The afflictions and sorrows of life were replaced by the promise of abundant of life. The imagined imperfections of Christ a breaker of the Mosaic laws and Covenant were really the greater perfection of the Mediator of the New Covenant. There were in obedience to the authority of the Father.

Increased attention to, and greater understanding of, Islam should do several things.
First, it will allow the Western public, or at least those in positions of power and influence, to come to understand why all the enormous time and effort put into "negotiations" leading to "treaties" between Israel and this or that Arab state or entity, as part of a soi-disant "peace process," are in the end futile, whether they lead to a document and a ceremony in the Rose Garden and smiles and handshakes all around, or do not.
The basis for Muslim treaty-making with Infidel lands is not, as in the Western world, the principle of "pacta sunt servanda" (see Lauterpacht, see Julius Stone, see Visscher, see Hugo de Groot, see anyone you want), that is that "treaties are to be obeyed" (a principle that may seem to be obvious, but was in fact a political and moral advance). In Islam, howeever, treaties are to be made, and obeyed, only as long as the Muslims are weak and need to make such treaties in order to buy time from the Infidels, and when they feel sufficiently strong, then they are not merely entitled to, but required to ignore any commitments made to the Infidels, and to go to war yet again. The model for this is the treaty of Al-Hudaibiyya, which Muslim made with the Meccans in 628 A.D.. It was to have lasted ten years (hence the "ten-year-but-renewable" rule for Muslim offers of a "hudna" or truce). It is the model for all subsequent Muslim-Infidel treaties. See, for example, the very clear explanation of this in Majid Khadduri's "War and Peace in the Law of Islam."
Yet successive American administrations, with their various "disengagements" and Rogers Plans, and Kissinger Plans, and richard-haases-and-dennis-rosses frequent-flying it hither and yon, and every other effort, has been based on ignorance of Islam -- studied ignorance, wilful ignorance, or possibly just plain ignorance, and an inability to think outside that famous, constraining, teeny-tiny box that is constructed out of assumptions and party-lines in official, dull-as-dishwater company-town Washington, where those who think what everyone else thinks, are suitably rewarded in their careers, and the others, those who can think, and begin to learn and understand things on their own, are not only not rewarded, but treated with suspicion.
The war against Israel is simply a local manifestation of the impulse, or duty, of Jihad. It is a Lesser Jihad. It remains today what it was in May, 1967, or in May, 1948, or for that matter in 1938 or 1929, or 1920. It is a war to prevent the Jews, the weakest and therefore most-despised of Infidels, from establishing, or once having established, from preserving against destruction, their own, Infidel state. The "Palestinian people" was a construct invented, and invested with meaning, after the Six-Day War. Before then, that phrase, that idea, simply did not exist in any of the tens of thousands of interventions made by Arab diplomats or leaders (check, for yourself, in the U.N. records). It was a phrase intended to disguise the Lesser Jihad against Israel, to make it into something it is not, and never was: a supposed quest for "legitimate rights" (who could object to "legitimate" rights?) of the "Palestinian people," a phrase disseminated by the Arabs with careful art, and picked up, with careless negligence by the Western powers, and of course, by Israel itself, and its mediocre because inattentive and casual leaders, making the enemy's case and never making their own overwhelming case. They had, they have, genius in reverse. But the people of Israel should not be made to suffer, any more than the people of France or Great Britain or the United States, should be made to suffer for the mediiocrity and ignorance of so many who still, currently, are in positions of power, and who in Europe permitted millions of Muslims to settle over the past few decades, and who in America have permitted the colossal mistake of Tarbaby Iraq to substitute for a coherent, well-thought-out, and cunning strategy of undoing not merely "terrorism" but all the instruments of Jihad.

This has priceless value. It means that right action sooner or later bring right results. With this, the promise of abundant life, is actualised. Always tell yourself the truth, and always do what is right, is the key.

i don't know, maybe i am way off base here, but it occurred to me some weeks ago that terrorism is linked to sharia law more than anything. terrorism is not linked to islam, necessarily, and that is where the confusion comes in because most muslims act very coy (innocent) about having anything to do with terrorism and that's true.
it is only when islam tries to establish the governmental structure of islam, that being sharia, that terrorism becomes necessary to the islamist.
sharia is what all terrorists fight for. is that not correct?
so, the west should not only be fighting against the main troubling symptom of sharia, terrorism,
but also against the sharia itself, because if we got rid of sharia and de-politicized islam, then we would automatically be getting rid of terrorism, would we not?
therefore, we should be going after what the terrorists themselves fight for, that being sharia. this would pre-empt terrorism and stop it at it's source, in the learned halls of sharia.

You've brought up an interesting point; since the "war on terror" is as meaningless as "war on gunfire", and the more accurate; "war on radical islam" or "islamofacism" is politically incorrect because it names a religion (which has protected status in the West) how about starting a campaign to describe the spread of militant Islam as the, "War on Sharia". This would compell one to learn what Sharia means, and would educate the uninformed masses to the specific culprit in this global war, but would not mention Islam by name, thus placating the left.

I am a member of that Covenant, and it enriches my life. The Covenant was more than 1300 years old when Jesus was born, and has never been superceded. Indeed, God's prophet Moses, said in the book of Deuteronomy to be the greatest of all of the prophets, warns us in that same book against anyone who advises us to change any part of the law. Even if one should perform miracles, we must shun that false prophet who urges us to alter the eternal Covenant.

I am a Christian (read Catholic) and whilst I disagree with some of what was written by MZ I do not believe that this outburst was necessary either.
Please tell me exactly where Moses warned against alterations. You see there is something illogical about your statement because the leaders around the time of Ezra introduced a whole lot if new "laws" that are no more the Law of Moses than the Sharia is the law of Moses. It is these precepts from which we have been freed. We have no need of restrictions upon the food we eat, or the manner in which we clean our utensils. We do not have to keep a kosher home. None of those things will get us into the Kingdom of Heaven. It was Jesus who said that it is not what goes into the mouth that makes us holy but it is what comes out. This includes an outburst that tells a well meaning Christian "F you".
There are ten commands that we share in common, and these alone are the laws of God. Everything else is something that has been added at a later time in order to keep a people who had a habit of straying into paganism on the straight and narrow. We all need to follow those ten commands. These laws are summed up as two laws: (1) Love God; and (2) Love your neighbour.
The killing that goes on between the Muslims and Jews, or Muslims and Christians, and whatever other group is not a part of the laws of God. All of these killings have another source - Satan.
Sharia law for this reason is a total joke because Sharia, and for that matter enslaves people rather than frees people from oppressive laws that mean we are constantly in sin. There is no way around the fact that the Judaic precepts and Sharia laws are so easily broken.
Christians remain bound to such commands as "thou shalt not kill", but we are not bound to have our sons circumcised because this is not necessary to belong to God's Kingdom under the New Covenant of God that was established in the blood of Jesus Christ.
At the Last Supper, Jesus said: "This is the blood of the New Covenant which has been poured out for you" (paraphrased). This is the New and Everlasting Covenant that has been established between God and all of mankind. All may share in the New Covenant of God's Grace and receive the reward of Eternal Life by abandoning the life of sin and turning to God.
Look then at the stark contrast offered by Mo (MHRIH), and what I personally see is a system of enslavement that encourages murder and mayhem. How can such a system come from God?

As the Pope I am only quoting. As I said I have a book written by a scholar and his works were used and are used in college's. I promised him I would publish his book as he died at age 94. He was a very loving man. It did not matter who you where he would still want to talk to you and know you. He was a very loving man. I did not mean to take it out of quote. For I was thinking about that for that is just a very small part I saw in his book. He explains it very well though. How Jesus studied from the Torah since a child and he matured into the living log and the Torah became a dying log. I guess you can accept it or not. It makes sence to me.
