Amendment that would have established permanent bar on amnesty visas for terrorists voted down

The President's immigration amnesty proposal is absurd and destructive in numerous ways. Here, one attempt to head off some of the immense damage it would do to the United States was voted down. The Cornyn Amendment, which would have established "a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals," lost in the Senate, 51-46. Michelle Malkin has a list of the senators who voted nay.

OT but things aren't looking good:

Iran is aiding Syria with a possible attack on Israel.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56053

And here:
Daniel Pipes Weblog
http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/755

of the 51 , 80% of the vote were dhimmicrats...no surprise here....make your notes and vote them out the next time they run for office...

Embarrasing, that's all I have to say.

Like the Sarge just said, choose your candidtaes wisely in 2008.

Amendment that would have established permanent bar on amnesty visas for terrorists voted down...

Yeah, well, at least they can't call us bigots -- that's the important thing.

From the Pipes article:

Deterrence offers the best chances of avoiding warfare.

Never fails!

The Israeli government should assemble such convincing arguments that even al-Assad can understand the folly of his playing with this particular fire. (June 7, 2007)

The minute they do, "seen-your boosh" will personally send in Syria's secret weapon to neutralize such a threat -- Condi Rice!

No one in the Israeli goverment will stand, the minute she scowls and stomps around the thick, posh, carpeting, with her spikiest-high-heels!

Tis a freightful sight and the bravest of Israeli generals have been known to faint at such an awsome spectical.

That's what happened in last year as one recounts events leading to Israels defeat.

Whew! I'm just glad they know what's best for us. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go teach my children about gun safety.

This illustrates that, for all practical political purposes, it is impossible to separate the problem of Muslim immigration from that of immigration in general. We need the borders sealed - something Bush could easily have done. We also need, as the great Tom Tancredo suggested at the last debate, a time-out on immigration. This will give us a chance to straighten out the current mess. Following this we could construct an immigration policy designed for the benefit of America as a whole and not for the benefit of particular ethnic or business interests. And that would, presumably, include a ban on additional Muslim immigration. Time is short - contact your Senators or Congresspersons and urge them to kill this monstrosity.

...Ha...don't forget target acquisition techniques and target practice at ranges from zero to 600 yards...

These so called representatives of the American people. They are the most traitorous people to ever serve this country. The destroy America criminal amnesty bill, don’t tell me it’s the bring families together and out of the shadows bill. They are out of the shadows they don’t fear being deported because they know they wont. California has 12 million of these people here. It has destroyed the states infrastructure, our hospitals and schools. Some areas look like mexico already, the trash, the crime, the corruption, the gangs who run the neighborhoods These people don’t want to learn English they want to make this area more like mexico, just ask one of them if you can speak Spanish. They live 5 or more families to a home, why, so they will have more money to send back to mexico. I want legal immigrants not those who break our laws and then are rewarded. They break our laws and then congress panders to them so whats to worry about? Im sick of it, and the truth should be told, you want to see some racists? Well they are, they use whites, for their money. They use Asians, for employment. They hate blacks, yep hate. Try walking into their neighborhood some time and you will find out. I have lots of friends that are Americans of Spanish decent, they are pissed, they want them to go home and fix their own country. These rat reps are playing a game, a game we have all seen here. Its called smear anyone who doesn’t agree with you as a racist or bigot. They are playing us with the boohooing of the save the children bs. If these people cared about their children they wouldn’t have endangered them by coming here. You think they will make America better, well did they make mexico better? So all of a sudden by coming here they are going to completely change their ways? Again, bull. But thats enough on Mexicans, they aren’t the only ones gaming us there are many future violent criminals that will be given citizenship including islamists. So if you want your country to turn in to a latin American banana republic let them in but Im suggest you research what it is like down there first, you wont like what you see. Be aware that this is the greatest sellout of American people since the blacks were denied full rights in the beginning, something we have rectified since. I wrote a letter to my rep already, if anyone wants to see it let me know I will post it. Out here we call it the death to America plan and we know what we are talking about as we have seen the results first hand.

Just emailed Senator Martinez express my disappointment, and to assure him that he has lost my vote, and that of anyone I can persuade to follow suit.

The amazing thing about this is that I was able to avoid using the word "jerk".

Why don't we all just refrain from voting for bad candidates in '08 and write Hugh in? If we haven't the numbers to vote him in, at least we could make a point.

Well no big surprise that both of my rat Senators voted against it. I have been calling, writing, emailing and faxing their offices for months, they vote the party line all the time, they might not be loyal to the people who voted them in but they sure are loyal to each other.

Rat bastards.

Yeah, but Bush said anyone against this bill, is against what's good for America...I would think, that he know's better than any American, what's good for America. We dont need no stinking fences, but we do need a super highway, so those three trailer truck's from Mexico can get to the Canadian border without hitting anything. And we do need a permanent class of worker/slave/ types, who do all that work American's wont do, and cheaply. Farming and field work, American's hate that, janitorial,(the most degrading work a human can do, according to Principal Skinner of The Simpsons), no American in his/her right mind will go for a career in janitorial. Then there is landscaping, and polishing grocery store floor's, they have long been abandoned by American worker's.
No American want's career in cab driving, pumping gas, pushing fast food burger's, housekeeping,
aide's in nursing home's, and load's of other honest job's that American's wont touch. That's why we have high unemployment, American's, plain and simple, dont want to work. We are lazy, we only want high paying job's that dont require getting dirty. We NEED a permanent class of dhimmi/slave type's here, so American's can resume the 'American dream'.
So Geo is right, institutional, economic slavery, 'is' good for America. So I think we should get behind Geo on this...way behind him...

Someome once said 'Let George do it'. That was a mistake....

Let me tell you as a Brit I truly feel for America as far as this goes and identify with the concern of those awake to the dangers.
The sort of political climate and changes on either side of the Atlantic tend to run parallel.
It looks like both our nations are losing control of their borders, letting in any Tom, Dick or Harry, not caring if they are dangerous or not, with the government deaf to the pleas of local authorities that the infrastructure is cracking under the strain of more and more newcomers in their areas. It seems like your haemorrhaging border with Mexico would happen under either a Republican or a Democratic administration, in Britain both Consevatives and Labour are in favour of an open border with Turkey, due within the next ten years.

I guess I shouldn't have even expected anything better. This is one of those decisions that is so illogical it actually makes the gears in your mind seize up if you stop and think about it.

I swear...without resorting to profanity I cannot even describe how worthless a lot of our elected representatives are.
We shake down little old ladies like they're convicted felons when they get on a airplane- but then just let the bad guys walk across the border, stay here, and do whatever they please.

Sanity has completely left the halls of power.

Time to load more cartridges, and make another food order from Emergency Essentials...

Once a jihadi, alway's a jihadi. I guess no one think's about that when these terrorist type's are released. Possibly all confirmed terrorists's should recieve a labotomy prior to release. Severing the nerve between thought and action, the jihadist could still think jihadists's thought's, but he just cant seem to 'do' anything about it. Surgical 'restraint's', a long dead psychiatric proceedure, that may be a useful tool in the treatment of Allahphrenia, a psychiatric disorder leading to jihadism.

sorry, that last post should be under the next thread...Italy....yet, it amost fit's here as well...

George, George, George of the jungle, friend to you and me!

Get a rep, get a judge, get a conviction, get a rope and find a tree.
Gangsta Nation! Yay! Arm your grandparents, the gangstas consider them easy pickens. And guess what, it has already occurred in my usually peaceful law abiding tax paying neighborhood. I don’t answer the door w/o my pistol handy any more.

The Bill is a perfect example of why the Founding Fathers limited voting eligibility to lien-free landholding males and why Madison argued against equalizing political rights throughout the population. But, since these rights have been equalized, if you play out the scenarios, this open-border-fast-bleed option is better than the tightened-borders-slow-bleed option.

Either way you play it, the social welfare system is going to fail. We currently have $70 trillion in unfunded liabilities, increasing by $3 trillion per year. The 2017 social security date is BS because the great majority of the problem is in medical care and social services, not monthly checks. The electorate will not allow for benefits to be cut. The change will not come until our credit ratings are shot. At that point there will be sudden and massive benefit cuts, and a Dictatorial return to power as is laid out in Bush’s recent Presidential Directive.

The sooner this happens the better, especially with respect to domestic Islamization. One way to accelerate this government’s collapse is to create greater strain on the system by flooding it with tens of millions of new dependent people. The most dependent are high school dropouts. The Heritage Foundation estimates that each such household costs the taxpayer $20k a year or over a million per life-cycle. The demographics coming in will be very dependent:

2006 Michigan High School Graduation Rates (Michigan State University Data)
Black Males: 26%
Hispanic Males: 29%
White Males: 71.2%

When the money runs out, our Problem of Overproduction will be over, and society will return to a more traditional form of history and government. The sooner it happens, the better off everybody will be.

The immigration bill is of a piece with Tarbaby Iraq. Wilfully refusing to understand Islam or Iraq itself, Bush decided on the basis of nothing more than a sentimental belief that "everyone wants freedom" and that he, George Bush, could continue to ignore the menace of Islam, reduce it to a mere tactic ("terrorism" and thus the "war on terrorism"), thereby avoid such matters as considering how to undo, or diminish, the Money Weapon, campaigns of Da'wa, and demographic conquest, and keep on pretending that the great and peaceful religion of Islam was being "hijacked by a handful" or "more than a handful" and that the "extremists" had to be defeated" and, having been "defeated," would no longer pose a threat, and we could all go back to bed.

The sentimentality of bringing, at the cost of lives of American soldiers, very few of whom are the children, as Bush is, of privilege, and very few of whom have come back from even a single tour of duty, despite being kept in the dark about Islam (do you think that's what they might teach, just a little, at Fort Bragg or Fort Benning or Fort Jackson? Don't be silly), have realized for themselves what a farce is the 'mission" and how selfish, grasping, hostile, and meretricious are the people, the so-called "Iraqi people," they are being called upon to sacrifice for -- by others, in Washington, who substite a blend of sentimental pieties (those "ordinary moms and dads" in the Middle East who "long for freedom") and vicious calumny ("cut-and-runners" and "surrender-Crats") for an intelligent, perfectly realistic, and sustained policy of weakening the Camp of Islam, in the first place by exploiting whatever natural fissures -- ethinc and sectarian in the case of Iraq -- present themselves, and in Iraq they present themselves on a platter.

Siimilarly, Bush, the child of privilege, is joined by the well-off -- some of them Republicans, and some Democrats, the kind of Democrats who are themselves in the same gated-community or well-mansioned class, who do not take the subway often enough, and do not have any fear, for themselves, their children, their grandchildren, so cushioned and cosseted as they are from what their fellow citizens, not in that class and not likely to be (the very ones for whose well-being they claim such solicitude) endure from unchecked illegal, and much too loose and laissez-faire legal immigration which is based, again, on sentimentality and not on any sense of the duty to preserve cultural continuity, and to carefully regulate the rate of admission, and hence of likely full integration, of people from abroad who, because of technological advances, are unlikely to sever ties with the countries they came from, and who are often the impoverished who have no particular skills, but naturally want -- who can blame them? but not blaming them is not the same thing as forgetting that we, too, are a country and we, too, have rights, have a right to decide what our country could or should take on, which means what we, who make up this country, should be asked to take on.

We are buffeted about in every way. Clinton the enthusiast for "globalisation" -- when capital can be moved about, but high-paid American labor cannot -- did great damage to American workers. He, however, has made out like gangbusters -- taking in some $40 million in the last few years from speaking engagements, starting the modestly-titled Clinton Global Initiative, for this Good Cause, and then use for his own multifarious purposes, as a certified Doer of Good, those billionaires and centimillionaires who now make up what both he, and the missus, Lady Macbeth, find are their newest, and truest, and bestest friends.

Sentimentalists, giving away to all concerned. but not concerned, or not concerned in the right way, for the people whom they presume to lead, and whom they have betrayed in so many different ways. Bush in Iraq and Bush (and many Democrats) on immigration -- exhibit the same dereliction of duty. Duty, that is, rightly defined.

We had our first taste of this bill and the many Mexican flags waved in protest by people DEMANDING that Americans move out of their way and we voted back in every Democrat who voted for that bill and also ran for reelection. Of the Republicans who were tossed out, four had voted against it.

Below is a list of those who voted for McCain Kennedy in 2006 and are up in 2008. How much do you want to bet that ninety percent of those who run will be reelected, regardless of whether or not this bill is ultimately signed into law? Even the man who called us bigots, Lindsey Graham, will get back in.

Baucus (D-MT)
Biden (D-DE)
Durbin (D-IL)

Johnson (D-SD)
Kerry (D-MA)

Too bad that most American workers still don't see it. They think the Clintons presided over the greatest expansion of wealth known to man and that Bush destroyed it all simply by not meeting with Arafat.

We Americans talk a good game but when push comes to shove these same lawmakers will be sent back to Capitol Hill to do the bidding of foreign and special interests. One man's special interest is another's vital interest. Your boondoggle is my necessity, and vice versa.

We love incumbents. There's just no getting around it. Those with seniority are better positioned to bring home the bacon and they won't attain seniority unless we keep voting them back in. We have the capacity to impose term limits just by voting for someone else, but we won't. One author on WND accused Ted Kennedy of selling us out, AGAIN. Ted Kennedy doesn't need to sell us out. Most of us do it for him every time we cast a ballot. Bay Staters obviously aren't offended by what he's done and what he continues to do. They're like most Americans: they have a low opinion of Congress but a very high opinion of those who represent THEM.

Boing!!! I've got a doozy of an idea! Real simple too!

Since WE have not enforced the immigration laws (that work quit well when enforced) for so long, how about we own up to this and:

1) Re-enforce and amend existing laws to be smarter and tougher.

2) Grant a one time historical amnesty to the existing illegals with preconditions lasting a decade - let's face it, it would be too costly to round millions up and send them home.

3) Slam the boarders shut (fences, trenches, robotic surveillance posts, predators in the sky and boots on the ground at the Mexican boarder)

4) Immediate moratoriums on immigration from nations hostile to the US - you people want freedom? FUGETABOUTIT! START YOUR OWN G*DDAMN 1776!!!

National suicide is fun!

National suicide is fun!

We've already done that - back in 1986. We were promised that was A ONE AND ONLY TIME AMNESTY.

This will be just the SECOND IN A LONG LINE. Once this one goes through, there will be a push for another one in less than ten years.

The only "amnesty" should be to deny citizenship to illegals and to deny the right of chain migration to the US-born children of illegal aliens. They should not be allowed to sponsor even one person from another country.

"Slam the boarders shut (fences, trenches, robotic surveillance posts, predators in the sky and boots on the ground at the Mexican boarder)"

No electronics. They generate false positives when animals cross. Boots on the ground is the only thing that will work. It should be the military. We have authorized crossing points all along our 2200 mile border. Away from those checkpoints, the military should be authorized to regard as hostile and fire upon anyone attempting to cross the border. If the person continues to advance then the military should shoot to kill. What else do you do with invaders?

1986, You beat me to it PMK.
Been there done that (one time amnesty) how stupid do they think I am. There is a reason they wait twenty years and do it all over again, they are counting on many Americans ignorance to this fact, many were playing in the sandbox when they sold us out the first time. I have an idea, how about individual states agreeing by vote to import these people who will not respect your culture, your language, your rights, your money, you. If any states want them well ok take them by voter approval. Close the border, enforce existing laws, reform legal immigration. Many will deport themselves, those who are left, if they demonstrate their desire to become Americans in the American tradition, let em join us.

pez,
Regarding your stats, what seems like ages ago when I graduated there were many Perez, Sanchez, and amazingly they all graduated right alongside of me of course they spoke English as well as I do. Hey there was a couple of black families in my town as well, lots of kids and again amazingly they graduated too and went on to be successful in life. So as the realtor sez… location, location, location, it does matter.

When we receive worse things than 9/11 from the peaceful ones thanks to the loony lefties we can start applying the Mussolini treatment to those who voted against this (Republicans included). My only worry is that there won't be a lampost strong enough to support the weight of Ted Kennedy's fat head when his turn comes to be strung up for his career of treason.

It's good that Byron Dorgan (D) introduced an amendment that can potentially send this bill into a tailspin, pissing off McClain and Goober Gramm in the process. Elsewhere in this story,

While the Dorgan amendment marked the biggest setback for the bill's advocates, there were others. They failed to defeat a Republican proposal to give law enforcement agents access to rejected visa applications, which could lead to the arrest and deportation of some illegal immigrants who otherwise might escape detection.

They also failed, by a 64-33 vote, to block a provision by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., making English "the national language." Opponents called the measure demeaning and said they would try to kill it during House-Senate negotiations.

The Senate also rejected a proposal by Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., that bill supporters called a "killer amendment." It would have delayed the bill's shift in favor of attracting foreign workers with needed skills as opposed to keeping families together.

The Senate also rejected an amendment by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., to change the Z visa program whereby illegal immigrants could gain lawful status. DeMint proposed requiring them to buy high-deductible health plans to be eligible for visas.
In short, anything that could alleviate the problem went down in flames.

Time to prepare primary challenges to all members of this Republican Guard of Bush & McClain (& Kennedy).

This immigration bill is a disgrace. This bill needs to be soundly defeated. However, I am alarmed to read such anti-trade complaints about "globalism."

Free trade is an economic benefit to this country. Free trade is a concrete manifestation of freedom. Free trade and capitalism generally do involve "creative destruction." No doubt that some people are negatively impacted by such disruptions.

Look at Hong Kong. Despite having no natural resources, it is one of the most prosperous places on the earth. Free trade works. Lets not turn dislike for the immigration bill into a dislike of economic competition.

Inter-faith relations
In an Islamic London, Christians and Jews – with their allegiance to the Bible and the Talmud – would be protected as ‘peoples of the book’. Hindus and Sikhs manage to live alongside a large Muslim population in India, so why not here? Although England has a long tradition of religious bigotry against, for instance, Roman Catholics, it is reasonable to assume that under the guiding hand of Islam a civilised accommodation could be made among faith groups in London. This welcoming stance already exists in the capital in the form of the City Circle (see Yahya Birt interview), which encourages inter-faith dialogue and open discussion.

JSobieski,
Free trade works both ways and is only mutually beneficial when dealing with honest free nations operating in good faith. One day you may wake up and find you don’t have a rotten orange to suck on, I hope that never comes to pass. But go ahead have your free trade. Myself, if it isn’t made in America or by select friends of America, I won’t buy it, I don’t need it that bad. Hong Kong became prosperous under British rule, it is way too early in the game to tell how it will fare under the red Chinese. I don’t know about anyone else but I prefer not to ingest toxic or poisonous substances, free trade or no free trade.

Go ahead buy and own your worthless piece of crap GM, Ford Vehicle. See if you can get 275,000+ miles out of the original clutch as I am doing with a Celica.

Quantum Infidel 12:05 pm

I'd put your #3 first - CLOSE THE DAMN BORDERS! Both Canada and Mexico allow people into their countries that I don't want sneaking across the border into MY country. I think we need physical barriers as well as electronic monitoring.

Then re-evaluate immigration. Who do we want to come here? How many desperate refugees from where, and when do we hit the limit? How do we monitor who they are, where they are, how do we know if they're overstaying their visas? Who would we never under any conditions accept? What people would we gladly accept any time - no quota limits?

Then -WHEN THE BORDERS ARE SECURE- discuss what to do about the 10-12 million illegals. Do we need a guest worker program? Or does that take us back to the old Robber Baron Capitalism that exploited workers, which labor unions helped to defeat? We need a national debate on this, not just a five-pound document handed down by a few colluding senators who demand a vote tomorrow. Should we find some way to register illegals? Should we deport them as we find them, one-by-one? What about the employers? How are they supposed to know who's legal? I'm a natural-born citizen, but my Social Security card vanished a couple of moves ago... I'd bet there are many Americans who would have difficulty proving citizenship. Do we want to become one of those nations where you have to show your identity and travel documents to the state police whenever asked? Or maybe "don't ask don't tell": if they don't get in trouble with the law / don't invite attention to themselves we ignore them and their children are born Americans.

I can see why our representatives have been avoiding these discussions, BUT -- WE ELECTED THEM TO REPRESENT OUR INTERESTS AND THEY NEED TO START DOING SO! (The House Resolution that Japan should apologize for sex slavery in WWII is not what my Congressman needs to busy himself with!)

Ynkedoodl2,
I don’t need no stinking celica. But how you have read my mind as to who my select American friends are, now that I am curious about. Nostradamus or Karnac, which one are you?

tgusa:

I buy American products at every opportunity, but I do that by choice. The idea that the government would prevent me from economic options on purely economic grounds is repugnant to me and is un-American. It would also be bad for us if US companies had a captive market. How do you think the U.S. auto industry got in such bad shape? We got fat and lazy. The auto industry is a glimpse of what Europe is like, job banks, rigid job rules, luxurious vacation plans, $0 health care deductibles, etc.

I agree that open free trade should not be conducted with powers acting in an affirmatively aggressive manner against us. No reason to trade with the Soviet Union or post-Shah Iran.

I have commented several times on this site that China and Russia are threats, and that they will use Jihad as a distraction of the West to pursue their interest.

Particular jobs will always come and go. The U.S. no longer produces blacksmiths or horse whip makers. The types of jobs we have now are different than the types of jobs people had 20 years ago. There does not appear to be a shortage of jobs in the country. The economy has been growing at a healthy rate every since Reagan's tax cuts in 1981. Trade barriers are not going to make us more prosperous, so why have them? Free trade works so long as the exchanges are freely entered into, and do not constitute fraud. Chinese food products are getting hammered in the marketplace, and will continue to do so.

I have already changed careers once, and can do so again if necessary. I started my own business just over two years ago, and am enjoying freedom like I could only imagine (although I do work harder than ever before).

There are three essential ways to compete:
(1) be a low cost producer
(2) be a high quality producer
(3) make something nobody else has ever thought of

The U.S. has always been good at (2) and (3). We haven't been good at (1) for a 100 years (e.g. since we became a world leader).

tgusa

Nostradamus to you.

The immigration amnesty bill is a disgrace. I can't see who it is benefitting in this country, with the exception of the far-left, who it appears are attempting to infuse a noticable population who will eventually and continually vote left, putting the right in a permanent minority status, with eventual elimination of the two-party system that we currently "enjoy".

I also agree with posters who have stated the obvious. Even though the best possible outcome is to kill this bill, the existence of, and order of requisite occurences must be implemented, assuming this horrific bill will pass.

The concept and enactment of immigration amnesty, despite all the empty promises of how "rigid" it will be and how "strictly" it will be enforced, in the absence of a closed system, border control, is quite simply, illogical.

Border control must be achieved before any immigration bill is passed...period. Once the rest of the world realizes the US is handing out a free lunch FOREVER, the conservative estimate of 12 million illegals already here will absolutely skyrocket soon afterwards.

It seems to me that this is the insipid intention of the left anyway, doesn't it?

Choose your candidates wisely in 2008.

Sounds like an awful lot of brake jobs instead to me.

I see no point in buying American when American companies are shafting us right now with this bill. If anything, I'll never eat at another restaurant, sleep at another hotel, or buy American meat if I can help it again.

I support globalization, but it works on good faith. If our corporatists have no moral compass and don't care about their own country, it won't work. Victor Davis Hanson makes this point ALL. THE. TIME.

Australia, New Zealand,

I hope you're paying attention to this. Get started on controlling your immigration. Now.

Hey guys, it is no longer just picking fruit or ranch work wets do, they have taken over cement finishing, house framing, tile work, all sorts of jobs that used to sustain the middle class worker. They take a lot less money to do the work so they have screwed Americans out of good paying jobs. This
is the plan, we will have the very rich and then the poor.

"We also need, as the great Tom Tancredo suggested at the last debate, a time-out on immigration. This will give us a chance to straighten out the current mess." RBLA

Exactly. Even the legal immigration rate exceeds the assimilation rate.

Immigration from each country should be tied to a measure of their assimilation.

* No desire to learn English should result in lower immigration ... not accomodations for more non-English speaking people.

* Demands for foot-baths should result in lower immigration ... not accomodations for foot-baths at airports and schools.

* Acts of terrorism should result in zero immigration ... not accomodations for more terrorists.

Government of the special interests, by the special interests, and for the special interests -- of the ideologues, by the ideologues, and for the ideologues.

That's what happens when they lose all fear of the people. The public has short memories, the special interest and ideologues have very long ones.

Watch the next round of elections to prove that out.

Regarding the Celica , I also had one that I drove for 13 years w/170K ( a 1990) on the original clutch, I finally sold it to get a Solara only because I was commuting more and wanted a vehicle with less miles on it, that Celica is still going on teh original clutch I hear :-)

The idiots in the US government simply fail to understand that it is only a matter of time before the Latino dope-and-goon gangs like Mara Salvatrucha truck in the necessary nuclear materiel into a major US city, get in place, and al Qaeda sleeper cells will set it off.

I think we posters all see this happening. But

When such a thing DOES finally happen, it will only THEN occur to our bimbo "representatives" and fat-assed bureaucrats that they will be out of a job PERMANENTLY.

And we the American people will have to put ol' Humpty Dumpty back together while fighting off the jihadists who will almost certainly come out of the woodwork and try to commandeer whatever remains of our nation.

Overall, it is a bleak situation indeed.

Unnecessary cataclysms usually are.

Nothing has made more clear the deceit & arrogant mendacity of the Bushies and probably most of the congress that this attempt at a sellout after all these years of inaction. The border should have been secured decades ago as the majority of Americans clearly demanded but now border security is held hostage to this legalize-the-12,000,000-illegals bill. These pro-amnesty sell-outs know the public wants border security badly so instead of dealing with this directly & separately, as they could have done long ago, they tie it an intensely unpopular amnesty system (crafted behind closed doors) – else we American chumps won’t get our needed border security.

This bill has been presented so deceitfully it boggles the mind and even a NY Times poll was rigged so lies could be made (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/06/eienstein_not_welcome.html ).

The deliberate loopholes and false pretenses have been made clear by many commentators on the web and this bill needs to fail with these deceitful sell-out congressmen targeted for punishment at the next primaries.

FM-

You put it beautifully and succinctly and exposed the greatest danger of all. Immense fait accompli EEC type social revolutions with little understanding or input from THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. This is in itself the end of effective democracy.

Many intelligent people have clearly pointed out that this immigration bill disaster would SPELL THE END OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AS WE KNOW IT. I keep thinking I will wake up from this nightmare It's too bizarre.

Senator Ted Kennedy and his Band Of Mothers who have supported any version of the bill need to be taken out next election.

Any elected official serving more than their first term needs to be voted out, since they've been around long enough to be 'part of the problem' longer than 'part of the solution'.

I know that's not feasible -- that all but one-time representatives will be eliminated... but this is a journey (with a destination)

Vote them out. Build the fence first.

When bleeding - a) apply pressure first, b) then seal the open wound, c)then treat for internal infection. The same applies here.

a) remove political obstacles & reps b) build the fence and seal the border to immigration c) deal with those already here in varying degrees of enforcement.

They sold us out. I just got off the phone with the local office of the republican party. I told them I am leaving and that they are through as far as getting elected to anything they will never, ever get my vote again. Now I start calling all my friends, we all agreed to do the same if this criminal monstrousity passed. Sobeit.

tgusa,

Excellent! I wrote my Senator a letter and told him the same thing.

I also told him that if I were a Democratic strategist, I couldn't think of a better way to kill off the Republican party. The Democrats know that the aliens that will be legalized, along with all the relatives that will ride their coattails into this country, will vote overwhelmingly democratic, and that millions of Republicand, like myself, will abandon the party in disgust.

How could the Republican leadership be so stupid?

We desperately need a viable third party in this country.

tgusa:

I will be easier to get rid of the Republican sell-outs than it will be to start a third party.

RUN FRED, RUN!

"Senator Ted Kennedy and his Band Of Mothers who have supported any version of the bill need to be taken out next election."

Plague,

Ted Kennedy and John Kyl, the Republican turncoat from Arizona, were reelected last November. We're stuck with both of them at least until 2012 (or until Teddy's liver gives out).

TGUSA,

I like the idea of individual states taking the illegals in. Let's see how many illegal aliens Massacusetts voters are willing to absorb. They also have the Catholic Church preaching the evil of borders and how it's man's right to travel and live anywhere he pleases, rule of law be damned.

We need a caveat though: a state that votes to absorb illegal immigrants must be denied all federal contracts and welfare subsidies of any kind (including housing) from federal government programs.

BUT WHAT SARGENT BROWNIE KEEPS FORGETTING IS THAT REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT GEORGE AL-SAUD IBN BUSH IS THE IDIOT THAT PROPOSED THE AMNESTY!!!! BUSH IS AN DISGRACE!

bush is a liberal-he's no republican.

("cut-and-runners" and "surrender-Crats")

These terms adequately describe democrats. I'm all for getting out of iraq, but ("cut-and-runners" and "surrender-Crats") describe democrats because I haven't heard them have any plan at all about the jihad problem-at least the republicans want to do something about (even though they don't know what to do).

Quantum Infidel

2) Grant a one time historical amnesty to the existing illegals with preconditions lasting a decade - let's face it, it would be too costly to round millions up and send them home.

Are you kidding? After spending billions and trillions of dollars for Iraq and every other terrorist country on the map, we could be using that money to deport these illegals.

In fact if I was president, I would take our troops out of Iraq and use them to round up all the illegals and deport them-and I would build a great wall of china on the south boarder-and I would've had tons of money left over for alternate energy research.

McCain voted against it of course. And he voted YES on the Kennedy bill.

Why doesn't McCain run in the Dhimmicrat Primary?

In fact, I want to know how all these illegas are making ends meat (let alone have enough money to send home). They make less than minimum wage don't they? A person making minimum wage needs two jobs and they still have trouble with the damn bills.

Just to clarify I am against the "Amnesty" bill because I think border security and the enforcement of existing laws should come first. Those who chose to enter the US illegally should have to wait before being allowed to become "legal" as well as paying fines, back taxes and penalties.Law and order has been a principal of the Republican party which I have reminded my Republican Senator and the RNC of in no uncertain terms.Should this legislation pass the Republican party will pay for stabbing their base in the back. That being said here is the White House statement on whether or not terrorists, criminals and gangbangers are barred from becoming citizens of the US.

Are Convicted Criminals and Terrorists Barred. Yes!

Wanted to take a moment to clarify what is in the bill regarding the Z program and convicted criminals and terrorists. The contention that they are not barred from the Z program has been making the rounds today.

The range of crimes that disqualify applicants from the Z program extends into the thousands and includes any felony (murder), any three misdemeanors (theft, although felony theft would be covered in the prior category), any aggravated felony (rape), any serious criminal offense (assault), most crimes involving moral turpitude (fraud), and any violation of a law relating to a controlled substance. These bars are not waivable by anyone -- period. You can view the bill language on this provision on pages 282 to 284.

Terrorists are not eligible for the legalization program. Period. And this bar is not waivable by anyone. Period. Again, this is spelled out on pages 282 and 284 of the bill, without ambiguity or room for debate. The bill also contains a whole host of new tools to fight criminal, dangerous, and terrorist aliens.

Paris Hilton for President!

Can Scooter Libby share her jail cell in Beverly Hills?

Sorry but I just couldn't resist.

There is no mistake that the blanket amnesty bill will pass. There is no mistake the rules they impose ,including the 5 grand they will be charged, will be loosened or completely disreguarded. For hardship reasons.

It will not be mandatory to learn the national language (Has that been decided yet? Is our national language been decided yet or is it still up for bid?)even though it will be one of the "rules".What happened to the previous rules? Were they obeyed? No because they were ILLEGAL ALIENS and had no supervision. There can be no supervision for immigration because the cost is too high.

If this bill is killed it carries over,as it has done time and again and what has that done?Do i have to say what it's done?

It's blanket amnesty all the way. Why? Because it's easier. It's like someone else posted earlier we are too busy tending to all the other nations buisiness to mind our own.

There is nothing new here.People sound surprised, upset. Why?You knew how it was going to be.You know how it's going to be.

Change is good....right?Corporations say it and politicians say it.So it must be correct.Change is good.

Over a trillion dollars, well over a trillion will be spent on the "war on terror".We could have weened ourselves off oil,we could have solved our immigration problems,we could have had an educational system that works or existed.

I work with a guy who has to park 2-3 blocks away from his home because he lives in an historical district. His street and sidewalks are brick. To save the historical bull crap they are spending about 4 million on about a 2 mile stretch of road.To re furbish it with the brick.Meanwhile they closed two schools and harp they can't find the funding. Also the high school just built a 7 million dollar tennis court.Where does the money go? Where does the money go?

By the way the last time this topic was brought up i could have swore the Illegal alien gifure was 11 million already now it's 12 million, how many million are there really? You don't know.I don't know.THEY HAVEN'T A CLUE.

Security?
I think not.
The minute men are old ladies compared to the organizations developing all on thier lonesomes these days.I am not talking solely about immigration here either.

I have brothers and sisters i can call before i put a call into old uncle sam.

Stop being surprised about such things and start surrounding yourselves with brothers and sisters. They got your back not old unkie sam.

Now forgive me i must return to my castle.

I can’t figure it out, Tammy Bruce said we got sold out, now Michael savage is saying we won, it lost. What is the truth?

rational,
Way to go, maybe it was your call that put us over the top, if it is true.

JSobieski,
I know third parties are like a toad at a Tupperware party so don’t worry I’m with ya.
While these guys are debating devolution Thompson is heading to Israel. I don’t think there is much doubt that in some parts of the country devolution is occurring at an alarming rate even as we converse. Evolution, while it is a fun topic to debate, our pols need to focus on things they can do something about, today.

PMK,
If we here at JW can come up with reasonable ideas how come the mister ed’s in DC cant? Wait, don’t answer that your brain might explode explaining it to me.

mrockroll1969,
No, they make the prevailing wage depending on the job, it’s the same as the 1970’s but its still over minimum.
No, they live 5 or more families to a 2 bedroom apt something they will throw US citizens out for doing.
They use our hospital emergency rooms as primary medical care, use a false id and abscond when it comes time to pay up. Overall it’s a pretty easy existence, I sometimes wish I was an illegal. Ah, dreams, everybody has them. And that’s as is said the tip of the iceberg.

Dar al-harb,
We have close to that here in the peoples republik of California and there has got to be more in the other 49. 20 million plus is my guesstimation but it could be higher.

Oh yeah, many of them drive beat up old Celicas with tons of miles on them as transportation. /just kidding

So, does this mean that the terrorists working openly in CAIR, and at the New York training centers will now be deported?? .... I didn't think so.

Well Kerrie, next time you all invite Hamas, Egyptian Brotherhood, Hezballa, and CAIR reps over to the White House for dinner -- give them our regards.

Allahfanculo & others

We don't need Paris Hilton or Tom Tancredo; we need Vicente Fox as our President. If we do, he can not only deport all illegal immigrants (the same way Mexico deals with immigrants from Guatemala and Honduras), but he can also encourage the poorest Americans to move illegally to Mexico to find jobs there, so that they can send a good portion of their hard earned pesos back to the US. Oh, and Mexican schools can start teaching the kids of such immigrants English - have bilingual education, and all Mexican businesses and services would operate in both Spanish and English. Also, whenever such Americans get hurt, or say get an upset stomach from all the jalapenos in the tacos, they can move to Mexican emergency rooms, where I'm sure they should be able to get good treatment.

While we are at it, the US consulates in Tijuana, Juarez, Loredo, Mexicali, Mexico City, et al can issue the equivalent of Matricula cards to such Americans which they can use for ID: I'm sure that President Calderon will appreciate it and work on an amnesty bill for such Americans who sneak into the US, while Mexican legislators work on getting them behind those Americans who want to migrate to Mexico legally.

I'm sure President Bush or wannabe President McClain will appreciate their jobs going to a Mexican.

Is it too late in the process to call the Capitol Hill switchboard -- (202) 224-3121 -- ask to speak to one's senators, and politely tell them (or whoever takes their messages) that we are against this immigration bill, and we want to see the borders controlled first, or else the senators will lose our votes in the next election?

No, it's not too late. Call now.

Well, maybe the switchboard is only open 9 to 5.

Sen. Sessions Releases List of 20 Loopholes in the Senate Immigration Bill
Monday, June 4, 2007

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) released a list of 20 loopholes in the comprehensive immigration bill today which reveals that the bill is fatally flawed and will not establish a functioning immigration system in the future."..;
http://sessions.senate.gov/pressapp/record.cfm?id=275456

..Krauthammer from june 1 07...."..the campaign for legalization does not stop at stupidity and farce. It adds mendacity as well. Such as the front-page story in last Friday's New York Times claiming that "a large majority of Americans want to change the immigration laws to allow illegal immigrants to gain legal status."

Sounds unbelievable. And it is. A Rasmussen poll had shown that 72 percent of Americans thought border enforcement and reducing illegal immigration to be very important. Only 29 percent thought legalization to be very important. Indeed, when a different question in the Times poll -- one that did not make the front page -- asked respondents if they wanted to see illegal immigrants prosecuted and deported, 69 percent said yes."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/31/AR2007053101849_pf.html

Hugh Hewitt..".. the draft immigration law's intent to bestow on all illegals inthe U.S regardless of country of origin probationary legal status andeventually a Z Visa is simply and obviously insane. Proponents of the measure-Section 601(h) of the draft law-argue it is better to collect the fingerprints andaddresses of everyone here rather than keeping the illegals in the shadows, butthey have no answer for the obvious empowerment of the best hidden terroristswho are currently without legal status.
...
I have a prediction. If the law as drafted passes, a jihadist website willquickly be found to be advising all sympathizers in the U.S. to immediatelyseek their Section 601(h) probationary status, even at the risk of detection andeven though fingerprints must be given. A few jihadists may be detected andexpelled, but the huge advantage that will flow from the sudden legalization ofthe rest will be too enormous to pass by. Once past the first hurdle, thededicated jihadist has a clear path to permanent residence and even deeperpenetration of this very vulnerable country." http://www.townhall.com/columnists/column.aspx?UrlTitle=what_will_the_jihadists_do_apply_for_their_601h_probationary_status,_of_course&ns=HughHewitt&dt=05/24/2007&page=full&comments=true

That’s terrific Infidel Pride!
One critical junction crossed. Ok now lets really get started beating this thing down into the dirt. And when we have it there lets grind it into the ground. Lets barrage them with calls, emails, letters, carrier pigeons. lets make them to listen to us, lets get 60 against, what the heck lets go for the gusto, show em what we are made of who they are fooling with. You know, like that passenger who detained the unruly airline passenger recently. Lets step on a few necks so to speak. Step on a bad bill when it is down you might say, you better believe it, and hard!

IP,

Great news indeed. My wife just told me. As a rarity, I will offer some personal information. It is my beautiful daughter's second birthday today.

So far on this day, the immigration amnesty bill was crushed, thankfully.

Also, Putin backs down on the tough talk. At the moment, the "strong horse " he has been betting on, has appeared to have broken stride.

Recently, throw in a little Skarkozy, the Duranty times taking a beating for burying jihadist activities intended at JFK, the bumper sticker statements by Edwards in the debates, and things appear to be shaping up.

This could go down in history as one of the greatest days for the West collectively and our ideals for a free society, a global society unencumbered by religious influence, as our forefathers here in the US, ultimately intended.

This is no time however, for self-praise or pats on the back. The war against Islam still requires our steadfast attention, not to mention, the continued monitoring of our elected officials, who supposedly have our "best interests" at heart.

PC is still a major obstacle in the path of victory. It must be addressed as well, beaten into submission, similar to what we need regarding Islam, another 150 ebb or so would do just nicely in that regard.

Continued thanks to Robert and Co., as well as my colleagues here in the community for a job well done so far. Let's keep fighting the good fight together.

Regards,

I actually agree with Putin that having the defense shield over (preferably near) Azerbaijan, rather than the Czech Republic makes a lot more sense, since the enemy is the ummah, not the Commies anymore (okay, they still are, but the Russkies are no longer Commies - they are just the Tsar Peter the Great empire building wannabes as of now)

I don't like the idea of getting pushed around by a totalitarian Russia.

"Australia, New Zealand,

I hope you're paying attention to this. Get started on controlling your immigration. Now.

Posted by: PRCalDude"

Fortunately, neither Australia nor New Zealand have any land borders with any other nations, so our problems with aliens is not as bad as the USA.

IP,

To the gallows for the lot of 'em, in my opinion. Don't try to rain on my parade. :)

Not commies but tsarists and Putin being former KGB, technically that would make him a commitsar. Russia is a big country but Russians will be Russians. I can sum up their potential capabilities relative to existing technology in two words...Siberian Railroad.

Many happy returns to your daughter awake and hoist a tall fruit punch for me.

Thanks, tgusa. But it is near-summer here in NY, the little lady is fast asleep with no burka in sight on the horizon, and the Corona is cold.

Slightly OT, but I posted previously about Lebanon and stated that removing Saddam was a good thing, but that's not really true/correct. This country must do what is solely in our national interest. Nothing more or less. And right now, years of seeing Iraqi adult men standing around and whining about no garbage service, I'm like, pick it up yourself you lazy &^%*$@. Are these the "people" to establish democracy when they are too lazy to clean up thier own neighborhoods? And the same goes to this BS immigration bill. The Bushes, Kennedys, McCains, etc of the world - their interactions with the brown skin poeple from down south is much different than our dealings - those who read this site. Try commuting to work in the northern VA area and in the HOV lane is some "pintura" van overloaded with 10, 12 or more ladders - cruising at just below the speed limit. The ONLY law these illegel aliens who are mostly illiterate in their own language abide by. Bush, et al - their interactions are at the high end of the social ladder and that is the exception. When I see ads for visting Mexico, etc., - I laugh because I can savor all the splendor of Mexico just a few miles away.

Simple ask them all to leave! Welfare along time ago you could get paid bus tickets to go out of state, town and get another job whatever. Paid for! They were glad to get rid of you out of their state. They can have an option. Go to the nearest DSS and get your bus ticket! The one caught not doing so tent city! Workers, jobs we don't want! Let's get the homeless back on their feet again! Make prisoners work and not watch tv! They need a bus ride to the job! I know I had to do it in Arizona once. In the 60's!
Picked oranges all day. I made $6.00 the legal mexican made 38.00-50.00. They all laughed at me on the bus! I only spoke small spanish! The illegals though, is all wrong! Sad as it is, it is all wrong! How they did not take care of it before, is something else! Another weakness!
If it is made legal,.. that is alot of felons that just go free..! f' it is what people will say! f it! Go for the gusto while the gusto is still good! The politicians cheating, everyone cheating but the good old american, who has obeyed the rules! f' it! how do you get it back now! f' it!
They have not taken any questions or polls to find out what experiences people have had, with all this crapp! Hell, here in Mi. we are getting imported Iraq! Over 2,000-3,000 to be flown here and a place to live! Got to save the Iraqi's somehow! oh geez!.... I would say what happened on 9-11 they already dwarfed that. Did a 180, now they all live with us. We truly are no longer the nation we use to be or was. I pray this all changes!

Attack of the ADD president! President Arbusto al Faisal sez, amnesty is good, laws are meant to be broken, so what if you are a carpenter they need your job, really, they need it bad. You peoples are stooped yeah stoopid bigots who only care about the welfare of your country. Well, I feel better about myself every time he opens his mouth. Keep it up Arbusto and you and Carter can share a two bedroom apt, cozy.
