An update on this story. "Militant 'Mickey Mouse' pulled off air," by Mohammed Daraghmeh for the Associated Press:
RAMALLAH, West Bank - Hamas militants have suspended a TV program that featured a Mickey Mouse lookalike urging Palestinian children to fight Israel and work for global Islamic domination, the Palestinian information minister said Wednesday.
Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said the character — a giant black-and-white rodent with a high-pitched voice — represented a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.
Translation: We're sorry we got caught.
He said that the program was pulled from Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV at his ministry's request and "placed under review."
The character, named "Farfour," or "butterfly," but unmistakably a copy of the Disney character, preached against the U.S. and Israel each Friday on the show called "Tomorrow's Pioneers."
"You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists," Farfour squeaked on a recent episode. "We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers."
Children called in to the show, many singing Hamas anthems about fighting Israel.
A spokeswoman for Burbank, Calif.-based Walt Disney Co. did not return phone calls seeking comment, and the Gaza TV station had no comment.
The program was opposed by the Palestinian Broadcasting Corp., which is controlled by the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a Hamas rival that shares power with the militants in the Palestinian government.
Barghouti is an independent aligned with neither Hamas nor Fatah.
Loyalists of Hamas, which is sworn to the destruction of Israel, launched the Al Aqsa satellite channel last year. Bearded young men read the news and Islamic music is layered over footage of masked militants firing rockets into Israel. The channel also broadcasts talk shows, programs about the disabled and cartoons.
I think more than copyright, reason this was pulled was it looked too American, and the irony of calling for the destruction of America wouldn't have been lost on these kids.
This group Hamas is what CAIR supports... I don't hear CAIR condemning their actions. On a positive note: CAIR did applaud the FBI for uncovering a plot against a U.S. military base. This could be a CAIR deception tactic.

What is really sad about this is this is not the first offensive children's show in the Arab world, but it took the appropriation of a Disney character to raise awareness, as though the character was more important than the children.
Well, I hardly think that Disney would have much luck going after Hamas for trademark infringement, though I'd be thinking the UN would want to step in because of hate speech and inciting people to violence.

Beck's radio show seems to attribute the ballyhoo over the translation which nixed his Headline News show's use of the video to Octavia Nasr at CNN. Here's Nasr in 2006:

If I remember correctly, Disney Corporation kowtowed to one of CAIR's demands to fire a radio announcer who criticized Islam. Someone please verify. Disney also glorified Islam through one of their movies Aladdin.

Are you thinking of Michael Graham, the (former) talk show host in DC? He was on an ABC affiliate (WMAL).
As for Aladdin, I never thought it glorified Islam despite the "By Allah! line. That outfit of Jasmine's is totally non-Shariah-approved -- definitely a candidate for the "haram" catagory. Disney did kowtow to pressure to change the words of one of the songs when the movie was released on video because some group complained it was insensitive to Arabs. (Something about "where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face," I believe.)

He speaks a fair amount of truth in general, but the liberalist CNN pressure, and the obligatory death threats from Islamists, are certainly affecting his self-professed ADD riddled brain, and not for the benefit of all things non-Islamic.
He is truly a specimen, a living scientific experiment, as he struggles with the learning curve of Islam. I will continue to watch him struggle. Struggle with the truth, truth in direct opposition to the obvious media obstacle that politically correct, global multiculturalism provides.
Robert's no-nosense, direct and simple approach to revealing Islam as it existed historically, and as is applied today, is a much faster vehicle to the truth, in my opinion.

I agree with you but I think that islam is the same as it was 1400 years back. Maybe they have new weapons, tools of destruction, but their attitude towards anything infidel has not changed one iota.
Before the Fast Jihadists of Hamas were in power and the Slow Jihadists of Fatah were still in control, the "Palestinian" television of the "Palestinian" Authority offred a "Children's Hour" in which darling-looking little children, led by a pretty young teacher, would sing songs such as one with a refrain about how "I Wish I Was A Suicide-Bomber" and so on. A child or two would be selected to sing the song to great applause.

Awake, give Glen Beck a whole lot of credit for his courage to at least not only be one of two conservitives, ( with Lou Dobbs as the other conservitive ) to work on CNN, which sadly is often at ( using in the ironic sense ) is at the beck and call of the Islamofacists in the Middle East. Glen Beck's show is the only show I will see on CNN and would often go back and forth between his show and the news shows on Foxnews. Also got to remember that he must go easy learning about Islam and presenting it not only because for his and his family's safety as well as being able to still have a J-O-B at CNN, but there is still a lot for him to learn about Islam.
Give Robert Spencer a lot of credit more for his in-depth coverage about Islam and Islamofacism, in both history and at the present time. This website pioneer in this full presentation on Islam way before the radio and tv talkshow hosts even mentioned a word. Even when he gets the every now and then threats, he still stands up to the truth.

I thought my post was clear. The problem I had with Beck last night was simple. Brigitte Gabriel was quoting from the Qur'an, first in Arabic and then translated to English, to relay exactly where the the source of gender discrimination in Islam came from. Glenn tried to undermine her quoting from the Qur'an.
It is no different than the priest in Oz, who was accused of a hate crime by simply reciting the Qur'an. She was making a valid point, the point of contention that Islamic apologists attempt to use all the time...you don't speak Arabic, therefore you can't understand the Qur'an"...Well Brigitte speaks Arabic.
Beck is solid on most points, but his flip-flopping on Islam is problematic.
I have yet to see Disney make a formal statement other than their "no comment".
The link that people pass around with Disney condemning it is NOT from the people who run Disney now. That is one of the family that condemned it...big difference.
