Sure is quiet around here. This evening we upgraded to the latest edition of Movable Type, complete with all the latest features, most of which I know little or nothing about at this point, and although the upgrade appears to have gone swimmingly, comments don't seem to be back yet. The best minds of this generation (i.e., not mine) are working on this problem, so it shouldn't be long.
In the meantime, kick back, pop open a Carlsberg, enjoy the introductory post of my new Hot Air "Blogging the Qur'an" series, and be assured that as soon as possible, everything will be running smoothly, except of course for the global response to jihad and Islamic supremacism -- but, well, you can't have everything.
Great Blog @ HotAir. i look forward to refering it to every person i know who thinks that the Global Jihad against the West is an exageration, or just a Fringe movement , which is just about everyone i know. LOL!
Keep up the great work Robert.
Ah. It appears we are back.
Whew...for a minute there I thought I was in the dog house...agaim...
Movable Type is foreign to me as well, I have become a big fan of WordPress (hosted on our own server)
I like the hot air segments you do, and I hope the fatwa's and decapitation threats from the religion of peace don't stop you.
Keep it up Robert, when the morons at CAIR are mad at you, you are doing something right.
I opted for a vanilla soy latte.
Ah. Bliss. That there's blogging fuel.
I posted 'whew' before I read your 'intoductory post', on the Quran. That was good for the short space you used. Easy to read, explained a lot.
For anyone who does not have translations of the Quran handy, they can try this link, and book mark it for easy reference...

Unfortunately hotair and word press are closed for new users and comments.Nothing I have to say will be missed but others more intelligent may miss their chance to be heard.

Haha KAOSKTRL...You are either joking, or you have gone mad...dont sell yourself short.
Carlsberg? Make mine a Guinness!
What is Movable Type? Can we someday expect a real interface upgrade, say like CommunityServer.org, where topics can be created, revisited by late entrants, etc? That would also presumably free up the site owners from having to post contributed stuff, and simply focus on deleting off topic posts.
Other than that, I got quite a scare today - thought that I was banned for the first time - and couldn't think of any provocation that merited it.
Also, what is it about sites that lock out registration? What is it about that moronic Wordpress, which hotair depends on for registration? Why not use something like Typekey, instead of tossing the entire kitchen sink at the user who simply wants a username and blog?
Robert, will you be having the discussion in 2 places - hotair and jihadwatch, or will it just be at hotair?
I, too, am unable to register at Hot Air to post comments. I found Hot Air several months ago from a link here at Jihad Watch. I've been reading it everyday for months but I guess I just never seem to catch it when registration is open. You did make a point of saying that the dialogue could be through the comments on other sites and emails. SO.....
I'm interested in your opinion of a point that was made in the very first comment you received at Hot Air. It was the comparison of Germany/Nazis with followers of Islam. That argument annoys me because there is no comparison as far as I can see. But many people make it anyway.
Here's my problem with comparing "peaceful" Germans with Nazis: They weren't Nazis. Not all Germans were Nazis. But all Muslims are Muslims.
The other comparison that annoys me is the "not all Christians take the Bible as literal, so some Muslims probably don't take the Koran literally, either". Yes, all Muslims do. I wish I could have commented over at Hot Air on that point and told the poster to go to any of the most benign, pro-Islam websites and see it for themselves. Not only do all Muslims believe the Koran is the last, literal, true word of God, they all take great pride in that fact. All Muslims believe that. It's basic Islamic teaching. The Koran is the last, literal, true word of God and is the only holy scripture in history that has never been touched by the hand of man. This makes it perfect in every way and invalidates any other religious text.
Am I wrong about that? I don't understand how anyone can call themselves a Muslim who doesn't believe it.
I look forward to every Sunday. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
To Infidel Pride and others:
Registration is usually closed at Hot Air. When it is opened up, it's never for more than a few hours. It's the same at LGF. I happened to catch LGF open registration one day. But I've never timed it right at Hot Air even though I read it everyday.
I don't blame them one bit. Michelle Malkin doesn't even allow comments on her blog and do any of us need to guess why? Just go read Daily Kos. The moonbats would flood all these conservative sites if registration was open. I'm actually surprsed Mr. Spencer still allows it at Jihad Watch.
Sometimes Hot Air has open threads, but as far as registering to post comments? I've never caught it right. You can always do it at Digg. But I can't fathom Digg. Digg is too confusing for me.
Re Robert's 'blogging the Quran' - all I can say is, '...Brilliant!".
I will be advertising Robert's Quran blog around all my friends and acquaintance.
I will also be praying most fervently for his continued spiritual and physical safety, for I suspect that once word gets around there are certain persons who will not be happy at all, at all.
Spencer blogging the Quran is such a great idea, though if he continues to read every comment and respond to almost every question at Hot Air, that will be a Herculean task with some elements of risk, perhaps. To have to answer so quickly so many questions, some of them tricky and difficult, could open even the best experts to making errors, and those will be errors that are recorded.
If I had my druthers, I might request Spencer to go through the suras in the chronological order Muslims believe in, instead of going in order from longer to shorter as bound up in the book. Chronological order might make the underlying story of Muhammad and Islam clearer. But no doubt there are advantages to teaching the book long to short sura as well.
However you cut it, it's gonna be something to get an ongoing class in the whole Quran from Spencer. Wow!
LurKKKer,
Are you a member of the Klu Klux Klan? If not, you might consider re-registering under a new name, because the name "LurKKKer" will give a lot of people the impression that you're into hanging people who have dark skin.
Some Muslims want people to think this site is concerned with race. Your nickname, perhaps unintentionally, will help those Muslims to support the false claim that this site is concerned with race. But this site is concerned to oppose an ideology, the ideology of Islamic supremacism and jihad.
Traeh says:
"LurKKKer,

I second the motion.
Any chance that the new software allows for listing commentors' names at the top of their particular comments vice at the bottom? That way - one can quickly get to and read the more useful comments and ignore those (especially) of the various "trolls" who regularly disrupt the threads with blather and bluster.
Here is my own list of comparisons between the similar ideologies of Nazism and Islam:
1. Global Hegemony. With Islam it's "Islamic Rule on Earth," and with Nazis it's "A Thousand Years of the Third Reich."
2. "Superior Peoples" - Both are Cults of Supremacy. With Islam Muhammed told Muslims they were "superior peoples" and with Nazis it's Aryan race.
3. Both groups terrorize others unlike them. Both groups aim to destroy others unlike them.
4. Demographics re: Conquest (Self-explanatory)
5. Deliberate Lying by both groups. With Islam it's "taqiyya" and "kitman" and with Hitler it was lying his pants off concerning any peace treaty he ever signed. After signing the Munich Pact with appeaser Chamberlain, Hitler said, "I never had any intention of honoring that."
6. Narcissism - Their way the Only Way. Both groups completely intolerant of anyone else.
7. Censorship. Both groups try to silence their opponents.
Of interest concerning censorship in Venezuela, the dictator Hugo Chavez has silenced the TV station of his opposition this week.

"Defensive Action Against the Global Jihad" is a good, and much more realistic, name than the "War on Terror."
I prefer "Islam vs. the World."
LurKKKer:
First of all, I agree with the other comments that you should change your name. Jihad Watch gets enough grief as it is about comments on this website without you throwing in such a racist connotation in your user name. "Lurker" alone is bad enough, but the "KKK" makes you appear even worse. Not only does your user name scream "TROLL" and "racist" it also makes you look fairly stupid. Lurkers, by definition, don't post.
On the off chance thatyou are not a troll, I would like to answer your post.
I don't know any Muslims. I have never talked to a Muslim except for posters on message boards who claim to be Muslim. What I learned about how all Muslims view the Koran came from Muslim websites. Many of which were recommended to me by people who claim to be Muslims. I read many, and even the most benign sites such as those obviously geared towards children, all say the same thing: the Koran is the last, literal, true word of God and is the only holy text that has never been touched by the hand of man.
If you do know any Muslims in real life, keep in mind that Muslims do not use language like the rest of us do. Also keep in mind that my only converstaions with Muslims has been on anonymous message boards. But a Muslim can say with all certainy that the Koran forbids suicide and murder of innocents. So when asked why there are so many suicide bombers and deliberate targeting and murder of civilians, they claim they are not following "true" Islam.
But ask them about "martydom" and who is considered "innocent" and you get a completely different answer. Anything is allowed when it comes to the defense of Islam.

There is an article that takes certain passages from Mein Kamph, and runs verses from the Quran that have an identical message. It also compares them with Bukhari's Hadith and Ibn Ishaq's Sira. Unfortunately, I thought it was too brief.
But if anyone took the entire Mein Kamph, and came out with its closest verse from the Quran, or failing that, the Sunnah, your points above would be more compellingly made, since it wouldn't merely be an opinionated assertion, but a textual equivalent.
Re. the technical changes:
Seconding duh-swami - I too wondered whether I was in the doghouse for some mysterious reason. Am I?
Technical point: I am still having difficulty adding posts - it seems to be random as to whether I get through (like above, and now) or whether TypeKey bounces me out and informs me that there has been 'an error'. Once it told me that I had posted 'too often' within a specific time period - I didn't know there was a limit? - is there, under the new dispensation? Are we all automatically limited to one post per topic? Two? Or one post per day - so we had better be careful which topic we pick, because having commented on one we will be bounced from the discussion on another? How does it work, exactly? I am baffled.
In my case each time I want to comment I hit 'sign in', give name and password, then the okay for email id to go to Robert and co, and then I can comment [is there some other way it happens?]. But now, mostly when I hit 'sign in', 9 times out of 10 I get an error message - something like 'validation failed'.
It's tempting me to stop trying altogether.
