have a copy of a videotape made into a DVD (a tape that showed them at their training and shooting and Allahu-Akbaring) -- that allowed them to be seized in time.
And so we all read about it, as we read about another dozen, or hundred, or two hundred similar plots, some more ambitious, some less so, some the work of groups, some the work of individuals, all of them Muslims intent on killing -- putting explosives at a Strasbourg Christmas Fair, or on the Paris Metro, or poisoning the water supply in Milan, or killing Americans and French and Englishmen and Germans and Italians and Spanish and Danes and Dutch and so many others, in a thousand different places and ways.
And because, so far, most of these plots have been thwarted in the United States, we don't react correctly. We react with interest, with anger, but not with boiling permanent fury. We don’t come to our elected officials with the kind of fury that would lead to our demands being met: demands for various anti-Jihad defensive measures, and for a campaign to make the Infidels of this country thoroughly apprised of what Islam, its doctrine and its practice over 1350 years, demonstrates about the fate of non-Muslims under Muslim rule, and about the centrality and instruments of Jihad.
So as you read this story, or tell this story to others, or discuss this story here and there, make sure you think of it AS IF it had been successful, as if these plotters had murdered a hundred American servicemen at Fort Dix, as if they had thrown bombs all over the place, and machine-gunned those servicemen, of every non-Muslim variety.
Think about this case "AS IF." Respond with the fury, never to be extinguished, that you would have felt, had that Muslim plot been successful.
For had that video transferral store clerk not been alert, it might well have succeeded. Don't forget that. There was no changing of Muslim minds, no repentance. It was an accident that prevented the massacre from occurring. Do not take it lightly, or react to it as anything but the result that those Muslim plotters so tirelessly worked for, so ardently desired.
Eventually, something will happen. Perhaps Muslims in the Middle East or in Europe will attack American tourists as they gaze in shop windows or look for a restaurant. Perhaps the tourists will be specifically American Jews. One does not know. But even if appeals to morality and common sense do not work with the authorities -- since Muslims have been working their way steadily into the political ranks of all the parties; it is startlingly noticeable if one consults the party lists -- then perhaps an argumentum ad pecuniam, an appeal to economic interests, might work. There is, of course, the increased cost of monitoring this population. And finally, as the situation inevitably worsens, talented people in the areas most threatened will be unwilling to put up with the growing Muslim presence: its pressures, its expense, its unpleasantness, and its dangers for all non-Muslims.
And those pressures, and expenses, and unpleasantness will only increase, as long as Infidels continue to avoid reacting AS IF plots such as the one in Fort Dix had been successful.
Hugh-
We judge a system (religion-ideology, people, nation, etc.) by the extremes it tolerates. Islam is judged by the extremes it tolerates. We will be judged by the extremes we tolerate.
On 9/11 just after the last tower fell, I was for invading all their countries, killing their leaders, and converting them to Christianity. When I think of 9/11, I still get white hot. I do not need any "AS IF" therapy.
If Muslims do not reform, then the mantra might be just like it was for the American Indian in the 19th century - "a good one is a ..."
Hugh,
Yes that is why these 2 videos are so important. They don't show what if but what was and what is to come if people don't wake up and act.

Yes they are hard to look at but I'm sure it was much harder to live.
"A good one is a..."! Ridiccledaccle!
We need to listen to those reared within Islam.
"We are our beliefs", it is said. Beliefs steer people in life. Some beliefs are harmless, some are the motive force for good, and yet others are delusional, misguided, and even outright dangerous. Every version of the belief called 'Islam' ranges from the delusional to the dangerous.
Islam is rooted in the primitive tribal mentality of “We against Them,” “We the righteous against the heathens,” “We the servants submissive of the Great Allah against the rebellious enemies of Allah.” Islam is a polarizer. Islam is an enemy-maker. To Islam, a non-Muslim is a combatant against Allah and he is fair game to be subjugated and killed.
When some billion and a half adhere to the
pathological belief of Islam and use it as their
marching order of life, the rest of humanity can
ignore the threat only at its own peril.

Fitzgerald: "React AS IF they had succeeded"
The in-exsusable must not be excused.
If we had reacted AS IF they had succeeded in 1993, the world might be a different place.
Instead it was out of sight, out of mind. The smoke dissipated and the two towers stood with no apparent damage. Few people saw the huge crater left behind by the truck bomb. We were told to shrug them off, we were better than that, etc.
People whose first instinct is "no harm, no foul" have a hard time reacting "as if" the harm was done, unless they themselves have felt the hurt.
It's not laziness. People are ready for battle when their children are threatened. People just can't accept that such evil can still exist unless it stares them in the face.
"People...have a hard time reacting "as if" the harm was done, unless they themselves have felt the hurt."

That comes from not cultivating their imaginations. And that failure to cultivate, in turn, often reflects deficiencies in education, including the failure to study literature which can strengthen the imagination's muscles, or to study the lively use of language, not merely to boringly "communicate" something but to inspire, warn, instruct. The simultaneous disappearance of history and geography as subjects of study -- that too is now being played out in failures of policy by those who presume to rule over us, those intent on "taking a leadership role." They don't know much. They don't know how to think. They don't know how to express themselves. They bore themselves, they bore us. They are full of hectic vacancy, whether in the government or in the think-tanks, or the consulting firms, or the strategy firms (for every possible campaign), or among the serried ranks of lobbyists and well-heeled foreign agents. Otherwise, they're just great.

Your Brain: Don't leave home without it.

This is absolutely the correct approach. After all, if somebody shoots someone else and misses, he'd still be tried for attempted murder: the fact that he was a bad marksman wouldn't be an alleviating factor.
In fact, there are 2 ways this could have been successful:
- Had the Circuit City employee not noticed, but simply gone ahead and made those copies;
- Had these plotters been more tech savvy about hooking up a camcorder to a PC, and not gone to Circuit City in the first place;
Incidentally, that brings me to another point. While the video will be in the possession of the authorities, the DVD that the CC employee was requested to make should be made, and shown widely over the media. In fact, it should be sold, and made the intellectual property of Circuit City, or maybe this alert employee. Let all people following this story see that video for themselves and see what might have been. That's a straightforward way of cultivating their imaginations - show them the way the plotters themselves planned!
When dealing with fanatics the only question is them or us.
I prefer us.
Arm yourselves and be prepared.

The original article is right on target, as is this comment. It has taken less than six years for us to collectively go back to sleep, thinking the problem of jihad either solved or unsolveable, when it is neither. The actual attacks and the attempted attacks come one after another, with barely a peep in response. Where is the identification of the motivation for these attackers? We're still struggling just to find clues to their identity in the media: is he a "Palestinian", Jordanian, Muslim, or just a "youth"?
Given full disclosure, given all the facts, there is no doubt that the Americans will make the right choice regarding Islam in America. But how long do we have to wait for that disclosure and those facts?
As you pointed out here and many previous times, the answer is not to invade several more countries and force them to convert to Christianity or to modern democracy; the answer is to educate ourselves about who and what we're facing, and to isolate and eradicate the danger from ourselves. We have to stop trying to "save" the Muslims from themselves, and instead focus on saving ourselves. We're the ones that need saving, not them.
Sorry guys but once again, nothing is going to change until muslim immigration into the USA and the West is reduced. Nothing. In the meantime, it's all just talk.
I've spent 40 years in Dearborn, Michigan in and around muslims. Have seen how the more recent immigrant arrivals are much more fundmentalist and radical than the ones who came here decades ago. It's simple arithmetic. The more muslims you allow to settle in an area, the more sharia law begins to creep into your community. The more segregation of the sexes; the more foot-washing sinks; the more rewriting of history so as not to offend muslims; the more observed Islamic holidays (every other week!); etc., yadda, yadda, yadda.
If you like these things then do nothing because they are coming to your hometown. If you don't want it to come, the only solution is to reduce their immigration.
