U.K. police arrest four more suspects in 7/7 bombings

That just leaves about 3996 suspected jihadists now under surveillance. "London bomber's widow among new arrests over July 7 attacks," by Robin Millard for Agence France-Presse:

LONDON (AFP) - Anti-terror police arrested four more suspects Wednesday over the July 2005 suicide attacks in London, including the widow of one of the bombers who killed 52 people.
Police sources said Hasina Patel, 29, the widow of bombers' ringleader Mohammed Sidique Khan, was arrested by anti-terror police in an early morning raid at her home in Dewsbury.
Three men were likewise arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000.
Two of the men, aged 30 and 34, were arrested in the Leeds vicinity.
Five houses around the city were being searched: two in the Beeston suburb, two in Dewsbury and one in Batley.
The BBC named the 34-year-old as Khalid Khaliq from Tempest Road in Beeston -- the same street as Khan's fellow suicide bomber Shehzad Tanweer. Three of the four attackers had links to Beeston and Dewsbury.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at a student residence in Birmingham.
Detectives searched the address while a "full forensic search" was to be conducted at a house in another Birmingham suburb, West Midlands Police said.
Armed officers were not used in the arrests.
The investigation into the attacks seems to be gathering pace as three men last month became the first people to appear in court charged over the deadly blasts, which killed 52 innocent people and the bombers.
The suspects arrested Wednesday were taken to a central London police station for interviews in custody by officers from the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command.
"This was a pre-planned, intelligence-led operation," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
Since the attacks "detectives have continued to pursue many lines of inquiry both here in the UK and overseas," he added.
"This remains a painstaking investigation with a substantial amount of information being analysed and investigated.
"We are determined to follow the evidence wherever it takes us to identify any other person who may have been involved, in any way, in the terrorist attacks."

"Armed officers were not used in the arrests."

...I would certainly hope some were located close at hand....just in case....

What is the big deal?

Europe no longer has a death penalty so they will just be in prison for their natural lives soaking up tax dollars.

Again, why am I getting critics for this NATIONAL DAY OF ECONOMIC PROTEST on May, 15th?
It costs NOTHING to participate so just dont buy gas that day and fight islamic jihad for free, safely, and hit their wallets so they cant buy so many bullets to use against US troops and civilians.
Writing a congressman DOES NOT WORK, but not purchasing gas DOES EFFECT them and will cause a drop in prices people so do it and dont choose TO DO NOTHING!
Boycotts work and pointless marches and letters in this case are a waste of time.
That is what the oil companies want us to do is nothing and I am a fighter by nature so join in and tell all you know.
I will have occasional reminders posted until next Tuesday so help me in my "crusade" against robbing of the US consumer.

The wife of Mohammed Sidique Khan. Uh huh. What about his other wives, his father, mother, brothers, sisters, children, aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, or any 'youths' he may have led?

I agree Dane, his whole entire family should be removed from the country at the very least. I know they may not have known but i would rather be safe than sorry. Put our human rights first, for a change!!!

Hey four down, three thousand nine hundred and ninety six to go! At least it’s a start.

And after we thought that they all had detonated themselves, the boys in the back room are still picking up suspects a couple of years later. Good on em for behaving like terriers and chasing this scum down.

I particularly like the fact that Khan’s missus got the door breakers at dawn treatment because that woman must have known his politics and she said nothing.

But, according to many Muslims and their apologists, the more Muslims you arrest, the more insulted the entire Ummah becomes and it will then supply two new jihadists for each Muslim arrested, in outrage for their brothers being "profiled" by "racists" and"bigots" and "Islamophobes" who are "persecuting" Islam.

So, 4 arrested, 8 created.

Muzzy math.

Actually, they need to arrest and than deport more like 2.1 million more muslims and England can truly be safe and free as in the old days.

Try walking down a dark street now in most of England and you will get jumped by a Pakistani gang of 14 taking your wallet and rewarding you with a mass beating.

Yup, I agree with Hungarian Crusader.

England needs to re-instate the Death Penalty when it comes to horrific crimes like this.

And, I agree that the National Gas Boycott Day on March 15th is appropriate and costs us nothing.

Cheers,

Yeah, sustained by welfare while free; sustained by welfare while imprisoned. And still free to spread their ideological virus to other inmates as they like. some victory....

Mohammed Sidique Khan was born in the UK so was British in the legal sense of the word. Which country should his family be removed to?

In his farewell speech he referred to Muslims in the Middle East as "my people". Herein lies the problem. He was born and raised in the UK yet his allegiances were elsewhere. How do we identify those who appear to lead normal lives yet are privately hostile to the West? We cannot, yet we know what these human scumbags have in common - Islam.

The only effective security measure is to remove all Muslims from the UK. The right of the majority not to be at risk of being blown to bits on their way to work outweighs the human rights of a thankfully small minority. The logistics of such an exercise are difficult to contemplate, but we are at war and so must do what is necessary.

Furthermore, I resent the fact that my taxes are providing welfare payments to unemployed jihadists, and paying for round the clock surveillance by 20 MI5 agents of each terrorist in training. This money could be better spent on the provision of a comfortable retirement for our pensioners, some of whom defended our nation against an aggressor during WWII.

But of course in those days our leaders had balls.

I would not get too excited about this. The last time they pulled in the sister of a bomber - the guy who was supposed to blow up a bar in Israel - she got off.

The lawyers decided the court could not be told she had publicly declared her support for OBL and 9/11 to a class of British schoolkids. She was therefore able to go in the witness box and convince the jury that a recorded telephone call which seemed to be encouraging her brother to blow himself up was being misinterpreted.

Still the BBC Radio News at 9 o'clock said they were arrested in connection with “The terrorist mass murder in London”. I wonder this change of attitude is anything to do with their missing man in Gaza.

i wish everytime they caught a terrorist who was going to blow up himself and kill others, we could wipe out their entire family. this way they all could live together with uncle mo.

“Try walking down a dark street now in most of England and you will get jumped by a Pakistani gang of 14 taking your wallet and rewarding you with a mass beating”

MOST of England? Don’t want to minimize your main point (the possible criminality of a significant number of Muslims), but this is really way over the top. This type of criminality may be a problem in some Northern cities, but do you think it is a problem in, say, Worcester, Exeter, York or Norwich, to say nothing of Upton Snodsbury, Toller Porcorum and Wyre Piddle?

and "community" leaders were notified of the raids? why? because if they didn't there would be riots by the islamic youth.

on the one hand the UK is fighting in iraq and afganistan and the other the UK government is co-towing to islamic radical leaders within the UK whilst making mass arrests within the pakistani/islamic UK "communities".

its a schizophrenic and dangerous policy.

Totally OT, apologies.

Regarding the infamous jihadi palestinian Mickey Mouse spinoff ... has anyone asked the imam if mice are "clean" ?

And now, back to our regular programming.

Off topic, but the nazi-like vid 'Robert Spencer-crypto jew' on Youtube has been posted a second time , presumably because the first one has been flagged so much. This time it's under the name 'pamelastits' and is called 'Robert Spencer - undercover Jew', at:

Swimmer,

That's just crazy. Let's play the, "what if" game...

What if the family had disowned the little terrorist because they felt he was a danger to himself and others?

What if the family were Christians, and their little terrorist had converted to Islam?

What if the family were the ones who turned in their little terrorist?

I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get my point.

Cheers,

Hello, I'm new to this site as a posting contributor, so I thought I would chime in with my two cents. I tend to think that the civil liberties (e.g. ACLU, CAIR, etc.) will be made irrelevant in the event of another terrorist attack, one that is NOT thwarted that is. One of the authors in this article (http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MTA5MzQzOGQyZjUzOGVmNDcxMmJhZWE4MDUwNDJjMTM=) from the National Review Online noted that those who have decryed President Bush for hindering out personal liberties will now exclaim that the Bush did NOT do enough to prevent terrorism in this country. Nevertheless, will anyone give credence to a group like that ACLU that was more concerned with defending the rights of criminals/terrorists than it was the victims? I think not...

I meant civil liberties "organizations" in my previous post.

Hungarian Crusader--

The "don't buy gas on date X" email campaigns go around periodically. Here's some background:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/nogas.asp

I do wish there were more to it myself-- I did some looking around online because I found the idea very interesting-- but I agree with Snopes' observation that only a prolonged reduction in demand will make the oil companies take note.

It's kind of like the "teach a man to fish" saying... Don't buy gas on May 15 and you can stick it to the oil companies for a day; minimize your gas consumption across the board, and you can stick it to the oil companies (and OPEC, etc.) for a lifetime.

Minority of One,

Interesting question... I am not Muslim, but I have studied Islam. Here are my thoughts on this:

Al Maida 5:5 states:

" Today I have made permissible for you pure things and the food of those who were given the Book (Ahlul-Kitaab) is also Halal for you."

Conversely, it can be argued that impure things and the forbidden food of those who were given the Book [Jews and Christians] is also not Halal for Muslims.

Since mice are considered unclean in the Old Testament:

Leviticus 11:29 - "These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,"

So, it is possible that mice can also be considered unclean for a Muslim to eat...

It is a matter of interpretation...

Again, these are just my initial thoughts, and I welcome anyone else's opinion on this subject.

Cheers,

“Try walking down a dark street now in most of England and you will get jumped by a Pakistani gang of 14 taking your wallet and rewarding you with a mass beating”

Yes mate, that always cracks me up too. As you said, not to minimise the reality of our social situation, but these images some people paint of Britain as a post-apocalyptic wasteland, awash with Romero-esque creatures of nightmare, seem borne of either an overactive imagination or woeful ignorance. You decide which.

What you say regarding the situation being non-existent in many towns and cities further South, also holds for the majority of Northern towns and cities; Manchester, Oldham, Blackburn, Bolton, Leeds, Bradford....... These cities and towns are in a right state, some much worse than others.

Yet, you show me '14 Pakistanis' in Liverpool and I'll show you a bus that took a wrong turn heading for Manchester. We have 'Asians' here, a very small number, but they keep their heads very much down. Love us or hate us, but we Scousers have a powerful sense of identity and won't be told how to think, act or live and we don't appreciate people who have no desire to be one of 'us' coming here and upsetting the applecart. We're known as being rather abrupt about it, in fact.

Of course, getting back to the gist of your point, there are many more places that haven't been touched by this blight. It's just a shame that some of our commentors can't rationalise reality with their assumptions.

From the thread were comments were banned!

Collective Punishment! Cool!

Now this is a man in charge!

Spencer for President in 08!

Greatcomet

I second that!

Wishbone... if you don't like Romero-type post apocalyptic stories perhaps '28 Days Later' ?

Will it come to that?

“Try walking down a dark street now in most of England and you will get jumped by a Pakistani gang of 14 taking your wallet and rewarding you with a mass beating”

actually this is a true story. i was just returning home from a training weekend with some very hard people, SAS instructors and the honourable artillery company. needless to say it was bloody tough and i was lookng forward to getting to my local pub in harrow weald for a few pints. we passed through wembley and a gang of around 14 pakistani youths got on the train. you could feel the tension of the other commuters.

one of the youths approached me and said "time". i replied that i didnt have the time. he looked at the wrist watch on my arm and said "whats that then". i replied, "well if you ask me fu****g nicely then i may tell you the f*****g time". you know i was right up in his face and i didnt give a crap, especially as i knew i wouldve given this little idiot brain damage. oh and i had an army entrenchment tool handy in my back pack so i was really gung ho. well one of his mates came over, pulled him away and said lets go.

i just hope that this story makes you all realise that we are not under siege from these people and we can and will fight back.

A_Plague_on_Both_Houses-

I think you know I wasn't expressing my preference for film directors mate ;-)

The problem with some of our more imaginative posters, is that they paint this view in their representation of present day Britain. This is, in turns, either very amusing or very annoying.

Amusing to the point where we think these views are so out of whack it must be a joke. Annoying when you realise that some people actually believe it.

Shame to think that evolution was meant to be a step forward.

Leonthepigfarmer: I loved your story, man...the only that I would disagree with you on is your statement that "we are not under siege from these people"...

I know what you're trying to say, so this is definitely not an attack on you...but over here, too many people have been lulled into a false sense of security by the Left-leaning media (i.e NY Times, MSNBC, Wash. Post)...essentially, the John Edwards, Al Gores, and John Kerry's have stated the war on terror is either over or does not exist.

This is despite the fact that countless jihadist groups openly discuss killing infidels and creating a pan-global Islamic caliphate.

that's right, you're under siege but not beaten.

slightly ot, but hits the same point home in dealing with 'youths':

my former step-cousin, when he was around 18, stumbled upon a 'nifty' idea - to beat up on my uncle, who was on the backslide to 60 at the time.

the result?

my uncle, after beatin' the mother-lovin' crap outta the kid, drew himself up and said:

"serves you right for tryin' to beat up an old man."

When they are all under surveillance, will the next step be.....heightened surveillance?

addressing the oil thing:

normally i'd go into my standard diatribe about how these 'days without gas' only hurt small drillers, turnkey operators, and rig leasers, and how the large retailers aren't affected at all.

now? i'm going to offer up a better solution!

1. email/mail/phone the bush administration & demand he repeal the executive order signed by carter establishing drilling moratoria on the east & west coasts.

2. pressure your congressman to work with bush on this issue before he leaves office.

i'm actully serious...why do you think we're under the thumb of opec to begin with?

how do we know they're all under survellance yet???

d*** i key!!!!

surveillance. there.

Here's a link with a picture of the bride and groom Siddique Khan. Not too bad looking. But South Asian jewelry can make anyone look good.

"We are determined to follow the evidence wherever it takes us to identify any other person who may have been involved, in any way, in the terrorist attacks.

try the mosques and look for any pious muslim, equals potential terrorists.]]

to find islamist, follow the koran.

Watling - "Mohammed Sidique Khan was born in the UK so was British in the legal sense of the word. Which country should his family be removed to?"

Look up his heritage and send him there, or anywhere, i don't really care! I can't understand why people say they are british cos they were born here - they are not british, they are pakistani, indian, arab, etc british residents and will never be british, they don't even class themselves as british half the time!! All of them, every god damn muslim in the country should be removed, Islam should be banned, Sharia should be banned!! time to stop pussy footing around. How many more true brits must die before something is done???

Rant over!

""We are determined to follow the evidence wherever it takes us to identify any other person who may have been involved, in any way, in the terrorist attacks."

....as these types of investigations go, it is abundantly clear that it is no longer just a case of "Islam being hijacked by a 'few' extremist." It becomes abundantly clear that the Muslim violence across the globe is in fact a global Muslim crusade intent on world domination and the eradication of all Non Muslims...

I am sure the investigations will lead to many mosques, Islamic clerics, many countries, many individuals, and maybe even to some Islamic governments...

The web of Islamic terrorism is indeed a vast one...we learn more every day and every day we are becoming more successful....

We must continue to fight as if there is no tomorrow, failure to defeat the terrorists guarantees there will be no tomorrow. It is time we quit conceding to every niggling Muslim demand made.

we need to be saying "NO".

Conceding to any Muslim demand insures a new demand will be made tomorrow...

Just say NO!..
