Israel's Turn To Support The Terrorists: Part Two

In my previous post (cross-posted here), Israel was named as a potential supplier of arms to the Fatah terrorists to aid them in their battle against Hamas. We now know why. "U.S. pressing Israel to bolster pro-Abbas forces in Gaza," by Aluf Benn for Haaretz:

The United States is pressing Israel to help bolster security forces in the Gaza Strip that are loyal to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

Major General Keith Dayton, the U.S. security coordinator, recently discussed the function of the pro-Abbas Presidential Guard and National Security forces with senior Israeli officials.

The Americans believe that strengthening Abbas loyalists and deploying them in friction points along the north of the strip and Philadelphi route in Rafah will eventually improve the security situation.

The defense establishment is undecided about helping to bolster the pro-Abbas forces and enabling Abbas to pay their wages. Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh is the main advocate for helping to strengthen the Abbas loyalists.

"The idea is to change the balance, which so far has leaned in Hamas' favor. Well-trained [pro-Abbas] forces could help tip the balance," Sneh told The Washington Post.

"We don't give them operative orders, that's Abbas' business," he added.

The head of the research division of Military Intelligence, Brigadier General Yossi Baidatz, on Friday told the diplomatic corps that the Hamas modus operandi in Gaza was identical to that developed by Hezbollah in South Lebanon. "Hamas is taking over Fatah and Abbas' properties and equipment that the international community is bringing into Gaza," he said in an intelligence briefing at the Dan Hotel.

The US continues to play a hypocritical game of fighting the war on terror while simultaneously supporting terrorists. It makes you wonder how deeply the State Department and the Bush administration have studied Fatah and the whole "Palestinian" situation in general -- and what their interests really are.

Wall it off & let the muslims do what they do best.

If the world gave them Israel entirely, not one thing would change with a mindset like muslims.

They are never thankful, could never develop an economy, they are only revengeful because the rest of us exist.

Any money put in is a total loss.

Never forget it.

I am not Jewish but I said don't go trusting us Americans that much. Our current leader is a puppet of his Arab overlords and what the Saudis and UAE want they get!

Thus Israel will get the screws applied to accept all sorts of stupid deals. Just wait and see!

Get ready for another visit from Condi...

Memo to Israel:

US doesn't get to tell you whom to support/finance. Once you get that, formulate your policies vis a vis Hamas or Fatah accordingly.

The Israelis should give Fatah nothing but slingshots.

In memory of Goliath.

Since their mentality is stone age.

for every missile that comes from Gaza, ten from Israel should return....

"It makes you wonder how deeply the State Department and the Bush administration have studied Fatah and the whole "Palestinian" situation in general -- and what their interests really are."

I don't know who posted the above, but your final comment (question?) is interesting. What I read here is that the main problem is not ignorance in the corridors of power, but "what their interests really are".

If political stupidity isn't the problem, what is?

Tell me again, how did Israel end up with Olmert? I don't blame the USA for this mess, this is Israel's own problem. Do they really fear Condi coming over there?, pouting and stamping her stilettos?

No, this is their problem. Olmert must go.

Flood the area with guns and keep the wall up.

Let them sort it out and let the sewage dams burst. No aid except guns. It will help them come to some kind of 'meaningful dialogue' with one another.

And then the weapons end up in the hands of the Hamas terrorists.
