A compact disc allegedly circulated by terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda has surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Top police brass said the CD's veracity was being verified.

The CD was given to a local news agency in Srinagar [Images] along with a statement purportedly issued by so-called chief of the banned outfit in India Abu Abdul Rehman Al-Ansari....

"We have come to know about the CD and are in the process of verifying its authenticity. It will be premature to make a comment at this moment," he said.

The statement allegedly issued by Al-Ansari claimed that 1000 copies of it have been distributed in mosques across Kashmir valley.

In the CD, the terrorist outfit has announced jihad against India.

The 15-minute CD shows a masked man with an AK assault rifle reading out a statement in Urdu criticising the role of certain separatist leaders whose photographs were also displayed, informed sources said.
