I'm not sure what to make of this video (thanks to Eric). Maybe it's a couple of earnest jihadists in America, one of whom is probably an American convert to Islam. Or maybe it's just a couple of idiots trying to be outrageous, and demonstrating that jihad chic has come to campus among those who fancy themselves rebellious and perverse -- like those who once proudly included a Charles Manson record in their collection. If anyone has any further information about the identity of these two, and where "Oiler Town" is -- Houston? -- please let me know.
In the meantime, it's worth noting that, as far as I know, no group other than jihadists have celebrated Cho Seung Hui as a hero. And even if this video is a spoof or parody, neither boy says anything in it that a real jihadist would not say and has not said -- least of all the prayer that Allah would continue to allow Americans to be slaughtered.

Since I said nothing critical of America, and I don't think anyone else on this thread has either, I assume you are likely referring to the comments made by Archimedes when you refer to Canadians feeling that it is okay to make fun of America. I do not support the comment he made on that topic - although I think that he meant it in the spirit of good-natured ribbing between friends and not as a slight to your country. For what it's worth, I think very highly of America, as do a great many Canadians, and for a great many reasons, including the determination many Americans show to fight, at whatever cost, for liberty. Canadians though are a very self-deprecating people, many of whom, it seems, love to poke fun at themselves as much as we love poking fun at anyone else. I don't say that this is a good thing, necesarily, but I do point it out because I think you may be taking Archimedes' comments a little bit too hard, or at least misinterpreting them. Perhaps this light-heartedness though is not a good thing. Perhaps it shows that we don't take things, our own actions and our role in the world included, as seriously as we should. Well, I can't solve that problem on behalf of all Canadians. What I can tell you however, is that you and I at least agree on the matters that this site is about, and on the fact that our countries need to work together against Jihadist aggression.
Speaking of which though, I'm not sure why you refer to Canada as a "terrorist-loving" country. It seems to me that there is no more softness toward the Islamist Jihad terror threat here than there is in America as well these days. I note that we are one of only a handful of nations - including only the U.S. and Britain - who are engaged in full combat operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The casualty and death rate among Canadian soldiers there is actually higher per capita than the rate among U.S. troops in Iraq. Our military is quite small, reflecting mostly our much smaller population as compared to the U.S. (one tenth the size). Nonetheless, we have stretched them to the breaking point on that mission. That seems like the behaviour of a pretty solid ally for the U.S.
If you feel that we are not doing enough, it may be worth considering that nations' responses to threats involve a learning curve as well as the respective nations' perceptions of their own specific interests. Thus we entered the war against Nazi Germany more than two years ahead of America, which waited to be bombed by Japan before acting. We wish your support as an ally had been forthcoming at an earlier point in that conflict. Nonetheless, we appreciate the great contribution which the United States did make once it did take up that fight in earnest, without which the war either would have been even more devastating to the world, or would have been lost to Hitler and the Axis powers. We in Canada may not be as intense and strident as Americans generally are, but we are clearly your allies. In the end our two countries will - even more than we are now - be on the same side.

My opinion is these two ding-a-lings are getting exactly what they want right now...attention. Like a child who craves attention from a parent who does not give them enough affection & simple interaction, youth will seek it out any means possible...and they find out doing bad things will give them a quick fix. Tsuga appears to have very thin skin. You don't like people having fun at your expense? America already has an image problem; your reaction will not help at all. Tolerant people sometimes may even take the initiative and make fun of themselves. I lived four years in the U.S. and I got my share of razzing and vice versa -- don't dish it if you can't take it. I found the american people in general quite prepared not to take themselves too seriously. I found most americans open-minded and tolerant; they generally handle criticism quite well.
But some do not -- you can find these creeps in every country.
They take everything as an offense, any joke, any deviation from their view, any criticism as an attack on something sacred.
Just like the Islamists.

Ok, Ok, enough already.
Here's how I see things (I freely acknowledge I could be wrong) -- there are large numbers of pro-Jihadists and anti-American types running around. They exist in Canada, in the UK (in the EU member states), in all the western democracies. That does not preclude the existence of the opposite of the Jihadists -- NATO forces, for example (which would even include France)...they are fighting the Jihadists in Afghanistan. No one here disparages them.
But here's the problem -- it's the bulk of people in France (the followers/admirers of Chirac), it's the bulk of the people in the UK (Labour Party types), it's the bulk of the people in Canada (the Liberals, the NDP -- the ones who, btw, would have the audacity to attack Shane Doan, and I have serious questions about the degree to which they can even understand the nature of democracy -- when they use a Parliament so as to accuse and rebuke a person, a proud Canadian, sans trial, etc.) these are the ones about whom I worry about. Oh, and I also happened to see that May Day parade in the United States by all those illegal immigrants -- they not only carried Mexican flags, but they were opposed to American troops in Iraq -- they struck me as being decidedly anti-American...these too are "a problem." So, I guess what I'm saying is this -- if push comes to shove, should I have trust in the great bulk of, say, Canadians? or the French? or the Brits? My gut response is to hesitate and think, "probably not." I figure in some Islamist onslaught (again, I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong) what would these leftist types do? I'm afraid (even under slight pressure) they'd crumble, falter, appease -- and become a "surrender monkey." (One of my greatest disappointments was to come to the realization that this also describes the UK -- for a long time I had thought the Brits, of all people -- given their past, given their history -- would have the fortitude, the courage, the integrity to stand up for British values...well, so much for that one -- the British elites have crumbled -- we can read about it every day on DhimmiWatch...that's the sad reality...(again, this does not describe ALL Brits, but many, far too many...) Anyway, I think (in the end) the ones who can (will) withstand the onslaught will be a few -- like those Texans of old at the Alamo...they're the ones...
That video of MoJo is so good! I saw it about a year ago and I really liked it. So I showed it to some young people who are on the left and do not understand what this war is even about. Now they connected into this. They got the message and their questions are growing! I bought Robert's book PIG on Islam for one. I hope they read it.
These kids are frightened and want to ignore it. I do not blame them but they need to get educated real fast! They no longer blame Bush but now they understand more as I also explain to them my book The Image of God. What the Bible truly means. Not no propagada bull crap that women are evil and men rule. They now know that Jehweh is the name of their true God and only God. They enjoyed it and listened very well. I will keep on it. Till I can talk to more people who are so left. I have never changed my views on this. I know it sounds crazy but I seen this all coming over 20 years ago. I had nightmares of it all my life. What is scary too is I have said how they will do it. They are getting closer to that NOW!
As a Canadian, I am ashamed to think that any Canadian would call for death to Americans. The United States is the best neighbour and friend we could have. I was profoundly affected by 9/11, because I believe that the attacks were directed not just at the United States, but at the entire Western World. Many tears were shed that day in Canada for our neighbours to the south.
Despite some very unenlightened, stupid politicians and average people who have said hurtful and insulting things about the US, the majority of us realize how much in common our two nations have, despite our differences. I can think of no other country in the entire world with whom I'd rather share a border. Please don't judge all of Canada by the ignorant words of a few. We are all on the same side here.

My mother in law is a Canadian and I have over the years listened to her ridiculous ideas and so I feel I have an inside look at what many Canadians really think. I’m not just a bonehead that is talking out of my rear. I’m sure there are many Canadians that are great people but the not so great ones are making most of the noise. If I have angered some here, well maybe that will shock you into shouting these people down, hey I can hope cant I? Yes I will admit that I don’t really feel as I described about Canada but kindness seems to be getting us nowhere. I’m not here to win friends I am here because of the global islamist threat. I know that, just trying to rattle a few cages and see what comes of it. From the comments I have received I think I have helped in firing you all up even if only a little, at least I hope I have.
The world is dividing into two camps, about 50/50 from what I see, but our side is more dedicated, our side does not look for confrontation, our side when provoked will respond, our side will take care of each other. If you are in trouble and I or those like me are able you can count on our assistance no matter what the odds or foe or even what country you happen to call home. I and thosesimilar to me will fight to the end and never leave any of our compatriots hung out to dry, you can bank on it. And guess what islamists, there are millions just like us out there so get ready to rumble or run, whatever. The same can not be said for the other gang.
