They want academics to "consider the moral implications of links with Israeli academic institutions," but they themselves never consider the moral implications of aiding and abetting the global jihad.
By Yaakov Lappin for Ynet News, with thanks to LGF and all who sent this in:
Britain's University and College Union (UCU), comprising of university academics, voted in favor of considering a boycott of Israeli academics and institutions at its conference in Bournemouth on Thursday evening. The resolution, passed by 158 votes in favor and 99 against, "notes that Israel's 40-year occupation has seriously damaged the fabric of Palestinian society through annexation, illegal settlement, collective punishment and restriction of movement... deplores the denial of educational rights for Palestinians by invasions, closures, checkpoints, curfews, and shootings and arrests of teachers, lecturers and students."...
Responding to the resolution, Professor Menachem Kellner, Professor of Jewish Thought at Haifa University, said: "I'm deeply disappointed by the failure of truth and justice at this vote."
"I don't think such a boycott will seriously impact Israeli academia, but I treat it with seriousness because it will affect Jewish organizations abroad," Kellner added.
"The people who organized this boycott are working for the forces of evil. They not working for Palestinians, they are working against Israel," Kellner declared, adding: "If there was something there that would actually help Palestinians, I would say they are honest but dumb. But this is just an attempt to defame and delegitimize Israel."
Yes.
It's not Israel that bothers them. It's those Jews refusing dhimmitude. That irks.
Obviously not old enough to remember WHY Jews have 'occupied' Israel for '40' years.
Jeez, they can't even get the number right. Is this why they're in Edumacation?
The main agent damaging the fabric of palestinian society is the palestinians themselves. Their endless whining, playing the victim and love of violence has caused more trouble for themselves than anything Israel could ever dream up. The palestinians are their own worst enemy.
Such is the state of British academia... ignorance and cowardice.
Time to boycott British academics. For one, this vote demonstrates a total lack of academic objectivity and fundamental disregard for justice and truth. I would bet with good odds who is holding the purse strings on this one.
""notes that Israel's 40-year occupation has seriously damaged the fabric of Palestinian society through annexation, illegal settlement, collective punishment and restriction of movement... "
....blah blah blah,,,,and how many times has Israel offered an olive branch to the Palistinians only to be violently refused by the likes of Arafat, Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah...etc...
The Muslim answer to Israels peace offering has always been violence and more violence...and often just plain outright war....initiated by the Palistinians...
THe Palistinians have no one to blame for their misery except themselves....
"The resolution, passed by 158 votes in favor and 99 against,"
....at least 99 show signs of having read history...the rest should be ashamed, humiliated, and fired...

To be fair, you have to compare the plight of palestinian education to the stirling success in the rest of the Muslim world. Rich countries like Saudi Arabia produce legions of sophisticated literate people, ready to march to a bright new future. That's why most Muslim countries lead the world in democracy, liberalism, and sexual and racial equality. Obviously something must be holding those peace loving Palestinian's back?
Oh no, my mistake, non of the above happened did it.
sorry for all the multiple posts: don't know what happened:((
Hope the link works now.

Let them join up with Cairo Univeristy instead.
They can assist in rewriting the "Suckling Fatwa" so that it meets their strict academic standards.
Or help Muslim scholars prove that Mohammad invented molecular biology, the heliocentric theory, vaccination and the seedless watermelon.
How dare they Jews defend themselves!
Of course, this begs the question; why would any serious Israeli researcher want to collaborate with such intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt British 'academics' in the first place?
In a manner of speaking, it is the members of the UCU union who do not support this boycott who only have themselves to blame for it going ahead.
The idea of a boycott was first mentioned at local Branch Meetings of the UCU, and from my own experience as a former Union officer (not UCU) these are not well attended at all. That is how the loonies from the Left were able to get the motion to boycott through, and to get their own nutjobs to the Conference to vote for it.
So, when this contemptible motion goes back to local level, it is up to the rank and file members to go along and get it thrown out. If they don't then it will be their apathy which will help it gain momentum.
If members of UNISON, the UK public services union do not wake up, the loonies in their union will also vote to boycott. UNISON is my union, and my last act before resigning in protest will be to vote against any form of boycott.
