NEW YORK — A Florida doctor was convicted Monday of providing material support to terrorists by agreeing to treat injured Al Qaeda fighters so they could return to Iraq to battle Americans.Dr. Rafiq Abdus Sabir, 52, was convicted in Manhattan federal court after a three-week trial that featured testimony by him and Ali Soufan, an FBI agent who posed as an Al Qaeda recruiter in a sting operation that led to four arrests....
The charges against the Harlem-born Sabir, including conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, carry a potential maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
The verdict came after jurors heard audio tapes of a May 2005 ceremony in a Bronx apartment in which Sabir and his best friend, Tariq Shah, a martial arts expert and jazz musician, pledged loyalty to Al Qaeda and, the government alleged, Usama bin Laden....
Sabir, of Boca Raton, Fla., testified at trial that Shah never told him he was talking with an Al Qaeda recruiter. At the pledge ceremony, Soufan mispronounced Al Qaeda more than a dozen times, Sabir said. He also said he did not know "sheik Usama" meant bin Laden.
Sure. Sabir meant, uh, Al Kida, a fellow from the old neighborhood -- remember Al? And Sheikh Usama...Usama Smith! That's it! Yeah! Sheikh Usama Smith from Brooklyn, I mean, Biloxi!
(I really do know someone who hopes the government catches that "Al Quayda" guy, because Mr. Quayda is a very bad man -- but I'm glad the jury didn't buy this sort of thing from Sabir.)

The FBI was critized for being conviction focused and not protection focused after 9/11. It's good to see the FBI staying true to it's purpose and building solid cases against these people.

And . . . this one is a "Columbia University-trained physician" yet. Isn't he supposed to preserve lives not participate in taking them? I guess when you are Moslem, it doesn't count, the oath. For a Moslem nothing counts but loyalty to Islam.
Apparently the defense thought it was testifying before Keith Ellison Demomuslim in Congress or al Jazeera in coming up with the doc didn't know bin Laden was bin Laden.

It's the latter, but had we done so long ago, there would be a LOT of folks, both foreign and domestic (including elected officials), in prison, if not executed.
However, there is an advantage to current tactics.
Experience has shown that if we do rightfully go after them for treason, sedition, etc, we could only nail a few, if not just one...and their cohorts simply go into hiding underground, only to come out of the woodwork at a later date & time when they think the dust has settled (read that as people having short memories).
Letting them be more vocal has actually proven fruitful in a way...this manner, we KNOW who all of them are as they come out into the open (remember, we didn't know who ALL of them were back when, only some-and some of the worst hid in plain sight watching quietly, gauging our responses, and evaluiating how best to get past our defenses-it's how al-qaeda got through to 9/11)... the more they feel they can get away with it, the more vocal and aggressive they get, thus, eventually they screw up, crossing the line...and we got them hands down with no way out for them.
But we both know the drawback to that...it means letting them get to that stage first, running a grave risk of another hit on us before we can act.
(I don't like that either).
Good recon in the long run...but bad methodology.
It's a trade-off I don't think is worth the risk, but we're not just fighting them-we're also having to contend with their 5th column allies who run interference for them, thus, a 2-front war.

We absolutely can't. Muslims ahve a unique "cloaking" ability for which they are becoming notorius.
So, even if muslim immigration was stopped, another cloaker will spring up in our midst, for a hundred years to come.
The only defence is to consider them all jihadists. THEY have made it this way.

binds medics to treat the wounded to apply the science of medicine to every human person that is suffering, whatever his political or religious opinions may be, even if he is a murderer, a rapist or a terrorist.
The ordeal he will have to face to is from a judicial point of view, but certainly not from a medical point of view.

The good doctor is quite savvy. He was born a Catholic and converted to Islam before going to Columbia University for medical school. Some years he spent up to six months working in Saudi Arabia, presumably as a doctor, and spoke Arabic. He also knew enough to go to CAIR to get an attorney to represent him. His trial attorney had represented one of the four terorists convicted in the Kenyan embassy bombing in 1998. So his statements about not knowing what he was doing when he pledged his oath are plainly absurd and were understandably rejected by the jury.

This doctor isn’t flying solo or a one-off. Our nation and other Western democracies are peppered with these traitorous parasites. These parasites invade the host to seed, in this case, death and destruction and actively sponsoring terror. The blatant ignorance, of those whom minimise the role of this subversive lot is a major part of the problem. It is the dunderhead Democrats and the, “me too”, gadfly, pacifist Republicans, touting restraint and flower-child mantra leading the way to a catastrophic event which will dwarf 9/11.

There is a similar charge against the Houston Taliban group who gave money to go towards the families of jihadists. Two of them gave money to a hospital and were charged... the indictment said, "and providing approximately $350 in cash to support terrorist groups."
Another interesting issue, there is a site called faketerror that we are tracking on our blog (realterror.wordpress). They are raising money for the legal costs for the Houston Taliban group. Tehy have two options. One, send it to the "Adnan Mirza Legal Fund". OR, GIVE IT TO THE FAMILY DIRECTLY! hmmm now, why would anyone give money directly to the family? To end up in Pakistan for more material support?
