Condi and the Europeans are not the only ones supporting terrorists. Add Israel to the list.
"Israel considers giving Fatah military support," by Carolynne Wheeler for the Telegraph:
Israel is considering giving military support to the moderate Palestinian faction Fatah in its power struggle with radical rival Hamas.Even though Fatah is closely connected to Palestinian militants with a long record of attacks against Israel, the Jewish state is coming round to embracing the movement as a more pragmatic bulwark against Hamas, which they believe receives military aid from Iran.
"We believe that time is working against the moderates," said a member of the Israeli cabinet yesterday.
The media continues to define Fatah as "moderate." The same Fatah that prepares "martyrs" for suicide attacks against Israel. The same Fatah that just recently approved the Independence Day rocket attack and attempted kidnapping.
Fatah is moderate in comparison to Hamas in that Fatah pretends to want peace and will not publicly state its goal to destroy Israel. Other than that, Fatah is a terrorist organization. Period. How Israel can be so short-sighted and plan to arm Fatah is astounding. The minute that the infighting in Gaza comes to any sort of break, each and every one of the Israeli sponsored guns will be pointed directly at …Israel.
Not a few military analysts have pointed out that the recent surge in the Gaza violence is nothing more than a ploy to evoke an Israeli response which will unite all Palestinian terror groups. That could very well be true. However Israel must take this opportunity to crush the enemy, not arm it. It is only a matter of time before a Lebanon style war breaks out in the Gaza Strip. The longer Israel waits the tougher it will be. During the time that Israel restrained itself by imposing a unilateral ceasefire, Hamas and Fatah took advantage of the relative quiet to rearm and dig in.
Fatah has no chance against Hamas. Fatah is a nominally secular group who relies on an indifferent West for support. Hamas is a fanatical Islamic cult who is backed by a very interested Syria, Iran, Hezbollah and al-Qaeda. Who wins that battle?
Israel continues its policy of appeasement; help Fatah beat Hamas and then we can make peace with Fatah. This argument is doubly wrong. Firstly, Fatah will not beat Hamas, and most of the weapons that Israel does supply to Fatah will wind up in Hamas’ hands. Secondly, even if Fatah would defeat Hamas, Fatah will in no way, shape or form make peace with Israel.
Olmert continues to stumble down the path of disaster. Unfortunately, at this pace, he is going to take a lot of people with him.
When is the West going to realize that there is no "tiny element of extremists?" The West cannot implement strategies to combat Islamic extremists unless it understands that Islamic extremism is widespread and conventional. It appears that the Jewish people of Israel are incapable of understanding that the Moslems around them are all insidiously evil towards them.
Of all places, PBS had a 1986 film on (The Impossible Spy) about a man named Eli Cohen last night. Cohen was a member of the Mossad who had infiltrated Syria. Some of the money he had seeded Syria with for cover was used to establish Fatah. Per the film, Cohen felt guilty over his role in establishing Fatah and returned on an ill-advised mission to Syria to monitor them. He was discovered and hanged.
Cohen highlights included mapping of the Golan Heights, naming Syrian pilots so that as the jets approached Israel during the six days war, the Mossad contacted the pilots over the radio and named their family members, threatening to kill them if the bombs were dropped. The bombs were dropped, into the sea.
Cohen left behind a wife and family.
In 2007, its just easier to shut them up by giving them guns and money. Shameful.

There are just 2 parties fighting, which ain't good enough. Israel should arm Islamic Jihad instead - why are they being left out? - and let them join in the fray. Just keep Israel well isolated from them all.
If Egypt is concerned about Hamas-Ikhwan, why don't they support Fatah instead?
Why not have a policy of creating safe havens in gaza for secular arabs, christian arabs, anyone who isn't muslim, and let people flood to it, even muslims who are prepared to leave their faith. Within a few years this would be a thriving community, and could start expanding, pushing the muslims aside as it does.
It would create a dilemma for the left and playtime peace makers, by criticising it, they'd be criticising arabs, how could they do that?
We, the people of Israel - as I hope you all know - are so disguisted with this so-called Prime Minister! And with all the Ministers and MK's whose jobs are more important to them than the people of Sderot!! Screw them!!
Looks like a good idea--arm the factions of your enemies--and let them go at each other instead of at you. Only these same weapons will be used against you.
Arming the jihadists in Communist, Soviet-occupied Afghanistan also seemed like a good idea to the CIA. Turned out to be a no-so-good idea after all.
Of course Israel is led by people with the same idiotic mindset as we are here in the US.

Check out the book "OUR MAN IN DAMASCUS".
Yeah give them rifles to fight each other with, just don't give them rockets.
Clue to Israel: Fatah does not like you either...
