An update on this story. Islamic Tolerance Alert: "Man Halts Action against Compulsory Arabic Names following Threats," from NIS News, with thanks to Fjordman:
HAARLEM, 30/05/07 - A Moroccan man who was opposing the Moroccan state intervention with the names given to children born in the Netherlands has halted his campaign. The many threats he received were too much for him, newspaper De Volkskrant reported yesterday. In registering a newly-born baby, Moroccan parents have a list stuck under their nose by Dutch municipalities out of which they have to choose a name. This official list distributed by the Moroccan government contains only Arabic names. This is discriminatory and violates freedom of choice, according to Moussa Aynan. Dutch municipalities are thereby an outpost of the Moroccan government, De Volkskrant quoted him as saying.
The 34 year old Aynan, who has just become a father himself, is a Labour (PvdA) council member in Haarlem. Hundreds of angry and threatening reactions have reportedly come in on his website in the past weeks from the Netherlands and abroad. So many that he has now decided to remove his weblog from the air. "It became too much, my wife particularly became afraid," said Aynan in the newspaper.
Islam controls every aspect of your life, even the name of your child....
Islam is for slaves....
Slavemasters name the slaves...
Theo Van Al-Gogh should be a popular name among the Muslim kids born in The Netherlands.
A little bit of the old, a little bit of the new.
W T F ?
I imagined this, right?
I hope that we have some Dutch posters who can explain this better. Is this really true?? If Mr. Aynan and his wife wanted to name their baby Hans or Gunther, they couldn't, but would have to name him Omar, or Faisal or Ibrahim? What about native Dutch parents? What if they preferred a French-sounding name for their new daughter rather than a traditional Dutch name? Are they restricted too, or is that rule just for Muslim parents? If so, Holland is enforcing apostasy laws for Islamic governments...If everyone is given a list of approved baby names, Holland must be as bad as North Korea and China in the limitations that they place on a basic freedom, like parents choosing a name for their child. Please, someone, explain.
It makes perfect sense: Islam names your child, you raise Islams child, and then you rejoice in Islamic glee as your child dies while participating in an attack on infidels wearing an Islamic suicide belt...
Islam is total control of the individual....
Ban Muslim Immigration....
Morocan Naming List (10 Choices!)
1. Mohammad
2. Muhammad
3. Muhamad
5. Mahomet
7. Mahmud
6. Mohammed
9. Muhammed
10. Mohamed
the religion of peace strikes again!
I'm guessing none of the threats came from non-muslims
*I hope that we have some Dutch posters who can explain this better. Is this really true?? Please, someone, explain.*
I'm afraid it's a true story. I watched the brave Moroccan/Dutch man telling this story on Dutch TV yesterday. The rule is just for Morrocon people with both a Dutch and a Morrocon passport. Indeed the Dutch municipalities are an outpost of the Moroccan government in this matter.
Guess which name is the most popular name for a boy in the Netherlands?
'Sticks and stones
May break my bones
But names will never hurt me...'
Never realised Dutch authorities would do such a thing-is this man a Dutch Citizen?? Have a friend
who lived in the Netherlands-she gave her child
a Bosnian name without any trouble.
Am sure there are Dutch JWatchers who can tell us
what is happening re:names in 2007.
In Holland it is possible to have two passports. One Dutch and one from the country your parents are from. In order to obtain a Marrocan passports, the child has to have a Islamic name. This is the list talked about, only if you give your child a name from the list, will he/she also get a Marrocan passport. Only parents from Marrocan decent will get this list.
Still.....with all the problems currently going on in the Dutch parlement about representatives of the Dutch people having double passports (and therefore double loyalties) and even one working for the Marrocan king as adviser, I think The Netherlands will be importing more and more muslims and will be Islamic really soon. I left my country, Holland.......there is no such thing anymore. Sad, but true. The Dutch are Dhimmies already, eventhough muslims are not even the majority YET.
Dual-citizenship = recipe for schizophrenia.
Good luck to all who try it.
A house divided against itself...
No man can serve two masters...
Et al.
Yankedoodle2 has it about right...My name is Mohammad, this is my brother Mohammad, and this is my other brother Mohammad.
Why doesnt he renounce his Morrocan side of his citizenship? Would that solve the situation?
Welcome to the Hotel Islamicfication, you can check in anytime you want but you can never leave.
Thanks to the Dutch posters who clarified the situation. I have to wonder why Mr. Aynan and wife don't hand in their Moroccan passports and become full-fledged Dutch citizens. As Muslims, they may have trouble with clear thinking, even as they try to rebel against the oppressive Islamic system.
I was shocked to read this in the newspaper. This is truly a sign of Islamic imperialism. Shame on them!
I wasnt shocked. Nothing in Islam shocks me anymore.
Some added information:
The Moroccan Constitution states that it is not possible for a Moroccan citizen to give up his Moroccan nationality. That's why every new generation of children of Moroccan descent will be Moroccans themselves, even if they live abroad and may never visit Morocco.
So there is no way for this poor man to shed this unwelcome legacy. I'm sure he would give it up if he could.
He can shed this bs if he really wants to. Of course it would depend on the Netherlands backing the guy up.

Unfortunately, not only will the politically correct dhimmi fools who run the government in the Netherlands NOT back him up, they also cannot prevent his MURDER at the hands of other musulmen. And so, the slow-motion demographic jihad gains yet another victory. Allahu akhbar!
Greetings:
There are a couple of interesting articles on the Center for Immigration Studies' website about "dual citizenship". They are written by Stanley Renshon.
Apparently, a lot of people missed the "no man can serve two masters" story.
This is the SECOND PvdA member to cause a stir...
Anyone recall Ayaan Hirsi Ali? As an analyst for PvdA, she ran into conflict with the party leaders over security resulting from death threats. This led her to run for Parliament as part of the VVD, which is much more Conservative.
Of course, as soon as she & Van Gogh released "Submission" her troubles (with primarily Moroccan Dutch, no less) really began. After Van Gogh's murder, she was forced to sleep with security in her living room or just outside her hotel room, then would be whisked away to undisclosed locations at the first sign of drive-bys (I read her book...).
I cannot begin to comprehend the fear some would experience at all this, especially when the party or authorities don't work with you.
I understand others' fear of death keeps them silent...but I'd still keep my mouth going, because my fear of death is GONE.
If the Moroccan does not like living in the Netherlands , he has 50 islamic countries to choose from and move to.
Netherlands is not a free country. If you can't chosie the name of your kid, then you are not in a free country.
Thank god for the 'bill of rights'.

Try this one... named 'One Cannot Serve Two Masters'.

12. Mo-ham plez!
* It might not be a bad idea to allow this Moroccan bullying to go on:
Sooner or later the Dutch citizenship of these invaders will have to be removed. If they keep their Muhammadan identity they're much easier to spot...
Interestingly, this reasoning may provide sane, survivalist Dutch citizenry the necessary loophole for deporting unwanted immigrants along with their muslim progeny to (their intentionally) documented countries of origin.
(Benes decree redux) . . .as stated by DW's VP -

Hugh Fitzgerald from Jihad Watch recommends the containment option
AND
Fitzgerald: What is the cost?
au contraire - The shedding of said 'unwelcome legacy' must involve shedding the entire legacy - they must completely shed submission to islam.
As stated by sheik yer mami, this dual citizenship makes it so much easier to identify and deport those who follow a belief system which wants to replace Western societies with Sharia states.
There is something that the Dutch government CAN do, and that is to abolish dual citizenship.
If Moroccans can't give up Moroccan citizenship, then without the dual citizenship of The Netherlands, they will no longer be legal citizens of Holland.
To fight the Islamification of Europe, getting rid of dual citizenship will be a good thing to aim for.
Another thing: what are the penalties for naming Moroccan children with non-Arabic, Dutch names?
Does the Dutch government send them to jail?
Voltaire-
They are sentenced to live in Madurodam.
(A search will explain it.)
Back in the 1960's, Indonesia was experiencing bloody racial strife between the native Indonesians and those of Chinese descent -- who happened to be dominant in the business and commercial sectors. The use of Chinese names was banned, and over time it became more difficult to distinguish between Indonesians and Chinese. The racial strife subsided.
Yes, names ARE important. Unfortunately, many names (in all cultures) telegraph religious affiliation. Examples: Mary, Jesus, Rachael, Isaiah. People in the West even call their first name their "Christian name." Still, people should be free to pick a neutral name like Heather or Larry if they want.
