"He doesn't have a gun, he doesn't have anything," Fatem Shnewer said of Mohamad Ibrahim Shnewer. He was targeted, she said, "because he's religious."
A day after prosecutors charged Shnewer and five others in connection with the alleged plot, Fatem Shnewer's defense of her son added to the still-evolving picture of a group that authorities say could be a model for homegrown terrorists.

And while investigators said the plot had no single leader, it was Shnewer, at 22 the youngest defendant, who figures most prominently in the FBI affidavit that outlines the investigation.

"My heart kills me," Fatem Shnewer said yesterday as she manned the register at Plaza Food Market, a tiny shop wedged in a Marlton Pike strip mall.
Mohamad is her only son, the eldest of six children and the only one born overseas. He still lives at home, in the room agents raided the other night.
"They took the computer, the Bible and bills," Fatem Shnewer said. "He did not have anything (illegal)."
A curious detail: "the Bible" suggests a Christian Bible, an odd thing to find in the possession of a religious Muslim. He could have been looking for talking points for da'wah, or for features at odds with the Qur'an to get angry about. Or, it might have been a Qur'an, sometimes defined for the uninitiated as "the Islamic bible."
Shnewer's father, who shares the same first name, works as a supervisor and drive at All-City Taxi in South Philadelphia. James Atalah, a consultant who was handling media inquires for the company, said the elder Shnewer was responsible, hardworking and very religious.
"We have never seen anything bad from this gentleman," Atalah said yesterday. "He treats the drivers good. He treats the customers good. This is really unbelievable."
The younger Shnewer began driving cabs for the company about three months ago.
John Zuheir Mazahreh, a fellow driver for All-City Cab, often waited for fares with Shnewer at Philadelphia International Airport. He said he was shocked to hear about the arrest.
"He never said anything bad about this country," Mazahreh said yesterday evening outside the South Philadelphia row house where he has lived for about six years. "I've never seen him mad. ...He was joking, always smiling, laughing."
The 'fact' that they are nice guys, represents the entire, essential, irredeemable point. They are behaving as they MUST, as their individual responsibilities (as they see them) dictate.

As for the Bible in his room - many Muslims think we do not know about the Koran, and so refer to the koran as their Bible. The Poconos, which was once just for lovers, is now for jihad-moon-lovers, as well. It has been reported in the media that many jihadis like to train in remote state parks and find they can go relatively undetected, except for the locals who notice their presence in grocery stores and gas stations. A pogrom started in Europe yesterday. A UN official is quoted as saying that "Kristallnacht is under way in Kosovo." Serbs are being murdered and their 800 year old churches are aflame. Hello crusader I dont totaly agree maybe I am just too optomistic but I have lived in Jersey my whole life minus alot of traveling and a stint in the army.I would never live elsewhere we are not as liberal as you think,I am a lifelong conservative and will breathe my last breath here. I know the liberals are the majority now but what would abandoning it do?It would make them stronger and by default the islomaniacs stronger.Yes there are a few areas where alot of followers of the death cult reside but I am watching them very closely and so are many others.

I got a little suspicious about the wreck of the gas truck cause Homeland Security had warned about this sort of thing.
Lo and behold, there was an identical wreck two days before in Houston, April 27, driver died, Ramp closed.
Then I really got curious, I found another one a month earlier in Knoxville March 29, and Tampa-St. Pete March 19. Ramps closed. Someone mentioned that the CA people could learn from the Detroit accident and the Philly accident that also closed ramps. I never did find those dates.
Boy, if gas trucks keep falling over we won't have any interstates left.
No wonder refinery inventories were down and prices were up. It keeps getting spilled all over interstate highways by sloppy drivers.
BTW when the park in Los Angles went up in flames the other day the first newscast mentioned a badly burned man who said he started it. No mention after that.
Now they have discovered it was an accident. As I am sure the Catalina fire will turn out to be.
Funny thing, CA has serious fire seasons almost yearly but this one seems to be going for the historically important sites.

Heard about the fire starter too, seams he wanted to save his dog from the pound went to the Hospital with burns or something then anothe story said it was a illegal in some camp?
Fire season is starting early in southern Ca. Over the years we have had many fires but they didn’t usually threaten communities. In the last decade we have seen that many of them do threaten communities. Coincidence? I don’t think so but don’t look for the fire authority to connect the dots they are screening any smokers they can find and that’s about it so unless you are dumb enough to set fire to yourself in the process it will probably go unsolved. Traditionally, the pyros here choose to start fires on days with Santa Ana conditions (a dry, sometimes hot and dusty, wind in southwestern California that blows westward through the canyons toward the coastal areas. Santa Ana’s are a seasonal phenomena, occurring mostly during fall, winter and spring, tending to peak in December) in dry open country with lots of grass and other fuel, for the thrill of watching it spread so quickly I always thought, but these days you never can tell. Lots of suspicious happenings, but all are turning out to be accidents. Hmmmm.
I've said this before - read 'Tipping Point' and 'Blink'. Look at the anti-racketeering laws, the recipe that pretty much broke 'the mob', and Giuliani's principle that those arrested for petty low-level crime often turn out to be also engaged in worse things (sort of like the classic tale of the guy who's booked for speeding and turns out to have a dead body in the boot). The bible says that he who is faithful in little will be faithful with much; seems that those who are faithless/ untrustworthy in the 'little' things will also often turn out to be untrustworthy in the big stuff. We HAVE to apply that same principle to fighting the jihadists. Think about it: if they're devout Muslims, the more 'religious' they are, the more they will consider that ALL OUR LAWS are so much jahiliyya, kaffir stuff, and should not apply to their lordly selves. That includes stuff like not running red lights, or not speeding. So: our law enforcers should be educated to get that 'red flag' if they catch the same - obviously Muslim - person running a red light or speeding or whatever, for the 3rd 4th 5th time...it's a pattern. A clear, recognisable pattern. Full force of the law - every time a Muslim is caught on 'little' infringements, come down like a ton of bricks (the only thing they respect anyway - darura).
And don't listen to sob stories! Our police - our humble, earnest Constable Plods and Sergeant Browns - need to be taught about the culture of falsehood, about taqiyya and kitman. If you have a friend or relative who is a policeman - give him a copy of 'The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades'.
