Radicalized British Muslims continue to pose a security threat to Israel, a senior member of the House of Lords told Ynetnews on Thursday.
Baroness Caroline Cox, former deputy speaker of the House of Lords for 20 years, and author of "The West, Islam, and Islamism," and Dr. John Marks, co-author of the book, are in Israel for a BESA Center conference on radical Islam being held at Bar-Ilan University.
Cox told Ynetnews Israel "does need to be concerned" about another attempt by al-Qaeda affiliated British Muslims to attack the country, a precedent set in 2003 by the suicide bombing carried out by two British Muslims on the Mike's Place pub in Tel Aviv, killing three Israelis and injuring dozens.
Cox added that the possibility of another terrorist attack on Britain was a constant looming shadow. "Terrorists only have to get it right once. It's difficult to have a fail proof way to stop them," she said.
The good news is that there is so much more that can be done. The bad news is that there is so much that hasn't yet been done.
"Britain has become a base for training and teaching militant Islam," Cox declared, adding that moderate Muslims who opposed extremism faced threats and a harsh campaign to silence them. Dr Marks warned that "radical groups are multiplying and continuing to recruit."

Marks said Britain's Jewish community was also under threat. "I wish they would do more to inform the rest of society of the threat they face," he added.

Textbooks being used in Saudi-funded Muslim schools in Britain contained the "same anti-Semitic texts based on the Koran that you find in Palestinian Hamas schools," Marks noted.
Cox quoted a senior British bishop as saying that "most of our educational institutions have been infiltrated," and said university campuses were prime recruitment grounds for Islamist groups. "
"They are using our institutions to recruit young people, and preventing any critical analysis of Islam. I recently visited a theology college in Wales. The first thing you see when you walk in is a giant plaque thanking a wealthy sheikh for his contribution. I thought, is there any way that a realistic assessment of Islam can take place at this college?" she said.

"The feeling is that we are all the time putting out fires," Cox said. She discussed proposals to construct a gigantic mosque in east London which would house 70,000 people in prayer. "The symbolism of the mosque is clear, it dominates over its surroundings, which submit to it," Cox said.

At least one more person has woken up. This is, after all, on the heels of the decree mandating political correctness in Britain's textbooks.

Baroness Carolyn Cox is an extraordinary woman and a real hero of mine. She is a human rights warrior; Her work has included helping so many people, in Sudan, Armenia, Burma. She has seen, close up and personal, the destructiveness, violence and human misery caused by Muslims. She is also a true patriot to her country; She deserves more press time to speak on matters of importance to the survival of the country that she loves so much. May Baroness Cox live a long life and be able to continue her important work.

The thing that will end the charade is the eventual crash of credit ratings for Western Democracies. I don’t know the UK’s finances, but I think their taxes are ~36% of the GDP vs. ~25% in the US, leading one to believe that things there are no better than they are here.
Things here are bad; the United States of America is broke. Senator Coburn, M.D. puts our unfunded liabilities at $70 trillion, rising by $3 trillion per year (our current budget is less than $3 trillion per year). USA Today puts our unfunded liabilities at over $60 trillion with the Medicaid portion incalculable. Joe Blough average American household is on the hook to pay $500,000-$600,000 to fund our government’s social commitments to those who are dependent on them. Rising by $25,000 per year. Contrasted with ~$120,000 in household debt (mortgage, cars loans, school loans, credit cards).
I visited both of my Senator’s regional representatives yesterday to ask them about the plan to deal with this. The problem was not even acknowledged. One representative responded, ‘well, the Iraq War is using a large part of the budget’. When countered with the fact that we spend $166 million per day in Iraq but incur $9 BILLION per day in unfunded liabilities, the representative promised to ‘ask the Senator’.
This bubble will pop, and it won’t take decades. The best thing for Western Civilization is for the Muslims to keep bitching. In contrast, Jesus exclaimed that Christians are "the light of the world," and the "neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house (Matthew 5:14-16)."
And so, with this very concept of Jihad (doing violence against non-muslims who are viewed as guilty according to a multitude of Imams and worthy of being slain), I believe the "moderate" muslims are playing this Kithman and Taquiya card to deliberatly deceive us in the west. They are truely jihaddists in waiting!

The book written (in part) by Cox appears to be out of print (would have to buy it used -- text was published in 2003). From book reviews, Cox and the other author, divide Muslims into two camps -- radicals (the Islamists), and "moderates." (a distinctions sans relevance, imo).
Another interesting article (about British suicide, or the abandonment of traditional British values) has been written by Caroline Glick (available on-line at jpost.com), titled: "As Europe self-destructs."

Ah, I see...the first edition (that's "The West, Islam and Islamism") is "not available." But there's a second edition (new and expanded) published Dec. 2006 which IS available. The contents look good (featured through amazon.com)(promising, indeed) -- don't see much PC here (that's a good sign).

The people of the UK have been screaming at the Government for 10 years about the effect of islam in the country. This cult does not mix with the freedom we have in the West, they use our laws to tie our hands while taking as much from the welfare and NHS as possible. They have brought nothing but threats of terrorism and violence to out country and this vile political cult should be banned from operating in the West

So you think then that no-one in Britain thinks as Baroness Cox does? Why do you people take such glee in writing off Britain? What non-rational force is at work here? "As I have predicted here many times ..." My, aren't you smart?
Listen to the BBC Radio's Any Questions from this weekend. The audience actually hissed at the panel member who tried to bring up the islamic threat. The other panel members put him down and the audience cheered. And the Any Answer callers did the same. One panel member actually seemed happy that her childhood home was now 80% muslim.
Things like that make JW's feel like Britain is lost. The Have Your Say comments on the BBC website are only just now starting to reflect some thoughts that shows a few are aware of the threat. But most seem to be happy happy happy about the multiculty country and don't seem concerned a bit. The people hate their bland food and welcome the kabbab. And seem to love the travel abroad without leaving home that goes with it. And "it's all Britain's fault really isn't it?" mentality from Britains. Politely spoken of course.
Who will the Britain's blame when Bush and Blair are gone? The muslims? Only if there is another attack in London. Maybe. Maybe not even then. "After all we survived the IRA without all this fuss." "We can't send them back they might be tortured". Better to let them kill you then to do that! seems to be the attitude.
I just hope that talk doesn't reflect the real mood of the country.

There is an excelent article in the June issue of Vanity Fair magazine, "Londonistan Calling" by Christopher Hitchens. Turns out that Hitchens grew up in the Finsbury Park district of London.
I certainly don't agree with Hitchens on everything, but I generally respect him, and this article is well worth reading. He covers the Finsbury Park mosque, the rising radicalism of British Muslims, and the 7/7 bombings. He notes that it is most often Muslims such as Salman Rushdi and Monica Ali, rather than the politically correct Western mainstream, that offers warnings about the rise of Jihad ideology.
Nothing in the article will be news to JW readers, but it is heartening to see warnings about Muslim radicalism reach a wider audience.
For me, to read about Britain's slow demise into Islamism, it's not about "glee" -- far from it. It's more shock, horror, and disbelief. (followed by anger).
I think it comes from having certain expectations of the UK (and, these expectations arise because of the UK's past, the UK's history).
I expect more from the UK. And if the UK (or the elites in the UK) appear to slavishly appease Islamists, I'm thinking, "Can I expect anything better from our "elites" in a country such as Canada?" (Frankly, I think Canada has even fewer resources (in terms of history, identity) to draw upon when fighting the Islamists than does the UK. And, rightly or wrongly, nearly every Canadian looks to Great Britain/UK for direction, guidance, etc.) So, "no", it's not "glee."
Anyway, I do want to get and read Cox's "The West, Islam, and Islamism" (2006 edition).
